Beautifully written! This resonates so much with me as well, I have similar thoughts and sadness and confusion as to why I was sent out into the world without the tools to save me from abusive environments, so perfect how you said that. And how my parents, who didn't know better, would say things like you're just too hard on men, give him a chance, somehow it was always me not making enough concessions when I was upset about receiving less than the minimum. And even today some of the people arou…

Or it's a woman trying to get followers on only fans or whatever... she will likely get 100 messages from creeps and she will respond with her OF link (or however that works).

I say, "I have like 5 boyfriends" or "5 men pursuing me" and depending on the person, I add "along with a full time career, taking care of my dog, family and friends, and working out 5 days/week, I just don't have space for any more" Saying you are dating 5 people immediately just ends the convo, they laugh a little and for some reason, rarely is there a follow-up question about it. haha :)

I just had an aha moment reading the part about being 100% responsible for your own behavior and not allowing him to make you responsible for his behavior. I think women are conditioned to know intuitively that we are are responsible for our own actions without having to verbalize that fact so when we are out in world and we meet men who start blaming us for their actions, reactions, behaviors, they say things like "I acted that way because you made me feel _____" or "...because you did _____" i…

I quote the dictionary. :) The definition of a feminism is: the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. A feminist, by definition, is a person who supports feminism. If you aren't a feminist you don't believe men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. Please explain that stance to me if you don't call yourself a feminist?

I wouldn't even call it an "allowance" instead a SAHM should have unfettered access to the accounts without being questioned for use of the marital assets. They are combined assets if you got divorced you would have the right to 1/2 of the accounts, so no reason you shouldn't have that same right during marriage.

Wow! Beautiful post! I called off an engagement 8 years ago because I found out he was a porn addict contacting prostitutes 1 month before the wedding. This gave me chills! I knew then that I was making the right choice, it's nice to be reminded of how my life could have been much worse than still being single vetting through more and more LVM. At least I have my health, sanity, and peace of mind. Thank you for sharing this.

Aah the cringe when he compliments is such a good point!! Some guys when they compliment me I just feel like ugh stop I don’t need or want your approval the fact that you think your compliment would even mean anything to me is annoying! I didn’t even realize it’s the same thing.

This entire comment hit home! I know exactly what you mean the man baby who makes you the competent leader carrying all burdens because he can’t get out of his own head and stop passive aggressively feeling sorry for himself! And omggggg the bumbling idiots lol! This same guy from the post said maybe he got the facial expressions from watching Chevy Chase movies as a child. Like what!! You think adult you is maybe emulating the bumbling idiot character and you know how to hide it sometimes but o…

OMGG "he lied after I called him out, and so I picked a fight." The mere fact that she refers to her initiating an important discussion with her awful husband "picking a fight" is tragic! Sounds like he's a master gas lighter!

100% this! Every single heartbreak, big or small, the lesson for me has been, "trust your intuition, it's never been wrong" and when I am in the midst of the confusion, I sound and feel exactly like you do, trying to explain it away, blame myself for being anxious, wondering if I am being unreasonable. Run! Your intuition has never been wrong, trust yourself over anything else.

https://www.thecut.com/2014/09/ask-polly-why-dont-men-i-date-ever-love-me.html I loved every single word of this!! Wow! Thanks for sharing. This was one of my favorite parts: "I don’t know what, specifically, you want. Maybe you want the freedom to say exactly what you mean, instead of saying the “right” thing. Maybe you want to be assertive and bossy but you don’t like women who do that, so you’re afraid. Maybe you want to be the one with the projects strewn all over the place."

What’s an example of what a HVM would say? Similarly, what do you say when you list what you love about your HVM?

Thanks everyone! Look I get it. I am not choosing not to tell her because of his comfort, I could not care less about his comfort! It’s a safety thing, I don’t want to live in fear of retaliation, for my safety or my career, however unfounded that is, it’s not worth the risk. Plus I have full faith that she has intuition just like we do and she already knows what’s up or the next time he doesn’t come home until 12am she will think ding ding ding I need to start tracking some stuff. I suppose I c…

Ok y'all are making me think more about this... but I just don't see this woman blowing up her entire marriage and home life over 2 dates, no intercourse, he's a manipulative narcissist, if anything it will bring them closer together and he'll be more careful for a year or so and she'll feel safe. I definitely don't think they were even separated, and yes he was just cheating on her. I just assume he's done it before and he will do it again and there will be a time if there hasn't been already w…

Thank you for sharing that and totally agree about this manipulation tactic!! You NVM sounds familiar, a lie by omission is the exact same thing as a lie! And the living situation thing was just one example of an in person conversation that I realized later was a red flag, in hindsight. (I didn't confront him about this, wasn't worth the trouble, I barely knew him). But another one that was glaring after the fact was when we were talking about his kids and divorce and I validated him by saying s…

I know I know, but I guess I fear retaliation too. The only proof I have is text message convos I could print, but he knows my name and where I work, and could easily find where I live, it just seems like there’s a better way for this to come to light than this offense. Plus we didn’t sleep together the messages could be explained away as one harmless mistake. I just don’t think in this particular scenario I am the right revealer of truth. There are many other ways this will come to light on its…

I thought long and hard about this, and I looked for her on social media for quite some time and couldn’t find anything. His lies will come to light on their own, in their own time. I think there’s better ways for her she will find out if she doesn’t already know his ways.
