Yeah that's odd. According to the National Criminal Victimization Survey, victimization of males has only recently fallen below that of females, and the difference is relatively small.

this post presupposes many things to be true that BPers do not agree with, such as biological determinism (AWALT, or what you call female sexuality), and all the things that come as a result of that you have to establish these contexts before you can use them as facts

Plenty. Only one's ever asked me out though, and there's only a few I've ever been interested in.

1: Higher levels of dread. Purposely making your SO afraid and insecure to get more [insert behavior here] out of her breaks the golden rule. 2: Amused mastery. Condescension is rude. Especially when it's being used to downplay what your SO considers to be a key problem with the relationship. 3: General misogyny. A significant portion of TRP has it in for women, and that hate spreads like a cancer. 4: Concept of "LMR." While it is true that some women will be hesitant at first when things are he…

So what if it is? Having sex with a raw chicken from the grocery store is gross and weird, but not necessarily immoral.

You and I will have to agree to disagree on the effectiveness of the counter arguments. The sources did back my claim, and being self reported does not immediately disqualify the results of a study.

First off, it's been proven that men are the more narcissistic gender, so this "inflated sense of self worth" is out. Second, like attracts like. Men and women tend to marry people who are similar to them, in personality, social class, wealth, etc. None of what you're saying is true.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/06/17 07:21 PM

No, it's just a regular murder-suicide. Unless you're including the other woman... just remember to ask her if she knew.

Yeah, but they seem to conflict with the whole self interest thing. If you can coerce someone into something you want, or can acquire something through aggression, and get away with it, why not do it?

I understand that, but some ethics aren't up for debate. Killing my wife for free money for example.

Will so! If I can get a general consensus on what morality means to RPers, I can hold them to those moral standards.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/17 09:56 PM
2

Yeah I'm still having trouble separating this objectivism from the dank triad. Everything I find seems to reinforce the idea that it focuses on self-interest above all else.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/17 09:54 PM

Does this mean you view morality as irrelevant, and instead choose whatever benefits you regardless of the costs to others?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/17 09:53 PM

Minimizes chaos... so it exists to better society? This seems to be the general consensus so far...
/r/PurplePillDebate25/06/17 09:51 PM

Then what's the use of empathy, if morality is designed to create it? (kinda doubt that btw)

Well, in mine, the happiness of the collective should take priority over the individual, and that's where empathy/morality come in.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/17 01:01 AM
2

You sure? I think morality has changed a lot of human sexual behavior, or at very least affected it from day one. And I fail to see a reason why any pattern of behavior shouldn't be subject to moral criticism.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/17 12:54 AM
2

Suggesting I'm trying to play God because I'm pushing a moral framework is nonsense. And I think you've misinterpreted my point. I've acknowledged that morality is what humanity makes of it, rather than by the word of God, and have thus suggested a framework that benefits humanity as a whole. My reasoning for this is that cooperation and rules are one of the key components of human evolutionary success.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/17 12:47 AM
2

Yeah, in order to discuss morals at all we have to agree on some basis for it. Or at very least, acknowledge its necessity. So far, you've shot down my attempts at moral criticism by pointing out how it's difficult to define morality, but common sense (or empathy) tells us that it's generally wrong to do certain things, as it will interfere with the happiness of society in general. This has always been the evolutionary and practical point of morality. To suggest that morality can't be applied to…
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/17 12:45 AM
2

We have to agree on some base level of morality otherwise we have nothing we can discuss. "Harmonious," at least in my opinion, means the greatest amount of happiness for the greatest number of people.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/06/17 12:32 AM
3

Saying sexual strategy is amoral is a statement that the sexual and reproductive drive does not care about morality. The sidebar says otherwise. Also, sexual strategy and sexual desire are two different things, and strategy can be morally evaluated.

Morality, by secular definition, is what's supposed to get us to that harmonious society, or at least as close as possible. Therefore, actions that deliberately move us away are immoral.

The sidebar seems to think so. And almost all TRP advice is subject to moral consideration. Your second paragraph doesn't address my point. I've argued that amorality is an excuse to justify immorality. Rather than refute that, all you've done is claim amorality again.

Some discrimination may be a result of toxic masculinity, yes, but this isn't the way I'd choose to think about it. I think we should be okay with male homosexuality because it doesn't hurt anybody, and pursuing that lifestyle makes some people happy.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/06/17 09:08 PM

First of all I'm far from neutral about sexuality. Heh heh. Heh. Second as for what get me going... I can't be sure. I'm sexually attracted to dominant women but romantically attracted to the shy ones who are like me. Wonder who I'll end up with.

/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/17 06:16 PM
4

What? How? This is the most upfront way to present it. Only a fool would assume that the majority of this statistic is rape.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/17 11:55 AM
6

Because rape is a form of sexual assault, and the studies want to make it clear that rape is being included among the sexual assault statistics.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/06/17 10:26 AM
1

You sure about that? Cause I've never had any of those ideas.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/17 12:21 AM

RP isn't a big enough portion of society (thankfully) to affect suicide rates meaningfully so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here Also a source would be nice on that claim about suicide/depression
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/17 12:20 AM
1

That isn't quite what was said in that post. The idea was that "be yourself, but follow social norms" is perfectly acceptable advice for the majority of the population. The point on "nuance" was not part of the advice, but instead an attack on how TRP interprets the actions/words of women. It's not quite comprehensive, as there are some things you can do to almost objectively be more attractive (lift groom confidence etc).
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/17 12:12 AM

Actually I just want all other men killed
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/17 10:51 PM
2

Hey, I made those comments you claim fail to understand nuance! Anyway, thing is, a lot of RPers do see those tactics the way I described. It's a pretty wide range of opinions, and your interpretation, based on my reading of TRP, is not the majority.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/17 06:18 PM
3

If even one person abandons the more harmful RP tactics, the world will be a better place.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/17 06:14 PM
1

Not inspiring at all. It suggests that women are forces of nature who shouldn't be held responsible for their actions, and that the man is somehow responsible for the woman cheating. Nothing short of absurd.

Whether TRP works or not is irrelevant, because many of its tactics are immoral. Dread is designed to cause the woman to fear for the relationship, and get her to sex you more. Negging is designed to hurt their self esteem, and convince her that you hitting on her is something she should be grateful for. Amused mastery is designed to cause her to feel like she's not being taken seriously, like a child. Pile on the disrespect for women that TRP tends to produce (or attract?) and that's a recipe f…

Femininity in men is perceived as negative. Doesn't necessarily make it so.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/17 10:43 PM
2

Society exaggerates gender differences. The biological differences are what got gender roles started off, yes, but the reason countries without feminism don't have as many women in high positions (Rwanda excepted) is because they're still bogged down in those ancient stereotypes. Most men assume leadership because it's what they're on earth for, leading their own lives, finding a woman to bear his children and join his life. Nature doesn't design redundancy much, it designs specialization meant …

/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/17 10:13 PM

Oh, so it's just what you're attracted to. That's alright. I thought you meant that men as a rule shouldn't show any traditionally feminine qualities.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/17 06:06 PM
2

What makes you think that? I think we shouldn't require any gender specific traits.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/17 05:48 PM
3

Most of the this post is one of the reasons to practice feminism. The age old gender role of the dominant man, as I think you imply here, is an unfair expectation to place on an entire gender of people. Third wave feminism generally wants to reduce or eliminate gender roles. As for the "hypocrisy" argument, that's just nonsense. Nobody can control what's attractive to them, so hypocrisy is impossible. Attraction isn't a decision. Also, might wanna do some research on the idea that women are more…

The problem here isn't him "reading too much into things;" the problem is that this reasoning is just not anchored in reality, and I'm pretty sure you know it. Don't post suggestive questions intended to lead us to conclusions, go for the throat and state your claim outright!

Just say it out loud: this interpretation is bullshit and concocted specifically to fit in with TRP worldview, instead of acknowledging that women don't all want to be raped or dominated by high value men. Here is the problem: American women are the best informed and most self-determining human beings in the world. To say that they are manipulated into their life choices by forces beyond their control is divorced from reality and demeaning, to boot. Here's the part I take issue with. To suggest that people are immune to the subtle effects of gender socialization is what's truly divorced from reality. One needs only take a look around to see that both men and women are generally influenced by gende…

By citing the statistic that men cheat more than women. http://www.statisticbrain.com/infidelity-statistics/ The fact that men cheat more, despite women being choosier in relationships, shows that this logic doesn't hold up.

Hi Paarthurnax
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/17 01:56 AM

Not if the act, like the one I referred to in the beginning, was immoral in itself. Amorality breeds immorality. A book on mushrooms could be used for moral purposes, and is much more likely to be.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/17 01:55 AM
1

The audience of TRP has a significant portion of people who are hostile towards women. This means a par of that group may attempt to use that immoral technique. It'd be like discussing ways to make explosives on a website with a significant jihadist population.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/17 01:04 AM
1

I don't think that's a good comparison. We're not speaking to an audience of people highly likely to commit that murder, and we're not practiced killers, so odds are we'll get it wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/17 12:54 AM
1

So, in this way, TRP has the potential to give potential abusers the tools to more effectively abuse?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/17 10:45 PM
1

Bit of a gotcha question for you, then. Let's say a method of hurting a person was discovered that could not be medically proven. Let's also say that hurting a woman in this way would cause her to have sex with you more. Would TRP allow this on their subreddit?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/05/17 10:42 PM

I wanted to show that, in the context of actual relationships, rather than stated preferences, like tends to attract like, and therefore, the "hypergamous sluts" who'll leave you for a better man at the drop of a hat number few.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/05/17 03:30 PM
5

Hey, it's ya boy hugmuffin I think you misunderstood me or something. I wasn't trying to say that hypergamy doesn't exist, because it does. I was saying that it must not affect relationships to the degree that TRP claims it does. To that end, I posted a study that shows that not only are relationships typically composed of similar social status, but also shows that elements within that status (such as wealth, intro/extroversion, etc) were more likely to be similar as well. Like attracts like.

Because there are certain objective definitions of feminism that are undeniably true if an individual professes certain beliefs, especially for the first and second wave. So, according to the paper, the two main problems affecting social sciences (and possibly academia at large) are the "pay to publish" model of academic journalism, and political/moral motivations of those doing the studies. That last bit was unnecessary. As for that idea, however, that's where my second source comes in. Men score higher in two of the three behavioral traits related to narcissism, and for the third, the genders are about the same. This suggests that both NPD and general narcissism are higher in men.

Alright I went through those sources. Lemme address them in order. 1: I'm not sure why you linked this. Most studies in this collection seem to support my point. They espouse the idea of gender symmetry between abusers. 2: This says women are mostly the cause of nonreciprocal violence. This means it isn't representative of all abuse, and therefore isn't as useful as the first source, or my source, for representing relationship aggressors. 3: See #2

Hm. Got mixed feelings about this article. First off: this doesn't seem healthy. I doubt that this is actual polyamory, cause it looks to me like an attempt to save their sinking marriage. I don't think the man is really okay with this. He just sees no other way to keep his wife. A shame. He'll be unhappy for a long while. I can't help but wonder about this when it comes to consensual non-monogamy. But what about those who decided to be polyamorous from the very beginning?

Meanwhile in real life: Despite numerous studies that report the preponderance of domestic violence is perpetrated by men against women, other empirical studies suggest that rates of domestic violence by women and men are equivalent. Suggesting that each and every divorce that wasn't a result of abuse was an example of a woman being lazy and not caring to consider changes to the relationship is utterly, completely, entirely ridiculous. There are any number of circumstances or thought processes that may have lead to it; suggesting that it's always this specific reasoning is ludicrous without some sort of proof.

Agreeableness from a psychological standpoint is entirely different. Agreeableness is a personality trait manifesting itself in individual behavioral characteristics that are perceived as kind, sympathetic, cooperative, warm and considerate.[1] In contemporary personality psychology, agreeableness is one of the five major dimensions of personality structure, reflecting individual differences in cooperation and social harmony.

Regaining her interest? Doesn't dread rely on interest that's already there? The way I understand it, dread is making your s/o feel afraid you're going to leave, and this fear would cause her to do things for you that she normally wouldn't. If she weren't interested, she wouldn't care. The gist of it is that you're attempting to hurt your s/o to elicit some sort of behavior, purely for yourself. It doesn't strengthen the relationship, but instead draws on that strength to make her do things for …

Wikipedia definition of slut shaming: In human sexuality, slut-shaming is a form of social stigma applied to people, especially women and girls, who are perceived to violate traditional expectations for sexual behaviors. Some examples of circumstances wherein women are "slut-shamed" include violating dress code policies by dressing in perceived sexually provocative ways, requesting access to birth control, having premarital, casual, or promiscuous sex, engaging in prostitution, or when being vic…

Data trends in the direction of women wanting more dominant men during ovulation. Not hypergamy, but attraction to traditional "manliness." They're only useful if the basis the reasoning rests on is factually correct. Take mathematics for example. If we take the factually correct statements 1+1=2, and 3=1+1+1, we can assume based on those that 1+2=3. If we take the factually incorrect statement 1+1=3, and the factually correct statement 4=1+1+1+1, we would assume that 4=1+1+3. This would be incorrect. So, the lesson here is that the base facts that reason and logic are based on must be proven, or we'll come to incorrect conclusions …

You know, if you think about it, if feminists truly wanted equality, they'd consent to everyone, since women are at such an advantage in the sex industry.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/04/17 09:45 PM

You know, since all women are hypergamous, we can assume they all want it if this guy was a high enough value male. Does rape even exist at all?

The ignorance and projection in this post is nothing short of astronomical. It's quite clear you've done no research and assume your perspective is the only one that exists. http://thoughtcatalog.com/lorenzo-jensen-iii/2014/08/19-men-share-stories-of-being-raped-by-a-woman-nsfw/ http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/09/living/chris-brown-female-on-male-rape/ https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/sv-datasheet-a.pdf

You want an objective solution. I'm saying there isn't one. There's only that which will make you more attractive to most men, and even that's debatable.

I'm not a fan of this whole "SMV" rating scale to begin with. I've got very unusual tastes in women. I'm into certain things that would turn other men off, like strength, unique styles of dress (that TRP would associate with Tumblr feminists), etc. I think of myself as living proof that an objective rating scale doesn't exist.

9/11 conspiracy theorists have a system. The birthers had a system. Moon landing deniers have a system. Everyone wants to defeat cognitive dissonance, and thus systems are created. Just because they are logically consistant doesn't make them logically correct. And yes, I do think you're making up many of your assertions. That which is presented without evidence should be dismissed without evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/04/17 05:14 PM

Just because it's a system that closes all its loops doesn't make it factually correct. You really did just make this up.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/04/17 04:23 PM

You got a lot of claims and not a lot of evidence here. Got any backup, or can I assume you just made this up on the spot?

Perhaps the motivation was virtue signaling. But that's not why the argument was incorrect. It was incorrect (in the case of the height thing) because it was factually incorrect.

I agree.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 06:55 PM

I think this will be a net loss for TBP, and society as a whole. TRP will surge, what with all of the people who have similar beliefs being introduced to it. That's unfortunate. On the other hand, women who are aware of RP tactics will be more likely to recognize them, and take the steps necessary to avoid them. This will be good, but I doubt a large number of them will be interested enough to look into RP in greater detail.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 03:29 PM

Here's the wikipedia definition: Virtue signalling is the conspicuous expression of moral values by an individual done primarily with the intent of enhancing that person's standing within a social group. The term was first used in signalling theory, to describe any behavior that could be used to signal virtue – especially piety among the political or religious faithful.[1] Since 2015, the term has become more commonly u…

Virtue Signalling refers to the public expression of an opinion on a given topic primarily for the purpose of displaying one’s moral superiority before a large audience to solicit their approval. Online, the practice is often associated with various platitudes shared on social media that proclaim one’s political affiliation or stance on a variety of hot-button issues related to social justice; it has been criticized by some as a shallow attempt at improving social status within a particular grou…

/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 02:02 AM

I think a better way to address an empty statement like that is to call it out for what it is: an empty statement. Making claims about the motivations of such a statement isn't a rebuttal in itself.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:34 AM
5

Alright, that's one way to think about it. Which brings up another point: how do you determine whether or not the person's motivation for posting the argument was an attempt to appear virtuous? More importantly, why does that matter? Whether the person believes his argument or not doesn't change how true/false it might be.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:31 AM
3

What's different about your definition and mine? Looks the same to me, minus the "lack of activism" clause on your end. And the main point remains untouched: it's not an argument. It's a deflection.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:29 AM

Whether this is rape or not doesn't seem relevant to me. It's morally wrong: end of story.

/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:25 AM

Virtue signalling is a term sometimes used by the alt right to describe those they believe to be motivated by a desire to look virtuous to post arguments. In short, it's the idea that someone's reason for posting an argument is to look good on the internet.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:23 AM
2

Equally ineffective.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/04/17 12:16 AM
2

So what if it isn't evolutionarily beneficial? That doesn't make it abnormal or unnatural. This thread seems to me like an attempt to delegitimize attractions that don't fit the RP norm (ie male attraction to masculine women) to close more loops in their narrative. So, other attractions must be... deviant, and therefore can be dismissed. Could be wrong on this motivation, though.

If the problem is with attraction, yes, communication alone won't be enough. Action will need to be a part of it. But communication will bring the required components into the light.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 05:55 PM
1

You and I will have to disagree on this, because I think there's plenty of ways to bring up what you want from the relationship without underhanded tactics and instilling a feeling of fear. Mature adults can discuss the problems in their relationships without fear, and make resolutions/compromises to fix them.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 05:54 PM
1

Attraction is never able to be negotiated like you imply I don't think that. Communication is done through dread game, not trying to speak your way into a woman wanting you and respecting you. Nuh uh. Communication is done through communication.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 05:49 PM
1

An ultimatum needn't be hostile. It's a simple acknowledgement that you've reached an impasse in a relationship. Not her fault, and not yours. You just want different things. And the condescension comes from the tone, not the argument. Don't deny it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 05:45 PM
1

You give reasoning based on unproven premises. "All women are/do x. Therefore, y and z must be true." where x is unsupported and unproven. Like I said: you expect us to take your word for it.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 05:38 PM

/r/PurplePillDebate25/04/17 01:31 PM

Bit of a false dichotomy there. The third option is to realize you and the other aren't compatible and begin the search for a woman who's willing to give what you want to the relationship.

As for this study... Even the writers conclude that the differences range from small to moderate. Clearly the average personalities of men and women are systematically different. Trying to get a better understanding of how the world works isn't the same as trying to control it. I'm pretty sure you've used this line before, it reeks of projection more than anything. I haven't used this before. Terps, and misogynists in general, struggle with abstract thinking. They like to think that systemizing types is based in truth, but in reality is just a way they attempt to control the world they live in. There's no advantage to this supposed "systemization" when it's based on demonstrably false premises. They're just brick walls for normies to bash their heads against. Terps basically only exist for sex.

The issue we have with TRP methodology is that we think it's immoral. I figured this went without saying. "But HugMuffin, there's no objective morality" No, there isn't. But we can devise a system of morality that's mutually beneficial to humanity as a whole. That's where morality came from. That's why empathy is such a beneficial trait. Break this system, and the populace becomes more at risk. For this reason, we BPers try to uphold the system morality that we generally share.

Well, since the stats indicate that there are more unmarried men than women, it may follow to assume that men must be the pickier ones. Course, any number of confounding variables exist that might explain that. Maybe men are just less inclined to marry... further research is required.

Oh boy more personal experience instead of evidence And before you say "oh it's a social trend you can't get evidence for that," see this. The first chart shows that more men than women are unmarried above the age of 25. However, the second chart suggests that women have more strict standards, at least according to the five standards surveyed. Despite this, it's men that are unlikely to be unmarried. Curious. Also: 44.9% of the unmarried population aged 18 and older are female. For every 100 unm…

For example, if I made the faulty assumption that RP men must have had abusive mothers, I can come to the equally faulty conclusion that RP men may have a lack of empathy towards women because of their childhood experiences. That's no study. Not even close. Though I do agree that higher testosterone can be linked to more aggression, which seems like it would influence negotiation. As for your second statement, gender role socialization is absolutely a factor in modern gender roles. Sociologists generally agree that modern gender roles are a result of socialization grossly exaggerating biological differences. And these biological differences are rarely significant.

feminism has completely buttfucked research into bias It looks like you're using this as a way to instantly dismiss all evidence that's contrary to your point of view. As for that concession, preference is certainly a part of it, but I don't think that preference is necessarily inborn. Women are socialized against STEM fields, especially in more traditional areas, so this may be a result of gender roles.

Employers are unlikely to pay a woman less consciously. Nobody wants to be a misogynist (save for a few here, which is why I feel the need to debate on PPD), but subconscious internalization of gender stereotypes may affect hiring. its because they take more time off, dont strive, dont negotiate for higher salaries as aggressively or frequently, choose lower paying lower prestige careers, a whole host of things Yeah, these reasons exist. Minus the "don't strive" thing. But I'd argue that they're likely a result of gender roles. Women are less likely to negotiate as hard because they've been socialized to be passive and accommodating. Women are less likely to aim at higher paying jobs (read: STEM) because they're not encour…

/r/PurplePillDebate19/04/17 12:08 AM

Women will often be paid less because they're less likely to negotiate. This is a side effect of society's view that women are supposed to be passive and accommodating, thus causing them to be socialized to act this way, leading to less negotiation. Also, there's plenty of discrimination in the workplace in higher paying jobs, according to this study.

Good idea! Except there's no evidence for that. Can't prove a negative. Burdon of proof is on TRP to show evidence that sex ruins women somehow, and it's going to have to be something more than "personal experience."

First off, when you get sheer unadulterated manliness like mine, you don't need to worry about what a reddit username is going to do to it. Second, I suggested the different format because the CMV format affected how I responded to your thread. The format is important, here.

Probably should've presented it as a question then, instead of a CMV.

I meant to imply that sex would be included in that relationship. Guess there was a misunderstanding. Ain't nothing wrong with wanting more sex out of a relationship, but amused mastery won't get you there. In fact, the evidence suggests it'll destroy your relationship.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/17 06:31 AM
3

Oh yeah? Well I say men are more shallow, more sleazy, and much more vulgar than women! If anything, they're way more likely to lie. You can see the problem with the above statement, right? I've got no evidence to back it. I just made it up. The same issue exists with your AWALT assumption. Provide some support, or your point isn't worth considering.

Sex is almost always an essential part of a relationship. Don't put words in my mouth.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/17 06:27 AM

It sounds like you're projecting your feelings onto us based on your experiences, and your experiences alone. The world is much bigger than you, and I don't mean to be rude in saying so. If you want to present a compelling case, you'll need some support in the form of research.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/17 06:26 AM
2

If you can come up with evidence communicating leads to an increase in the frequency of sex or oral sex, or has a lower incidence of dead bedrooms, that would be much more convincing evidence. I suppose it depends on what you want from a relationship. Do you want a bond; a relationship, or are you looking for warm holes? Cause I'm pretty sure they sell the latter at adult shops.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/17 06:24 AM

Not according to the professionals. Remember, a survey of one hundred medical health experts came to the conclusion that women who report communication problems state a lack of validation of opinions or feelings. This giggle you talk about, according to research, probably doesn't happen, and if it does, odds are it's not a mirthful one.

Provide some support, or your point isn't worth considering.

In an ideal, impossible world, gender roles and gender specific expectations wouldn't exist. If you want to adhere to these arbitrary roles, fine. If not, don't. Freedom to pursue happiness. Marriage should be whatever the couple (or more) make of it. Whatever makes them happy, as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others. Government role is a tremendously complex topic, and I'm not sure how to comment on it unless it's related to a single issue.

Burdon of proof is on the one making the claim. He's got no proof, nor support. The ball is in his court here. Suggesting that asking for a source on a debatable claim that is factual in nature (ie "there are no women in high skill jobs that do not require a degree) isn't a valid approach is nonsense.

The only new things I've learned about TRP is that they tend to have varying interpretations of key terms, like dread game and pushing through LMR. Seems to me like an attempt to explain away smart women. "Oh, see, they're all submissive housewives deep down, it just takes the right alpha to draw that out." No supporting evidence for that sweeping generalization. No reason to take that claim seriously. Also, the post contradicts the TRP idea of traditional gender roles being what's best for society. Don't you dare imply I don't think about this stuff. We all do here. As for your argument, I disagree that a lack of resistance implies consent. I think it is. Just because you've consented to one intimate thing (kissing, cuddling, laying in bed together, etc) doesn't mean you've consented to another. For example, it's entirely possible that someone might want to make out in bed, but not have sex. When it comes to consent, I always endorse the "rather safe than sorry" approach.

Hey, I made that post! Only makes sense I should have a comment. I agree. If she's unable to voice a lack of consent, it's probably a bad idea to get into intimate situations with him. However. This does not mean that if the man (or woman. Modern times and all) proceeds without consent, it isn't a rape. The woman certainly made a mistake by trusting this guy not to take it beyond her boundaries, but only the man is actually making the move without receiving consent. I worry you're about to blame…

By your logic, someone could say yes if they're afraid, making it rape even though they said yes, in which case it's impossible to prove it was rape. I'm a bigger fan of the verbal consent model myself. A universal standard that's reasonable enough to ensure that both participants are into it and successfully remove the ambiguity from the process. Still, we have to draw the line somewhere.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/17 03:35 AM

I suppose, but there has to come a point where consent is universally considered communicated. Otherwise, we risk having that uncomfortable ambiguity present in all sexual interaction.

The reason for the "better safe than sorry" approach to consent is for this reason stated above: even adults can be caught up in unfamiliar situations. To compensate for this, verbal consent is a must. Human fallibility is a thing, you know, and it has to be taken into account when involving oneself in such intimate activity.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/04/17 03:24 AM

Any point during sex, you can withdraw consent and any sex thereafter is rape. You cannot withdraw consent during sex and call all previous sex rape. And isn't the 'clearly communicated' part very important? Yeah, that's true. 0

No, NO! You cannot withdraw consent after the fact. That is not how things work, legally or morally. Yes you can. At any point during sex with consent, that consent can be withdrawn, as long as it's clearly communicated. If she doesn't have enough time to determine the consequences of that sex, that is in no way shape or form, the man's fault. Oh yes it is. Your 🐹 is impressive, but your logic is insane Yeah, yeah, we both think the other is delusional, I know. If she's using sex to keep a guy then that's not fucking rape then is it? She's not sure of what's going on. Like I said: things are moving too quick. There's no time to make a calm, rational decision when tension is high, and escalation is happening despite her not giving the okay.

Exactly! So being too scared to resist means you aren't making your consent or lack of consent highly apparent. It's the job of the partner to receive that enthusiastic consent, or risk having sex with her/him when she doesn't want it. Rape. This can affect the man or the woman. I'd prefer not to spend the time watching it, and this so called "balanced review" is hosted on a site that's clearly antifeminist in nature. Just look at one of the politics pages. As for your rebuttal to the criticism of the protest scenes, those people who filmed those protesters had equal motivation to focus on the extremes, so the point still stands.

I severely doubt that an individual coming from an anti-feminist perspective could give a balanced take on this issue. nvm Alright, now that I've done the research, I've concluded that this film was certainly biased in favor of men's rights/RP ideas. I would not phrase like this, because in terms of 'privilege' men still have all of those concrete markers of it -- unique ''issues'' perhaps? What do you mean by this, specifically?

I don't think this is the place for this line of questioning. This subreddit is for debating and discussing red pill ideas, not randomly naming signs that a woman is problematic.

This is a response to a strawman. Blue pillers don't believe that red pill tactics will fail 100% of the time. Try it on enough targets and eventually it will work.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/17 01:47 AM

I can see the point you're trying to make: if a man did that, it would be creepy. Gotta agree, men are expected to want it, and thus, sexual assault by women goes by the wayside. Oh, and this is absolutely sexual assault. She has no way to guarantee that those men want to be sidled up on by some random woman.

It means having to qualify a lot of statements or setup a really good context first before targeting the issue so there is less room for straw type interpretations. I feel you hit the nail on the head on this one. I have a lot of trouble when I try to establish that context, too.

You can not "debunk" The Red Pill, it is simply a description based on pragmatic reality. The underlying theory is descriptions. I disagree. I think many of the conclusions they come to are wrong.

So? What if you coincidentally lived in a social group of women who liked feminine looking men? Your anecdotal experience would've been wrong.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/17 03:06 AM

I find actual research more convincing. Social sciences are an immensely complicated study, but put in the effort and you'll find plenty of statistics and science that either support or debunk TRP.

I disagree. See, I already know most if not all of the TRP ideas, and those are what PPD discusses the merits of. I'm learning the linesnof reasoning that lead people to TRP conclusions, but no new mindsets themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 08:32 PM
7

Yeah. Post quality is definitely a problem. Lots of people will make assumptions without anything to back it, vitriol is an uncommon theme in the discussion (I'm guilty too, and working on that), leading questions, etc. As for what mods can do about it: nothing, really. If you tried to filter out posts of low quality, we wouldn't have any.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 06:20 PM

I was being sarcastic. Rude of me, tbh, but I wanted to illustrate why I find personal accounts in the PPD setting unreliable. We're all biased, and therefore each anecdote is vulnerable to that bias. For that reason, they're not viable evidence. Also you need a larger sample size than anecdotes can provide to establish a pattern.

The data in that source disproves the idea that dread is needed to maintain a relationship without cheating. The stat in question that does this is that only 68% of women would cheat if they knew they wouldn't be caught. This means 32% would not cheat even if dread weren't applied at all. Now you might be thinking: doesn't this mean the majority of women will require dread to remain loyal? No. Look at the data on those who cheat during their married lives. For women, it's a mere 14%. This sugges…

/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 04:08 PM

Wait, my personal experience is viable evidence? Sweet! Here's my completely unbiased and entirely truthful experience with women reacting to dread. Every day, I see dread taking place on the streets as men with girlfriends flirt with and grope other women in front of their s/o. Each and every time, the woman immediately breaks up with the guy and swears to join the feminist imperative. There. Dread disproven.

/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 03:57 PM
11

Not much, really. This isn't a place where people learn of new viewpoints, it's a place where people debate viewpoints that are already understood. Only new thing I've figured out here is that TRPers have an extremely diverse array of interpretations of TRP maxims.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 03:55 PM

Or maybe women are just generally not assholes and won't cheat because it immoral to do so.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 03:52 PM

This, I think, should be the top answer. It's the most similar to the general views I see over at the blue pill.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 01:58 PM

First off, that's a bit of a strawman. I doubt any bloop here would tell you that men and women have the exact same brain. Second, the matter of the ratio of nature vs nurture in brain development is still a matter of debate. This article does nothing for us but confirm that there are differences, but the severity of them remains unknown to those of us who aren't both statisticians and neuroscientists.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/03/17 01:01 PM

The fact that dread may turn some women off is irrelevent, as they are a small minority and don't represent the general woman. Gotta have some evidence for that. I can't just take your word for it.

When someone doesn't take the pain of others into account when making a decision, I can't change his/her mind. That's that. What I can do is tell you my opinion of it. You're filth. Hey, I wanted to get back to this. The hurting that I'm talking about was stated in the OP: dread causes an aura of fear and uncertainty. As for the dressing up comparison; it depends on the motivation. If she's doing it specifically to make him jealous, then she is applying dread, and this is immoral. If she's doing it for him, it isn't. If the guy receives it as dread, and she doesn't mean to dread him, it's up to the guy to communicate this, and then talk it out from there. As for the point a…

I would argue that dread doesn't manipulate attraction: it instead relies on attraction that is already there. After all, if she wasn't attracted to you, why would she care that you flirt with other women? Also, why is she still in the relationship?

Knowing he's doing something wrong, and not caring. It's actually a common RP theme. One of their biggest arguments for dread that I saw when I posted about it was that they'd benefit, so they really don't care about the consequences.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/03/17 05:00 PM
1

First off, I'm still of the opinion that the conditions that would create passive dread aren't based in reality. Second, even if they were, passive dread (from either gender) can't be avoided, and therefore can't be immoral. Just unfortunate.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/17 05:11 PM
1

There's a difference. Making your expectations absolutely clear allows you to communicate what you want, and attempt to get it, rather than setting up a fog of fear and uncertainty. There's no ambiguity involved with an ultimatum, just outcome a and outcome b. It becomes a negotiation rather than coercion.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/17 05:09 PM
1

I didn't say it would work. Heck, dread may be even more effective than an ultimatum in getting what you want from her. What I'm arguing is that the ultimatum is moral, while dread is not. Intentionally hurting her to 'save' a relationship is not one worth saving, or at least not for her. For her, it will always be a game of catch-up; doing things for her in a frenzied effort to keep a sinking boat over the water. It's wrong to inflict that on someone.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/03/17 04:51 PM
1

You still haven't addressed the fact that women dread men differently. Did so! I argued that that dread is unfounded, as the conditions that supposedly make it a reality are based on false assumptions. Then it's not men's fault women feel "dread" from their overt actions. My point was that an unintended negative result cannot be called a moral wrongdoing, as the person who supposedly caused it had no intention to do so. Overtly attempting to inflict dread, however, is a moral wrong, as it was in…

How exactly are you defining "hostile"? This is another thing that is very subjective in this context. Hurting her to get what you want. You can't ask someone or tell someone to change the way they feel about you. I had a different point. Keep in mind, this is intended to be a reaction to a neglectful wife. Intention to have a sex filled marriage has been, as you say, made clear from the beginning. It still didn't happen? Then this is what you do. No. It isn't. You make it clear; issue the ultimatum. I want x from you in this relationship, and if you can't give it, I'm out. The problem with dread is that it's intended to hurt your s/o in order to get what you want from her, even if it's something she doesn't want to give.

We're not pretending. Feminism seeks equal opportunity and fair treatment: just specifically for women. It focuses on areas where women are oppressed, or suffer more difficulty than men (slut vs stud mentality, for example). The idea isn't for women to rise above men, it's for them to rise up to them. I'll be the first to say that men's right and issues are important too, but they're just not part of what the feminist movement is trying to accomplish (for the most part. Feminists can often be se…

It doesn't necessarily lead to immorality, but if a situation arises where it would be to one's benefit to wrong another, an amoral person would take that opportunity. Amorality isn't immorality, but it will often lead to it. Think of all the amorality among those we consider villains. Nestle's more repugnant corporate maneuvers were certainly based in amorality.

I was less concerned about moral constraints and more concerned about whether an action is immoral or not. Generally, humanity has defined morality as actions that do or do not infringe upon the rights each human must have to pursue happiness. My point about enforcing them was just an example of our collective mindset on these rights. Morals exist because they benefit humanity as a whole; it's how we evolved. While there is no objective morality, humanity as a whole tries to define it in a way the collectively benefits us all, and then enforces laws to uphold these values. For example: most humans don't want to be murdered. So, we collectively set up a force of police to prevent people from being murdered and to punish those who commit murders.

i think when they talk about amorality, they (generally) mean something more along the lines of "guns don't kill, people do", suggesting that the set of rules/instructions is not to blame for how it is used, only the user. Yeah, this is the gist of what I'm getting from the TRPers that have replied so far. But this, to me, isn't as neutral as guns are, as TRP strategies are often specific enough to be categorized as moral or immoral.

Extreme physical force or threats thereof is not a strategy. I think it is. An extremely immoral and ineffective one, and certainly not one TRP would endorse, but a strategy nonetheless. Guess we just disagree on terms here. We're at an impasse on this point. Casual dating is a strategy. Oh, I see. That's a bit vague though, and I working with the assumption that TRP sexual strategy is based more in specifics (like how to interact with women on said casual date).

Yeesh. You remind me of Heath Ledger's Joker. But no, I was assuming you meant that: If acting amorally (and therefore immorally) grants the highest chance of sex, then it is the victim's fault for being attracted to amoral individuals, and the amoral person shoulders no responsibility or blame.

I'll start with a basic one. Both parties expect to benefit from the relationship, so putting work into your relationship to provide something is a requirement. It would be immoral to simply expect your partner to do all the work; to keep themselves happy while also keeping you happy.

I think each strategy is either moral or immoral in itself. Extreme physical threats or action, for example, is almost objectively immoral (and probably ineffective as well). Working out to make yourself more attractive to the other sex, for an opposite example, infringes on nobody's rights, and is therefore moral. I'm hard pressed to imagine a strategy that could be used both morally and immorally. Can you think of any?

So, the subreddit will share whatever method believed to lead to sex, regardless of whether it's moral or immoral? Therefore, if an immoral strategy believed to lead to sex were discovered, it would be okay to post it?

Are you suggesting that morality plays no part in romantic relationships? Because if you are, I would tell you that that's insane. Morality plays a part in all human interaction.

Then it happened to lead to a moral method. Good. But morality is what's expected; what's right. An amoral person will do whatever benefits them the most, whether it's immoral or moral. Thus, acting morally will always be preferential to acting amorally.

Amorality must lead to morality, and is therefore moral in itself. I don't understand what you mean by this, and how it relates to your example. Would you mind elaborating?

Not true. We just had different moral values. It's only natural that two groups with opposing moral values will clash and call each other the evil ones (though I try to avoid this).

By the logic you use to call it immoral, I can also call it moral. I'm confused by this part of your post. Could you further explain what you mean by that?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/17 10:46 PM

Right, that's one of the other explanations I've heard for TRP methods. Women all like it. I'll contest this another time, when I've got some research together.

So, what I'm getting from your comment is that the problem is not with the one committing the amoral (and therefore, immoral, at some point), but instead with the ones who are pulled in by this?

What I'm interpreting from this is that the red pill will teach you how to have sex, but not concern itself with the morality of the process. This, to me, means that if an immoral and successful method of having sex were to be found, the red pill would teach it. Have I got this right?

Yeah. Perhaps making some sort of survey might be the best way to go here. Odds are studies related to this don't exist.

I know. I'm saying that attributing that specific motivation to all men who believe in female privilege requires evidence. There's any number of other causes.

Honestly this is quite a wild claim. You can't just go and assign this motivation to those that believe in female privilege without some evidence to back it up.

So basically... your justification for making an assumption based on nothing... is that it's not a scientific paper. You are literally using "because I say so" as evidence for a claim on a subreddit made specifically for debate. Listen. You wanna have a discussion about a tendency of women? That's fine. But first you have to prove that that tendency exists at all, and is as widespread as you say it is. And to do that, you're gunna need some evidence.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/17 03:26 PM

There are hundreds of other reasons that could possibly explain this and you've latched on to one despite having no evidence to support it. This isn't good reasoning.

Congrats... you have exactly one example of "orbiting" that may or may not have been motivated by sex that may or may not have actually happened. Truly convincing evidence you've got there.

You can't just dismiss my point like that. Burden of proof's on you here. Step up and provide, or I'll assume you pulled this idea out of nowhere, as will everyone else who doesn't already agree with you.

Most of the time, probably. But sometimes a less conventionally attractive guy will win out, as not all women are after the same thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/17 07:16 AM

Preference shaming, as you call it, is bad coming from either gender. But you're going to need some proof before you claim that it's more likely to come from women, and even then, you'd have to prove a significant percentage of them think this way in order for it to have any impact on how we see women.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/17 07:14 AM

This is a completely wild claim with absolutely no proof backing it.
