But did she communicate what she really wanted? He can’t read her mind 🙄

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/256072360_Wealth_and_the_Inflated_Self_Class_Entitlement_and_Narcissism Narcissism and entitlement is overly represented as SES increases.

Low SES doesn’t mean all of those things are or aren’t present.

Not a single one of your qualifications is met by someone simply having parents with higher SES. Not one.

Addiction doesn’t give even a small crap about your income levels. https://sunrisehouse.com/addiction-demographics/socioeconomic-groups/ Attachment styles are more reflective of the relationship you feel you have with your parents than divorce/marriage. https://www.verywellmind.com/attachment-styles-2795344 Yes, for many reasons, lower SES can mean more trauma, stress, etc. It’s important to remember than attachment styles often change as we age. Avoidant children can and do become secure adults…

That’s quite a blanket statement. 🧐😶 There are far too many variables that lend to attachment styles, and attachment style research has criticism that you may want to consider before putting too much stock into it. Like anything else, we need to look further upstream - what led to parent divorce? What type of custody was in place? How old were the kid/s at time of divorce? Was it a single child or were there siblings? Did the kids have other strong supports and attachments? Was coparenting succe…

Mistake? Please elaborate. I see women say men made mistakes when what really happened was that a man chose actions that were not excusable. Actions require making choices. The man CHOSE to treat them poorly. Forgiveness is okay, but it doesn’t have to come with you sacrificing your dignity, boundaries, and standards. If you chose, or he chose, to end the relationship due to a ‘mistake’ keep it ended. Stay closed. You can forgive and move on. That’s life. We make mistakes and move on with new kn…

Alpha meaning the first. 1. Alpha can mean top, most important, but by definition is Greek number noted as 1. So, low value, even numerically. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Men who have to prey on women, scheme, manipulate, or reach into animal instinct to get a partner? And pay some dude to tell them how? Pitiful.

‘I’m 40 but everyone (his mama maybe) says I pass for 27 or 30 at the very top’. Gotta love OLD.

Do basic housekeeping chores together, all 3 of you. Make sure dad is messaging that he is doing chores for the house, not to help you. Talk about feelings - watch movies and along with your husband, discuss the characters in depth. Make sure you’re not making this a female vs male perspective. Talk about how you and the hubby team things, how you support one another. Dad needs to message respecting you and support it by actions. Do the same for your hubby. Talk about how you and your hubby mana…

If they show you they don’t respect ‘no’, believe them. Continuing to pursue you after no is NOT persistence, it’s not romantic, it’s proof of their narcissism.

I’m more concerned that you’re looking online for validation, approval, or attention. It looks desperate. Also, you’re very attractive. Quit with the LV behavior. 🤷‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️

Control is at play here -when he chooses when or what to respond to...then you’re crazy when you ask him for more information -He gives you tidbits to obsess over, so he’s on your mind constantly and is in control. Block and move on.

I think there is hope for single parents, but like any dating keeping your standards high is key. And as moms we have to keep them even higher, more selective, ready to move on sooner/at any sigh of depravity. It’s hard.

My best advice is to NOT date until dating is not the first thing you’re thinking of. Thoughts of installing an app and swiping on your mind on and off all day? Not ready. Thoughts of messaging an ex or acquaintance hard to suppress? Not ready. If you start dating before you’re okay with just your own company, you’re at risk of settling.

Before this sub I recognized my choices (staying in a marriage) were crap. I wish this sub would have existed at that time. I now find in this sub validation in the choice I made to level up and quit trying to raise my ex husband into adulthood and to stop all my pickme behavior. I forgave myself for my previous behavior and continue to read this sub weekly to reinforce my own standards and look for ways to teach this philosophy to my daughters.

Maybe I’m interpreting her message differently? I feel like what she is saying is more - have friends and supports outside a romantic relationship - invest in yourself - find meaning outside of romantic relationships and work - make meaningful connections outside of work and romantic relationships - social media is distancing - don’t count on support from just one person Basics of a fulfilling life. I also see her setting the bar low for a romantic partner, which I don’t agree with at all. It’s …

...men make no drama. Bwahahhaaaa. I had male friends. Friendly male coworkers.... Please, please ask me why that is past tense... After (or even during) my divorce, with the exception of maybe 1 single male in that category. 87%... ALL of those asshats hit on me. For sex, dating, or otherwise. Fuc}%rs!! I’ve never felt more betrayed or disillusioned as I was during that time. Frick that. I was faithful to my LVex and never once put out any vibes to support girlfriend or hookup zoning me. I’m st…

My bestie would say no. She talks about unstable low value women who make little effort to woo her, don’t clean up after themselves, have poor social skills, want her to be their therapist, and are looking for a meal ticket. Also, online dating , she gets unsolicited boob pics. The dating pool is pretty small, too. The one thing she doesn’t worry about as often/much when dating women is violence, stalking, and being sexually assaulted, at the level she does when she dates men. That’s a big diffe…

Men who are in relationships with regular sex (married, coupled, etc) rape. Rapists come from all walks of life and don’t all look like ‘incels’ or ‘neck beards’. Celebrities rape. Famous athletes. Musicians. These people have access to sexual partners and are appealing to others. Yet they choose to rape.. Rape is about power and depersonalization, is ego centric, depraved and narcissistic. Women also rape, so let’s not for a second buy into the idea that rape is in any way caused by being ‘deni…

empathic boundaries / codependent traits I recommend reading more about boundaries between empathy/empath traits and codependency. That is not to suggest that your self assessment of being an empath is incorrect or to invalidate this in any way; the reading includes valuable tips on how to help build or refine boundaries, thus helping to squash out taking caregiver roles with LVM.

Police officers or corrections in general (DV rates are significantly higher), and more listed in linked article below. https://www.cbc.ca/doczone/m/features/psychopaths-top-10-and-bottom-10-professions On personal note, I wouldn’t date anyone who works in mental health (which is my field) as I’ve found so many men in the field to be maladjusted and a bit on the narcissistic side. Also agree with comments above in regards to teachers. I’ve dealt with more messed up parents messing up their kids …
