This is really what it all boils down to. YOU are the only person on this planet that you can rely 100% on. Everyone else - your wife, your parents, your best friend - has a line in the sand where they will screw you over if it serves them. Some people's lines are further out than others, but you better believe that EVERYONE has that line. The sooner you rely only on yourself, the better.

I'm not upset that you encouraged me to do something, repeatedly, and against my own self-interest and which would eventually burn me, but I am instead upset that I ignored the warning signs and ignored the prior red flags in your behavior, such as the time when you changed the story to suit your needs, and therefore changed from being an aggressor to being a victim.
