I agree. Thanks for your input.

It will get better man. It will take a piece with it from your heart but you will get through. You eventually learn to just live with it. It has taken me 3 years just to begin to get to that spot.

Yeah, married a woman.... Thanks. I just want to make sure I dont let my thoughts or beliefs into his ya know. I do say that it is a step-parent but you have a Mom and Dad.

Glad to hear it is getting better. Some things arent meant to be. But it is definitely a very stressful situation.

Aw man. Sorry to hear that. It does get better or at least more distant with time. For me, I did some things also however would of stood in the marriage forever.

Yeah, everyone has to get there at some point there are many women out there.
/r/Divorce_Men30/01/24 04:34 PM

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, unfortunately they turn hostile. My ex punished me and treated me nasty to force me to finally say that is enough.

Two years isnt to long especially if you were married for a long time. Why have you not finalized yet? Possible reconciliation?

Not thinking about her. I believe I will always love her at some level as we shared so many things together in life. And yes, with we share a child so it is kind of hard to not think about her as there is constant reminders ya know. As I do miss her, there are times like you said where I am glad we are no longer together due to how she treated me. I have PTSD from marriage ending and our divorce.

The ratio of women filing first as compared to men is like 80/20.

We have one child who is 7 and that is why we stay in contact.

Unfortunately, life takes some of us that way. I never thought it would be me, but here I am. I will always resent my ex for that.

Forget her. It is a cop out to break up a marriage because you are "tired". We are adults, act like it. My ex did the same thing, rather only have the child 50% of the time, makes life a whole hell of a lot easier, but that is not the answer.
/r/Divorce_Men26/01/24 07:13 PM

She said she met some really good men? I would say what I truly want to here, but I will be booted off this forum lol. Erase her! If you do not share children, forget her.

I kept all of the paperwork also so in the future when my son is older I can show him. Hopefully, I never will have to but so there is facts there and not what she spins.

Yeah the person you marry is not the one that you divorce. I learned that very quickly. Speaking to fathers being on their best behavior. For 2 years while I was waiting through the custody process and getting to trial, I was perfect, everything I put in writing or responded to would not come back on me etc. I was like a mobster lol. I always do everything to the best of my ability in general, however judges get a snapshot and I didn't want to give any, even the smallest thing that could be mani…

Do you think you and your ex might rekindle your relationship?

She did a couple months after we split but then still said she needs to be on her own. No intimacy or reconciliation since. It has been 2 years. She has remarried. For some reason though I still feel like it could happen down the road.

We share one child together. It was a very tough divorce and custody battle. We only communicate about our son and don’t talk a lot. Her behavior became very nasty towards me. It’s like she wanted the divorce but then blamed me.
/r/Divorce_Men25/01/24 01:39 AM

My ex said she needed time. I did not want the divorce. She is too stubborn to ever apologize or say she made a mistake.

It does not! I take the quiet periods and appreciate them lol

We use the our family wizard app for communication. We do text from time to time on anything needing a quick immediate answer. If she is mean, degrades me or anything in that nature I will do my best to pause and not respond for 24 hours as I don’t need that uncalled for treatment.

I had all of those feelings also. And moved back in with my parents while it try to save money. I don’t have to imagine her with a man behave she turned out to be lez and with a women. Still sucks but better than another man being around my child.

Yeah unfortunately she has already tried to ruin my reputation during the divorce process since she left and wanted to seem innocent. I do believe she is a narcissist. When she loses control she will freak out and get very angry. I fought so hard for 50/50 so I am always there in my son’s life to remind him through actions of what the truth is so she’s can’t turn him against me. She does out shit in his head.
/r/Divorce_Men20/01/24 02:22 AM

Yeah. I know deep down that it should be. But you know, shared many memories and life experiences with her. But she wanted it

I might. Depending. But at the same time it is kind of just a price of paper. Depends also on what the women wants.

Many remarriages (especially one that are right after the original marriage) are rebounds and do not last the long haul. Especially with someone who has already broke the vowels, whats wrong with breaking it again?
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 06:34 PM
6

They got divorced within three months?
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 05:17 PM
7

I would never let my kids change their last name. That is so selfish.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 05:15 PM
7

I kind of wished mine did (she changed it back right away and then to the next person she married) only because my son would have the same name as her. But she is a selfish asshole who only cares about herself.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 05:14 PM
2

Yeah, she initiated it because I would never most likely. But I know it is for the best. Not sure why I still entertain it
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 04:37 PM

I cant go overseas currently with my job and son but I am leaning towards not doing it. When I have a dream about her (good or bad) I wake up going "Thank God that is not real anymore"..that should be an indication right?
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 04:21 PM
3

Yeah, you break the vowels, that is no good. Like someone else said they didnt love you then.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 04:18 PM

Agreed. Thanks for the input.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 04:17 PM

She didn’t really respect me the last couple years of our marriage so I think I will pass
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 01:58 PM
3

That is correct
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 02:06 AM
2

Yeah man. I get it. I didn’t believe in divorce. When I took the vowels, I meant them. I was not perfect during our marriage at all but you work through things. Can’t trust someone that is willing to do that.
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 12:56 AM

Most people have been with somebody else before we met them. Not being sarcastic please dont take it that way.

I was asking for overall advice.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 08:37 PM

I do not believe she physically cheated. But emotionally, I would say yes.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 07:59 PM
2

Agreed. My ex said when she left she never wanted to be married or ever get married (in general, not just meaning me) and she was the one giving me ultimatums to propose to her or she was leaving lol they change reality. And then she gets married right away again. I wish I could go back to the therapists that believed her bs and fell for it.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 07:57 PM

Thanks for the advice.

Because they change reality to what fits them at the time. I was in the same boat, I held on, wanted to work it out but eventually cant forever and let her go.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 07:10 PM

I didnt know divorced people get back together lol I am sure it happens but personally I didnt. I thought they would just look for another but maybe if know the person already, have kids etc they will.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:42 PM

I have heard second marriages have like a 60% failure rate. That is with someone knew though lol
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:40 PM
1

Yeah, that is what I went through. She valued more freedom and doing what she wants versus staying a family at a number 1 priority and it has taken a while to get over that. I have had to accept the trajectory of my life wasnt with me my ex and my son. She would rather play house with her new partner and My son.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:36 PM

Your number one priority is yourself and your kid. Your future is with a great fun and loving lady who would also love your child. This is what I want!
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:33 PM
5

Yeah, I think she just likes to have a 100% commitment so she knows she is safe and then when tired of it causes sabotage.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:13 PM
1

No kids with him. She cant have any more. And I agree. Yes, miss the family thing. But peace of mind is so much better.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 06:12 PM

Very true! LoL
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 05:19 PM

Thanks for the advice. I dont believe I will move forward. In the perfect world, maybe. But this isnt the perfect world.

Haha. Agreed

How am I crazy? I am not going to do it just want advice. I know so many things in life have changed it would never be healthy for me again. As much as it hurts the divorce, I am better off with it. I believe.
/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 04:27 PM
3

She didnt say. And yeah it took a while to get through this originally. I am still not but have gotten better ya know. We had a few years of trust issues, medical on her end pushing a lot of pressure on me to work and be there 100% it was impossible after we had a child. Plus I think she likes only having our child 50% because she can chill the other 50% before it was 100% and she struggled.

She remarried who she met a few months after our separation. They dated for 1 year and they got married. Kind of odd. To me coming off a divorce and marriage you shouldnt get remarried that quick. I know people do but doesn't work out in the long run I have heard. No they are still together, and I thought seemed happy. I dont think I would get back. It would not be the same as before and the wounds and issues would still be there unless we 100% did counseling etc. but I know that wouldnt happen …

/r/Divorce_Men17/01/24 03:37 AM

I did the first 4. I have been a great parent so I am good there. Sober 5 years. Things happen for a reason.

Same. I am in recovery and only drink seltzer or Red Bull.
/r/Divorce_Men14/01/24 07:55 PM

Yeah man I hear that. I knew about the red flags and ignored them. Same thing, always fighting with friends, not talking to family, not working etc. My ex met someone towards the end of our marriage and she had the choice not to persue. Yes the other person is an idiot but my ex could not persue she is an adult and chose too. So rot in hell.
/r/Divorce_Men14/01/24 07:53 PM

Sorry to hear that. Hope things are better now.

I am not blaming anyone. I am explaining a situation. Obviously that is the process.
/r/Divorce_Men13/01/24 03:44 AM
7

Yeah, I mean things werent perfect but she had a pretty good life.
/r/Divorce_Men12/01/24 08:53 PM
14

Yeah. And that is what happened. It is like a deflective behavior to steer away from what the reality is and what most people do see. Not their story. Still hurts comiing from someone you maried.

It hasn’t had to be used yet. I have everything in there saved as documentation. If I ever needed it I can print it all out. But no, nobody has access besides me and my ex. Honestly I don’t want anyone else involved. But it is good because if anything is needed I have it.

Can't make decisions without you if you are the father. This has to be agreed on especially if it is over an hour away. Once you allow this then it is very hard to take back. I am not sure if she is planning to move an hour away but could be setting up for this.

I am there with you man! I’m 39. I got divorced two years ago and me and my son moved in with my parents for the time being. It was the best situation for my son and consistently. I could get an apartment or something but that wouldn’t be best so I stay here and save money hopefully for a house. But damn! It is sooo hard dating.

Yeah and it’s just so much different now. We have kids, are older and have been put through the ringer so it isn’t as easy as when we met our wives and things were more innocent

It is really hard. We went from sleeping in the same bed, being best friends and loves to her not even wanting to look at me. It was like a switch went off when she left. I know this divorce will haunt me the rest of my life. It is a piece of me that has been taken and how ever hard I try it isn’t the same. It has affected my work as I am not as motivated or happy, my feelings towards women, and thinking about the future and how I won’t have that person to share things with when we are older. An…

Yeah my ex Dad left her as a child. She grew up with a step Dad her entire life and a Dad not around. I am a good father and always involved but she likes to put a false narrative out there like I am her father. It is weird and she almost actually believes it. It’s like she is reliving it. And divorce was not an option for me. I marriage was not perfect by any means but we took vowels. I would have always tried to work things out and do counseling etc. she did not care.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 03:35 AM

I hear ya. This would be different right? My ex bullshit me
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 03:01 AM

My ex is the same. She could care less that our intact family is now broken. She grew up like that so I guess she doesn’t have any values.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/23 02:51 AM

It is unfortunate but they are all caught in the crosshairs of divorce and causaulties. It took me a while to accept that. They are her support network and will stick with her, not you. They don’t want to make any waves. It really sucks. My nephews, sister in laws and her parents I lost also. It was a lot to grieve. They were a part of my life also.
/r/Divorce_Men26/12/23 09:06 PM

It is tough. I agree with the other poster. Men aren’t taught how to nurture relationships. And it also depends on the women you are with.
/r/Divorce_Men26/12/23 07:31 PM

Hang in there man. I know it is super hard. I thought we would be sharing memories with our children and our self until the end of time. Now, I cannot even talk about our own child who we used to raise together with her because it is hostile. Like I was sleeping next to you not long ago and now this. The hardest part is knowing everything was cut short. It is a death. I am mourning what could have been, a family, a best friend and a whole story. I didn’t get any closure which sucks and probably …

I am 2.5 years out since separation/divorce. It is still tough. It doesn’t hurt as much as it did but still hurts. Our divorce and custody was very hostile so I was in fight or flight most of the time. Now that it has settled I have a better perspective but still yearn sometimes that we could be a family again. Our marriage was not good but I did take pride in having a family and being married. When I lost that it really hurt. Honestly, sometimes I am surprised I made it out. If it wasn’t for my…

I am in Trauma therapy for these reasons! It is so hard. It’s been 2 years for me and I still think about us being a family unit. We have one child together. She did not care, moved on got remarried and pushing the whole step parent is a parent and throwing it in my face. I feel like she took everything away from me and ruined what could have been. My ex got married a year after she left. It has been so hard because she is trying to play this narrative that they are a family. Not me. We share 50/50 custody and I am heavily involved. I have not dated since our split and it has been 2 years. I know my son doesn’t understand it yet and may never but I am doing this so I can 100% focus on his well being and being there.
