They want to be able to select a partner based on superficial standards of appearance without having those superficial standards applied to them, because in many cases, they are nowhere near as attractive as the women they would like to bang. If they acknowledged the obvious fact that women also have physical standards when it comes to attraction, they might have to give up on the idea that they are entitled to a supermodel bang maid or, God forbid, put some time, effort and money into improving…

Even in the example, he only apologises because he doesn't enjoy living with the consequences of his actions. Not because he feels bad about what he did. He just wants to undo the negative effects on him. An apology for those reasons is meaningless as far as I'm concerned.

If you are on a mobile phone, you can contact the mods by clicking on the logo for the FDS subreddit in the top left of your screen and then clicking on the three dots in the top right corner of your screen and selecting "contact mods."

Set up a new account then message the mods, explain the situation and ask what you need to do to get verified. You'll have to jump through a few hoops to prove you are who you say you are, but it's not that difficult when you're genuine. I'm being intentionally vague to avoid giving tips to catfishers, but the mods are good at what they do so don't worry.

You know the sad, balding men who spend their 40s chasing women in their 20s? The ones whose Tinder profile says they got married too young and just want to "sample everything that's out there"? The ones who claim they are in an "open marriage" and they never have sex with their wives? The ones who resent the only woman who has ever been willing to sleep with them for preventing them from taking advantage of other, imaginary opportunities with women who'd never glance in their direction anyway? …

If he was able to "say the smarter and more irrefutable thing" then he wouldn't need to tell you that he was able to do it, he would just be doing it. A genius doesn't need to tell people s/he is a genius, it shows very quickly. This fool brought nothing to that conversation except unfounded arrogance and run-of-the-mill bigotry. Also, this self-proclaimed genius should know that "more irrefutable" is an oxymoron because the definition of refutable is "able to be proven false." A statement eithe…

Exactly. As a childfree by choice woman, I think being a stepmother is an even worse deal than having kids of your own. You're still expected to make all the sacrifices, but God forbid you set any standards for his kids' behaviour in your home or an overstepping, high conflict ex because then you're labelled the evil stepmother and told "you knew what you were signing up for when you married him." LOL, no thanks!

Doctors are pretty good prescribing whatever you want. Except tubal ligations for the usual stupid reasons. That's true here in the UK as well. It's infuriating for childfree women who want to access sterilisation, as they're often treated like they don't know what they want and will regret it later. Interestingly, anecdotal evidence suggests that men who want vasectomies don't receive anywhere near the same level of scrutiny.

I've always expected western European men to be more liberal and not be afraid to help with the housework. It varies and there are a few who do, but overall don't hold your breath. They will more likely claim to people outside the relationship that "we both contribute" while neglecting to mention that their "contribution" is taking out the garbage and occasionally washing the dishes if you nag them to.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy04/09/21 12:39 PM

I'm pleasantly surprised by your comments about abortion access and STEM equality. Your men sound marginally better to date than men in the UK, who also expect women to do the lion's share of the housework and childcare, while also going 50-50 on dates and working part-time or full-time in many cases!

I'll start. I live in the UK. 1) Women in the UK are generally treated relatively fairly compared to men, although there is room for improvement in some respects. 2) We have laws to guarantee equal treatment in the workplace - for example, sexual discrimination or harassment is illegal and can result in heavy penalties for companies that allow these things to happen. Paid maternity leave is guaranteed by law at a minimum of 90% of your salary for 39 weeks. 3) Abortion is available free at the po…

Moving out is what they want you to do, because it would reverse the trend towards Texas becoming more liberal. I know we just have to act in our own best interests sometimes so I wouldn't blame any woman who did leave that dystopian nightmare. A bisalp is an option if you know you don't want to have kids. Not 100% effective but pretty damn close. As a childfree woman, that's what I'd be doing right now if I lived in Texas. Most women do want to have kids though, just not right now, so this isn't the answer for them. It's a ridiculous law and my heart goes out to women in Texas. Please get out and vote these misogynistic clowns out of office at the next opportunity.

It would be idiotic for British women to move to the US on feminist grounds. I have lived in both countries and the US is far worse than the UK when it comes to treating women as equal to men. A few examples of what I mean: *Paid maternity leave is guaranteed by law in the UK (statutory maternity leave is 39 weeks at 90% salary). Unbelievably, women in the US have no legal right to paid maternity leave. *Abortion rights are stable in the UK but are constantly under attack in the US. Texas, for e…

Many of the atrocities that women in Afghanistan are subjected to were also common in Western Europe a few centuries sgo. The horrors that the Taliban commit against Afghan women is the default when men get to call all the shots because women have no economic power. The only reason that changed in Western societies was because women got educated, became economically independent and collectively demanded better treatment.

All I can say is that if he's capable of repeatedly lying to your face about this, he's capable of repeatedly lying to your face about other things. You're not going to change him. So if you can accept that he's always going to lie to you and talk to his ex, and that he views his promises to you as worthless, then stay with him, I guess. I couldn't accept that personally. I have a large dog and all of this is so true. It is AMAZING how they instantly recognise bad people. Like us, they probably subconsciously pick up on little red flags but unlike us, they haven't been socialised into rationalising away their fears. My dog is generally very sociable with people (as long as they are not coming onto my property) but if he takes a dislike to someone, I trust his instincts 100% and without question and get us both away from them immediately.

He might not be able to help being physically attracted to other women but he can definitely help mentioning it to her. There's absolutely no good reason for him to do that except to upset her and make her jealous. It's manipulative and disrespectful and he's banking on her being a "cool girl" instead of saying "sounds like you should date her instead" and dumping his ass without further discussion, which is what he deserves.

Single, older men often "bring a litany of issues to the table in a relationship" as well, so they can prefer "emotionally stable" (read: more naive) young women as much as they like. Having been a 21-year-old woman, I can assure you that 99% of them don't "prefer" your creepy old ass for the exact same reason, plus the receding hairline, high probability of erectile dysfunction and the fact that half of you look like you've been dragged through a hedge backwards.

I don't think mansplainers give a moment's consideration to whether we need or want their help understanding things. It's all about placating their fragile egos - "Listen to ME, aren't you impressed by MY VALUABLE INSIGHTS as a man?" I completely agree, although actually I do think it's part of the same point. Writers who employ this cutesy, pseudo-conversational tone don't understand women. They think we are airheads whose only concerns in life are snagging a man, slavishly keeping up with the latest trends, going on endless shopping trips for crap we don't need and pumping out kids. That's why they speak to us in this vapid, condescending language and that's also why lazy lists of "date ideas" like "go for a walk" are what…

Why is he getting any choice in how much child support he pays? Weird flex, as though contributing to the upkeep of the children he helped create is an act of charitable benevolence on his part rather than a moral and legal obligation. This is why I have decided that I won't date at all until Covid is over. If he's actively looking to date during a pandemic, the chances of any or all of the following are much higher: 1) He is hoping to get sex with the lowest possible amount of effort; 2) He doesn't take the pandemic seriously, which means he's probably putting himself (and by extension, anyone he comes into close contact with) at high risk for contracting Covid; 3) He's politically right-wing, which is incompatible with my va…

It makes sense to me. They want the resources, babysitting and cleaning services of a partner for themselves and their kids without having to give the same in return. They expect childfree/childless women to put up with their annoying kids and ex and all the mess, financial strain, drama and lifestyle restrictions that go with that, but they're unwilling to make those same sacrifices for someone else's kids. Lockdown has been a blessing in this respect. Since I started working from home I've been loving the fact that I get to rock the natural look all the time without having to hear a running commentary on my appearance. No, I don't think we need to stoop to their level. Men who use the word "female" sound like they rarely encounter women in real life. Just pointing this out to them tends to result in a rapid change in their vocabulary, since most of them like to pretend they are Donald Draper.

Block him and laugh at the irony of someone who stalks women-only subs to DM vitriol to strangers calling you bitter. Talk about projection!

Allow me to translate. I hope you are doing well. I'm not doing well. I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I miss our friendship the sexual services and emotional labor you used to perform for me. (Turns out prostitutes and therapists are pretty expensive and would cut into the budget I've set aside for the new graphics card I need to own noobs on Fortnite.) I know my last conversation with you was not a good one I was a complete and total asshole the last time we spoke and I am real…

They are jealous - not just of the men we've been with but of us because we can have sex any time we want. They can't stand the idea of being in a position to learn something from a more experienced female partner as opposed to being in a position to take advantage of her. All the pseudo scientific "evolutionary" bullshit is just a cope. They're like little kids throwing a tantrum because other people are having fun when they're not. They're pathetic.

Think about it this way - it's good to lose the interest of men who believe women lose value as they age. They're the ones who would be banging the babysitter or leaving you for a younger model when you're 40. You're losing nothing of value.

It sounds like you're building him up in your head a lot. This is something I'm guilty of doing as well but we have to make an effort to stop because it's counterproductive and will show up in our actions sooner or later. Just because he's attractive, doesn't necessarily mean he's a good person and just because he's a good person, doesn…

You really need to get out of that industry. No judgement whatsoever but it sounds like it's making you miserable. Do you have some idea of what you would like to be doing instead, in the long run?

This is a great post, and really hit me in the gut. I've been lurking on FDS for a while. I'm a 40-year-old woman, and I have been single since I left my LVM husband back in 2013 for refusing to work (seven years later, he still wants me back...not happening). Since then, I haven't been sure if I should try dating or not. I've been concentrating on building up my own life. I don't know, on the one hand, I want that connection and a best friend but on the other, I worry that I will end up with an…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
