Man B was caught up with work, so I went out with Man A. It worked itself out lol

Your comment disappointed me. I’ve only been on one date with Man A, and Man B would be our first date.

I’m asking because even though I know we’re not exclusive and I’m sure he’s at least flirting with other women, I don’t want to know about it. I don’t want to hear that he can’t go on a date with me because he has one with woman. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with him doing that but I wouldn’t want to hear it.

I’m confused as how I became such a villain. If I came off as malicious, that wasn’t my intention. I was asking a genuine question. Last thing I wanna do is be deceitful, which is why I was seeking guidance.

I’m not interested in lying. I just thought men didn’t want to hear things like that. I wouldn’t want to unless I wanted to be exclusive. But when he inevitably asks me “so what are you doing today?” I think it’ll be pretty obvious that I’m withholding something if I don’t give a straight answer. How should I respond in that case? “Having dinner with a friend”? I feel like he’ll think I’m being sneaky.

I think you’re right because I just got a text from him planning our next date! Funny how things work out!

I suggested we get coffee. He said that’s too boring. I was trying not to argue too much. For some reason, he really wants to do the picnic. Should I tell him again? What if he insists?

I feel the same way! It’s so funny! I would love a mature older man (and have dated them), but when you see it in real life, I can’t help but view them as creeps. Ew! I try to ignore it and tell myself that they like me for the same reason I like them.

Most relationships start off as casually dating. I'm not gonna know if I want to marry a man after two weeks of dating him. Eventually if he's worth it, I'm not gonna want to date other people. Now I know that men are going to expect an exclusive relationship before making any kind of commitment.

Making clear that I want to get married soon and seeing if he feels the same way.

I agree but the thing is you can be sure and wrong. A husband can be sure he married a loyal woman. Then seven years later, he finds out she cheated on him. But I get what everyone is saying.

Well my belief was that it is pointless to date exclusively without engagement; therefore, prior to that, it is assumed that you both are seeing other people. But now I realize that in Western society, exclusive dating is pretty much an extended engagement. So yes if you are in committed relationship, even without a proper proposal, it is possible (and clearly wrong) to cheat on your partner.

So basically what I'm thinking as engagement, you all think of as exclusively dating. Should I assume if a man wants to date exclusively that he's ready to get married? Is this the time to start talking about marriage?

That would be casually dating. I don't particularly see the point of exclusive dating (just get engaged), but I'll learn to love it.

"Talking" to multiple guys is fine, but you shouldn't "talk" to any other guy if you're dating someone exclusively. You're right. And I shouldn't expect a Western man to want to marry me without being exclusive first?

I'm young and religious so I knew my dating life wouldn't be the easiest but I'm willing to adapt.

If you don't want to marry him, I don't know why you'd be dating him. That's what I'm saying. If we don't want to get married, I don't know why we're dating exclusively. We should just continue casually dating (without sex) until we're sure that we have the same values and really love each other. Why would he ask you "will you marry me" if he wasn't already sure? Once he pops the question, things can change (just like any other relationship) once you learn new things about each other. I understa…

Obviously not up until the wedding day. Once we've decided we want to marry each other, you get engaged. During this time you show each other that you're loyal, you move in together to learn each other's living habits, and you spend extended periods of time with each other families to ensure that you get along.

Thank you so much for explaining this better than me! If I could, I'd give you an award. What I learned is that you may date many people in your life, but your spouse gets the gift of your virginity and exclusivity. I know this kind of "dating" is not generally practiced in the West, but I figured RPW are more serious about finding a husband and not playing games. I also agree with this answer.

During engagement is when you prove to each other that you are loyal partners, that you can live together in peace (home lifestyle/habits), and that you enjoy each other's families (spending extended periods of time with them).

I'm willing to change my opinion. If we're both not completely confident that we want to marry each other, why not? To be clear, I'm not saying to cut off the first man. This is why I don't prefer exclusive relationships without marriage.

I see marriage and a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship completely different. To me, being his girlfriend is fickle, while being his wife is permanent. If I agree to be exclusive, it's because I want to marry him. Apparently, that's not the case with other men (and women).

Update: I ended up texting him. I told him that I regret ending things with him and I want to try again seriously. He seemed really excited to hear from me. He just kept complimenting me, asking if I'm sure, and saying I can do better than him (weird). He didn't answer if he wanted to date again. I'm assuming he needs time to think about it. He ended with "We'll talk more soon."...

You're right. I shouldn't have broke things off because I still wanted him. Like I said, we still met up weeks after ending things. The long story is: I met him when I was 20. We went on several very nice dates, had sex (I know), I met his friends. I was so intimidated by him because of his success. I'm a college student. I was insecure about my looks so I kept telling myself "What does he want with me? He's eventually gonna leave me." So I left him to avoid getting hurt. Where I really messed u…
