It gets better...... right???Wife and I had three serious conversations about divorce over the last year and a half. The anxiety it brings can be brutal. We finally decided to do it in October but didn’t tell the kids or anyone else until after Christmas. For me telling the kids was one of the hardest things but they took it well. This was a major turning point for me and I feel I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have a rental but have not moved in yet. I am sure I will hit periods of loneliness however I liter… | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/02/24 03:47 AM

Online dating and revealing you’re divorced?Wow. As a soon to be divorvcee this is great advice | /r/Divorce_Men | 08/01/24 02:03 AM
Got My SockLike you, feel I will recover financially in a couple of years. Will be getting a home I can afford with plenty of funny money left over on a monthly basis. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/24 02:17 AM
Got My SockMan… god bless (and I am not religious). Funny how women can be stupid with money. Mine is keeping the house and due to other properties we have, could lower her mortgage (if she waned to). She is so stubborn, I am almost certain she will spend a boatload on a new vacation home that I did not agree to. Rather than lower her current mortgage, she will actually increase it as she wants more cash. Women are nuts man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/01/24 02:15 AM
Looking for mortgage modification advice (please)I believe you will need to refinance in one name not two. When you applied for the mortgage, it was based on two people not one. They will need to reevaluate current circumstances, especially since you are getting divorced. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/24 05:21 PM
Haven't Filed Yet, But Soon, Asking For Advice & InputAll I can say is that ANY long term relationship, things get old an stale. If you are really best friends I would consider counseling. In my case, my wife and I are opposite thus the root of our problems. You should at the least try counseling first in my opinion. A long term relationship is hard and if you meet someone new I can guarantee you will feel like roommates at some point in time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 03/01/24 05:16 PM

Alimony with similar incomesMy recommendation is meditation. I am doing this now and my wife agreed to no alimony. For perspective, I make a good amount - 300k w stock, bonus, salary. She makes about 200k. Even in my situation, and from my research, a judge takes into account the ability for one to support themselves. If you are on some what good terms, she might be agreeable to this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/24 04:40 AM

It’s sad…Hang in there. I have been in pain for a while. On Apple Music heard a Radom song that summed everything up. It is from the 70’s but still good. It’s called “we just disagree”. Totally resonated with me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/24 04:33 AM

Need assistance from small business ownersFrom my perspective, I think as long as I can follow the digital money trail that her company puts money into, I think I can figure it out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/24 04:28 AM
Sexual IncompabilitySo what would that do? Other than make you feel more horny? | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/24 03:43 PM
Sexual IncompabilityPre-marriage sex was fairly good with oral and all. She learned to scuba before we got engage because she knew I liked it. After Marriage, sh stopped scuba and the sex was the lamest I ever had. No oral - not only getting but she would stop me when going down on her. She was also happy with me finishing quickly. Missionary was standard. Going through divorce now and it makes me wonder if she is lesbian, even though I have no proof. I am certain that there are women out there who are more sexual.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/24 03:42 PM
I wish…Happy new year. Same as you and praying for some calm, stability, and rebirth in 2024. All the best! | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/24 03:31 PM
Cheating playbookGo the mediation route if you can. Will save a ton of money and time. I am doing it now at start to finish will be 3 months and 5-10k in total for both of us. I have heard horror stories of people lawyering up, spending over 50k (each) and it taking a year or two. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/01/24 02:19 PM
When you know it's the best option but it still scares you to death.I think what you feel is normal. Wife and I have had no less than three serious conversations about divorce in the last year and a half. This past year has been brutal with all of the same fears you described. The stress that it brings is almost unbearable and I can honestly say my drinking has increased due to this. We officially started the process and should be done in three months. I am also finalizing a rental for the year with hopefully purchasing a home by the end of the year. All I can s… | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/12/23 03:00 PM
Excited for 2024Good words of wisdom and congrats! Wish you could have done mediation. I have heard it’s much less expensive and goes quicker. Just started here and will be done in 3 months. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/12/23 02:52 PM
Feelings going up and downMan, all I can say is hang in there. It’s an emotional roller coaster. Married here for 20 years w 2 kids who are older. I still live at home but will be out in a month or so. Some days will be better than others. Like you there are days where I get excited about dating. On the other hand my sex drive has tanked due to the stress and anxiety. Once I am out I do think I will see a therapist. I can probably get by without it but I do think it will help. My drinking has increased as well - not a fu… | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 12:23 PM
When do you call itAlso - in regard to lawyers - I spoke to others that have gone through this. Start with just a consultation, you should be able to get one for free. This will give you a idea as to what to expect. However if you actually pull the trigger- do whatever you can to stick with meditation. That is 5-10k vs potentially 5x or more if you both lawyer up. Mediation is also shorter. I will be done in 3 months vs years. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 12:16 PM
When do you call itA VERY important question is - do you have kids. May not change the outcome but should 100 percent impact your approach. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 12:12 PM
Dying alone... We shouldn't be scared of that.I agree. The thought of this used to bother me. However, as you wisely said - we all die alone. Can’t take a friend or wife with you when you pass. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/12/23 11:44 AM
How to deal with wifes family after announcing divorceHave you seen them at joint functions? Such as kids birthdays? If so how did that go? My wife’s parents got divorced many years ago but they do see each other at family events and get along - even her dads new wife is accepted by his old wife. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/12/23 08:44 PM
This is gonna be harder than I thoughtHoly shit. Hang in there man. There is light at the end of the tunnel. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/12/23 04:40 AM
