I’ll pray for you that it goes well! I’m thankful my husband is at a place where he recognizes his flaws and wants to be better! It doesn’t happen overnight, so patience is key

Does he yell at you continuously for 10 minutes? If so, I wouldn’t advise letting him do that. The way I see it, imagine you have a seven year old kid watching everything you do and that may give you some perspective for what you should or should not tolerate. (You don’t have one now, but someday you will, so you have to learn set a good example now.) One outburst is not going to warrant you doing this, but if your husband is carrying on like a fool and ranting and raving for 10 minutes, say, “S…

My husband sometimes get irrationally angry and while it’s not okay to make excuses for something HE needs to work on, we can always work on our response to the anger because let’s face it, all we can do is pray. So with that said, I think you can work on being the “goddess of light” that RPW talks about. So if he says something cruel or unkind, respond with lightness. “Ah! Soda just got all over my food! why are you so careless?” “Oh, I’m sorry, sweetie, I’m such a klutz! Let me get a paper tow…

I would not advise you to change your personality but you can become the best version of yourself that you can be. Men appreciate virtue in a woman, which is a woman who is grounded, joyful and modest in personality (modesty itself is a virtue, not just how you dress. Think of a woman who is kind and warm and joyful, not ostentatious or shy). As far as being a lawyer, my own MIL was a lawyer before she chose to stay at home with her children. I think a lot of redpilled, masculine men would be lo…

When my friend mentioned divorce, I told her I could give her some advice that is counter-cultural and has helped my marriage. She said she would like to hear it. After talking with me, they agreed to work on their marriage and are doing much better.

Yep, I pull it all the way up to nurse and wear shorts underneath. This is ideal for just longing around the house obviously. It works with a loose T-shirt dress. I’m the same way about dressing sexy, not really my thing. The skirts I have are lularoe, the “Cassie” skirt. They are really stretchy. They are a nice material that is fitted but not too fitted, and they go past my knees though I’m short.

Another thing you can do for non nursing dresses is wear a pair of shorts or leggings underneath. I don’t like doing that as much though, but it works. I recently bought a few stretchy knit pencil skirts that are casual and comfortable so I can wear regular shirts with them. The two shirt method for nursing is great (cami under a tee).

I am nursing too! I have been for the last three years. I have invested in a bunch of nursing dresses. They are all I wear. It’s worth it if you plan to have more babies or nurse into toddlerhood.

Perspective is big. I know this is depressing, but I made friends with someone (a young mom) whose husband died a year before. It was a very stressful part of our marriage due to my husband’s job. Any complaints I had were instantaneously put into perspective just by having a friend whose husband had died. Sometimes when I’m angry at my husband for doing or not doing sownthing, I think about my friend and how lucky I am to have my husband’s jeans to pick up off the floor.

It’s definitely possible! I am fit after two kids. I mostly just eat right, stay active and on my feet throughout the day, and breastfeed! Ifs helpful to gain minimal weight during pregnancy. I snack on Cheerios to curb the nausea.

Oh my goodness. My religion goes hand in hand with being a red pill wife. I’m Catholic, but I am a traditional Catholic, which means I attend the traditional Latin mass and reject a lot of the modernism that has infiltrated the church in her liturgy, tradition, and dogma. In my beliefs, I am a typical faithful Catholic, but in practice my life looks very different from a normal Catholic because we hold to traditional beliefs and we have begun to make our home more of an oasis from the world (esp…

it’s common to want to have a baby after getting married and to want to stay home with that baby. I wouldn’t spend any more on a wedding than it would tie me down to a job and keep me from starting a family. That said, I see nothing wrong with an expensive wedding. Ours was 20-20k in the Midwest. It was a beautiful night and friends still comment that it was one of the most fun receptions they had been to. The reception we saw as time to celebrate with friends and family. It is all about attitud…

Yes people break their promises but it’s naive to think you can spare anyone from pain by refraining from making the promise in the first place. If anything it will lead to more pain. Children need stability. I know you don’t want to hear this, and I thank you for your humility.

State marriage licenses aside, a marriage takes place when two people make vows to spend their lives with each other, to be faithful and to love each other before God. The importance is on the vow which is the act of commitment, not on the state recognizing the marriage. To be honest, I think the best example your partner can set is that being a man means you take on the responsibility of a family by making that commitment.

You are right. You know it was best for you to leave, and that you did nothing wrong. He turned into a loser, he chose garbage over a jewel. You need to find a man who sees you for the precious woman you are, who treasures you, and chooses you every day.

Please leave him. This is not the type of man you want to trust with your well being, with your children. Find someone else. Whoever he was when you first met, that’s over. He chose a different and dangerous path.

I love this discussion! Self care is something I’m prioritizing as of recently. I struggle with this on a spiritual level. While moisturizing my face is not something lasting and toes the line to the superficial (appearance vs health of the skin), as someone who struggles to stick to routines, a simple act of caring for my skin in this way is good for me as I work on the discipline that it takes to stick to such routines, and how it makes me a better, more organized person. And it does make me f…

Yes I’ve been there! He may never look back and see all that you did and thank you (and maybe he will), but he will be thankful for you being the light and joy in his life and your kids’ lives, and that will be worth far more than any resentment you could dwell on if you chose to. Long story short, keep your chin up and it will pass.

I’m SO glad it helped! I know the first time I came across it, I nearly cried because it made so much sense with my husband. I’m sanguine so in some respects we are total opposites! It’s so nice to know that there is nothing wrong with him. Once I realized that, it really helped me to support him and how he views things instead of trying to make him act the way I wanted him to. For example, now I am thankful that my husband really thinks through things. He is so analytical and knows about what’s…

This is called a melancholic personality. My husband is the same :) Read into the four temperaments and it will likely help you!you can’t change him but you can try to understand and respond in a way that diminishes the “vice” aspect of a melancholic and supports the virtuous aspect.

As a SAHM to two very little ones, I agree with you. I don’t expect my husband to do any chores at all, except feed the dogs, take out the trash, and mow the lawn. I don’t even say anything if he leaves out dirty clothes or dishes anymore. It’s not worth the nagging when it takes 5 seconds to pick up after him myself. My house is pretty darn clean I’d say and I work hard to keep it that way. I imagine that SAHWs who can’t keep their house clean (especially without toddlers destroying everything …

After seven months there should be more discussion of the future, especially given his age. If he isn’t showing interest in marriage, then cut him loose before you invest too much time. 28 is still young enough to find a good man but time is ticking.

It sounds like you would be happier at a lower weight but I see no need to diet since you are at a healthy weight. Just watch your portions, cut back on snacking between meals, and save desserts for Sundays. You will lose weight over time and feel a lot better. Obviously eating healthy is a part of that. I stick to whole, unprocessed food whenever I can, but I don’t beat myself up if I eat fast food every now and then. I’m 5’0” and 90 pounds after children. This is what I do and it works well fo…

I don’t know if that’s red pilling or not but this group is very much in favor of vetting men to find a good captain, and this guy does not sound like one. She should text him back and say that she will not see him or be his friend anymore. How emotionally exhausting.

Not that I know of. I think it just means to be sweet and affectionate. It’s a play on the idea of preserving your husband (like canning food in a jar) and then serving with peaches and cream.

That is difficult. I will share my story and it may or may not be helpful to you but here goes. When we were first married, my husband did not want children for many years. I thought I could wait, but once we were married I really desired a baby (of course). I prayed for his heart to change every single day while he was on a deployment, and, when he returned nine months later, his mind had changed. When we first married, he wanted only a few children and now he wants as many as we can have. I do…

It sounds like you need to be vulnerable with your husband. From reading your comments, it seems he has strong opinions. I think you just need to break down a bit and tell him, “I WANT To support your more. I really do. I’m just so emotionally and physically exhausted that I’m having a hard time. I really need to make some changes so our family can be happier. Can we make some compromises here?” And see what you come up with, whether that’s paying for a cleaner or someone to fold laundry and do …

To be honest I’d say that’s a pretty good age to start shaving. I did when I was 11 myself, when my hair got dark. In between 5th and 6th grade. I was also a fairly modest and shy girl, so there was nothing particularly sexual about it except for the fact that I was starting puberty.

My MIL. At first I felt intimidated by how well she does everything, but now I just try to emulate her. She is always light and joyful. She never gets upset. Like ever. I have never seen her be manipulative. She keeps a beautiful home, is always respectful of her husband. I think I’ve maybe heard her argue once in ten years and it wasn’t even real arguing just a brief more heated exchange that was quickly resolved. I really hope I can be more like her.

Maybe try this. Not when he’s saying it, but later, you could tell him, hey I don’t know if you realized this, but when I asked you a polite question, you respnded this way. Can you imagine a scenario when we have a 3 year old boy, and he says the same words to me when I ask a polite question? That would be really rude and disrespectful. At some point we just have to stop worrying. Current research on the DTAP shows it goes down in effectiveness quite sharply after just two years. Most people are walking around without any immunity to it. If you plan to breastfeed, that will help produce antibodies to whatever your baby encounters. I’m currently nursing my six month old who is perfectly healthy while I have an awful cold. He also was the only one in our family to not get the stomach flu when he was 6 weeks old. Men not knowing how to do housework is very common. That’s not what I’m worried about so much, so long as you see a future where you stay at home and do most of it yourself, even if you can only do the bare minumum say after having a baby. That’s fairly normal. Most men just don’t see what needs to be done. What is worrisome is how he doesn’t think he has enough time to himself and only works 30 hours a week. It would be one thing for him to want more downtime if he worked 50 hours. You need a m…

I think the traditional life definitely speaks to this innate part of women but feminism has kind of destroyed that for most. I used to be an atheist and even then all I wanted was a family. I agree. Is he yelling at you in response to being disrespectful? Or is he just yelling at you because he has a temper? Figure out if it’s the former or the latter. If it’s the former, change yourself. If it’s the lafter, leave. Threatening to call off the wedding absent of serious reasons makes me question if this is the captain you want for yourself for the rest of your life and the man to raise your children.

Yes! I am catholic and more specifically a traditional Catholic (traditional Catholics embrace the traditions of the church such as Latin Mass, veiling, traditional gender roles). Two things: when you find a good man, he’s going to love you through it all, especially through your body changes while having kids. He’s not going to expect perfection. That doesn’t mean you can let yourself go, but it’s to say that he will love you as his wife and love your body for your femininity. If you lose that weight and take care of yourself, I’m sure your future spouse will find you incredibly sexy. Second thing: you CAN get your body back postpartum. Women don’t talk about it when the…

My husband provides for us, the family. I know it’s weird at first when it feels like it’s not your money, but it is. Everything we have we share. You can of course do something different if you WANT to, but by all means by the man a present with your shared money if you want to! :)

I don’t cuss unless I’m really angry and have lost control, so I definitely do not associate cussing with femininity or anything good personally. Now that I have little ears following me around, I am even more careful. I don’t want my 2yo saying “shut up” to the dogs or calling things “stupid,” let alone taking the Lord’s name in vain. I’m glad that I never developed much of a habit for cussing because my husband (a former soldier) is having a hard time with not cussing in front of our kids. Int…

Just wanted to throw in here as a former high school teacher that it does not sound like the right fit for you. I am type A, enjoy staying busy and working a lot, and being a teacher was exhausting. I usually got about six hours of sleep a night because I was working all the time, and that was even while I was pregnant. People might keep suggesting to be a teacher because we need math teachers, but don’t cave. Stick to the technical stuff where you can work 40 hours a week.

When we worked full time, I did nothing around the house. Granted I was pregnant with terrible morning sickness and never ending work at home, but the house was always a mess and I just didn’t have time to clean and cook. And I’m pretty anal about things so I just had to turn a blind eye because I didn’t have the time or energy. I had previously been a SAHW that was meticulous with cleaning and I love to cook. I chose my career (secondary education) because I thought it would be great as a wife and mother. Not a good decision. The workload and stress is significant (never ending work at home) and classroom management is difficult unless you are working with honors or AP students. Mine did! I breastfed for 2.5 years and wanted to have children close together. My cycle came back after I drastically reduced nursing sessions at 18 months postpartum. I was going crazy by then. I would give your body 2 months. It took my body about 6 weeks of gearing up for ovulation before it finally happened and I got my period. I could see the build up by tracking CM with charting.

I’ve been trying to be more organized with my schedule as a SAHM. I don’t stick to a schedule very well, although I am organized. But I get so involved in projects that the routine flies out the window- not so great with little kids who need more structure. Yes! I’m Catholic and I’ve been trying to get more into liturgical living, basically living out the church year’s liturgical season. Right now we are doing a Jesus tree for Lent. We have a paper cross taped up to the wall, and each day we have a little circle that goes on the cross. The circle has an image on it that corresponds to verses in the gospel of Matthew, so we read those verses and talk it about with our toddler and say a prayer. I was not assuming this was the case but I thought it might be worth a mention in case “dressing like a slut” is her husband’s way of telling her to dress in more flattering attire, i.e. OP might not be dressing in a way that flatters her body type as it is. So I am with you on this because I am very religious and I will always choose to dress modestly. My body is for my husband’s eyes only. So dressing like a slut? Yeahhh no. Though that in no way means I wear a burka! I stick to dresses that show off my natural figure. The only thing I can think of is that there are a lot of hormones at okay that we don’t quite understand. For example, studies show that the longer you breastfeed, your chances for breast cancer go way down. Same with the earlier you bear a child. Wen who bear a child before age 21 have much lower rates of breast cancer. So it’s definitely healthier for the woman to have children before then. But I’m not sure if it makes a difference with the baby. The genetic risk factors I would assume are the…

My husband and I have not had a single night away from our toddler, so those two days in the hospital were actually so good for our relationship, especially since he has worked so much terrible hours since the fall. We shared lots of sweet moments and laughs, and it was nice to not have things at home and work for us to worry about.

I love this! Our society worships intelligence. To me, it’s just another trait and I feel no need to promote it in myself. Either I am or I’m not, and what somebody thinks about my IQ doesn’t matter to me. I’d rather be judged by my character. And I say that as a former teacher.

I do feel this way! I definitely take pride in keeping my home clean. It’s my primary job (after caring for the children of course!) but I have to remind myself not to let it distract me from being a good wife, in that I can get in a sour mood if things are not as clean as I’d like them to be.

I come from an area where storms and flash flooding are extremely common. I’m not sure what’s causing the flash flooding, but unless there is a hurricane or surges or flooding expecting to go up to roofs, I’m guessing you will be just fine. The important thing is to stay off the road during a flash flood as even a few inches of water can wash a car away. If you are taking a train you don’t have to worry about that.

My husband has to work so we can’t go home to family- which is sad- since we are finally just a few hours away! We just moved and the movers haven’t come yet, so we have little furniture, no TV or internet or games or really anything to “do”... and I’ve been feeling sad that we couldn’t have a more traditional Thanksgiving. But yesterday we came up with a meal plan and I’m really excited to cook for our family of three! Especially since it’s my husband’s first day off since he started his 80 hou…

Definitely agree and this is a reminder to me to really step it up. Sometimes motherhood becomes so all-consuming that it’s easy to forget these things. Not that I’m not interested in him, but distracted and overwhelmed. Need to work on this for sure.

Thanks! At a certain point, does it become too late? What if my relative decides they are not transgender later on, but then has passed the point for puberty?

Permanent repercussions from my understanding being an inability to develop the secondary sex characteristics needed for reproduction and along with more serious health issues due to hormonal repercussions from that. Here’s a fascinating read that might have some better info. Not trying to pretend to be an expert. https://4thwavenow.com/2017/10/25/born-in-the-right-body-introducing-4thwavenows-new-spokesperson-mom-of-a-teen-desister/

Are there studies on this? All I’ve read is that suicide rates are actually higher after surgery, but nothing about ages of transition.

Puberty blockers and binding, as far as I know.

This is amazing advice. We just went through this over the summer. Wish I’d come here for support!

Far more commonplace than most realize. Anecdotally my young relative is going through this.

From what I’ve read, puberty blockers have permanent repercussions.

Once upon a time, yes, and then not for a long time due to hormonal issues, newborn baby, long hours while he was away at work and me at home with a toddler. Honestly when I’m ovulating is the only time that spark comes back, which happened only for a couple months before we got pregnant again. Are you on the pill? This can really affect your hormones in this regard. There’s nothing to suggest that if you never experience those feelings, you never will. Either way that “fire” is not a pre-requis…

I’m also petite and young looking and get the “adorable/cute” comments, so I’ll speak to that. I’ve tried everything to make myself more sophisticated or older-looking and it just doesn’t happen. I’ll always be the tiny cute one.... questioned for being a teen mom. Ha! What I’ll say is that while MOST men will not fall head over heels when they see me, or try to hit on me at the bar, there are plenty of guys who have found me to be beautiful and loved the “cute” part of me too. And my husband of…

This is very true! I find that I have to leave many Facebook groups because of this phenomenon. On Facebook women are validated for every feeling and are hardly every encouraged or challenged to rethink the situation.

You married a great man. Marriage is not about passion or fire. My marriage has had times of passion and times without passion (pregnancy, breastfeeding for years... we dated as teenagers so you can imagine the passion and butterflies we felt then, but definitely not as much since marriage)... circumstances change, hormones change. Love isn’t a feeling but a choice. Just because you never felt a fire for him doesn’t mean you never will. Focus on his good qualities, on what attracts you to him, o…

Interesting thoughts on the period. I have been pregnant and nursing for a long time now, and it took quite a while for my period to return after our son’s birth. The days before it finally came back, I felt out of control with sadness and didn’t know why until it showed up. Then when I got pregnant that cycle, I ended up having a miscarriage, and the same thing happened the day before the bleeding started... I thought it was pregnancy hormones, but it was actually the loss of those hormones sus…

The Power of a Praying Wife is really good, though it’s obviously religious. I think it would work for anyone who prays, and probably even a wife who doesn’t pray if she just took the Christian parts and verses with a grain of salt. I’ve read it several times, though it’s been a while since I last read it, and it always inspires me to pray for my husband, to understand his needs, and to work on myself. Has anyone else read this book? I am curious if you think it’s a good fit for RPW.

Thank you! That is a great perspective. I don’t have friends with older kids, so it is really nice to hear that it will change. He spends much more time with our son now than when he was a baby, so it only makes sense that they will spend even more time together as he gets older. And I appreciate the advice about the tv show! I can totally relate. Sometimes I hear about couples who do all sorts of those things together that we don’t do, especially after kids, and it subconsciously makes me feel …

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your perspective. It’s so easy for non-RPW friends (even those who are more traditional like me) to just blame the husband and say he needs to do XYZ when he’s home. It’s so refreshing to hear what I as the wife need to do to help the situation. After all, all I can control is my own actions- it’s pointless to focus on what he should or should not do. So thank you! And after posting this, my husband’s coworker invited us to do something with his family toni…

I think a lack of organization makes things more stressful. I was feeling very overwhelmed because we are closing on a house and moving next week, but about a month ago, I started an organizational system that has changed my life. I feel so much more on top of things that the “emotional labor” is no big deal.

To answer your question, when he loses his temper, I tense up. I really don’t like it when he gets angry. Most of the time I just say nothing or sympathize with whatever it is upsetting him, but once in a while he really loses it and I get upset... partly because it’s happening and I don’t like to see him that way, partly because it’s really excessive for the situation and our toddler will start crying. When it’s that bad, I usually tell him he needs to walk away, go in another room to cool down…
