Yes, we have minor children together.

No divorce decree yet. We will have court mediation in a few months before going to trial to see if we can come to an agreement on things. As of right now, we are both representing ourselves.

Exactly how it should be especially if you are providing child support and spousal support. My situation is far from amicable and it’s been nothing but petty on her end.

What if I opt to have the kids under my health insurance plan now that I’m working?

Our stipulation signed by the judge does not state anything regarding medical. It does however state we have joint legal and physical custody.

Yeah, that makes sense. Out temp order does not state anything regarding medical expenses.

Thanks for your input- yeah, this is is route I’m taking and sticking to.

Ok sounds good. As of yesterday, my STBXW is now agreeing to pay for everything herself and she tries to tell me that she will pay half of the cost with her insurance and the medical office will bill me the remainder- something like $7K for an MRI…I told her that wasn’t what I offered. I asked her to have her insurance cover whatever percentage they cover of the treatment. Anything out of pocket, we can split 50/50. My STBXW says that she will not as she is the who pays medical coverage and so I…

That makes sense- I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for the input.

We use a parent communication app where everything is logged and documented. The app was recommended by the courts for documentation purposes and ensure everyone is on the same page. Do you think I should still send a letter or is the communication of this on the app good enough?

What’s the last part about? Can you give me an example?

No decree yet- we have stipulation agreed by both parties and nothing is stated with regards to this. Is what I am doing out of line? I just know she will try and use this against me in court.

What do you mean by this?

What’s best is for the kids to be with their parents equal amount of time- not manipulating and taking advantage of the system or situation. At the end of the day, it will show the kids that I am there to fight for them and not be bullied no matter what.

Then the precedent is set- she can do whatever whenever.

Wow, yeah, it’s crazy how similar our ex are…but yeah, if they are not contagious- they should be with the parent on schedule. You’re right, you cannot worry about her life anymore- if she doesn’t feel comfortable than she needs to make arrangements on her own and figure it out IMO.

UPDATE - so my STBXW is now asking me for additional money (I currently pay spousal and child support which is court ordered) to buy groceries for the kids while I’m out of town…

You have NO idea…she is the queen of petty, contradiction, unreasonable and tyranny. My poor kids- I at least don’t have to live with her anymore…

Great advice! I did my DD and read some damn good articles and books. I also jumped on here early and got good intel from generations of men who have gone through it all. It would not surprise me if my STBXW was in a similar group like yours- I think her tactics come from her lawyer and sisters. Bunch of narcissistic savages who don’t care what the kids go through…

It’s all good, trust me- this is WAY better now than it was before (for both the kids and I). I invested in a dash cam early on and she knows that I have it because the kids told her or she saw it. But yes, I back up every pick up and drop off just in case she pulls something in the future i.e. leaving the kids without saying goodbye, etc. Petty stuff all the time…

💯 I followed all responses and she is now not wanting to communicate via Talking Parents app claiming that I am abusing and bullying her. She has also threatened to call the police if I don’t allow her to speak with the kids. I’m ignoring her messages now unless they’re an emergency type message or false accusations.

This is great- my ex is definitely HCBM and narcissistic. She’s manipulating the kids like crazy telling them she misses them so so much and makes them feel bad when they are not with her. It’s pretty sick.

So how do I counter this in your opinion? Will the courts eat this up?

Don’t beat yourself up or try to piece things together. Move on to the next. She wasn’t worth your time. Women are like this- it could be the smallest detail that may have turned her off. Maybe a photo you posted or a joke you made was too real for her. Who knows…just try not to think about it because there is no correct algorithm- you’ll go mad trying to figure it out. Your approach will land you the next girl and if she is into you, she will let you know right away. Keep grinding.

I am currently representing myself as I could not afford representation anymore. I know your situation is a little different- I am wondering how this should be divvied up: should I account for all stimulus and tax return or should I just divvy up stimulus. She also owes me a credit, should this be accounted for too? Or should I wait until there is a court order?

Thanks- that seems to be the consensus, it’s pricey. What do you think is good reason(s) to get one?

What if our custody is 70/30? I get the kids once a week overnight and every 1st/3rd/5th weekends of the month. She has now stated that she has contacted the IRS her attorney etc etc. I’m still not budging- I think I will wait for a judge to look at this.

The next time you feel all sappy and depressed by seeing a couple- go to your local massage spot and get a happy ending/blowjob/hj/etc. You’ll spend $100-$200 depending on the area you live but isn’t that the amount of money you’d spend on a stupid date without getting laid or having a good time?

I appreciate your insight on this. Unfortunately my STBXW is being extremely petty and will not agree even to the littlest requests regarding visitation i.e. minor change in hours to make overnight visitation 24hrs between pick up and drop off of our minor children. It seem evident that my STBXW wants to squeeze every penny out of me in legal fees and drag this in to court for spite. She is responsible for her legal fees as the courts made no judgment on her request for me to pay for her attorne…

Are there kids involved? What assets do you have together? Investments?

Make sure you have joint custody across the board i.e. joint physical, joint legal. I feel like my STBXW is trying this same move, she wanted sole physical, joint legal. Why? Because if she had sole physical custody she could technically claim to land a better job out of state and claim better living for the kids etc etc. so I made sure joint custody across the board. And just like the comment above- she cannot leave without my consent, the kids were born and raised where I was born and raised a…

What exactly is cold approach- can you provide details?

GET OUT. My STBXW would use some of these strategies like withholding sex when she felt I wasn’t worthy and in some cases wanted me to pleasure her and she would not reciprocate. This is straight narcissistic strategy- period. Save yourself the headache and ghost her immediately while you still can. Wish I had gotten this advice years ago...good luck.

UPDATE So I got my judgement...70/30 child custody. The courts said that no new evidence was provided so they kept the current stipulation for visitation. They also factored in the distance between my house and where the kids go to school (20 miles) and said it was too far for the kids. I feel Iike this was a huge loss for me- my kids are wanting more time with me, they tell me often...our kids are the ones that suffer from this outcome, it breaks my heart. Not sure what I can do to continue fig…

Agree. Thanks for the advice- I’m brushing it off, I’m brushing a lot off right now with her. The kids are starting to see how wrong she is and I love that I really don’t have to convince them on it.

That’s definitely been my priority, focusing on the kids now. All the pettiness and spite doesn’t matter so long as my kids love me and know I’m there for them. I’m glad your boy looks up to you- what more could a father want?
/r/Divorce_Men26/08/20 01:40 PM

I think that if your role is being a Father, your kids should call you by that- period. But if you’re cool with it then that’s all that matters.

Exactly- why??? I think she just wants me to blow up on her so she could use it against me...

Good for you man- glad you were able to get that 50. I can totally see my STBXW pulling something like this in court...

What do you think about her being flexible for me to taking the kids for ice cream/park on a none schedule day? Should I take her up on this? If you don’t mind sharing- what was it that gave you your setback? Just want to make sure I don’t get caught up in some BS that would prevent me from getting to 50%. Thanks-
/r/Divorce_Men24/07/20 01:07 AM

Yeah, I was afraid of that. $10K is steep- I can’t even afford a lawyer right now, I’m depending on family loans to make things happen. Another thing is that I feel the more time she is with the kids the more frustrated she gets. For example, both kids have expressed recently that their mother pinches them on their arms when she gets mad at them. I’m afraid that if I bring this to her attention she will only find a way to make something up against me. I have documented the kids on their comments…
/r/Divorce_Men23/07/20 03:37 PM

Agree however I think this is something that doesn't need a lawyer. No need to incur unnecessary legal fees

Thanks for your input...I have suggested communicating via co-parenting tools out there however she hasn't acknowledged and continues to communicate via email. Super petty things on her end- can't believe this... Thanks again!

Damn- yep, that sounds just like my STBXW. I hope she's smart enough not to drag this mess into court- my hopes are to settle this outside and keep costs down. We don't have any assets just our kids. But she has warned/threatened that she would take me down and make me "pay" in court, lawyer fees etc. I'm not rich so I don't know how that's even possible...
/r/Divorce_Men06/05/20 06:31 PM
2

Thanks. Yeah I can see my STBXW getting like that and wanting to be the one "in control" as she tries to be with everything. But she would always belittle me in front of my face to friends/neighbors. And some would ask me why she does that, I would just tell them the truth and tell them that's how she is with me...
/r/Divorce_Men06/05/20 04:36 PM
2

Like many on here, I too have experienced this and I'm in the early stages of prepping for filing divorce/custody. The belittling was something consistent from her- from your experience how did you get those people to get a statement? What was your approach? Just thinking I will do the same to have more ammo. Thanks-

Now she is claiming to email my boss and HR...Not sure what she is thinking. Maybe she thinks I will get fired? No luck on finding a lawyer yet however I did speak to some law offices on getting consultations in place.

Thanks for the info. I am doing both asking friends and family but also doing my own research. As for locking finances down- my wife has not been working for at least (8) months and looking for a job with little success. So I can't flat out cut finances, I'm the only source of income at the moment and need to provide for the kids. We don't own anything (at least not on my end)- really no assets that need to be split and shared.

Thanks for your response. Like I mentioned, this has been going on and off for the past few years- I don't see her changing even though she will promise me everything under the sun. I am researching lawyers and making phone calls today. Thanks again for your insight.

Thanks for the response. What are some of the "red flags" during consultation with potential legal representation?
