Insanely high. I know a guy who pays that much with 2 kids, zero custody and makes triple that. There's a cs calculator which handles that and she's just trying to avoid it.

Absolutely. She left me when our child was only 3 months old. There were multiple signs leading up and oddly cryptic things said before she left. And just the complete change of personality from being my best friend to an almost bitter enemy was too overnight for it to be coincidence.

Again, the gift itself is from my son. Sure, in my heart it's also from me - but she doesn't care about me anymore. I do this for my son.

He's only 4, so it's basically from me. I also wish her a happy mother's day from myself.

Yes and I take my guy to pick out things for her. It's not from me, it's from him.

I'd say both. I was the cause of the final nail, but the split was a long combination of many factors. However I was also the only one who tried to salvage it....tried to get us into therapy. But once she filed and her mind was set there was no going back. Not even for our child. It's been nearly 4 years and she still speaks to me as if the split happened yesterday. The way I like to put it was that if I started the fire, she was the one who continued to add fuel. Even to this day.

My son will sleep where he wants. End of story. He's just a little guy and I want him to feel safe. What absolute nonsense from your ex. You should investigate into it, because often times the one's insinuating something are the actual guilty ones.

My ex likes to say she's a good woman via her religious beliefs. But I'm husband #2.

I don't know how I can say using childcare isn't in the best interest. The court seems to be very biased in what best interest actually means.

Yeah that's the whole reason I'm on here posting.....I offered my side to help and got immediately shut down.

Well the issue also is I don't have split 50 50, so when he's with me he'll never need childcare. I'm a visitation and weekends father unfortunately currently. So childcare would be completely on her time.

I need to look into it. I searched last night but couldn't find anything.

She told the court that my anxiety (which is treated) would endanger our child. She then ended up dating an ex-con who served time for abuse of a minor. The mental gymnastics of it all was astounding.

They stay angry too. You can correct everything they said you were, but the mind is made up. You weren't what they needed at the time and now you'll pay. Things do often get "better" with time though. Which can be very tough if you still have feelings for her. But she's never going to be the person you married again.

Your own mental health is always important. I have no doubt your focus is on your son, as it should be, but I found that you can't just get lost in who you are as a person. What I am trying to say is you can prioritize both your child and your own well being. Because from my point of view, having a handle of your own affairs will only make you a better parent.
/r/Divorce_Men28/12/24 04:33 AM

Because that's just their wiring. She's convinced herself she was wronged. Kinda like gaslighting.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/24 10:48 PM
10

Because it's not about her or the kids - it's about getting "even" with you no matter the cost. No one wins. Your focus is solely on your children and your own well being now. Focus on that and you'll be better off than you were before. Everything else will fall in place with time.
/r/Divorce_Men27/12/24 08:29 PM

Yes and no. I regret that it got to that point, that it was most likely cursed from the start. However, all of that led to the greatest part of my life and her own - our child. So yes, going through all that was a mess.....but there's no replacing the child that came from it. I'd do it all over again even if I knew the end result.

Religion destroyed my marriage. She's a devout evangelical and I have become more and more atheist due to exposure to her and her family. She left me, and I'm her 2nd divorce and will not be her last. IMO, those that base their existence on the divine lose sight of reality. Oh and now she's dating a registered sex offender who found god. Pretty biblical and awesome.

Religion was a big factor in ending my marriage. I married a conservative christian, and things went to hell during covid. Kinda funny how her beliefs preach about the family unit, just to have her completely smash it. And now I'm pretty sure she's using it to limit parenting time because I am not a believer.....if anything the relationship confirmed all my viewpoints on religion and has made me even more of an atheist.

Of course I have regrets - could I have been a better husband? Did I pay attention? Questions like that. But she answers all those questions for me when she continues to fail to look at her own faults in why things went wrong, and the grudge she never let go.

You can maintain a relationship with your child despite divorce. Children know when you're a good dad. Even though my time is very limited right now due to his age, my son knows who his dad is and enjoys every minute we spend together. Even gets upset when it's time to go back to mom. Although she limited me through the power of the friend of the mother court, there is no stopping me from being the best dad that I can be.

I came here when /rdivorce immediately blamed me for everything because something something man something homewrecker. I mean I got hell for just referring to my child as "my son" - like I was hinting at being possessive or toxic. Other than the random MGTOW and JOIN A GYM comments, I've read nothing but support. Posters who are obviously at fault (aka those that want to leave behind their children or take no stock in their own issues) are usually called out.

/r/Divorce_Men13/12/23 04:18 PM

Absolutely not. My ex was an evangelical and I'm her 2nd divorce. If anything, her beliefs and thinking that she could just pray things away were the main cause of the divorce.

All I want is to do is work with my ex wife on matters of our son and communication - yet no matter the topic she is quick to anger. This was a big problem during the marriage which led to the eventual divorce. But why she continues to be angry, continues to make mountains out of mole hills, is beyond me. The amount of effort to start in a perpetual state of rage baffles me. All I can hope is that eventually our son notices and starts questioning her.

If Elon Musk is your inspiration for being a good father then you're on an entirely wrong path. Elon only gets away with what he has due to his wealth - any normal guy would be absolutely fucked. Not to mention he didn't exactly work himself up on his own. He's far from self made and his recent Twitter gamble is hilarious.

Lol, she won't realize anything - the divorce isn't about the family or the kids. It's about her and her emotions overriding any logical processes.

I can spend time with my son without worrying about the constant watchful eye of his mother. We can do fun things and I can take him to places that she would never even bother. And he knows this; because dad time is always fun time without the restraints or ridicule from his miserable mother. So yes, despite it all, the time I have with my child is extremely fulfilling.

I would, but every time I see her she shows who or what she is. The bear trap example is really good that someone else said. If we ever got back together she would need a ton of therapy to address her issues.

No dude lol. I gave one example, I was saying my wife was planning this after she got pregnant. Our relationship took a nose dive after she was expecting and covid. There's a ton to my story, but cheating isn't one of them. I have zero doubts that my son is mine.

Women who (usually) initiate a divorce are not stable to begin with. Mine started crying during our baby shower and wouldn't explain why other than "things were going to be tough". After our son was born she left me before he was even 3 months old. It's all part of the show - their grand scheme to play the victim.
/r/Divorce_Men30/05/23 07:55 PM

I absolutely will when they weaponize it.

My wife...for all her Christian grandstanding and focus on the sanctity of marriage really meant nothing..... I'm her second divorce. I think her focus on Christ and no focus on her mental health was a big issue. She was the type to just pray things away. And now she's using my lack of faith to try and strip custody as well. So yeah, in my view she's proving everything I always felt about evangelicals. The idea that they live for the afterlife, while this sinful world is just cannon fodder.
/r/Divorce_Men20/05/23 02:04 PM

God is the reason my marriage to an evangelical failed. I refuse to attribute my success on the voices in my head like she does.

My ex wife dug up old texts between myself and an old gf. Those texts show me saying racist remarks. Texts are like 10 years old and that's being used against me. Even though I cleaned up my act before we were even married, the judge is making me provide medical and therapy records to basically prove I'm not a shit human. Meanwhile she is unhinged or mean at nearly every junction. Makes me worried I'll lose out big for the sins of now ancient me. Trial is in August. Will I make out?
/r/Divorce_Men17/05/23 06:08 AM
1

And women link up with other women. Mine is using text messages from near a decade ago between myself and an ex to hamper time with our child. I now have to provide medical records to prove to the court that I am stable, which is ridiculous. Thankfully I still see my son 3 times a week at least.
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/23 03:16 PM

I'm not being mean about, I'm just saying that I wasn't going to give up. No attacks, you do you. I was hoping for some insight or experiences with people who dealt with foc and then went to trial.

The age of the child and me stating that I had limited experience of being a dad at the time. She left when our son was not even 3 months old, and during the initial FoC meeting I was probably too honest about my experience as a first time father, at least that's what my lawyer told me. The rest of it was due to delays in access to the nurturing class that they requested I take - they only hold the class every few months and I was forced to start the class a couple months later, rather than imme…

But if I get no rights.....
/r/Divorce_Men20/01/23 05:06 AM

It's funny, because all of those points I clear other than the location one - which is forced upon me due to the temp order and they're having me take a nurturing class because I'm a new father. Which sucks because that class is full of people who clearly have abuse issues - which is something that never occurred in our household. My ex wife and I fought verbally and she left before our son was even 3 months. I barely even had time to be a father.
/r/Divorce_Men19/01/23 06:43 PM

She's trying to paint me as mentally unfit due to my anxiety diagnosis. Last fall I had a major fallout after covid...my anxiety is based on health so as you can imagine, covid was a big trigger. But I got help, got medication, and see a therapist monthly. So now my ex is doing whatever she can to get me zero custody despite my big improvements and stabilized condition.

Wow that scares the shit out of me. My ex has said nothing like that, but with her grasping it's like what could she do next? When did your ex make state that? Was it right in the beginning? /r/Divorce_Men27/11/22 04:32 PM

There was no subpoena. My ex stored these in a drop box and my wife got the link. This was also brought up at mediation and not an actual trial.

Sole physical and legal custody. She want to prove I'm unhinged despite therapy paperwork stating otherwise and I'm medicated. I got help but it lead to our divorce. Severe anxiety if you're wondering.
/r/Divorce_Men27/11/22 07:48 AM
2

Because of the content. Some are vile. I don't even remember sending them but they look bad. Nothing like threats but things like racism, hatred, etc. My ex conveniently left all her equally bad messages out and constant threads of suicide. I have treated anxiety and like I said I can be a shit talker, but nothing ever came from it. Since then I've been treated for my anxiety and we'll adjusted. I never communicated with my wife like that. I changed.
/r/Divorce_Men27/11/22 07:44 AM

She must've contacted my ex who stored this texts in a drop box. And yes, my ex is something. She was saving fight texts for 2 years. The messages are from 15 and we broke up in 17. Peacefully. I ended it.

It's not even close to my main hill, but rather an example of big government conservative christofacism. Dude, my ex wife changed her last name on social media within a few days of leaving the house.

Yep, that's where I am at. She filed just before me and has been living with her parents these last few months.

We have been fighting this the whole time, and my lawyer is certainly on it. I do feel I have solid support - but she's playing the game with our sons age and how small he is. Refusing the bottle feed, refusing to let me be alone with him, etc. And no, she didn't have to take a class at all.

Financial and asset. We cannot liquidate the assets while the divorce is in process.

Thankfully I was wrong. It's a financial restraining order! I jumped the gun on that.

I see him every other day right now. The FOTC said he's too young to overnight with me. I have to take a nurturing class to gain overnights and he has to be older.

My STBX is also multiple times divorced. Not because of cheating but because of her anger and unwillingness to cooperate. I spoke to her ex and it was almost haunting how similar our stories were.

The more religious they are, the more crazy they will be. As long as they have a god on their side, they can do no wrong. Marrying a "trad" wife was the worst decision of my life other than our beautiful son.

Jon and the modern life dating? Check out his videos....."PUTIN CRUSHES LIBERALS". Yeah, I'll pass on that beta tier.

As of right now, my soon to be seemingly hates my guts but will things like "he could be an excellent father" and such. I do wonder if she'll regret this one day, but I won't know until that day comes.

I have never even had the opportunity to put our son in danger, and I have zero history of violence. IDK why she thinks this is the path to take while also acknowledging that he needs a father too. She left when he was barely 3 months old. I have no desire to bring any harm to him and never did.

That was a big issue with our relationship to begin with. When I hit my lowest point of anxiety last year, I virtually had to care and plan for my therapy all on my own. I had zero support and she used my anxiety to further divide us. (Turns out she has a history of doing this. I'm her 2nd divorce and have gotten wind from her ex-husband of similar treatment.) Regardless I got help, got on medication and therapy. I'm good now, especially considering what I'm going through. Sure does show the imp…

Of course. I'm stable enough to work but not to have custody in her eyes.

I write down every visit and rough estimate of time spent. There are also texts stating I'm on my way, etc.

I see my son every other day for a few hours at a time. We have a FIGC meeting in two days that covers both child support and my guaranteed time with my son. So far my ex has allowed me to keep seeing him, but there shouldn't be an "allowed". I should have rights to spend time and play with him, not when she allows it. That's the point of this meeting. She's not in her right mind currently, she will hopefully see in time how important both parents are.

Our son is only 5 months old. I'm not sure how this will pan out, but my lawyer wants to stretch as much as possible so he continues to grow during the process. I know I can't just take him away, and I don't desire to because it's not in his best interest. But when he's older? Of course I would want 50/50.

Oh God I don't know. Who knows what I've texted randomly or throughout the years. But I've never been suicidal and my papers will make clear of that.

I'm still finding out. Apparently we'll get the rest of the texts as it seems my wife also wishes to avoid court and all the costs associated with it. What's funny is that this stems from the initial divorce statements of her claiming I'm mentally unfit. When I asked her how I was unfit all she could say was that I never raised a baby before. Well duh, neither has she, doesn't make me mentally unfit. No mention of texts though. So I think she's digging.

I may not be able to get a recommendation from my therapist, but I do have access to the copies of my treatment history. If push comes to shove, I will gladly get an evaluation - however my lawyer already discussed that a bit and feels it's way too expensive for something that is clearly treated and maintained. I have yet to see what these other texts, but I can tell you that based on my own messaging history, they have to be well beyond a year old. She must have been saving these for some time.

Lexapro has done wonders for my anxiety before the divorce, and I fully believe it has kept me calm while I go through this.

How does that even happen? How did she get the loans forgiven? How did she get all the money from the sale of the house?

I really wanted to try. I thought my middle approach would be able to suffice - but I learned that there was no middle ground for her. She is so far to one side that there was no reasoning even with the simplest of things. It was her beliefs and nothing else, and yet she would have the audacity to often tell me that I was closed minded.

I feel similar. I'm 2 months in after she left, and even though I wish it didn't go this way, it's as if I feel accepting now that the woman I married is not the woman who is trying to rob me custody and assets. She is not my wife. She is my ex wife. And although that love is still there somewhere, my yearning to move on to something or someone is growing increasingly stronger. 2 months ago I thought my life was set and I would be with one person forever. But now my mind is changing to the excit…

My wife's evangelicals Christianity is among one of the primary reasons we're splitting. She has merged her beliefs with her politics. There is no middle ground with her and her family. You're either a staunch conservative or considered a communist. I'm a commie as a more moderate agnostic. Great times.

My wife is actively boxing up everything in our home. Recently while she was doing this I asked here why she believed this was the right thing to do. "Stop attacking me!" I just laughed, it was unreal the response I got and it's being thrown around at me if I say one thing she doesn't agree with. Suffice to say I usually walk away when she uses such terminology now.
