If you are 16, there is basically zero reason for an adult man to approach you for a relationship. Many tax payer funded domestic violence shelters exist in the US, but none accept men. They even turn down boys older than 12 (children brought by abused mothers). Even though studies show men experience near as much domestic violence as women. One of the reasons I avoid paying taxes as much as possible.
