$3,000 is a lot of money with the way inflation and cost of living is today.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 07:04 PM

It really depends on people, I knew professionals married that ended with divorce. These are lawyers, doctors, dentists, accountants. A few hundred dollars is still a lot of money… plenty of people live paycheck to paycheck, I feel like this specifically is a bit out of touch to say it’s cheap.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/06/25 06:55 PM

I’m not saying getting married is a bad idea because of divorce. I have family members that are fine and married but have prenups. Unfortunately finances are a reality and not all of us can afford the lifestyle of getting married and divorced repetitively like a Kardashian.

This still isn’t mainstream. Mainstream means broader culture. Gen z ≠ broad culture, broad culture is all age groups/demographics. Anime is still a niche. Now if you wiped out all demographics except for Gen z, than sure you’d have a valid argument. But that’s not the case. Not trying to be rude but are you Gen z or millennial ?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/25 02:45 AM

Okay that’s still not mainstream in broad culture in the west which I’m talking about. I’m not talking about Asia
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/25 02:31 AM

I’m not talking about hentai… that’s for weirdos, but you do you.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/25 02:11 AM

I mean brands these days are using average looking people these days besides attractive people. Also high end brand models these days tend to look rather peculiar face and are different from the pre 2020’s look.

Can you elaborate ?

60’s 70’s during the sexual revolution it was much more predominant in the broad culture. 80’s and 90’s it was not as much but still more common. It started to decline gradually and but it collapsed since roughly the mid 2010’s and a new generation aka demographic group are not hooking up that much and it’s more niche
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:55 PM

Look at any commercials very very few these days in comparison to the past, magazine ads- nobody read magazines much anymore (also its much less sexual than the past) it’s all mostly digital, also this goes to my next argument social media ad- they have you’re data and selling to companies who than find your demographic and market to you customized based on your search’s and comments and likes. This a niche group.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:52 PM

You’re making my arguments it’s a niche group. not the broad culture. Niche = sub group culture.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:48 PM

I guess if you mean an imaginary hook up culture as idiots of TikTok or instagram complain about making it seem huge… but in reality it really isn’t. Than I can agree with you on that.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:42 PM

I feel like you’re not understanding what I’m saying. I’m saying the US does not have a hook up culture itself as the broad culture. Is there a niche group that has hook up, yes but this is not 60-70% of the us young adult or adult population.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:39 PM

Yes, but again you’re making my argument. It’s a niche group participating make an elite group who does. Just because we’re not pro athletes and talking about it that does not make us all pro athletes.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:29 PM

First sex sells culturally is not really a thing for gen z or millennials in main stream advertisement and mainstream media . It was true for boomers and gen x. If you mean sex sells in the sense of literally sex consumerism like porn that is completely different argument from hook ups culture topic we’re discussing.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:26 PM

That’s a niche culture not the broad culture of society and broad population I’m addressing.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:19 PM

So EVERYONE who does pills and lines are hooking up ? Everyone is defined as every person. Therefore if every person on earth today just does pills and lines they will hook up ?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:18 PM

Yes this is a niche group are you and everyone else having The same experience? If not you’re making my argument
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:15 PM

That’s an exclusivity of a niche population not the broader population. The broader population is culture. You’re making my argument.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:14 PM

You just proved my point. If hookup culture requires 'meeting criteria' and being 'privileged to participate,' then it's not culture… it's an exclusive club. You literally admitted most people are locked out. That's not culture either, that's elitism.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:13 PM

That’s a niche sub group. Niche subgroup does not equal broad society. A culture is broad society and the broad population. You’re talking about a subculture which is a niche group not a culture which is larger population wise.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:06 PM

Yeah, of course you'll see hookups at clubs and resort parties…those are literally designed for that. But that's exactly my point about it being a niche thing now. In the 80s and 90s, hookup culture wasn't confined to specific venues, it was everywhere. Now it's mostly relegated to these concentrated spaces while the majority of people aren't participating. A niche group of people is not broad society and broad population of 60-70% participating.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:02 PM

That’s a niche group not a predominant part of society affecting 60-70% of the broad population of let’s say Americans. Culture is a predominant part of society affecting the broad population, sub culture is a niche culture affecting a niche part of society. My argument is Culture.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/05/25 09:02 PM

What you wear can change your body shape to a degree. For example I’m lean athletic build (think Cristian Ronaldo but average height) but when I wear a big baggy shirt I look like a skinny dude. When some of my exes or FB wore Black they looked thinner and their ass looked smaller (a lot of the woman I dated or had a fling are on the Cuvier/thicker side )
/r/PurplePillDebate04/05/25 07:54 AM

Okay after this whole conversation. It seems that dating both got easier and harder at the same time. It’s multifaceted to say the least.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/25 06:27 PM

I’d think this is more of a common sense thing for people in my age range. Gen z I have zero idea. If Hasan Piker is seriously the standard of masculinity than people need to touch grass and get off the internet.

You don’t have to be 6 ft lmao. I’m 5’9 ft and went out on dates from woman I matched with on apps. You can show your personality texting (to a limit). Example: I texted for my friend when he started dating again after a long relationship ended and he never used a dating app. When I got him a date with a girl (he ended up dating her) he told me that she was suprised as he was different than than how he (me) sounded on tinder.

I mean there are so many to compare to that are a mainstream standard of attractiveness that are masculine like Brad Pitt, Jamie Dornan, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Pattinson. (No I do t look like those guys) but my point is now we’re making Hasan piker into those guys lmao.

3 is too little keep going. It’s a numbers game the more you go the greater the odds increase as you meet more people

I don’t disagree with that meeting in person is much better. However time is an issue we only have 12 to 16 waking hours a day with work and other life things to address. Talking to a random woman or man could be for 30-60 minutes than they may not be single at the end or they may not have the same chemistry ?

Hmm I think we’re on to something here. Maybe it’s a combo of dating apps combined with gen z or younger millennials having bad social skills. I can see how that combo can create issues on dating app. Next thought experiment: if we brought our younger parents from the 80’s and they were in 2025 and Abel to understand dating apps and had the social skills from what they grew up with. Would dating apps be less frustrating and if anything an amplifier ?

Hasan piker is a new standard in masculinity too ☠️?! I guess our culture really did change with time… I always thought the standard of masculinity was more Clint Eastwood Are you Gen z or millennial ? Im 33 and im guessing you’re obviously younger ??

Hasan piker is now a beauty standard for men ☠️ This is officially a crazy timeline

If I sent you back to the 80’s and 90’s with a Time Machine you’d think you’d kill it with the way dating worked back than ?

As a woman, if you were let’s say single and younger (not sure of your age or martial/dating status) today how would you navigate dating today? Or would it be the same as before (nothing different) ?

Pictures must be good like professional level and not decent (had to learn this myself). Do you groom yourself and improve everything you can ? Like for example I’ve got to wax my brows in the center or I grow a unibrow. I use a medical cream on my face everyday or my face flakes (from some kind of dermatitis ?). I don’t need to lose weight as I’m quite thin, but if I did gain weight,I’d just diet as I run already. You get my gist. I like to see guys do good with dating today. Yes rejection happ…

How are your pictures ? Also did you try using Instagram or Facebook ? Like dm woman on who is on a Facebook group ? Dating apps are only one tool in the arsenal you must diversify

Yes that was rough for you guys I don’t blame you on that. My age cohort didn’t have this issue we lucked out. Just curious Did you think dating in college was hard ? I remember it was pretty straightforward at the time but we had Facebook where we can post on people’s walls, I don’t know about now and if college students use dating apps when they are in a 10,000 student public university (they don’t likely need it imo.)

Yes but you must push through the no’s and eat sh*t. When I first dated I sucked and had zero game and got rejected left and right yes this was back in the early 2010’s when I started. I improved myself through trial and error. Was it easy ? Hell no it took time.

Have you tried a speed dating forum meet up ? Also don’t do M4F that’s not the place stastically it’s too low. You need a high volume. If you use Facebook there’s Facebook groups and you can dm 1000 woman in one week with an opening after 52 weeks that’s 52,000 openings to 52,000 woman. Historically that would not have been feasible back in the 80’s or 90’s. Finally how are your pictures on apps, they have to be good not shit as 95% of men have.

Fair enough I see your point. How old were you back in the 2010 and 2011 ? I was an 19 year old and in college as a freshman and sophomore. Social media was definitely different than today.

I see what you’re getting at and I’ll just add on that Meeting people for example got easier if you look for a specific person you have subgroups of niche forums (yes people even met on Reddit subs). This narrows down to people that have similar interests and hobbies. Unfortunately people do judge on appearance more harshly thanks to expanded social media. But not every person requires a 10/10, but to be fair they don’t want an unkempt and ungroomed(no showers, smells, bad breath, I brushed teet…

Apps are not the only thing, you have the internet to meet people there are niche spaces to meet in person like Facebook groups for D&D or cosplay, or historical art enthusiasts clubs yes those exist . You can dm people on Instagram. Rejection is going to happen but you can send out 1000 dms in one week. Stastically speaking after doing this for 52 weeks = 52,000 openers somone is going to respond. Now if your talking about game itself that is through trial and error. Thats a different topic all…

That’s actually a good spin. You gave me a Thought experiment: if we can time travel and let’s say take people today like Gen z and younger millennials, do you think they would do better with dating in the 80’s & 90’s ? Also to address your comment: the future of dating will likely be guys either doing sugar dating like you said, AI companions like in blade runner 2049 or Cortana from halo, and those that traditionally date real humans.
