He was Anita Sarkisians partner behind feminist frequency. He also did a video on the how sexist the nerd trope is against women.

Not this. We do not support Jonathan Macintosh, the prime example of the worst kind of male feminist. This video has been around forever and admittedly its been forever and a day since i watched it last, but if i recall, its vapid media analysis that will exist side be side his worst condemnations of masculinity in his "everything is sexist" world view.

Ehhhhhhhhhh... No. This just starts and ends with girl power whatever. Its also saying nothing different than what Jordan Peterson says when it comes to assertiveness and the wage gap. The big difference is Gillette specifically went after men. Told men they were all assholes and should be better. Good for girls isn't necessarily bad for boys.

Sorry for the late reply, but you're wrong. Whataboutisms is a problem. Its straw man arguments used to dismiss real problems. Whataboutisms are frequently used against us. Its why the discourse around gender is so fucked. All we end up doing is countering legitimate problems with legitimate problems and nothing gets done.

Also, I agree with these reccomendations: Prisons should better address the health care needs of women in prison, "including gynecological and prenatal care, as is constitutionally required." NPR's reporting found that a large number of women with mental health issues end up in solitary confinement. Prisons should "prohibit shackling pregnant women and placing them in solitary confinement, as these practices represent serious physical and psychological health risks." Prisons should "do more to h…

So to summarize this report: Women's prison: one extra day in the hole. Meanwhile. Men's Prison: one extra guy in your hole. Not to engage in too much what aboutisms, but the environments are completely different. Part of the reason men aren't punished as much in men's prison is because the guards know inmates are more likely to be raped, beaten or stabbed by other inmates for transgressions.

I imagine this is supposed to be a parody of rape excuses, but I imagine the list could be legitimate advice from them. Look, I hate ragging on feminism nonstop, but when the logical consistency is the lowest common denominator is so god damn frustrating. Its not hard. Rape and rape excuses are not the same thing as false rape accusations. They are different things that just look similar. At this point they are more or less arguing that bats are birds because both have wings.

I'm not saying you need to police the ones that do. I'm saying that if the opportunity arises, let a guy know that's not the way to strike up a conversation These two statements are inherently contradictory. And I understand a need to vent, but this isn't the right forum for that. By doing it here, the implication is that we either condone or should be trying to control this behavior. Your discussion is in service of perpetuating a negative stereotype we are actively trying to combat. You are hi…

I'm gonna go out on a limb and try to simplify the argument. Basically its an example of how the worst behavior of our in group defeats the integrity of our movement. Which is a fair point. As a bi guy, when I'm on Grindr, I get a ton of unsolicited dick pics and its fucking tiring. The problem with OPs argument is it defeats something we often seek to combat here, which is the way men get treated as a monolith. To imply we are responsible for the guy who sent her inappropriate messages would be…

Funny meme, but honestly, would rather your impression coming out of here not be a negative view of women and more of a more sympathetic view towards men.

Explain how circumcision was only made popular because the inventor of Corn Flakes wanted all the kids to stop masturbating, and therefore being pro-circumcision only shows a creepy, and borderline incestuous to control a child's sexual experiences and a shitty taste in bland cereal.

Depends. Are they doing it in order to support the household so the man can spend more time as a father? Are they doing it to get their son the things he needs? Wouldn't those things be in service of men's rights? Which is why this post is a damn tragedy. It focuses on what's wrong with women instead of what's truly hurting men and how to fix it. It is a bad representation of the community and says to me OP is here for all the wrong reasons.

To be fair, the judge also let a 15 year boy who raped a 6 year old girl multiple times free. It is hard to discern this as sexism as much as it is a really shitty judge. Although I'm sure the gender helps, considering its her 18th conviction.

It's not hard to prove if the accusation is false or not. Do they have a picture of a dick? Did you send it? Is there question of if they want it? This only affects you if you are sending out dick pics to strangers. As someone who's been on Grindr, unsolicited dick pics can be very tiring and that's in a space where they are baked into the culture. If you can't address legitimate complaints from the other side, how do you ever expect people to see us as reasonable.

Unsolicited sexual images. A. This could very well be a 2 way street. B. There is an easy solution to this: stop spamming your dick across the internet. As long as you ask if they want to see and they say yes, this is a non-issue and a form of false accusation that is easily preventable.

You're bigger than them because its how you build a stronger movement. Nobody outside of this community will look at this and be swayed. We can take feminist points, tear them to shreds and if all they have to offer yelling, nobody will side with them. If we scream back, nobody pays attention to either of us.

Because this is not what this community is supposed to be about. Because it's still the wrong thing. Because this is the bad behavior we are supposed to call out, not only because it protects us from accusations of us all being shit people, but because it is the right thing to do. Because what you did makes everything worse for everyone in this debate.

How about its a dumb thing to do on the sole basis is now this sub is guilty or can be shut down for targeted harassment. Or the possibility of feminist retaliation on men's rights accounts and subreddits.
/r/MensRights31/10/19 08:17 PM

Maybe, but it puts us at risk for retaliation and its hypocritical. Fighting fire with fire only works for a level hand who knows how to do it. This isn't that.
/r/MensRights31/10/19 08:14 PM

A lot. None of it to make our community look like a collection of twats. Addendum: and this isn't to say we don't appreciate the help, but this was a dumb thing that could have serious repercussions for the community. Especially if they see you bragging about it here. The whole subreddit could be put at risk from mods if they think we are engaged in targeted harassment and we open ourselves up even more to the risk if raids and harassment from feminists who see this.

I engage with people on the issues, advocated against circumcision, written articles, donated money to abuse shelters for men. So no. Not moving on. How is this different from big red pulling a fire alarm to shut down discussions? I always say its ok to be anti-feminist because we aren't going to their rallies to counter protest and start shit. If that's what you want to do, I'm going to politely tell you to fuck off because we aren't feminists and we aren't going to use their tactics.
/r/MensRights31/10/19 07:18 PM

I think its a noble goal, but best advice I can give is relax and worry about being an advocate later. There are more important things in growing up than advocacy. Especially in group advocacy where you run the risk of seeing yourself as a victim or shade how you view gender dynamics. (I mean, you aren't going to have the nerve to do anything with anyone with false rape accusations swirling around in your head...) Just take your time. Have fun growing up. Focus more on the here and now.

I think feminist social media is shit, but I'm not gonna praise you for using their cancel culture tactics against them. We have to be bigger than them and this is actually kinda shameful for me as a free speech guy to see us try to win arguments by silencing others.

But there is still a visceral enough reaction to the word. Like screaming fire in a crowded theater. That's why I'm more willing to give this guy a pass. A plain clothes mall cop looking like he's accosting a woman screaming rape makes it look like she's in physical danger, even if that danger isn't rape. You know? Self defense classes have even been known to teach women to yell rape when getting attacked because it gets more attention and is more likely to get someone else to intervene. So to a…

I mean hate for white knights aside, if he thought she was getting raped or trying to get away from a rapist, and was in immediate danger, it is a legitimate reason to throw a punch. The fact that he fell for a lie shouldn't be held against him. This is all on the girl who cried rape.

This is terrible parenting but A+ feminist logic. Now when her son kills himself because of all the bullying about being forced to wear a dress to school, it won't be about make suicide rates but rather patriarchal gender norms. Feminism wins again! Also, something about how this is something parents of serial killers frequently did to their kids. (Henry Lee Lucas immediately comes to mind...) and I think this is a repost from a while ago... Ok, the fact that its seem as commerce speaks to how there's no perceived threat of consequences. The killer is more likely to be arrested on drug charges than murder, because killing a drug dealer is not worth investigating as much as arresting drug dealers. See where that is backwards? They're allowed to be victims of a worse crime because they perpetrated a lesser crime. This is why that 90% matters. My apologies. I tried in my be benevolent in my assessment of your intelligence. Rest assured I won't make the same mistake twice. You're over simplifying the issue. Probably because you're dealing with an empathy gap. A lot of these kids in poor neighborhoods have to utilize crime to survive. They then get met with harsher penalties than middle and upperclass people who get off with lighter sentences. This creates a distrust of the law, which leads to higher aggression from the police force unt…

Other wise we will just think you're a moron that doesn't get that men are still the majority of victims in random, unprovoked violence (ie not related to crime) And that, as with prostitution that predominantly hurts women, the laws dealing with crimes such as drug dealing are designed to impact lower class minorities highest, and thus create an empathy gap between the police and public where violent crimes are more prevalent because th…

Its an interesting read, although it focuses more on the economic stresses, which i imagine to be a huge factor in this all. It does bring up the heightened expectations of men as we start to expect more from women which is another interesting phenomenon, though I don't buy the porn argument as much. It is not a genre. It is not even a style. Does that fit in the scope of your 2nd grade reading comprehension? No? What is they style of a woke film? The unifying visual motif? What is the form of a woke movie? How is it structured? What is the underlying story or setting of a woke film? There are no unifying things in any of those things. Carpenter is merely another example of what Cameron has openly said he was going for. Admittedly the aliens directors cut elaborates more on the relationship, but it was still there and there enough that it actually helped get sigourney weaver an oscar nod.

You would be surprised what movies you like were woke for their time. Woke isn't a genre, its not a style. It's just a buzzword for current progressive ideology. And there have been plenty of progressive, social justice movies that have stood the test of time. Cool Hand Luke, the filmography of Sydney Poitier both immediately come to mind. Again, didactic tone (not even necessarily a bad thing) bad acting, forced writing, and bad characters aren't inherently woke. And there are plenty of un-woke…

There are politics here. If it were about story telling, the emphasis would be on the plot, why the characters don't work and not the characters learning traditional family values, serving in traditional feminine story telling roles, ect. I said it elsewhere, if the author had just focused on their point of its uninspired, unimaginative, and so forth, I would not be complaining. My complaint is that most of the arguments made against the movie comes down to "feminism ruined it!" Which is an ideo…

Yeah, but in that sense is the t-800 ever a strong character outside of the first two movies? And you're missing a lot from aliens. Like with carpenters The Thing, the use of masculinity was used to show its impotence in the face of a force of nature. The threat is bigger if it can destroy both masculine and feminine. "If the might of the marines can't stop these things, who can?" Kinda thing. In that, Newt wasn't as much of a damsel but a surrogate daughter for Ripley (who's made clear that she…

Love and relationships aren't the backbone of the franchise. It's always been more of a chance to explore determinism vs free will, oscillating between the two, but let's not dwell on the overt philosophical core. Instead, let's break down this argument: During the progression of the film, Dani slowly strips away her femininity in order to become, the more masculine leader of the resistance aka the role that was always meant for John. This comes right before the quote i cited above. As such, my …

Except Ripley kinda follows a similar path, and wouldn't you know, Cameron had his hands in that too. But even before Kyle Reese comes along, Sara Connor is already evading the t-800. She had agency, learned lessons, femininity aside. In that she was never a weak character like say, a final girl in a slasher. Her character wasn't as easy to replace as say, Arnold is, which is weird to say, but you have to keep in mind, the t-800 was replaced in the sequel with the t-1000.

You are you referring to the paragraph about dani? Where he follows up that point with this? This is progressive agenda 101, we must replace all strong male characters with strong female characters, but the women must first reject traditional femininity and take over the masculine role of men, thus contributing to the eradication of gender roles and gender identity. Yeah, no. This isn't a gender flip of the characters. I'm pretty sure girls with guns has been standard in Terminator. He doesn't m…

You're missing a big point here which is a bad movie is bad regardless of message. It being "woke bs" does not dictate its quality. Arguing the movie is bad on the basis of its feminist messaging is no different than when critics blast Joker over its supposed politics. It feeds the the narrative for the other side and its an argument for morons.
/r/MensRights28/10/19 09:22 PM

Fair, not just the right harps on wokeness and feminism. Criticism still remains. Making the argua movie is woke trash is a shit argument for shit people. A bad movie is a bad movie regardless of politics. Making it about politics only devalues the legitimate criticisms of the film.

Maybe don't blindly follow the leader here. Everything is clearly pointed at the article and its focus. The central complaint the author keeps circling back to is its woke politics and feminism. It doesn't take a film scholar to explain the legacy of Sarah Connor and James Cameron's utilization of female protagonists. If its a shitty movie, it's shitty for reasons other than its politics because those politics were there at inception. Playing this "its woke garbage" does nothing but feed the nar…

How is this at all related to men's rights? The answer is it isn't. Its a pandering bad faith right wing argument that wants to complain about strong female characters in a franchise known for strong female characters and a history of killing off main characters to shake up character dynamics. If you don't like it, its fine, but let's not pretend that this isn't what the Terminator Franchise is.

We do. You're failing to recognize it in the same way they do. The biggest problem with most forms of feminism is that it centers everything on the gender debate and how women should see it. The lack of a focus on women's issues becomes a shortcoming of perceived sexists. The issue isn't a lack of caring on our part, its a failure on you, and feminism, to understand nuance and understanding how caring about both genders does not mean a gynocentric focus on the issues. You're missing the point. Someone with 60 accusations against him was able to bury the story for 4+ years because of a highly publicized false accusation. False accusations legitimately make it harder for rape victims to be believed and can tangibly push off the course of justice for years. That is the true inherent danger of believe all women. It creates a system that hurts men and women alike.

I think the point of any villian, sympathetic or not, is to show the shortcomings of the belief systems of both hero and villain but show where there are shortcomings in their way of thinking. Where the hero can learn, villains fail because they are too radical and too inflexible. They represent the failure of ideology and humanity.

We don't hate women. 99.9% of the people here don't hate women. Calling out where women are privileged and where double standards exist is not hating women. That is something a lot of people have to unlearn. A lot of us do hate feminists though. Especially rad fems for obvious reasons. But again that is not hating women. That is opposition to their policies and ideologies.

You buried the lead, she blamed El Paso on MRAs right off the bat. But isn't this the magazine edited by Katherine "Domestic violence is just a prettied up word for wife beating" Spillar? Yeah, her brand of superficial white radical feminism is the exact BS that puts more men of color behind bars. The only reason MRAs are anti-feminist is because of feminists like her that use it as a platform to attack advocacy for men's issues.

We need to demand our rights under the US and State Constitutions And taking away other peoples means is the opposite of this. I don't care how feminism rigged the system. Why would you ever want to use a corrupt system is just petty. Instead of trying to rebuilding a system to make everyone equal and happy you're trying to just make everyone miserable and that's the exact mentality that hurts our message. Ok, and harassing people and getting them fired is the worst way the system "works" for anyone. If that's how the opposition wants to play, so be it. They are the problem with the system and we should not join them there. It's a cheap move that does nothing but solidifies our opponents position against us and will be the exact thing people cite when people say we are just misogynists who hate women. We have to be smarter and be better. That's all I'm saying.

Lets not ruin a persons life over their inherent sexism. Lets just use them as an example of what's wrong so we can fix society around her. We especially shouldn't become a social justice mob because, as a woman, sympathy will go to her. She serves us more as a villain than a victim.

I would argue this is a common type of abuse that often goes unrecognized, and is more often associated with female abuser over male victim. If the typical argument is men can do more psychical harm, then women employ more psychological tactics in abuse and that's something that needs to be recognized and stopped as much as the physical violence. Psychological abuse is still abuse. Granted, OP could do a better job pointing that out, but I can see where this highlights a potential men's rights i…

This kinda shows why the typical anti-feminist position of the men's rights movement is better for both men and women. Feminism attempts to restrict female freedoms and empowerment by removing the systems the think empower us while to the detriment of other women while we want to break down empathy divides which will allow men and women to understand and respect eachother better through all of their choices.

Hurt, not injured. In school there's always a teacher to break it up, in a bar there's a bouncer and if it moves to the street the assumption is the cops will come. Its a bystander effect. There is a recognition of a mutual consent to the violence that can turn the instant that violence goes too far and once that violence does go too far it stops being fun. I get that. Lawyers say shitty things in the defense of a client, but at the same time she just entered a guilty plea for (possibly?) A minimum sentence. It's past the time to mount a defense like that, and it almost never works. While succumbing to a crushing gynocentric society may cause you to lose your balls, Tyler Durden will just as soon cut them off for you. Both paths remove your sense of agency and Tyler's definition of what a man is is just as much of a prison as society's.

It depends on the risk of retaliation. If it's low, I would confront her, tell her you aren't interested. Do it with a friend nearby so they can confirm you were appropriate without necessarily being so close as to humiliate her. If she persists, get hr involved. I personally prefer it when people address their issues with me directly because once it gets to HR it tends to blow up into water cooler drama.

Menimism isnt a thing. Mens rights isn't some ideological flip of the coin of feminism so at least maintain the dignity we do have by not using cartoon terms. The sharing of emotions is a complex topic. It's not just about men crying, but also the different ways men express those emotions. We don't express those emotions like women. Its like how women prefer hearing compliments for a good job whereas men like being rewarded physically. The problems aren't just we don't express our feelings, its …

On one side, she recognized that boys could be victims and that not all prostitutes are forced into sex work. On the other her revamping of the definition of sex trafficking could apply to almost all prostitutes and any man with a family in any non-sex work job. In fact it could easily be applied to drug dealers, which is the more male dominated side of the poverty driven crime occupations, and we don't consider drug dealers victims. Being a woman is basically living on easy mode. You know, you could always transition. Fun thing to do, gender swap the argument and he becomes a whiny feminist! To be fair, the moral right at the time had a madonna/whore complex and the sexual revolution just discovered the female orgasm. It would make sense people would focus on the women when half of society didn't want to believe women fucked. It can be a multitude of things. Time, place and tone of how you raise the issues. I wouldn't use my personal experience for example to show why someone is factually wrong. Initially I thought, hmm, what an incredibly sexist thing to say. Then I thought, if this or any other woman wants to go all WGTOW, all the more power. Really its the most kind and considerate thing a feminist could do for men, just as long as she never talks to or engage with another man ever, because I sure as hell would never want to deal with someone like this.

I'm not saying women are general are getting harassed. I'm saying prostitutes are less likely to have things like an assault against them investigated. Being a serial killer feasting on prostitutes is a good way to build up a body count with nobody noticing. Like gay men in decades past, they are considered "less dead." Legalization would offer them and their clients better protections.

That's true to a point, but the difference between Elam and say someone like Warren Farrell who was equally scorned in his day is tact, tone and intention. Elam was using tactics designed to shock. An alliance based on a common enemy is often one not built to last. See the US and Russia in WW2. Hunting them down at this point would be a huge time suck but if you really want it, it can try to do my best. As for the rest, the point of my arguments aren't to shift these things to men's rights arguments. It's how to address that particular point so it doesn't get off topic. For example, the feminist is trying to make an argument that either at…

This is a tough one I agree. More importantly, if its ever casual and not exclusive, the idea is you still want to use protection for personal safety. A FWB might still be seeing other people and that carries it's own risks. Even when they are certifiably clean, I wouldn't creampie a hookup unless it was requested because of all those risks to myself and them.

Part of me has been wanting to do a series of posts on ineffective arguments we make around here in an attempt to improve how we engage with men's issues. Things like how we react to "modest proposals" of regulation of mens bodies in the abortion debate and the dreaded "imagine if this were a woman" argument just miss the mark of how to engage with these topics and makes us look worse for it and the better arguments we should be making. Maybe when my kid settles down a bit I'll start working on …

Biden talking about helping women carries the same level of self awareness as whenever Roger Goodell talks about the integrity of the game. My favorite is when at the oscars, he introduced Lady Gaga's song about sexual assault survivors (which featured male and female victim representation, so kudos to her.) Nothing quite like a habitual groper calling men creeps.

When you ask "what's the difference" you are inherently comparing 2 things. And there is a huge difference between offering sex and trying to buy sex. You can put a child up for adoption, but it is socially unacceptable to go up to a couple and offer to buy their child. I'm also leaving this here, because its same problem and I want to see you defend Amy Heckerling in that thread. https://www.reddit.com/r/MensRights/comments/budg4w/chris_kattan_claims_lorne_michaels_pressured_him/?utm_medium=and…

I think you sound like your criteria for who deserves a defense comes down to who has a penis. Believe it or not, you can defend men's rights without defending every man out there. By Weinstein's own admission, on numerous occasions, he used the casting couch to get his jollies. That means at minimum he is at least guilty of egregious, and illegal, sexual harassment. Even if you don't want to call him a rapist, he's still not a good guy. OP literally compared these women to prostitutes. Its his …

I don't consider either to inherently be an ally. They just ally with us because then they can argue against their points with our issues as red herrings. They can be useful idiots to say the least but sometimes their arguments hurt us as much as our opposition.

I mostly agree, but the problem is there are ideological constraints that make it harder for it to be the case. There are plenty of feminists I like, and anyone who is truly for gender equality is an ally regardless of nomenclature. It's just unfortunate that feminism blinds people to the plight of men through myths like wage gap and patriarchy. It makes it too easy to forget that the grass isn't always greener and even a "privileged" person can have a legitimate gripe.

This isn't normal skepticism. When Quentin Tarantino married, his thought was in part relief she wouldn't have to be used by this guy again at the risk of not working. And these stories mostly developed independent of eachother. It was an open secret in Hollywood. There's videos of Seth MacFarlane joking about it years ago at oscar nominations. Sad thing is, abortion regulation like Alabama can be something that legitimately can negatively affect men in disporportionate ways. If a mother or- Louise Haigh MP, said it was "horrifying that even in proven cases of sexual assault, severe domestic abuse, rape, murder in some cases, men are still being encouraged and granted access to their child" Oh. Its mostly because feminism is positioned mostly on the left, and as a consequence a lot of right leaning people have adopted men's rights talking points to own the libtards. Equality of opportunity =/= equality of outcome. What feminism, and ultimately you, get wrong is that its about freedom of choice and freedom from judgement. If a woman wants to make her man a sandwich and be a stay at home mom with all the gender conformity, that's great. Feminism shouldn't shame her for that because it is a choice. If a man wants to do that, we shouldn't shame that either because he should have the choice, and not feel like male liberation comes at the behest of gender roles. …

I think a big problem is the increase in social capital mixed with Christian values of charity. We know we have to help the down trodden and we desire to be seen doing so. Ok, but most men aren't suicidal just most suicides are men. Part of the reason suicide among men is so high is because of how disproportionate these male dominated demographics are affected. Its helping men who need most need the help. See what I'm saying here? Its supporting our points about how these types of men are hurting without necessarily acknowledging it as a men's issue, but men who we want to get the help are getting it. So it's still a net win.

The majority of vetrans are men. Majority of farmers are men. There are more LGBT men out there than women. I found it funny when she claims these ideals are at odds with her feminist beliefs. Particularly given how skewed her perception of pedophilia is. That being said, I still have a problem with the satanic ritual aspect. It was something that was popular in the 80s and 90s. Give it that spin, which helped discredit it. Not necessarily. A legal definition of rape by fraud would identify a victim status that I imagine would offer better protections and might even make the perpetrator liable for damages. I thought it was mostly gender neutral. The main examples were gendered but they were extreme examples of very specific fraud style sex. But catfishing and stds as examples aren't gender specific examples. And trick seems like a weak word choice when they are talking about fraud. Tricking you into thinking your shoes are untied isn't fraud for example. So it sounds worse. Kinda a weasel word in an otherwise interesting think piece.

A lot of people either didn't read the article or don't understand, which a shame because it is a fascinating read that seems to treat rape by fraud in a neutral way. It mainly focuses on extreme fraud. For example, a few years ago a girl catfished her friend as a guy and convinced her to have sex blindfolded, where she used a strap on to have sex with her while she still thought she was a man. Should situations like that be considered rape and where to draw that line. Is not disclosing an std r…

Its a mixed bag. Its not about tricking people into sex per say but what do you have to disclose.
/r/MensRights25/04/19 01:33 AM

Someone didn't read the article... They discuss the slippery slope side of this but focus on things like sneaking into your neighbors dark bedroom and having sex with his wife while she thinks you're him. Not saying you're an ex football star to get a girl in bed. Its more about asking the difference between consent and assent in these situations and how do we differentiate between a manipulation that can destroy someone else's life and one that is just harmless.

Ok, your point? There also isn't a gay gene, and yet there isn't isn't much about nurture that explains that how that scatter plot works, nor do nature and nurture work at all separately from eachother in either instance. The point is, boiling down a rise in transgenderism to fatherless kids ignores the nature part of the equation. And ops theory still ignores all the nurture evidence suggesting it has less to do with parentage and more with friends groups. It's just a bizarre shower thought the…

Which has always been a flaw in psychology, especially kids, that has nothing to do with your hypothesis. The point is there is evidence of actual physical characteristics that go against what you're saying. It's not conditioning by a single mother that generates true transgenderism. Perhaps progressive parenting may be responsible for a bit of the illusion of increasing trans numbers, but overly progressive parenting isn't reserved for single mothers. There are plenty of progressive fathers as …

But is gender dysphoria one of them? There are a million and one reasons to encourage co-parenting. Psychological fads rarely are one of them.

But they aren't talking about soft sciences, they're talking about neuroscience. Brain scans don't lie. That is legitimate measurable evidence not as potentially faulty as psychological surveys or therapy sessions.

Part of that is an artificial rise due to social encouragement in girls, increased (and probably over) diagnoses due to awareness like we saw with adhd and bipolarism, and a less artificial rise with people coming out with greater perceived social acceptance. You're missing out on that the greatest rise is FTM which directly contradicts your more feminine society theory in large, unless you want to argue that this is the Elektra Complex going haywire in the absence of fathers where because daugh…

Is there data? No. Is there enough circumstantial evidence to the contrary? Yes. This sounds a lot like the argument that moms are turning their sons gay, which science proved as a false narrative. And since some data shows a lot of younger transgender youths move away from being trans towards gendered conforming homosexuals, I would imagine the sources of transgenderism aren't wildly different.

Yeah, class and vulgarity are really not related. The only reason we think so is because of how we pretend it is. Though, say swearing is considered vulgar, but studies show people that swear more are more honest. Probably because they are less adept at masking such vulgarities.
/r/MensRights23/04/19 07:56 PM

I'm saying this you this again in a different way: its not vulgarity of the lower class that is the target of me too. The initial aim was to disrupt male power, and that isn't the power of some construction worker on the street. That guy was already demonized for catcalling or whatever loooong before metoo was ever typed. Furthermore, there isn't a difference in vulgarity between classes. The vulgarity expressed in high culture is at the same level you see in low culture. What you see is either …

Education =/= loss of vulgarity. Shakespeare for example was vulgar as fuck. Same could be said of Voltaire, DeSade, Oscar Wilde. The war on vulgarity is generally about class, but its a war of false perception.

I think you're assuming some things about how vulgarity relates to classes. Often you'll find vulgarity as a stigma placed on lower class as a means of control, while middle and upper class engage in it all the same. If anything I think you'll find is MeToo as an attack on the middle class from the upper class, with most of the people affected in that class. The reason being is it puts controls on behavior that may stifle upwards momentum in ways that don't really apply to the lower class. Lower…

You're still lost on the overall point. Singing and video games are still the same in that they are relatively agender. In a sense the marketing of looks of one gender to a younger market of the opposite gender applies equally in both instances. My objection isn't with how exclusive a space is to invade, but rather with the implication that there is a gendering of a non-gendered market. It doesn't matter if its predominantly or mostly or whatever, the point is there is no territory to invade.

I swear to god, why is it some people think the best thing for women is to remove their agency in situations like this? I don't think she understands how egregiously misogynistic that statement is.

There are also different victim classes that are more likely to get positive or negative attention. Wait, how did she get into a position where she could be blackmailed by a 13 year old into oral sex? Seems she would have had to had to do something explicit with him prior? Or something unethical. In short, her story doesn't make much sense.

To be fair, this is a showcase for queer anarchists. The people going probably aren't looking to see garth brooks singing about tractors. And i generally don't have a problem with gender exclusive clubs as long as equal opportunity to found such clubs exists, with the same principles applying to these events. They probably could have said it nice. But again, queer anarcho punks. Its part of their marketable brand. Instead of railing on them for being sexist, rail on them for being sellouts.

I mean, personally, I would call Babadook an endorsement of domestic violence and this just an edgy meme. The overall point of edgy jokes is to shine light on bad stuff that actually exists to de-glorify it. In an instance like this it washes over the facade that abuse victims, particularly males with female perpetrators, put on. How its ridiculous to pretend nothing is wrong when it clearly is. It's counter intuitive, but the jokes about "falling down the stairs in her trailer" shows with femal…

Ok. So you want her fired. I find that harsh and a step in the opposite direction for society but if you want to be as draconian as the radfems in execution of equality, that's your prerogative. At least now, whether or not she should be fired is an actual debatable point. Addendum: just realize this means you can't ever complain about a man getting fired for similar trivialities from that stance, otherwise your encouraging a double standard.

You're just outraged over nothing. This is injecting sexism into a situation where there was none. Further more, what point is this invoking of the double standard trying to make? Do we wish people would be upset about this kiss or do we wish people would react this way if a male reporter accidentally kissed a girl? A better question is how would we like society to respond to this now and how we would like to see them react if the genders were reversed? Homer goes on more adventures. He's just gets more screen time because as a character he is more extroverted. He's just a more versatile character. Marge gets episodes where Homer is actually a better parent and there are families in springfield where the men are noticeably more capable than their wives. Sources: https://abovethelaw.com/2018/12/second-amendment-news-by-the-numbers-bump-stock-ban-makes-trump-more-of-a-gun-control-president-than-obama-ever-was/ Obama reduced gun restrictions. Trump increased. You talk about tone, but the direct actions still aren't correlative. In fact, I think the trend was true under Bush and Clinton as well. The logic I'm guessing is public pressures. With a democratic facing a gun violence event, dems are less uppity about guns and lobby less where the NRA is …

They're just jealous because we can get the job done. But serious question. Is it a higher percentage of women attempting or just more attempts? Because you could have a 5-1 ratio of attempts of men vs women and the same number of people involved. You can attempt suicide many times but only succeed once. The amount of people affected is ultimately probably equal. Another thing that makes my blood boil about this argument is it ignores the possibility that women have greater access to help, and t…

When they bring it up, say, "emotional labor? You mean empathy? Look, i get it. Having empathy can be hard, but if you call it emotional labor, you're probably just a sociopath." The reason you can't find resources on it is because it's a measure of human interaction that is made up and unquantifiable on the basis of its own subjectivity. There is a certain point where inclusivity lawsuits just begin to feel stupid. Where instead of teaching our kids that injustice may exist we all have to fight for equality regardless of how trivial the issue may be. I mean, is this more fair and equal? Probably. Yes, and I'm not entirely sure that's a good thing either.

If you aren't trolling, then you're just dumb with no sense of tact. It is better to be silent and thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Would you go to an asian american subreddit saying "hey, is this place for people looking to support asian Americans or just people who own nail salons and dry cleaners? Just asking because I don't own any suits." Your question insinuates stereotypes. So, you're either dumb with serious intent, in which, delete and try again, or you're a troll. Eit…

Batesville and family place operate multiple houses, including the two mens only shelters. If a place in the database says they serve men, they probably will put men up in a hotel to help them. Everyone should save that post because it is exhibit A of bad feminist behavior.

With Aileen, the primary characterization is she killed guys who assaulted her, which is a sick, twisted and wholly inaccurate take on it. It's like when the subject of bullying comes up in relation to Columbine. The person is so wrong in an egregiously harmful way that it's insulting to society.

Above all else, Gone Girl is about how narratives become reality. The images we sell and how we invest back into what we think others perceive. I think that is a common discussion around the movie, and I think a common narrative in the Men's Rights sphere. I don't think the movie is specifically Mens Rights, but a good example of the sort of things we are arguing against and have to be aware of when making our case. To a certain extent, we can also extrapolate the metaphor. Ben Affleck is repres…

Where in her post does she discuss that? Nowhere? Must be off topic then. Even bad people can have good ideas, and its the ideas we are here to discuss and illuminate.

Just because its something you don't perceive doesn't mean it isn't real. Not to mention there are social pressures which are inclined to make a guy feel guilty about not offering a seat. Granted, all of this stuff is the least of our worries, micro aggression bs is not my flavor. It's more of a funny meme about the perception of being a gentleman.

So it's sexist that they penalized a woman in order to rule in favor of a woman? That said, players throw tantrums all the time. Is it part of gender structures when a pitcher screams at an umpire over balls and strikes or Tom Brady slams his helmet down on the bench? No. Its either a good call or a bad call. The players are supposed to be passionate because they want to win. That's all it is. This is just idiots who know nothing about sports talking about sports.

Far from it. Rates of people who were never married remained virtually static until the 90s. That's thirty years from the sexual revolution through studio 54 through the coke orgy era. In fact in men specifically there was a drop in that percentage immediately following the sexual revolution. There's a different cultural shift that happened in the 90s, and that specifically speaks to the rising divorce rates tearing families apart. Suddenly marriage was a risk. That's the change that's more visi…

This article is terrible. They have the right idea that its all about risk/reward, but seriously? "Oh, men just want sex and women are whores now." F, you Fox News. Then saying we're all just afraid of becoming sitcom stereotypes where the woman isn't a good little housewife? F you again. This ratchet a** compiling of mens issues misses the point on every single claim. Its not that we want or need to take care of women, or want or need them to take care of us, its that we want respect in a relat…

It is told in flash back where there is a "spirited debate" with the central character saying it has fallen out of vogue but yielding to the parent in the scope of it being performed for religious and not aesthetic reasons. Not 100% against it, but at least it presents it as a debate where it isn't the fashionable choice that runs into the same road blocks it faces in the eye of the general public. That and enough to assume one of the more idealistic characters is against it.

Curcumcusion jokes never minimize the practice. Robin hood men in tights? You hear the guy who opted in screaming. Even in Glow, like you said, he's carried off kicking and screaming and left traumatized. It plays off of the furedian fear of castration and often labels it as it is as a form of genital mutilation. It's also worth noting, in GLOW it was both in a historical and religious context, with religious freedom as a primary aspect of the circumcision debate that has to be reconciled with. …

A. Im not going to complain about GLOW because the scene wasn't that bad. More of a jewish joke like in robin hood, men in tights. B. Circumcision jokes typically point out how barbaric the practice is. Like in the league, there's a joke about a botched circumcision and really, it makes guys cringe and I'm sure second guess getting their kids to be circumcised. C. There is some leeway granted because of how nuanced Bojack Horseman treated the circumcision issue. That said Netflix can be terrible…

...Or women who were uncomfortable with it said yes because of how they felt it would impact their careers which he was unable to possibly know because his manager was too busy protecting his client and the fact that those women said yes was linked to the behavior and not to his status. If he was getting proper negative feedback on this all along, the one rejection he got demonstrates behavior that shows he would have abandoned the approach. This is why there are rules of consent. It helps condi…

That's where its fetish as a disorder. He isn't engaging with sex like a normal person. Too many people said yes and normalized potentially dangerous behavior. Clearly it screwed with his understanding of power dynamics and clearly negatively impacted his life. It's not the healthiest behavior. It's also important to note this is a grade a example of where and how Feminism fails both men and women as an ideology. His actions were performed with the belief he had consent. In all likelihood, he suffers from exhibitionism as a paraphilic disorder. It's text book, right down to the way he handled the one recorded rejection. The rejection being key in demonstrating that he really did think he had authentic un-coerced consent. As creepy as behavior it is, the law exists so we can understand these situations and sort out the ones where there may be two equally legitimate and understandable sides to the story, a…

I hear more about male domestic abuse victims, I've heard of several male dv shelters being opened, male prison sentence disparity, now we are seeing some male sexual assault cases, and have Bojack Horseman joking about circumcision falling out of vogue. I think there is progress to be made. With an optimistic attitude and a strong focus on the issues (and less on our opponents) we can make real progress.

I think some people around here are getting pissy at this over semantics. The point is equality. It has nothing to do with false accusations and everything to do with erasure of male victims. It's calling out the double standard, not the standard of proof. It's a sign that men's issues are starting to get recognized in the public eye. Let's not piss all over a good thing because a tweet failed to capture the complete nuance of sexual assault accusations in 240 characters.

In improv, there's a very important principal called the "Yes, and" where progress to the scene is built upon what the previous person said. If we want to get rid of accusations of whataboutism, let's "yes and" the hell out of feminist arguments. Like with the male rape, "1/20 women will be sexually assaulted in their life." Should be responded to with, "which is utterly terrible. And the way as a society we treat rape is abhorrent. Most male victims don't ever come forward and when they do they…

It's funny because it's true. Aileen Wournos gets lionized as a damn feminist icon and victim despite being a certified psychopath. Golden rule should still apply. Who cares where it comes from. Justice has to be applied equally otherwise what are we fighting for? That said, I think there's still enough evidence that lines were crossed. This isn't an Asiz Ansari situation where it was an uncomfortable situation turned into accusations. This is statuatory rape on an underage minor, with hard evidence and witness testimony consistent with sexual assault situations. I think we have very good reasons to assume she did it. Finall…
