I play games a lot right now, currently beyond excited about Horizon: Forbidden West releasing on Friday. Aloy is one of the best, most badass women in games ever. Bar none. I've played the first HZD more than 3 times? I also indoor climb, cook/bake, write fanficton, read (books and fic ha), I like cool rocks and pagan/witchy/spiritual things I'm including my "fangirl/nerdy/geeky" hobbies because I've seen other people on this sub be a hesitant to talk about their interests and it makes me sad. …

Yes. If you are asking, you already know. But! As a 24 year old that went out with a 34 year old, I can tell you he will talk endlessly about himself, make remarks about how young and inexperienced and behind you are, and then in a few days text you about how it won't work out because you're "just at different places in your life." What the fuck were you expecting, Patrick?

My step dad ruined a shoulder surgery, his bicep and tendons DISCONNECTED FROM THE JOINT. As in, a strange lump in his arm where his muscles should have been taut and working. He waited more than a WEEK to see anyone and now he needs an entire replacement. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY

To your first point, absolutely. On family vacations I took as a younger person, the trip had to be planned ahead of time so we could reserve spots for excursions or tours. Half of the trip was already spoken for before we packed our bags. We still had days to explore on our own time, but the big ticket, meaningful, educational experiences take forethought.

I think you got it- they see it as a challenge or a conquest. An "in order to___". It's like playing survivorman in Thailand or Brazil.

I've said to people, "God FORBID I am ever remembered for being 'nice'," any time they bring it up as a "pro" for a man. The bar is in hell.

Congrats- I’m proud of you. I did kink from the exact ages you mentioned and I’m still working on my healing. I don’t have a fetlock anymore- I deleted it years ago- but I’m in the same boat where it’s all just…. Glorified abuse and outsourced self harm to me now.

The no vegetable ones are worse than the no international foods ones. It's like dealing with a toddler.

Ugh, great, as if their insecurities around cooking could be fixed by targeting you, and not.... learning. Also, yes, guys who can't cook are usually unhealthy and thus worse in bed than someone who can take care of themselves.

I thought back and remembered this is not the first time I've ghosted a guy for being picky. NO REGRETS.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/10/21 08:37 PM

It does feel like some gray area/case by case basis. If this guy had been like, "I've never had Indian food, but can we go to your favorite spot and I'll try it?" Would have been much, much better than "ew that's spicy." I do have a friend that is a picky eater, and he's kind of... ashamed about it? Something about his childhood and never being made to eat other things, so he keeps it quiet and doesn't make a fuss at restaurants where there's nothing he wants. I don't take issue with it so much.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy29/10/21 06:58 PM
52

Yeah. With the eating, I was thinking I might could make it work if he was willing to try new stuff, because not everyone was raised or grew to try all sorts of food, but god as soon as he said no cooking I was OUT

My idiot step dad like.... can't eat unless my mom makes and presents something to him. She's pretty over it. We will be out and about and step dad will call lie "idk what to eat" when the fridge is FULL. And he will panic and go get fast food. I can't deal.

I agree with textures. Certain preparations of eggplant give me the ick. I understand stuff like that. I... kind of get it with spice tolerance, but I need a certain level of tolerance. I once went on a date with a guy for tacos. I got a taco with a sauce on it that barely registers as a tingle for me, and when he tried it, he almost cried and got upset with me for not warning him. I do not have a super high spice tolerance. This was a weird date for me and it didn't progress much further than t…

I own a snake. A small corn, he will never get large enough to eat anything larger than an adult mouse or small rat. I ONLY feed frozen thawed because it is the safest for the snake and most humane for the mice. I once had a very disturbing conversation with a man at the reptarium where I get my snake’s mice. He wanted to know what I had, what I fed it, why I’d never done live or tried larger animals. He was so pushy and creepy, and pouted when I stood my ground. I said I wanted my snake to be h…

I'm going to follow some of the advice in the other comments and write out the nightmare scenario for my current object of infatuation: I come home from my long day teaching college-level classes and he's "too tired" from his manual labor job to cook dinner or even help me with the decision around food. He's in this manual labor job because he gave up his stable job so he could go road tripping with friends for a few months and didn't have a plan for after the fact. His unsold paintings pile up …

NK Jemisin for sure. Maybe some leguin. The ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas starts.... rough but that's kind of the point for the MC's development and I personally find her partner FDS approved aside from the standard fantasy novel trope of.... 500 year old elf man with a younger human girl. It happens. ACOTAR also get's smutty as heck.

I think this was thoughtfully written- thank you! I didn't realize but this is what I've been doing for a while now... examining wardrobe and expression and whatnot. I recently had an intense shroom trip and in this state I remember looking at all my potions and lotions on my counter and my makeup bag going, "Look at all this STUFF! I love video games. I love world building and storytelling, more specifically, which means I'm very picky about my games. When I do play, I don't let it control my life, I don't dump money into them constantly, and I don't have any weird superiority over which console vs PC. Alloy from Horizon Zero Dawn is a total badass and a HVM all the way. There's a scene in which a king hits on her, and one of the dialogue options is a not so kind putting him in his place, and he accepts it and apologizes f…

I've never tried lucid dreaming but thank you for sharing your experience and the VERY VALID advice in the last paragraph. The last thing I want is for someone to try and have a bad trip because of my post. There's always other steps to take than jumping right in.

I understand. If I tried this a year, or even six months ago, it wouldn't have gone nearly as well. I gotten to a certain point, a great point even, but I just couldn't move past no matter what I did, so I felt I was ready to try the extra help. I hope some day you get to try again and with more success :)

Things got dicey in the shower. I saw skeletal monsters snapping at me and I growled at them and they went away. Like some have pointed out, shrooms aren't a fix for everyone. But they may have the potential to unlock some mental or emotional blocks in our blindspots- stuff you don't even know you don't know about.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/09/21 01:46 AM

I echo this sentiment even though I didn't talk to a professional. It's not something that would have ever been greenlit in my state by a professional so I spoke at length with other people in my life with much more experience before I did this. I am not in any way recommending this to anyone with any sort of authority, and thank you for the clarification and wisdom.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/09/21 01:43 AM
8

OH well there you have it. Luckily, shrooms aren't related to MJ, so you could be safe to try those, if you decide to do so.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/09/21 01:28 AM
13

Oh, definitely. This is not a one stop fix, and it will not work for everyone and could even go poorly. I'm sorry you had such an awful experience. I personally was not diagnosed with depression and I had prior experience and preparation for what I was attempting as well as friends close by in case I called for help, so I felt it was safe to do.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/09/21 01:27 AM
10

I think the important factor when trying them is having a friend or safe person to guide and help you through. I don't know that you need to do MJ before shrooms, but either way, start small I say so you know what to expect

Weed can be very downing for me too. Shrooms can have a similar giggliness to weed but without the tired/groggy. I've also been working on this new mindset for a couple years, and got even more serious help in the past 18 months or so.

I hate Andy Dwyer and the "lovable idiot" trope SO MUCH. I had one of these in my friend group, even got suckered into his bullshit and hooked up with him years ago. He can't hold down a job and alienated everyone else in the group because he's just sooooooo forgetful and and bumbling and it's just not his fault :((((((((

Its more indicative that he watches and likes the content on adult swim enough to have a t-shirt. Adult swim is mostly trash cartoons that encourage lvm/nvm behavior imo. The way my friend put it, he wanted a Rick and Morty or family guy Tshirt, but dialed it back to the plain adult swim.

I'm also a creative in a big city, trying to make my way into the scene, and god the amount of cool, gorgeous, talented women I see carting around these absolute skid marks they call their partners is.... exhausting. Another one to avoid OR use as a test would be mentioning your fitness routine or goals, if you have any. Depending on the guy, they could neg or talk down about your program, or get real insecure, REAL fast. I'm a weightlifter, but my build is broad and I don't look like an instagram fitness model, which they then take issue with and question if I REALLY work out. Ugh.

I actually REALLY like body hair, and that, muscled but not lean kinda thing. Functional sorta blacksmith fit where they're built like a barrel. I like scruffy facial hair but not full beards because I'm terrified of getting beard-fished.

Hey it's great you realized your difficulties around attachment and took steps to grow and protect yourself. I once followed someone, purely for thirst purposes, like, I never talked to them because I didn't want their personality to ruin it, I just wanted to look at them, but I could see when I started fantasizing or idealizing, and I unfollowed them. It's just smart self care

You make a great point- I never save them in my phone. I'd like to add, DO NOT follow them on social media. Hell, don't even look at it beyond making sure he doesn't follow a ton of softcore porn accounts. If he follows me, fine, but once the "talking stage" has run its course, I remove them as a follower or block them. They don't have a right to your life if they won't put the minimum effort into keeping your time and attention.

Bringing me flashbacks of a NVM I knew years ago that didn't even have a SHOWER CURTAIN. He just angled the shower nozzle at the wall. He asked a friend and I to help him decorate his apartment. Dude was talking about nice lamps and we were like SHOWER CURTAIN FIRST. He'd been there for a month already.

The art materials I use are specialized and fussy. They require special prep, special handling and safety precautions, specific measurements. The whole nine yards. Guys that have LITERALLY never used resin or the like will try to tell me how to work with it.

I've learned a lot though trial and error and youtube. As a general rule, people tend to overwater. Try the book "The New Plant Parent" By Derryl Cheng. A lot of plants actually need to dry out some between waterings or have specific needs to their genus. You will kill a few plants as you start. Don't get anything too high end till you learn a bit more.

I kind of see her point, but I need some overlap?? Somewhere? Museums and sports games are entirely different things with different vibes and contexts, I don't know how they work together. Makes more sense if its "he likes science museum, you like art museum, make a day of both" She's very much projecting though. She's worked on her own ultimatum for Step Dad and it's in progress but its looooong overdue

Seconding Nordstrom Rack and I love Madewell, JCrew's sister store. They can lean into the baggy boho but I have a few things from them that aren't like that and I love them. In the exact same boat when it comes to bust/athletic shoulders and curves. I can never find dresses that work for me, so when I do, I just have a rule that I buy it if it's less than $100. So, where do fellow recovering kinkmeshias get their "material"? I'm trying to get into written stuff because its much gentler imagery, but I struggle finding ones that are good/realistic and not just as riddled with weird kinks as porn videos. If anyone is unaware, this is Louis CK. And a lot of his work is just "I'm a gross disgusting man hahaha and I'm divorced and sad isn't that crazy hahaha" He had a show on Netflix in which is character/he got to bang a hot young girl because she "just likes older dudes" and she got off on how much older he was. He's been "cancelled" in today's terms for allegations of exposing himself to a few women in a dressing or hotel room.

It's NEVER for YOUR benefit. It's ONLY for them. Especially now, they can't run anymore, run from the shitty things they've done that continue to eat at what's left of their conscience. There's no parties. No gym highs. No Pickmes keeping them distracted and numb to their poor behavior. Their weed guy is running low and they just have no other choice but to be alone with their thoughts without any filter or buffer and it HURTS because they have no emotional maturity or facilities. 100% this. I've worked in gyms, dated aesthetic weightlifters, and the insecurity they walk around with is staggering. The last one I dated pointed out the stretch marks on my breasts, which are large, hence stretch marks, and made a disparaging comment. And I pointed out the stretch marks on his ass because of the "30 pounds of muscle he packed on bruh" and he got UPSET. Also a lot of the exercises they do for aesthetics are UNSAFE AS HELL. UGH even as a vetting before hooking up, even if there's no intention of dating. I went on a little dinner date before the deed with a guy once and AFTER THE FACT he mentioned he was pro-life. I was already planning on running but I RAN. Politics were his pillow talk. Like, oh good, I definitely had sex with someone that doesn't see me as a human being. I know a lot of them don't, but usually they're not so obvious about it, and you can pretend for the act.
