Let me further clarify to avoid any assumptions, the child in question is 12 yo, braces are being suggested by mother because others are getting them, not because the dentist proposed them for an ailment etc, out of pocket expenses the past 4 months are $19k+, the court order which I’m trying to modify states I pay for all out of pocket medical expenses, but (this is just my opinion) there is a attempt to use this as “an open checkbook”

I would’ve taken the dog for a car ride and came back later when everyone is calm and think I went to the vet

Initially I moved to the basement but without heat or toilet it became extremely difficult, then she continued to badger me about door security, I finally realized that I have to leave when she started threatening restraining orders, which she had a history of doing, so I left. She filed months later anyway

I’m going thru the same thing and currently shopping around for a different representation, although I’m financially drained but my lawyer has been incompetent

If the roles are reversed she will be running to modify, you need every extra penny, think about the age when you can’t work anymore

Ask her to go to couples counseling, detail the issues that bothers you and state that you’re trying very hard to make things work but it takes two

I don’t understand the logic when they can make thousands more by working and living better than receiving support and being a grifter

I setup my camera tripod on the far corner and that’s gives me the excuse to stay away from her, record my kids game and especially keep her in the camera view in case she false claims which she’s done in the past

Not sure about attendance, I’m sure I will hear from my attorney when the dates get close, I o be honest I would rather go through the rest of the process without stepping foot in court or seeing her

Your mental health, peace and control is the most important. The kids will eventually come around and probably leave their childhood through their kids

I sarcastically told my kids I don’t want any gifts, and they didn’t even say “happy Father’s Day” but called the next day asking for money for sports

Sounds very familiar, unfortunately we have 3 kids, and she filed false RO several times and the courts always sides with the woman, I finally moved and filed for divorce, now we’re dealing with her bs hopefully finalizes soon. I wish I ran away years ago

For 16 years it has been more downs than ups, the obsessive connection to her family, and what they tell her. The hatefulness towards my family, towards coworkers and/or anyone I knew. Jealousy, insecurity, too lazy to do anything around the house, the stubbornness which often caused her to lose her job and relationship with others. At the end I realized she’s a very troubled person with a lot of issues and the unwillingness to seek help

Lived in the basement which was unconditioned, musty, no bathroom and completely unhealthy, while she locked ever other door, so I decided to leave before losing my sanity

weight is an easy problem, just do Ozempic, but staying for the kids is never the answer and mental health is very important
