I personally use step 10 to recover from a breakup! I wrote lengthily about what I have gone through and shared with people I trust including my counselor. Trust me it works!

Yes and them thinking we should manage our finances 50/50 with men otherwise we aren't liberated. Like what the fuck.

I can totally relate. When I voiced out my opinion that men should be paying women for dates and in marriage, libfem's pov is that we are indebted to men. It's hard for me to explain where I was coming from but I do openly talk about it nonetheless, bearing in mind I don't need to overexplain and I am entitled to my opinion. I just have to be ready to being misunderstood.

I'd argue the same. Whilst I understand that gf phase is tricky, it's better to spend a year or two and breaking up than marrying and divorcing. The latter is costly and higher stakes.

Omg sameeee. I had some lingering questions in my mind if I was the selfish one and if I indeed was the narcissist. Every talk about my feelings when he crossed my boundaries, made HIM feel hurt. Made HIM feel inadequate. I don't think anyone else can emphatize with this until they've went through it in terms of how it left us broken, confused, empty

Yes and even after 6 months it ended, I still cried over how stupid I was. Learning to forgive myself everyday and I am learning to accept that I was ignorant then, but moving forward, I'll never tolerate the same way again.

This is exactly what happened to me. In the pickme past I would've stayed and showed him I would stay but eventually I realized he was halfheartedly into the relationship afterwards, causing it to be too toxic for me. Leave, sis. You can do this. Block and delete. You deserve someone who knows what they want and emotionally mature in handling life and you.

Truly. Unfortunately not all women would see this the way FDS would bcs we have bene conditioned so or we've been taught culturally to keep it silent bcs it will affect their dignity. Much to unpack here.

THIS. I LIVE FOR THIS COMMENT!! Absolutely true. When I finally had the strength to write my side of the story in a relationship I used to have, I knew there will be repercussions and it might backfire me. But I said I'm not going to stop from my voice being heard. Unfortunately, not even my best friend believed me. Not even the women who are in friendships with my ex. As much as there are women who lied, there should be room for our voice to be heard. I'm no going to let my ex walk around telli…

Reminds me of the same question I had in mind as I was talking to my guy friends about walking home at night is super dangerous for women and they just snatched the platform by replying "well men too faced harassment!!!" Fuck you I don't care I'm talking about my experience here.

I feel the same way. I think there should a safe space in a romantic partnership to talk about your feelings, your worries, what you read etc. When I first communicated to my ex about what I feel in the relationship, it immediately backfired me in a way that he raised his voice at me. Even telling him about John Gottman's book and emotional infidelity made him attack me back. It's so weird yet so odd the feeling of repressing your thoughts and feelings just to keep the relationship going and to …

Y'all...I can't thank you enough for writing your fair share of opinion. But I've come to the conclusion that I should continue writing on Medium, either about him or general relationship stuffs that I could anecdotally relate from my own experience. His friends can support him and back him up, I don't care. They are not my friends. I'm speaking(or writing) the truth, so if he feels hurt, I'm only hurting his ego by describing what he did to me. Now that we have broken up, do I care about his pr…

No, I don't write hoping him or his friends and family to see. But it came out to him after a friend of mine who's a friend of his cousin knew about he article. Thank you for your opinion, I truly appreciate it. I'm not trying to prove to anyone he's abusive. I did it solely for healing. But I'm glad some came out and have talked on how my article on identifying emotional abuse has helped them.

I need this. Thank you for understanding how difficult it is healing from an emotionally abusive rship. As much as I don't want to think of his reactions, there's still that ties I haven't fully severed. I need to rise above his feelings and thoughts, and that makes me should continue writing and share my experience with others without thinking about his pride and ego. Afterall, healing is about me right! Thank you sis for your empathy and understanding.

Sis, I went through an almost the same phase too. But I'm here to tell you to leave him be. I always keep on reminding myself the best karma is for him to stay as he is, date the next girl, let the girl leave him -- then only he knows that he is the problem. As for me, the next person I date is I UPGRADE HIM. He didn't upgrade me for loving him wholeheartedly, so sincerely, yet I begged for bare minimum and basic decency. A friend of ours told me to write him a letter for him to reflect on h…

Agreed. My recent heartbreak taught me to not attach so easily, to not be invested so quickly and deeply, but more importantly vet hard. It's not our fault for loving sincerely sis. The thing about love and relationships is always a calculated risk, if not a gamble. I hope you can take care and we are always here to support you.

Hey, I hope you are feeling better. I went through a 4 months ish of healing after a 6 months of relationship that was toxic and emotionally abusive. Worse, I realized how emotionally abusive he was after two months of the breakup, when I could finally fit all the puzzles together. All that I'm gonna say is, a toxic and abusive relationship that includes gaslighting will affect you more than a usual breakup. I myself everyday would think about my ex and the things he did, and I'd be asking mysel…

I tried to talk about FDS ideas to my guyfriends and they didn't seem to get it, if not oppose to it. I think that means they belong to LVM when they don't see how empowering FDS ideas is.

Omg tell me about it! Went on a date with a guy who said his height was 168. Turned of I think he's about 160 cm. I am 163 and I was wearing heels that date too. The height differences is just too stark to ignore. The audacity to lie however, is not forgiveable.

To be fair he treated me to a good and expensive restaurant on the first date. Religiously too we both are practicing so we don't do sex before marriage. But I agree with you that self respect has to be stronger than my feelings :)

I thought so. Suffice to say I met him through OLD, we found out we had mutual friends so I felt better with him. I think there's this 3 days rule to not make a guy look like a desperate. And agreed to planning second date within a week. He has another day to make it a week. But thank you, I think I shouldn't initiate the message. To be fair all this while he's been the one initiated the conversations and I would promptly reply whenever he did.
/r/askFDS04/12/20 05:17 PM

He downplays and invalidates your emotions. A conversation about your feelings became his. This is potentially manipulation. He's emotionally immature and a man-child. You've probably got the answer already.

I think it's not just avoiding from romantic relationships with older men. Befriending with them too may make you realize that the entitlement is just the same when you are a lot younger than them. I've experienced this sort of ambush and personal attack from someone who's 10 years older than me. What do you expect? Equating my current achievement to you that are way 10 years forward than me? Is that even fair? I used to internalize those criticisms from them given to me, but now I can't be both…

That's my ex. He always preached on women empowerment economically through pension funds for housewives and social empowerment etc and even goes vegan for the most of it. But guess what...he disrespected me and emotionally abused me IRL. Sometimes I want to vomit looking at those fake woke men who could not even walk the talk.

I learned the hard way. But I'm thankful for his presence in my life. He taught me how important women to be given UBI, housewives to have pension fund invested by husbands, among others. He has all the theory. He just didn't treat me right. Now I'm using his ideas for my own writing.
