Okay people are acting like hookup culture is this massive thing ruining dating when honestly? It's barely even a thing anymore. I'm not saying people never hook up. But this idea that we're living in some peak hookup era is total BS. If anything, we're probably at the lowest point in decades.

Here's what actually happened: The 60s through early 2010s? Yeah, that was real hookup culture. People were actually out there having casual sex left and right. It was normal, expected even. But somewhere around 2015-2016 things just changed.

The reality now: Most young people are having way less sex than their parents did. I'm talking actual studies here. Gen Z and millennials have fewer partners and less sex overall than previous generations at the same age. College hookup rates have been dropping for years. But somehow everyone still thinks were living in this hookup paradise because of what exactly? Tinder existing or people talking about ok social media? Please this is BS and malarky.

Now people are going to say “What about situationships though?" That's literally proving my point! Situationships aren't hookup culture. Their the opposite. It's people who can't even commit to being casual which is a completely different subject on its own. A handful of people stuck in undefined relationships isn't the same as the widespread casual sex acceptance we had before. I think social media completely warped everyone’s perception. People who constantly talk about it doesn’t mean it’s true. I can talk about the earth being flat but doesn’t make it true. Also the whole talk about it makes it seem way more common than it is. Meanwhile the majority of people who aren't living that life just don't post about staying home on weekends I guess? Also nobody posts about hook ups that’s weird, I never did that ever it’s socially awkward imo.

Bottom line: Your parents generation was way more sexually active than you think, and your generation (gen z and millennials) is way less sexually active than everyone claims. The whole "hookup culture is everywhere" narrative is mostly just noise at this point.
