I make almost 3x my ex and the calculations came out to me paying 48$ a month. This is considering me paying 52% of all child care and uninsured cost in addition to paying insurance in full. To me this is a better deal because I minimized the unvetted money that will supposedly "go to the child". The 5050 child support doesn't make any sense. The main factor why the courts won't let child support go away is because they charge clearing house fees (how they make money of it). It's about 8$ per tr…

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm in a small town with pretty much 0 adult sport leagues it pisses me off actually because the only co ed league available my exwife and all her friends are in.. I do go to the gym a lot, work on all my projects (I'm a huge hobbyist) and recently started playing pickup every Thursday but that's just once a week. the problem with where I live is everyone is boring or too preoccupied with their families (not a bad thing just thins the herd a little) and our extreme c…

She tried to take all my music gear, shop equipment, guns, cars (like fun cars not commuter cars), and everything else in between. Judge saw right through it and awarded me what was obviously REALLY mine not what the law thinks is mine idk how to phrase it. They were stating outlandish prices for them. 27k for a square body Chevy roller lol. I got quotes for all my stuff that I cared about and it made them look restarted lol

Judges are human beings that's all I'll say. It's a mixed bag honestly. Most times opposing counsel will nip it in the butt anyways

Ok you guys say "not all women are like that" but when you're 4/4 long term relationships getting cheated on I think I'm allowed to throw in the towel....

Absolutely can relate. I've only ever been cheated on in every long term relationship. Every single metric points to it not being worth it.

Ex in laws all wrote letters to the judge in support of alimony. After that line crossing I have no interest in talking to them. Yet to go to an even with the kids yet as they aren't in extra curriculars

Absolutely but it's not about all it's about most and once you see enough peoples true colors through a rough time it's a rude awakening/realization about how people truly are. I'm still pretty young as far as divorcees go but I can't believe I didn't realize people were so terrible until now. Small town amplifies things for sure. Trying to not let it make me be this unbearable bitter person definitely tho

Alimony is an archaic law that should be removed forever.

Be careful with this because my ex wife was a serial cheater and strung me along when I had no idea. I was the one who filed because she wanted me to pay for all sorts of stuff pretending we would get back together or some fairy tale (I didn't know about the cheating yet) when I found out from family I filed. So she is probably telling others all kinds of fabricated stories maybe even the fact I "walked off" without any reason. The problem with cheating backgrounds and vetting women is you will …

My ex's position in court when on the stand was "uh can we just sell it? Sell everything sell and split etc" was the answer to every question where as our property schedule actually outlined fair distribution and values. She tried to say my 90s Chevy project truck was worth 27k 😭. This in combination with crazy child support numbers , alimony numbers and asking to pay all legal fees. She had a job so the judge immediately shot down alimony. Also was denied any of the child support worksheets the…

I'm so glad I took mine to trial. She ended up getting paid significantly less. Everyones situation is different tho blah blah blah. I just hope it goes in your favor. You'd be surprised how judges are wising up to the shenanigans these days
/r/Divorce_Men01/11/25 04:04 AM
3

I believe you. this scenario is extremely similar to mine. I do pay health insurance and 60% of after school cost which is probably like 200ish every other week. My biggest thing was due to my ex wife's spending habits, I wanted to navigate any funds so that they could only be really used for the child. Not just some unvetted check she gets to use for whatever .This offset my payment by a lot as well and the judge obviously viewed this as more fair especially with the child support numbers she w…

I'm in the reverse shoes as you. What state? In the end 50/50 child support payments are hardly anything to fight over. I think I make more than your stbxw and I have to pay my ex wife 48$ a month. My ex wife was making 60k a year or slightly less at the time
/r/Divorce_Men30/10/25 04:06 PM

Nope!I told whoever asked. I'm done being secretive and worrying what anybody else thinks it's very freeing.

What an archaic nonsense law. Congrats
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 02:19 PM
2

What state? Looking like she likely won't get it. I personally wouldn't be worried about it. I was so scared for myself financially when she was fighting for it in an absolutely contested divorce but when I saw what the judge said about our short term marriage, her ability to work, her current job (even tho it was less than half of what I was making) it seems like alimony is extremely hard to get.
/r/Divorce_Men09/10/25 04:49 PM
3

Same here except my marriage was short in comparison to most here ( 8 years). Its not too hard per say but if a situation arises I almost always HAVE to pay for some kind of sitter or care not to mention I pay 60% of all school care/camps etc. I also have no family here which is rough and can't move unless I want to give up custody. I'm gonna echo this again because it makes so much sense but marriage literally doesn't have anything to offer that's worth the risk legal wise. One day I'll marry i…

Infidelity. Life partner traits? Literally at this point someone who won't cheat. Out of all 4 long term relationships, they've all cheated so it's literally all I know

Cheating almost always doesn't hold up in prenups I heard. Along with any child support calculations and alimony just throwing that out there idk how accurate that is tho
/r/Divorce_Men07/10/25 05:53 AM

People will give you all kind of mental gymnastics but still no ACTUAL reason why getting married is worth it lol it's not. Just say your married why get the state involved there is hardly any argument I've heard that is against this

That's great man. A blessing in disguise. Create a hard boundary, there will be times out of nowhere she'll hit you up. DO NOT interact whatsoever can't stress this enough
/r/Divorce_Men26/09/25 04:32 PM

Btw they'll rub it in your face all day long whatever the shortcomings are. Parenting, income, relationship status doesnt matter. Likely some form of validation but take it with a grain of salt, makes her look bad 🤷. My recommendation (especially if kids aren't involved) just don't talk to her anymore!
/r/Divorce_Men26/09/25 04:26 PM

You can pick em? Man I've been cheated on all 4 long-term relationships last one ending in divorce 😭 I literally don't know what a relationship looks like that doesn't result in cheating and stealing hahah so weird how they flip a switch
/r/Divorce_Men26/09/25 03:35 PM
2

Do you ever come across medical expenses or daycare where the ex wants you to pay for it upfront and she'll pay you back later? I'd like to stop doing that and get her portion up front just in case there's procrastination on payment (which I haven't dealt with YET) but it's like every payment is late. Looking on how to navigate that...
/r/Divorce_Men24/09/25 10:24 PM

Cheating is actually more attached to childhood/upbringing issues more commonly than partner shortcomings iirc
/r/Divorce_Men19/09/25 02:02 PM

You are never the blame for cheating. It is a premeditated, planned immoral action that is sick to its core. You could be the blame to other parts to the rocky relationship but not the cheating dude have some self respect from that angle at least

Well could be like me. Ex Slept with entire workforce of old men, found out slept with my younger cousin (he then immediately died in a plane crash) attempted to sleep with both her aunts boyfriends (denied) and continuing to sleep with anyone willing all over town that even the next small town over knows about her. Just know that it was never your fault. For someone to do something so immoral, it was way beyond your control. These are usually childhood traumas and other things lashing out causi…

I agree assuming a 50/50 custody agreement, why have child support at all "to balance the households" what does my household have to do with the other. Also in most cases 50/50 numbers are so low.So why grant it at all? Because the state gets a cut....

5

Why would you get married in the first place
/r/Divorce_Men12/09/25 10:08 PM
11

In trial a judge can throw out prenups due to coercion or duress or for example if no lawyers were involved for both parties. Additionally prenups are especially voided when they contain child support or alimony calculations. I'm saying that everyone says prenups are a catch all....they're not and more and more commonly they are not working anymore.
/r/Divorce_Men12/09/25 10:00 PM

Judge can throw them out at any time. Best defense is never get married there's no reason
/r/Divorce_Men12/09/25 09:52 PM
3

I too used to think the court has a heavy bias towards women and in my experience they definitely do but it has toned down quite a bit. I haven't seen a 50/50 not awarded to someone who's asked for it unless they were psychotic/criminal/abuser etc
/r/Divorce_Men11/09/25 04:56 AM

/r/Divorce_Men07/09/25 01:02 AM

Cheating is always premeditated. Its a choice, most times calculated and planned and or covered up. Someone is already seriously mentally messed up to be immorally capable of doing something like that. Its not you, I've been cheated on in every relationship also and asked the same question. Cheating isn't the fault of the other partner, it's ONLY their issues not anything to do with you.

/r/Divorce_Men03/09/25 03:22 AM

I agree. I wish relationships would 180 but I don't think that will happen in my lifetime. Traditional values were the backbone but all that is essentially destroyed by degeneracy
/r/Divorce_Men20/08/25 10:49 PM

Im not sure the relevance but I 💯 agree
/r/Divorce_Men20/08/25 10:42 PM

I don't mean to be an incel, doomer, red pill or whatever other internet slang you wanna call me but from a logical point of view I think relationships are a wrap. Cheated on 3 long term relationships in a row. Not worth it and it all stems from modern degeneracy
/r/Divorce_Men20/08/25 10:35 PM
3

This is real. Having emotional inept friends doesn't help. Family don't care which is WILD to me. In my experience even people who have been through it don't really care either.

Why would you ever get legally married again
/r/Divorce_Men19/08/25 06:24 PM
1

I go to mass every holy day if possible and every Sunday and I believe was God's way of filtering out my wife as I began to practice more during the marriage. It's an incredibly difficult task with a non believer ex wife with 50/50 custody and joint decision making. I'm am stressing about my child due to these legal implications integrating him into the church (age of reason baptism)
/r/Divorce_Men14/08/25 03:41 PM

Cheating is premeditated and a choice. You'd have to be sick to begin with to be morally capable of doing something like that

/r/Divorce_Men11/08/25 08:27 PM

Definitely. I do not pity this person especially since he likely knows all the baggage she carries (assuming he's from her work were most employees know ) this guy isn't a simp at this point, he's an absolute cuck and is so obviously getting used. These guys are what literally fuel degeneracy

I think there's a threshold. After the baby I was expecting some weight gain from my then wife and that was ok but then she completely let herself go and I mean bad. I tried to approach it the best way possible including working out with her counting calories you name it, but she just did not have the discipline. As others have said it's an underlying issue, that lack of discipline was not only in taking care of her body but with our child, the house, sleeping all day etc. these things revealed …

Variety of issues in divorce process. VA disability calculated at with or without dependents rate, spousal support because she "sacrificed" her career for me?, drill pay being considered or not, drill weekends, etc and now some man hating woman at finance not allowing my bag to be at dependent rate because I have 50/50 custody and my child support isn't enough?

This is gonna get downvoted but I agree especially with that last part. It's a hard pill to swallow for most. Divorce has been made so available that people jump at it at the slightest inconvenience. Also you can only subpoena what you know or suspect. If you don't suspect things that are well hidden then I feel like that's hard to combat.

Gosh that sounds terrible. It sucks because don't you have to pay extra for subpoenas?

During discovery if you are requesting spousal maintenance, both parties have to disclose w2s, pay stubs, and bank statements from all bank accounts from I think maybe 3 months before service date and 3 months after? I don't remember but I think they gave us even more bank statements then they were required to give. The biggest flaw of this court system is that if she had hidden under the table income like prostitution, or a hidden bank account from another bank, there would be no way of knowing…

Another thing to add is those expenses ONLY matter AFTER you have served her or separation date. So essentially her bank statements after papers were served not the ones while you were married

What's frustrating is it seems entirely dependent on the county. What worked out in my favor the most i think is I calculated every single purchase from the bank statements provided and put them in to categories of luxurious items. I calculated the total in a spread sheet and it was one of our exhibits in court. This was for the judge to view and see that she was averaging $200 a month on alcohol, 300 a month on beauty, and around $ 200 a month venmo/cash app/etc for god knows what. Basically us…

For those wondering details in similar situations the state is AZ and marriage duration was 6ish years

As far as strategy I'll be 100% honest here there was none. The most back and forth was on property. Lots of vehicles at stake and I got all of them. I bought her a new car right before I found out she's been cheating....often....with anyone and everyone.... At that time I was getting ready to serve (she had no idea) I pretended to be friendly and ignorant about the situation and "hoping we'd be reunited again". I'd say infidelity is irreparable in my opinion so I served. I told her I would stop…

No unfortunately was in a no fault state it would have been easy to prove though. Divorce was completely contested and we are doing 50/50.

That's good to hear. I believe what you said is exactly what happened. The judge saw through it all.

I agree it was extremely hard to keep my composure as the one being cheated on but I was just so terrified of court bias that'd id hear from time to time so I tried to stay out of the courts and come up with dissolution on our own. She wouldn't have it so here we are 🤷‍♂️

I was lucky enough to recover quickly from debt due to large bonuses I received after divorce. I make more than I ever have (after serving) and my ex wife only gets a very small piece a month so minimal that the court is pending to wave downward deviation to $0. Disgusting infidelity cases like mine made it extremely easy to move on and have a better quality of life while maintaining finances as well as me not needing to buy all the excess shit in the house that never got used or never needed, s…

I lost 70 lbs. Best shape in my life. Use this time /lack of appetite to safely change and transform your diet into something healthy and routine. This helped me recover my lack of appetite at least

"Cheating isn't some reaction to a rocky relationship it's deliberate betrayal" this is so real. It almost is always premeditated

I agree. In co-parenting being present comes in many forms as long as this works for you. Just be sure that if it gets to be too much to withdraw where necessary because that in itself is in the best interests of the child imo

It's very reassuring for me that others also do separate birthday parties. I feel for my crazy infidelity scenario that it's healthier to do that. I don't think it will ever be amicable so distancing myself from any interaction with her is what's best for my child. Good on you OP for being able to stomach it but it's not possible for me

I agree that there is valuable wisdom there for sure just don't make it your whole life or you'll be miserable. As for a petition the government will not give a fuck unless it's some movement that goes viral lol

I've always wondered why there couldn't be a hybrid of both no fault and fault. I think in Idaho you could file for either/or based on the scenario

My favorite stat is about infidelity rates. If I remember correctly I believe 20% of men admit cheating whereas 13% of women admit cheating but what it fails to identify is that the word admit is used... This doesn't necessarily mean men cheat more although I'll admit men need to do better with enabling the high body count issue... When's the last time you heard a woman honestly admitting to something that they were massively at fault for let alone cheating haha. The accountability is unreal

Why even get the state involved. I don't understand the paperwork why can't you just have a celebration and say you're married

When I was dating my ex wife (maybe TMI) she would say she didn't like to be ejaculated on.....ok so stupid 20 yo me stopped pulling out and what do you know 1 year later she's pregnant so we got married. I asked "how did this happen" she said that she forgot to get birth control refills, asked her again a few months later "how did it happen?" She then said she "forgot to take birth control pills" asked a year or two down the road in a jesting manner "how did this happen again I forgot lol" then…

Alimony for life is insane. Well alimony is insane in general. Your a grown adult in 2024, no one is forcing you to not work or be a stay at home parent it's not an excuse in this age the individual decides that
