What truly disgusts me is that nobody cares about it, even progressive parties, which should be supposed to care for gender equality don't dare saying a word You gotta realize that just because a group or certain demographic calls themselves 'progressive' doesn't make it so. It's a nice sounding buzzword that people like to use, but you have to look at actions, not words. Those progressive parties aren't progressive until they actually do progressive things and stop standing up for non-progressi…

One of the funny things about that sub (politics is another good one for this) is that it reveals just how okay certain leftists are with authoritarianism/fascism as long as it's "on the right side of history." Thissss. I've noticed that very thing for many years now. It just goes to show they're not really against authoritarianism and fascism per se, they just don't want it directed at certain groups. But it's okay directed at certain others, as long as they, the virtuous ones on the right side…

This is not surprising. There are times I've submitted a gender-switched version of my resume to places where I've never heard back when using my real resume, but when they think I'm a woman suddenly now they're interested in my candidacy.

AITA has had that issue for a long time. You can literally take the same situation, same words, just gender-switched and the responses flip completely.

It's as if they hate men so much, that only the most "manly" men can break through that to catch their interest. Honestly, that very well could explain it. I've noticed a similar thing.

I've never heard of this outfit before, but their front page says this: We are the world's largest collective working to bring men and boys into the work of women's rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and gender justice for all, while supporting men and boys to break free of stereotypes of what it means to be a man. Click here to learn more about us. Seems like a feminist organization to me, just focusing on bringing men into it. Hence you're going to get a lot of a certain type of rhetoric.

Or blatant showing of distaste for freedom of speech as a general principle. Yeah it's wild in recent years how free speech is sometimes spun as a 'right wing' concept. Bizarro World.

I'm in academia. Most of the people I interact with are women, most are very progressive. As an egalitarian, I thought: cool, great. Here are people who share values with me: no one’s humanity, dignity, or voice should diminished by their sex, race, or any other innate trait. Even though that's a laudable expectation, it's naive to expect people in academia (at least in the humanities wing of it) to think like that. A lot of them are not nearly so 'progressive' as they like to pretend.

I think this is bang on, and one of the big problems (among several) with identity politics. I've noticed certain 'identities' count for everything, apparently, and others count for nothing, seemingly arbitrarily. Why sexual orientation and gender count for so much, and, say, socioeconomic class and neurotypicality count for so little I'm not sure. I have my theories.

When it's done to infants it violates bodily autonomy. If an adult wants to do it that's fine. I just wish I had been able to keep all the normal body parts I was born with. What's wrong if we remove excessive and not important part of penis to prevent from the problems in their adolesence and adulthood I assume you'd be okay with preventative mastectomies on teen girls. The whole “If you include men, you’re taking the spotlight away from women” thing is exactly what drew me away from that subreddit. Well yeah. If you think of feminism as a female advocacy movement (or as someone in this thread said, a lobby group for women) then this all makes sense. Why would they want to take the spotlight away from their constituency?

No, we're asking for the right of bodily autonomy...in this case, the right to not have a medically unnecessary amputation imposed on us. That's it. So you’re actually looking to take rights away from people who would’ve rather of been circumcised as a child when they don’t remember the pain, than as an adult. This, uh, 'reasoning' is so backward it's actually astonishing. You're literally arguing to impose an irreversible body modification it on an unconsenting infant rather than an informed ad…

This might be the thing that most bothers me about the left. They like to, as you say, portray themselves as empathetic, having the 'correct' moral opinions, etc but it's actually only within certain narrow limits. Only groups that they deem worthy. And even then it's seems to be a lot of insincere virtue signalling. Say what you want to about the right, and I hate them for different reasons, but whatever else they are I don't feel nearly as much smugness from that side.

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/08/23 02:23 AM

Well of course it is. Getting people to actually see that is, for some fucked up reason, sometimes difficult. You'd think "hey we're just cutting off this normal body part for no medical reason without the consent of the individual involved" wouldn't be a thing in modern life. It sounds so medieval. It's a bit like castrating pre-pubescent boys to turn them into castrati, which they used to do a few hundred years ago - we're much more civilized than that now. Well, maybe not so much.

Even further: discrimination in favor of the "oppressed" group is regarded as "not really discrimination, but equity," and is looked on favorably. Since politics has taken the place of religion for many, this has become a dogma that one cannot blaspheme. I feel this so much. It really has become a secular religion to many, and just like religion, truth and reality don't matter much - it's all about whose "side" you're on.

This is most people right now. Feminism, anti-racism, environmentalism, all of it: Nobody actually cares about these things. What people care about is getting what they want, and then they invent this morality to try to convince other people and themselves that they should get what they want. But make no mistake, they don't believe in morality. They just want to do whatever they want, and feel good doing it. A feminist would instantly start supporting patriarchy if she believed it would get her …

It's absolutely a violation of bodily autonomy. As far as I'm aware, there's no medical reason whereby neonatal circumcision is indicated. Literally the first thing that happened to me after I was born is my genitals were sliced up. Anyway, whenever women or whatever talk about bodily autonomy as a "female issue" (as if it's something men have and women lack) I can't help but think of this.

People who oppose financial abortion rights for men always end up sounding like old-school hardline pro-lifers. I've noticed that for years. When the topic of financial abortion for men comes up, the people opposed to it, even though prochoice a second before, start sounding exactly like every prolifer out there. This is definitely a thing. As a guy it feels like I'm boxed into a corner of having to exhibit all the traditionally masculine traits everyone can enumerate reflexively: initiate with women, be confident, strong, stoic, funny, work full time at a good job and make a lot of money, yada yada. If you're not those, society sees you as, basically, a loser. As a guy who's extremely passive, unconfident, unfunny, and has no money, I get how this goes. This is a weird claim to file, considering that the doings and whereabouts of Bob Dylan during the mid-60s are heavily documented (in fact he was literally being filmed for the documentary Don't Look Back). I think the OP is talking from a legal-technical perspective, why FGM is banned by law but MGM isn't. Which to me, means, "why has there been no legal challenge to the state or federal anti-FGM laws under the 14th amendment and equal protection clause, and the due process clause of the fifth amendment?" How can a rapist sue someone, even if the victim got evidence/proof? The way it works is, it doesn't matter if you're raped. If you're the biological father, you can be made to pay child support. How the child was conceived doesn't actually enter into it, as bizarre as that sounds. There have even been cases of statutory rape - a female teacher rapes an underage male student, gets pregnant thereby, and when he turns 18 is forced to start paying child support to the rapist. Same goes for police killings. Yeah it's a bit bizarre. After the George Floyd stuff, I saw a lot of black women on twitter saying they were personally afraid to go out of the house. I get that it was a lot of high emotion at the time, so I'm not sure how to tell them that their gender matters a lot more than their race when dealing with cops. Awful, a woman should be able to chose whether to carry the baby to term or not. I equally believe fathers should be allowed to sign out of any parental rights to the child. This is what I believe. And it's disturbing how people will use statistics to validate things they already believe, and then ignore those exact same statistics when they go contrary to what they already believe. Haha yep. One of my favourite quotes on this subject is "People often use statistics the way a drunk uses a lamppost: for support, not illumination."

Yes you're right. They have a candy called by that name but they're different from Canadian Smarties. Smarties here are more like M&Ms but they're coated different colours and taste better, imo.

If you don't agree with what's being said you get downvoted and often people insist on arguing with you. I don't mind a rational argument in good faith. Those can be fun. What I hate is when a well-argued post will go against a subreddit's hivemind, which will be downvoted to hell with the only replies being insults.
/r/MensRights08/02/21 01:41 PM

We have Smarties in Canada as well. I found out only a few years ago they don't have them in the US.

Because the idea men having any rights-related issues was obviously total nonsense. I know what you mean. Even the very idea that there can be any male issues doesn't occur to many. This shows how deep and pervasive the brainwashing can get.

In that case the US should probably get rid of the Selective Service then.

We have been advised that this policy is not discriminatory because it addresses a safety issue Yeah, I doubt they've been advised by anyone competent. but nonetheless, if any legal complaints are filed, we will have no choice but to simply shut down the pool and hot tub completely. Sounds like they're trying to bully people into not complaining.

So taking a stance on the first stat being too high or too low in a free society is really silly without knowing where it stands in relation to the desire for it Precisely. A lot of times you hear about group X being underrepresented in field Y, but without knowing the desire of X to actually get into Y, or the demographics that exist in the population that field Y is drawing from, such conclusions are tenuous at best.

Yeah I never understood the allegations of antisemitism. It has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with bodily autonomy. A cosmetic procedure should not be done on unconsenting patients. It's weird that you can't tattoo a baby but you can do this.

Yeah the ignorance over all this is kinda fucked. If George Floyd were a black woman, he'd still be alive right now. The police overwhelmingly kill men, not women (literally over 95% of the time in the US). There's a racial aspect to this, but the gender aspect absolutely dwarfs the racial one.
/r/MensRights08/06/20 09:08 PM

Depends how you define oppressed. I think usually words like discrimination and bias can be better descriptors. However, there is the legal issue of circumcision. Since this is written right into the laws, the fact that it's allowed to be done to one gender on not the other...yeesh. If that's not an example of oppression, what is...

but people seem to group any attraction to under 18 people as pedophilia. I know, which is weird to me. People conflate the (legal, arbitrary) age of consent laws with pedophilia, which is the attraction to pre-pubescent children. AOC is set well above the age where actual pedophilia applies. In any case, the woman pictured here looks late teenage at least, college age, so even the age of consent issues wouldn't apply, let alone actual pedophilia.

I saw this on twitter earlier. The stupidity is burning my brain. /r/MensRights04/05/19 09:08 PM

From your text, it seems like it is normal for Americans? It is normal. For certain parts of Canada as well. When I was born in Southern Ontario in the early eighties about 70% of newborns were circumcised. It's just a thing they do here. v=I am from Europe and I only ever knew one guy who was circumcised. If you were from over here your personal experience would probably be flipped around.
/r/MensRights04/05/19 09:02 PM

I can’t believe that a male rape victim can be sued for child support. Yeah. It's one of those things a lot of people don't know, but it is in fact true in a lot of countries. It's treated as 'strict liability' - that is, just the fact that the guy is the biological father means he can be made to pay child support. The circumstances around the conception (rape, underage, whatever) don't matter.
/r/MensRights19/04/19 07:19 PM
4

Maybe it's because you don't get to choose whether to keep it or not, but that seems like the reason. This is why. I had a perfectly normal body part amputated with no medical reason, without my consent. That sucks. Also probably without anaesthetic. Luckily I was too young to remember that part.

It's because your childhood is being butchered by political ideologues, believe me, I know the feeling. They did the same to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles because some moronic kid hurt themselves with nunchucks so rather than call out the kid for being stupid and the parents for being incompetent they censored any scene with Michael Angelo and nunchucks in it and named it to "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" instead. Oh for fuck's sake, is that true? I didn't even know about this.

We were literally told that life as a man is like driving a Ferrari while women have to catch up by running but since the Ferrari is too fast, we should support the runner by slowing down. Lol. That's about the most fucked up thing I ever heard. If they're really "teaching" you this tripe, I don't know what to say. My heart breaks for you. AFAIK it's only the USA on the western world. Parts of Canada too, unfortunately... but in what fucking world male mutilation is ok for no reason at all? Here in North America it's generally not seen as mutilation (even though imo it is). It's a cultural thing. Circumcised is considered kind of the default, 'normal' state.

Ask him to rephrase without using the term "systemically oppressed." See what happens. Actually, when it comes to this kind of thing, I find the Socratic method (aka play dumb and ask questions) works the best. Get them to try to explain their own position. They might discover they know less about it than they think.

A documentary by Cassie Jaye. She started it with the idea of 'exposing' the men's rights movement as being sexist or terrible or something or other, and, through the process of creating it, realized men do have issues that society should be addressing.

Ugh that’s so fucked up though. I mean, I get it. This account is anonymous. But I feel like I have a little bit to lose and the movement has a lot to gain by women showing their faces as MRAs. We are a bit more immune to the rapist/woman-hater/misogynist/ignorant comments. Not completely but it’s seen less as a selfish stance when you’re a woman. Yep. A male saying these things can just be dismissed with slandering him as a misogynist/sexist/neckbeard/etc but it's harder to silence a woman the …

I've thought this for years. If anything, it seems a lot of feminism disempowers women by casting them as helpless, fragile little victims all the time. I swear, despite not being a feminist, I hold women in more esteem than a lot of feminists do.

Good on you for being open minded. How could men also be marginalized if they had all the power? This misconception right here is the source of so much misunderstanding. Assuming all men share in this power is an example of the apex fallacy.

/r/MensRights01/05/18 09:29 PM

That's fine, but as a society we should talk about toxic femininity a bit more in the interests of equality, imo. Why should men get to enjoy all the attention? Women deserve some.

On the websites I frequent, the echochambers I subscribe to, MRA is usually the punchline to a joke, but after reading more about it I find myself aligning with most of the values and goals. That's pretty common. I think in those echochambers, as you put it, mra is strawmanned terribly. Once you find out what it actually is it's hard to disagree with it, broadly speaking.

Hopefully other countries will follow suit. but it undermines tradition So if something's tradition it should always be upheld? Try selling that notion to feminists. risks making migrants feel unwelcome. I kind of doubt that, but so what if it did? I agree with an above poster that it's an issue that shoudn't be genderized (and conveniently, probably because it mostly affects men, it isn't). But yeah, if it were women who were ~80% of all suicide victims, you can believe it would be pushed as a gender issue ("women are so oppressed they're killing themselves at a much greater rate than men"..."we have to focus on women's mental health"). I've talked to a few people about this and it seems to be commonly believed that the male/female suicid…

According to Prof. Janice FIamengo: "If feminism ever was about equality... it emphatically no longer is. In the 21st century, feminism is about special privileges and advantages for women and special exemptions from responsibilities.... The focus is always on the hardships and sufferings of the girls and women to the exclusion of equal and often far greater hardships of boys and men." That's a great quote. Hadn't seen that before.

One thing that bothers me about the recent misandric feminist discourse is how they make men look like an organized cult that receives weekly newsletters and daily memos on what to do and how to mistreat women Oh you aren't getting the newsletters and memos? You should complain to your local patriarchy headquarters.

Society expects that most women be settled, married, and on their first or second child by the time they are 30. I don’t want kids, never have, and I get constantly badgered by family (especially my mom, asking for grandchildren,) and even out in the world. A lot of the people I know from high school have children and they wonder and even judge me because I don’t want them. You should probably take a look at /r/childfree

I've long thought that, in a lot of ways, non-feminists give women more credit than feminists do. If you listen to modern feminism, you'd think women were all fragile little helpless victims of oppression with no will or agency of their own. It's not a good look.

I don't know if there is a rise. If there has been it's certainly not literally exponential. What has changed is how often it's reported. This perked up my ears. His teacher flat out said that girls are special. When the boys got to their table in the back, she looked at the girls to reiterate " you're special." Not once but twice did she tell the girls of her class that they were better than boys. I would complain. The clear implication of a message like this is that boys are not special. And the boys hear that all day long, every day. The effects can't be good long term.

Why not encourage girls to play with legos, or something? I don't see how 'punishing' boys by restricting their access to toys they want to play with helps girls any.
/r/MensRights24/08/17 10:22 PM

That's scary. Honestly, that attitude is chilling.

The laws state that if a man's semen was used to create a pregnancy, regardless of the circumstances in which the pregnancy occurred, then he is financially responsible for any resulting child. Yes. It's basically a strict liability scenario. If the man is the biological father, then he can be made to pay child support. Doesn't matter if it's through trickery or fraud, or even literal rape.
/r/MensRights03/08/17 02:32 PM

True. When I was born in Ontario (early 1980s) the rate was about 70% or so. It's gone down somewhat since but it's still highest here and some of the prairie provinces. It's quite a bit lower in B.C, Quebec, and the Maritimes.
/r/MensRights31/07/17 11:18 PM

That's a really good response. I'm stealing that for the future.

Cutting off a pleasurable part of a female's genitals is not comparable to cutting off a pleasurable part of a male's genitals?
/r/MensRights30/07/17 10:47 PM

It seems that gender roles are fine in a "progressive" society , so long as it's males being disfavored. It's always been ever thus.

Same. It angries up the blood.

Grinds my gears as well. I had a prof in university (a jazz appreciation elective I took) who often used the phrase "reverse racism" when it came to describing black jazz musicians discriminating against white ones back in the day. As if the 'real' racism is white on black and anything else needs some kind of weird qualifier.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining about it. It's just strange how ladies take so much things for granted and can't see that constant positive reinforcement isn't normal for growing boys. Yep. It seems, from what I've heard, that women just don't realize how the other half lives when it comes to this aspect.

I always like hearing about these adult circumcisions because they're the only ones that know both.

Not incredibly unhappy, but wish I wasn't circumcised. I don't like that fact that a good, healthy, functional part of my anatomy was removed for no reason without my say.

I don't believe so, no.

That's pretty funny, actually.

I am with you and so tired of the double standard that women can openly talk shit about males appearances and even their genitalia. Whereas if a man does anything off the sort about a woman he's sexist, a mysoginist, and an asshole. Yep. Have an upvote.
/r/MensRights21/06/17 12:10 AM

But I have no idea what the hell parents are thinking when they look at their perfect new baby boy and say 'let's cut a bit of his dick off, before he even knows what to do with it'. They're not thinking. It's just the culture in north america. Circumcised is seen as 'normal'. And yes it's dumb.
/r/MensRights21/06/17 12:05 AM

Hello. I was circumcised, and no, I wish I hadn't had a sensitive part of my dick cut off for no reason without my consent.
/r/MensRights20/06/17 11:41 PM

A lot of parts of Canada have comparable circumcision rates to the U.S.

It's not okay.

Holy shit. That can't possibly pass.

Yeah. Apex fallacy again.
/r/MensRights23/05/17 12:22 PM

respectfully disagree that the world in general is against men - after all, wealth, capital and political power remain concentrated among, and monopolized by, old, rich (mostly white) men. That might be true, but that doesn't really help all the rest of us who are not old, rich, white men. There's a thing some have called the Apex Fallacy, which is judging a group by only looking at a few members at the very top. In doing so you can get a skewed picture of the group as a whole.
/r/MensRights21/05/17 09:25 PM

It is a fact that there are less women in stem and business. Yes, that is a fact. The question is, what do you think the cause is?
/r/MensRights21/05/17 05:29 PM

It's always an interesting exercise to take a statement and gender-switch or race-switch it. Results are often interesting. And disheartening.
/r/MensRights21/05/17 02:30 PM
6

Your white half is oppressing your black half.
/r/MensRights20/05/17 05:36 PM
1

Well, the simple reason is that it's unethical to amputate a normal, healthy body part without that person's consent. AFAIK there's no time when circumcision of an infant is medically indicated.
/r/MensRights15/05/17 10:45 PM
1

Canada stopped because their healthcare would not cover it I believe. This is true. Actually in Canada healthcare is adminstered at the provincial level so it varies by province. I did some research a while back and Ontario's healthcare (OHIP) stopped covering infant circumcision in April 1994. It's still done to some kids but parents have to pay out of pocket, and most don't want to do that. Unfortunately when I was born in the eighties OHIP still covered it so it was free for my parents to do …
/r/MensRights15/05/17 10:43 PM
9

Exactly this. You can always circumcise later but you can't uncircumcise.
/r/MensRights12/05/17 02:47 PM
5

Repulsive article. My parents, back in the 80's when the vast majority of white men were being circumcised, actually researched whether it was necessary and determined that it was not necessary, might actually cause harm, and is essentially pointless mutilation. If I wanted to get a circumcision when I was older I was given the right to make that decision for myself. They did this despite the fact that my father was circumcised and so was his father. But they went with the facts and not "traditi…

wow
/r/MensRights10/05/17 02:24 AM

That's very interesting. Was it only his choice or was there a medical issue? How has his sex life improved? Is sensation much different?
/r/MensRights30/04/17 04:25 PM

I have little issue with this. I mean it isn't something I would do if I were him, but at least he's grown up and can consent.
/r/MensRights29/04/17 02:49 PM
3

Yeah. When it comes to this particular issue, it's like taking crazy pills. I mean, we're saying that infants shouldn't have their genitals cut without their consent for no good reason. And there are people arguing against that. Imagine.
/r/MensRights28/04/17 03:43 PM
2

Very well put. True, unfortunately.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/17 03:09 PM
3

Of course it's unfair. But unfairness toward men as a group doesn't really bother most people. It's the way the society is.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/17 03:09 PM
1

Okay I admit I LOLed at that.
/r/MensRights22/04/17 11:59 PM

I hope you'll stick around, Not Becky. You'll learn some stuff.
/r/MensRights22/04/17 11:37 PM
3

A lot. Parts of Canada do it as well. When I was born in the early 1980s in Ontario it was common to circumcise infants. It's not really a religious thing. It's just what people thought they were supposed to do to babies. I'm white, not Jewish, and circumcised. I feel bad for my one-week-old past self who had to go through that.
/r/MensRights19/04/17 10:11 PM
6

Circumcision is a big one. We should have the right to our own intact genitals.
/r/MensRights17/04/17 10:03 PM

/r/MensRights15/04/17 04:41 PM

Them: "You must be a misogynist. And the fact that you deny being a misogynist, proves that you're a misogynist." That's a classic example of a kafka trap, mentioned upthread. A bit more on kafka trapping here http://www.thedailybell.com/editorials/wendy-mcelroy-beware-of-kafkatrapping/

Vast swaths of the US want to teach creationism as science in public school science classes. Vast swaths of the US want to do away with church-state separation and try to turn the government there into a christian theocracy. AFAIK nothing like this situation exists in Europe. This is why american atheists are politically organized.
/r/MensRights06/04/17 02:36 AM

Heh.
/r/MensRights05/04/17 02:34 PM

Well, it's not wrong. They do earn less. The problem is saying they deserve more...no reason for that is given.
/r/MensRights05/04/17 02:32 PM

Of course. More women the better. In fact, out there in the real world, you being female probably carries more weight talking about mra stuff. It shouldn't be that way but it is.
/r/MensRights05/04/17 02:26 PM
4

Came here to say this. The burden shouldn't be on you to prove it isn't a rape culture, but on who's saying it to prove there is. You could probably start by asking what they really mean by it.
/r/MensRights04/04/17 03:33 PM
1

I've said so for years. Feminism tends to paint women in a very negative light. I think most women realize this as well, which could be why the vast majority don't identify as feminists.
/r/MensRights03/04/17 11:31 PM
7

Yeah...it's like she thinks 'suicide' is only the feeling of wanting to kill yourself, not necessarily actually doing it.
/r/MensRights31/03/17 10:40 PM
14

Quite so. It'd be like going into a subreddit for flat earthers. If you show them all the evidence the earth is round, they'd probably ban you too. Of course they can ban anyone they want. It doesn't stop the earth from being round.
/r/MensRights31/03/17 10:34 PM
3

I've also noticed it's a lot like creationism. There's a certain fundamentalist narrative that has to be maintained, no matter what facts & evidence might say.
/r/MensRights29/03/17 02:37 PM
3

Just googling now I found this thread: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=161479743 So yeah not having that is pretty common.
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:56 PM
4

Ugh. That's pretty brutal.
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:54 PM
4

Yeah same. I didn't know it was commonly removed until I researched circumcision quite a few years ago. Seeing pictures of penises with no frenulum at all was strange. Like, "oh, they don't have that thing there...."
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:51 PM
1

Heh.
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:45 PM
13

Routine infant circumcision really needs to be banned. It will be eventually I'm sure.
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:08 PM
3

Yeah I have those issues too. Actually my frenulum is intact which is good because it's very sensitive. Apparently in circumcision it often gets removed.
/r/MensRights27/03/17 10:07 PM
4

Agreed. You can't really force somebody to not have an abortion.
/r/MensRights25/03/17 11:16 PM

Apparently when it's his body (ie sperm) it's still her say.
/r/MensRights25/03/17 11:02 PM

Yeah I don't think this is going to go over well with a lot of women.

/r/MensRights25/03/17 05:30 PM

/r/MensRights24/03/17 02:11 AM

It's only the patriarchy that's brainwashing you into wanting to be seen as sexy!!!! /s
/r/MensRights23/03/17 09:58 PM
15

You don't even have to really do that. That might get people to react defensively. All you have to say is that, even if you think it looks better, it should be up to the person whose body is being altered to decide. We shouldn't be performing cosmetic surgery on unconsenting infants.
/r/MensRights22/03/17 03:38 PM
8

yep
/r/MensRights22/03/17 03:35 PM
5

Funny. Sadly true.
/r/MensRights22/03/17 02:09 PM
9

They wouldn't let off until I said we should remove girls breast then by the same logic bc they could have breast cancer one day. That's exactly what you should have said. They got mad and said I was being inappropriate. I would've asked how that's 'inappropriate'. They were the ones who brought up pre-cancer amputations.
/r/MensRights22/03/17 12:12 AM
11

it should be common fcking sense to NOT cut skin off your child.. You would think so, but...culture is stupid.
/r/MensRights21/03/17 03:54 PM
2

I've also noticed that. Some say big difference, others say very slight.
/r/MensRights20/03/17 06:33 PM
9

Rather than coming up with arguments against circumcision, you could just say that there are no good arguments for doing that to infants.
/r/MensRights19/03/17 01:56 PM
3

It's a culture thing.
/r/MensRights16/03/17 10:22 PM
3

That's very interesting. I wonder why New Mexico and Arizona are so different from each other?
/r/MensRights16/03/17 10:21 PM
2

True. It sounds like a distinction without a difference.
/r/MensRights16/03/17 10:10 PM

I don't remember my Grade 10 classes being like this.
/r/MensRights16/03/17 10:08 PM

You should make that thread.
/r/MensRights15/03/17 08:18 PM
2

Don't we all.
/r/MensRights15/03/17 08:13 PM

Discredit how? If they're not refuting with facts, but rather just saying the equivalent of "nuh uh" then they haven't discredited anything.
/r/MensRights14/03/17 10:07 PM

Yeah science!
/r/MensRights13/03/17 11:01 PM

I know.
/r/MensRights12/03/17 09:23 PM

Maybe only fathers should be allowed to decide to do this? Maybe only the person whose genitals are being cut should be allowed to decide to do this? Nahhhh nevermind that's too crazy....
/r/MensRights12/03/17 05:23 PM
1

In the US and Canada it's common to circumcise male infants for no religious or medical reason. It's just the culture here that says you should do it.
/r/MensRights12/03/17 05:05 PM
2

That.Is.Awesome. Saving this.
/r/MensRights12/03/17 04:52 PM

Maybe they got the idea from the Audi Superbowl ad. They were jealous of the tremendous backlash Audi received from that, and wanted a piece of the action.
/r/MensRights08/03/17 03:23 PM
5

Same. I've had people (including women) tell me to smile. I guess should've let them know they were being sexist toward me....
/r/MensRights26/02/17 05:46 PM
3

Reminds me a lot of religious fundamentalists/creationists as well.
/r/MensRights26/02/17 04:14 PM
4

Surprised they didn't throw 'internalized misogyny' at you. That's a typical card to play nowadays I hear.
/r/MensRights26/02/17 04:11 PM
1

I was born in Ontario where it's still fairly common or was then. I know Quebec it's less so.
/r/MensRights25/02/17 01:50 PM
5

It's for this reason I wish I was born in Europe rather than in North America. In Canada in the 1980s they still did a lot of slicing and dicing.
/r/MensRights24/02/17 04:31 AM
11

Agreed. Even beyond all the other stuff, I look at it as an issue of bodily integrity. Everyone should have the basic right to not have their body messed with without their consent if there's no medical reason to do it. I mean this should be no-brainer basic shit in whatever the current year is.
/r/MensRights24/02/17 04:22 AM
