From a therapeutic perspective, maybe you could also look at this as way to challenge and overcome those triggers. Naturally some people are never able to and it’s understandable. Like everything, it’s individual. However a goal for trauma survivors is to learn how to live life again with less triggers, and take ownership of their feelings and body in triggered situations (that they know are safe, like your self defense class). If you want to of course, just ask him to tone down that kind of stu…

Great point. there are many ways to engage in thoughtful and classy dates that don’t cost an arm and a leg, but so many dudes don’t want to think about it.

Yeah it absolutely makes sense. I don’t feel any resentment (?) towards them, but this sub is in large part is about the frustration we feel with men when dating. The other part of it is how we can navigate the dating scene better for ourselves, and then calling men out for their bs. Because where else can you do it? Conventional society pressures women to not get ‘annoyed/ mad/ frustrated’ at men and just ignore their behavior, and it works to the guys advantage. But I think you’re missing the …

Yes exactly there are always less expensive alternatives. Guys don’t want to put in effort to think of those either 🤡 . I’ve also found with guys who don’t have a lot to spend on dates, they are also terrible at putting in effort to think of creative low cost dates. Heck they don’t even have to be creative, but just basic activists like you suggested going for a walk, there are ways to make that special.

Same as well, I enjoy it all anyways and I would do my skin care routine regardless as I’ve always been a total skin care nut. I think a lot of women here have been fed up at some point with dudes not preparing for dates (I am definitely one of them). I don’t think a very first date has to be formal either, but it’s the overall lack of effort men put in versus women where I can totally get behind the sentiment that they can pick up the damn tab. And it’s just funny that they are so anti paying f…

I don’t view it as a something I quite literally correlate with I’m spending XYZ on my appearance you need to pay for dinner. There’s a lot of reasons the dudes should pay. But, it really is more of a general comparison between how much effort most women put in, and how much effort most men put in. Again (‘nOt aLl mEn’ and ‘not all women’ as we always say here). Of course like everything in dating those types tend to be outliers. Once you’re in a serious relationship, each couple has different t…

Lol if that isn’t the truth I don’t know what is. 4 minutes on oral and 6 minutes in bed. Not worth using my nice foundation, delicious body scrubs, and my beloved Dry Bar hair products for that!!

Yeah exactly. I’ve had a skin care routine since I was like 12, and then have been on the retinol, vitamin c, high spf sunscreen bandwagon for at least 15 years now. It’s not cheap! The amount of money and time I spend on my skin care products, dermatologist appointments, hair care, body care, not to even mention the gym is a lot. My guess would be about $2,000+ on skin care, body care, hair, makeup total. I’ve always gotten a prescription vitamin A/ Retinol and it is pricey sadly. Most idiot du…

Yeah it’s fucking ridiculous. Childcare, cooking, cleaning, house management etc. is a full time job on its own. My ex was pissed that I needed time to rest after my demanding full time job, & that I didn’t want to ‘take care’ of his preteen daughter who he barely saw (when he did he wanted me there to help him), as she lived full time with her mother.

Girl you know what to do. He’s only saying to you in person mildly now because it’s the beginning of the relationship. Trust me those feelings and beliefs he has are there. They will only grow stronger and he will voice them more as the relationship progresses. This happened with my ex of 4.5 years, and I wasn’t lucky enough to spot them on Reddit ahead of time.

Wow this was amazing to watch. I found myself getting teary eyed at the end. What a CATCH she is, and to see how she is trapped in such bs by her family and society and how it’s effecting her sense of self and decision making is heart breaking. I am praying she doesn’t just marry some dude who wants to be “dominant” just to get married. She would have a better reality if she lived in NYC for example.

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy14/02/20 12:54 AM
11

Agreed. Anyone emotionally mature and serious would understand. I think when people are conventional and want kids down the road, that is one thing, and more common in the dating pool, no need to bring it up super quickly. But, when someone is 100% childfree, it makes sense why they would want to lay that on the line early on.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 11:23 PM

Also another popular sub on this topic actually lol, but fencesitter just means someone who isn’t sure yet if they want kids or not. But they are not 100% child free.

Don’t know if you happen to be a member of the childfree sub but it’s a good one. Lots of discussion about this frequently. The consensus on that sub is typically right away. Lots of people there state it in their dating profile. I find it to be one of the more female positive and progressive subs as well. There’s definitely a plethora of posts about instances of men shaming women on dates for wanting to be CF, and when the guys lie (nooo surprise to any of us here), and say they’re child free, …

Yeah go for it. They have the audacity to post that stuff on a dating app where the MAJORITY of women are looking for a relationship, to be happy, and to be treated well. Dating a guy whose already married or who just wants a hookup but lies about his intentions is NOT what women want. Then there’s the majority of the guys who use it for free sex and ‘something casual’. It’s tough out there. But most men have ruined dating apps so if you’re feeling up to it send him a message wtf cares.

I mean saying that you won’t go out to a nice dinner on Valentine’s Day because you guys ‘already go out to dinner’ frequently is total complete bs and not a reason to not go. The insight that we all have here is that he is a NO. He is off and on, hot and cold. NOT good and you deserve way better. He knows what he’s doing. He’s indecisive, he wants to have his cake and eat it too, and so far he has. He is sweeping in when he feels like it, gets attention from you, and then pulls away the minute he receives it. After one round of that pattern I would be done. I know it’s not easy when you have that chemistry with someone, but remind yourself that chemistry like this is…

I do agree with this. Personally, as much as I like the idea of marriage (and it is something I want) I feel the reality is it takes awhile to really get to know someone. Based on how things are today, I am absolutely hesitant to get married, sadly. I would have to feel that the marriage was really advantageous for me as as a woman as well.

Glad this stuff is becoming more in the mainstream. Medicine of course has not been free of sexism towards women either. The over emphasis of ‘the cliff’ for women at 35 is completely sexist. As if Fertility is solely a women’s problem. And men’s sperms quality has nothing to do with it and their health and age doesn’t have a big impact as well? Total bullshit. It’s just another way to hinder women and make them feel bad, while validating men to go do what they want thinking they can impregnate …

Yeah me too. Considering she has been deeply naive and in delusion about who he really is I’m sure it sadly did not cross her mind as a legitimate option when she found she was pregnant. I at least hope she can get into serious therapy to help her through this, and has good friends and family that can help her when the baby comes. Gives me extreme anxiety. The worst thing In The World she could have possibly have done is get pregnant by this asshole. & the other horrible part is she probably is too naive to see that he absolutely took advantage of her naïveté and age difference. What bothers me about this besides the actual cheating of course, is that this woman considered this guy she was with to be the love of her life. It’s scary to think how 2 people can be on such different pages. She considers this man probably for a multitude of reasons to be the love of her life, they are living together, and he goes and cheats on her with someone he sold a blender to. This a yet another example of WHY this subreddit FDS is so important to women. I am hoping that more women can …

I agree. There are tons of great relationships and marriages that happen from online dating. Due to the sheer volume of online daters, it is easier to come across bad apples and idiot douche bags, frequently. Well yeah I read it as a bit of satire and that this meme is really through the man’s lens he thinks that’s one of the lessons his mom taught him, which reflects how poorly men critically think about things. The mom could also be a pickmeisha haha. The point of the meme is definitely focusing on what trash the dude is and his self importance / desire of wanting a mommy figure in a relationship.

100%. Saw a quote from a sex therapist saying that “your vagina is not broken, we just live in a dick centric culture.” And that’s just so true. It’s so much more complex for women to orgasm for sex, and a lot of guys maybeee spend 5-8 minutes tops doing oral for women. If you’re really lucky you’ll be with someone who really prioritizes making you cum vs. getting you a tiny bit wet so he can just stick his dick in. Yeah she will have to accept that you do not want to be a couple with her. I’m sure it will be a lot harder because now with her carrying a baby it will make her much less likely to detach. However, a couples counselor will help her do that and help her realize that fact. I think that if you used a hard and fast approach (such as kicking her out) it would make things much worse early on. With consistent therapy she will eventually go. But right now it’s probably too soon for her to admit that. S…

Women have more sexual violence against them than men, period. A lot of men emotionally abuse women. FDS is a reaction to that. TRP is a reaction to men being PISSED that women now more than ever are demanding standards. Women have always been the repressed sex, not men. FDS is cumulation of SO MANY WOMENS dating experiences with guys who want to use them for sex, and are emotionally abusive. Well, no I didn’t. A HVM is NOT just about looks or a job. It’s about treating someone with respect overall, as a human being. You clearly are putting up some major defenses. A high value person man or woman treats the other person with dignity and respect. Not sure why that pisses so many people off.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/20 03:39 AM
1

If you’re 4’8 and unemployed you can still find someone if you put in the effort to put yourself out there. There is more value to a person than their height and job. If you’re genuinely a kind person I’m sure there are plenty of women who would be open to dating you. Don’t close yourself off completely. You will only push people away.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/01/20 03:22 AM
3

No, HVM just means guys that are completely totally respectful of women and don’t treat them like trash. That’s all. Nothing dramatic there. But a lot of guys get defensive when you tell them women want to be treated well. With how many guys are quick to just have sex and then ghost you, it is more than understandable why some women would rather wait to have sex with a total stranger! Lol what a thought!

Yeah no kidding. Just got out of a 4.5 year relationship with a father and it was the worst 4.5 years I could have spent. I was young and naive at first and learned some hard truths, but never again.

You are so, so, so very incredibly naive if you think only a small tiny percent of porn is trafficked women, and even more naive if you think the police are even capable of catching everyone who rapes and abuses women and children in porn. There are billions of porn videos on internet, and tracing even 1 video is difficult. How on earth would the police be able to catch everyone who is an offender? Sadly, they cannot. Please google some basic statistics about sex trafficking and you will see tha…

I literally get so pissed when I see texts like this. He’s being so f*ng wishy washy and probably just trying to have some women in the back burner IF he decides he actually wants to make plans with one of them this weekend. He’s definitely low effort from this snap shot. I would cut off this endless back and forth and just tell him you’re busy and you hope he has a fun weekend! Good bye! And of course if he asks you out last minute say no.

Eh this is something that you’ll really have to trust your gut on. I agree though with other posters how would a future actually look with him? What would those dynamics be? I would talk with him sooner than later to ask if he’s willing to move out and form a new family / priority if he gets into a serious relationship. I would go on a few dates and see what you’re able to find out, but I think a key here would be crystal clear communication from the beginning.

Gross. I would stop talking to her. I agree with others that it sounds like she’s trying to solicit you for a threesome with her boyfriend.

First off, how old are you? Not ‘all’ porn is bad or abusive but the majority of it is. But. I am going to pretend you did not say ‘porn employs a lot of women’ as if it’s a safe and reliable job source for women. A lot of the women are trafficked, raped, black mailed, drugged and abused in the porn industry. Children are too. Sex trafficking is a multi billion dollar industry and a lot of those girls end up doing porn videos against their will. It says a lot as well that the most viewed porn vi…

Anti-porn is not anti-male, it’s pro- female respect. Men’s sexuality and men’s needs and desires have ALWAYS reigned supreme, let’s not pretend otherwise.

Predator. Him being 31 years old.....and you’re only 23.......... he was absolutely hoping to take advantage of your naïveté. Good job for trusting your gut and staying safe.

You’re extremely confused to committing your life to this man because you very little life experience OP, please listen to this very wise insight. 21 is awfully, unnecessarily, way too young to get married. And a guy that is almost 30, is really in a very different place than you. He doesn’t sound loyal or worth it anyways, but you would giving up THE REST of your young adult life getting married to this guy. Please LISTEN to your gut and reconsider.
