It would be a bad idea to tell her that I’ve only ever been with one other person probably right?

I soon to be 24 in September, I feel like I have been broken down into the dirt brother, 4 years of that shit was too much. I didn’t know about the financial dishonesty until after I left, that’s when I realized that I was paying deadbeat parents/brother’s bills. She doesn’t know I found that out though.

That’s what I’m trying to remind myself, but it’s hard to sit in silence. I tried to leave many times and she’d threaten suicide or that I’d never see my son again. It’s humiliating to make the brave decision to leave that environment and then her turn around and say everything she has about me.

I’d rather go to sleep knowing I didn’t sleep with some kids mommy while their daddy is out on the road paying their bills.

Believe me I had plenty of faults, but I know I never want to be hit by another person again. I never want to allow someone to brainwash me until I question my own thoughts. I allowed her to do all this because I trusted her and believed everything she said, “it’s your fault I hit you” etc

A little bit harsh imo considering I’m trying to be open/vulnerable with the bros here but I get the message you are trying to convey.

Get out, get out, for the love of Goddddd get out while you have no kids. I say this as a 23yo with a 2year old and another one the way. Yes I did leave while she’s pregnant, but I’m not totally convinced it’s even mine. She also hit me.

When I realized that she was never putting any of the effort forth that she pressured me to do, when I realized that she had told me it was my fault I got hit, when I realized I wasn’t actually crazy, when I realized that I had went through two hospitalizations and two therapists and multiple different medications for every single healthcare professional to tell me I was not in fact mentally ill, when my therapist told me I was being mentally abused. When I realized I deserved better and my kids…

At the end of the day you can only control what you do, not your son, not your ex wife. I’m not saying you are trying to control anyone, I’m just saying try to find some sort of peace in the fact that you know that you have did all you can, if your ex wife lets your son be lazy and enforces no structure that’s unfortunately just how it is gonna be. Keep reaching out but don’t suffocate anyone that’ll give them “ammunition” to say you are overbearing, that way when it is all said and done you can…

So are you saying I shouldn’t beat myself up regarding that day and a half during the week that I use to recuperate? They’ll be times I can get him per our custody arrangement, but I can’t get him every single time long term. I just hate feeling bad about it.

I have been out of the house for a month, have a court date later in June to clarify custody/child support.

How does one deal with the guilt of taking time for yourself? Due to my work schedule I get my son guaranteed every 2 weeks Friday Saturday Sunday and take him home Monday morning. Each week I only get a day and a half off work because I work nights and sleep part of the first day off, I would like to use that time to rest from work, take care of things, basically just not lose my sanity. But I feel like a POS for not having him if I’m off work, the soon to be ex wife’s comments don’t help eithe…

Before you take any action in the direction of divorce have you communicated how you feel to her? Maybe a gentler version of what you are telling us here?

I appreciate your grace with me and your honesty brother, I love my son very much and just want all this to work out.

That’s the part I feel bad about is even the idea of making time for myself, I know I shouldn’t care what others think about me, but unfortunately I’m human and do, especially if they are trashing me as a parent.

It is for sure bro, my plan at the bare minimum is to do Friday Saturday Sunday and take him home Monday morning at 8am(6 overnights a month). I don’t know what to do about my other days off, I have no help at all, so it’s hard to get things done on my days off when my son is with me(as shitty as that makes me sound it’s true)my wife has her parents right next door for help/to give her a break and she doesn’t have a job. I got pissed off because this girl told me I just want to “pencil in” my so…

I wouldn’t advise it, I imagine it only makes thing more complicated, I recommend masturbating beforehand to deal w these conversations/interactions if you are able. IMO you’d be less likely to be tempted/seduced. You are divorcing her for a reason, remember that. You can find another piece of ass out there.
/r/Divorce_Men26/05/26 09:13 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
