The only way to put on significant muscle mass is to lift heavy shit, wait a day or two, then lift slightly heavier shit, while making sure you're eating properly while you do it. Technically, I was quoting a co-worker who mentioned I was tall and attractive. It's relevant to the story because these are considered by most people to be desirable traits and I was bringing attention to my coworker comparing my "list of desirable traits" to the lack of desirable traits in her sister when attempting to set me up with her. I'm sure there are any number of ways I could have handled this better. Going forward, I'm going to stick with "It's complicated" and if anyone continues to be persistent, maybe allude to trying to work things out with an ex. With any luck, that will be interpreted by future would be matchmakers as "He's not 100% available and it sounds like there might be a lot of ex drama involved, so I'll stop pushing the issue."

I completely agree and from now on that'll be my one and only response to inquiries into my dating life. I also agree that social media will probably be regarded as the downfall of civilization by whatever's left of our future generations, but Facebook is about the only way I can keep in touch with my family, who are all out of state, so it is what it is.

The "simp" part comes into play because my co-worker thought there was even a one in a million chance I'd take care of her sister. We have several "Chads" at work who are better looking than me and make more money who are also single, but women know that if they tried to match them up with their worthless sisters, all they'd hear is "LOL, I'm not going anywhere near your fat, ugly sister." On the other hand, I am supposed to be a nice, beta simp that should jump at the chance.

The lie is when I tried to say I was "still dealing with my recent breakup" to politely decline any further dating conversation. The implication was that I needed "time to heal" and "wasn't ready for a new relationship." This is a lie because I am happy to be single again will most likely never date (and will definitely never co-habitate) again.

I completely get what you're saying, but my line of reasoning is this: If I bounce her to the curb, I'll make her desperate. In today's world, her desperation can lead to her easily destroying me with little risk to herself. If I kick her out, she could easily headbutt my mailbox, waltz over to the police station, and claim that I hit her. Honestly, I've always preferred being by myself. I was just under the (false) impression that there must be something wrong with me if I wasn't working for the wife, 2.5 kids, and house with the picket fence. As far as hobbies go, do what makes you happy. Who gives a shit if it's useful or not? If it makes you feel good to throw pebbles in the lake all day, go throw pebbles in the lake. Just try a bunch of new things and stick with the ones you enjoy. If it's something useful, great! Just don't get hung up on the idea that your hobbies have to provide any value other than making you happy.

I will never cohabitate again. Not only do you open yourself up to an immense amount of risk, but that's also the point in the relationship when most women enter "trap sprung" mode. I can potentially see the benefit of dating someone and never letting it progress to cohabitation, because at least that way she'll still be invested in putting effort into the relationship. At this point it doesn't really seem worth it to me, but I can see it being potentially viable for people who want to go MGTOW …
