I appreciate you taking the time to write this post, and I see you've had a lot of negative experiences. Vietnam was a pointless war though. I don't see what's wrong with diverging from the "traditional man".

Feminism means different things to different people. It also changes over time. Some are sex-positive, others are sex-negative. Which is the "real feminism"? They don't have an equivalent to the bible or communist manifesto.

I don't know how old you are 21 do you even want to be better? I want to be happy. Maybe when I'm financially independent, I'll pursue "professional help". Right now, I don't have that option. I cannot talk to my parents about these things. My university's options, are useless to me. By that point though, I think my window of opportunity will have closed. I'll be too old, too isolated and too inexperienced. Next year is my last of college, and I'm commuting.

When I was in 3rd grade, I was diagnosed as "emotionally disturbed". My parents didn't like that diagnosis, so it was changed to Asperger's. Apparently that's not a thing anymore. So I wouldn't believe any diagnosis unless I got brain scan or something, and they could point out the physical cause of my issues. I do believe though, all this is an indication that there's something wrong with me. As for PTSD, I don't know about that, but I've had plenty of negative experiences while I was in public…

Because it has to be mutual. Buying a lottery ticket isn't enough to win the lottery. The other person might also stop liking you, because things change. I'd rather have something "worse", that's reliable. In my experience, people slip out of the fingers of your life, like nothing. Whatever good times you had with them, ultimately mean nothing.

Because I'm a maladjusted, defective person. I'm not capable of "finding someone". Every bit of advice I've seen has been tantamount to overwriting my personality with something else.

It's funny that something which sounds sad to you, would make my life millions of times happier.

You're comparing a person who needs an abortion, or who has scientific achievements, or is vying for a leadership position, to an average person. You're also equating success in those areas to being valued, while I equate being valued with others being interested in you. And I would consider China to be a separate society to the one most people here belong to. Having to be "likable", is part of being valued for what you do. Being who you are isn't enough. You have to modify your personality, in …

physiological needs Do you think the desire for company is a physiological need? If there were a choice between my surface level version of a relationship, and being alone like I am now, would it wrong for me to choose the former?

They don't want that simple dynamic. Where one person fulfills their desire for company, in every way. They want to have a whole "social life". I've seen people here suggest building a social life, as part of the process of entering a romantic relationship. What if I don't really want one? It's like if in order to buy a coffee maker, you first have to buy a coffee maker factory.

Do you think if I were in a relationship like that, I would be unhappy? You can pretty much do that with anyone. I know the vast majority of people don't want that. So it's more like no one than anyone

I don't believe life has steps after you become a fully grown adult. Unless you have kids I guess, but otherwise the only thing that really changes is your health. Everything else is a rat race illusion imo. If your relationship is good, how would "stagnancy" be a bad thing?

My idea of a relationships is just three things: you spend a lot of time in the same physical space, you regularly have conversation, you have sex. That's it. And it makes sense, because to me the point of a relationship is to get rid of loneliness and horniness. A lot of people would probably think that's boring. Fuck "interesting". Boring is good. I really don't like the idea of a using a relationship as a "stepping stone". Another thing, if you're having a bad day, you're not supposed to yell…

men are the ones who don’t seem to know how to figure it out which explains their higher suicide rates. Their higher rates of loneliness What explains their higher loneliness rate, is that men have very little intrinsic value compared to women in society. Men are valued based on what they do, and what they have. If you don't meet certain requirements, nobody will have any interest in you.

What were you expecting? A revelation I guess. talk about your problems and because you're able to hear your situation you should naturally start to solve your own problems And how is this different from the contemplation I already do about my life? I can see how it would be beneficial for people who for whatever reason avoid thinking about their problems, but I'm not one of those people.

I don't see women as objects. I know they have personalities, wills, tastes, hopes and dreams, and all of that. They are undoubtedly human. That doesn't mean they're similar to me in a way I would consider significant. I also usually prefer objects to people. I have more affection for my coffee maker than random strangers. I've never met someone who reminds me of myself. The closest being a few men in an obscure corner of the internet. Even they seem different from me. Since you're stoic, why ar…

setting up a legitimate plan to make this happen and working towards that Well, I am studying something relevant in college. You're right that I should be more proactive about it. you do not understand what healthy human relationships look like Would therapy teach me that?

it sounds like healthy communications and relationships were not modeled in your family (neither by your parents nor with your relationship with your sister/other family members) I have thought about that. It's not like I have a frame of reference though. I'm also sure there's worse families than mine, with kids that turn out more normal than I have. work on yourself I see this nebulous slogan thrown around all the time. I suspect it's a hand-wavy euphemism for "transform into a completely diffe…

It's to give an image for why that ideal is depraved. I think it's a false equivalency. My ideal is not that mental illness and has key differences with it. how is she conscientious By conscientious I mean meticulous and careful. And I have no way of immediately knowing if someone is reliable.

I hate to nitpick, but those girls wouldn't really be conscientious, or attached to me. I didn't write reliable, but that too. Not being able to move or talk are extra, undesirable traits. So in case you're worried about it, I'm not going to pursue mentally ill women.

Does that resonate with you? I don't know. To be honest, I'm skeptical of psychological diagnoses. I'm not good at manipulating people, a trait "psychopaths" are usually assumed to have, and I'm also not bereft of emotions like fear and sadness. Now they call it "anti-social personality disorder". I guess I'll try therapy when that becomes more accessible to me.

I don't envy those guys. You're making another assumption about me. I know they put in work I wouldn't want to, and are very different from me in other ways. I wouldn't want to switch places with them. They're them, I'm me. I know I'm not the kind of guy girls want to date, and I'm fine with that because I like myself for the most part. You know, self-love and all that. There's ways I can improve, but I'm not motivated by wanting to appeal to other people more. Your advice boils down to, "become…

My generalizations are that women in real life are very different from what are in my fantasies, and have normal traits you'd find in most people to some extent. That seems like a pretty reasonable assumption to make. And I never said attractiveness was the deciding factor in someone's personality. I don't feel like hating myself and feeling ashamed because I want things I'm not "supposed" to want. What I want, has nothing to do with anything else. I don't see it as any different from being hung…

Do you think I haven't interacted with women or seen them interacting with others just because I've never tried going on a date with one? When did I mention what I "deserve"? You're projecting things onto me, and taking your stress out on me under the guise of righteous judgment. You see me as an easy target and convenient punching bag.

Says who? I didn't see this before. While hypothetically a women like that could exist, norms are considered norms for a reason. So looking for a unicorn women would be like playing the lottery, except it would take a lot more time and effort, and you wouldn't know if the prize actually exists. I'm not a gambler.

I've thought about that. I don't have the money or autonomy yet. On top of the legal issues. Biggest problem though is that it's a one-time transaction, and it's not exclusive. People don't choose who they love either. It's also supposed to be involuntary. I don't see how nature being the programmer is much different from a human being the programmer.

This is the plot of a lot of science fiction. Spoiler: It doesn't take away the loneliness. I think that's the case in a lot of(western) sci-fi, because it threatens the majority's value system. It calls into question whether what they spend so much time and energy on is really worth it. So they demonize this possibility in fiction to reaffirm their values.

I guess a bit of both. There's things I assume about most people, and some of those qualities I assume women have in spades. Conformist, attention-seeking, lacking in introspection, demanding, judgmental, manipulative, self-righteous. Maybe not all of these, but some combination. And I assume we don't share tastes or world view. In any case, I highly doubt anyone would accept me in my entirety. I wouldn't want to hide anything from a significant other.
