Never. Twice
/r/Divorce_Men06/07/26 11:40 PM

Normal. I dont talk to mine. Email only about kids expenses. It is not possible to have a phone or text conversation without her losing her mind, so no contact is fine with me.

If there is no love, emotion, sex etc she has checked out. Dont wait thinking its coming back. Time to go

Divorced at 49. Dated for 18 months. Found the one. Been 5 years. Not easy but it can happen

I’m 6 years divorced, alienated and we still pay lawyers and fight. I’m in my third lawyer and he is $650. You can’t win if you don’t play
/r/Divorce_Men27/05/26 08:26 PM

cS is adjustable. Have your attorney subpoena her tax returns and then file for an adjustment
/r/Divorce_Men27/05/26 08:21 PM

I know this sounds bad but play the long game. She knows you want to be done so she will continue to add on until you cave in. Play the long game. Live in your house with your kids. Be a good dad. Agree to 50/50 split of assets and 50/50 custody. Tell her to get a job. Make her worries about money bring her to the table. I have lots of experience in this and wish I dragged it out longer to turn the table
/r/Divorce_Men23/05/26 07:44 PM

Mine wanted me to pay her for the 20 years that she didn’t work raising the kids because of our potential drop in salary going back into the workforce. I told her to eat it.

I recommend Steven J. Ryan Esq. Warner, Federico & Ryan LLP He is my third attorney, as the first two couldnt handle some difficult work. bring your wallet
/r/Divorce_Men20/05/26 02:40 PM

I made sure the kids didn't forget it and made sure they had money for presents etc. My birthday got ignored so that ended quickly

Just go have some fun for a bit. No hard decisions Need to be made

Tell them they can go with you on the day you have it scheduled or do it themselves. Entitled teens are the worst and don’t respect what the providing parent does for them
/r/Divorce_Men16/04/26 01:30 AM
7

Yup. Dont engage just be a good parent.

Im 6 years out from a 21 year marriage. Here’s what I did. Body first, gym, walking, sleep. Mind with books and calm time. Companionship with my dog and some casual dating. Now I work hard, take care of me, and have a wonderful gal. Takes a long time

About 6 years. Peaceful less people but that’s fine. In control of my time
/r/Divorce_Men21/03/26 12:40 AM

You are way better off without her

People’s true colors come out during adversity. I always told my kids it’s easy to behave when your winning. It’s how you act when your losing that matters

The day before I met my ex. Would skip that date
/r/Divorce_Men28/02/26 01:52 AM

I was married almost 21. Last 5 years a total shit show. She didn’t love me but was surprised I wanted a divorce. She was married to the money and the nice life o made for here. Fast forward 5 years. I’m happy a she’s still bitter . Life moves on
/r/Divorce_Men20/02/26 01:19 AM
7

The bottom of mine is don’t feel like you have to be stuck with this one person forever and put up with all their shit. There are plenty of wonderful women out there would be happy to have a nice guy.
/r/Divorce_Men17/02/26 06:11 PM
7

Having them married 20 years and also having a daughter, I’m happy to give a little bit of the benefit of the doubt, but it became absolute ridiculous. I’ve been divorced about six years now, and I am much happier to have moved onto people that are realistic.
/r/Divorce_Men17/02/26 06:10 PM

My ex blamed everything for the last 10 years of our marriage on menopause. At some point, there’s a limit to the bullshit.

I would never condone beating someone up but the POS comment was a good move. My ex is also a POS
/r/Divorce_Men03/02/26 10:24 PM

No one deserves to be beat up but Karma is acceptable
/r/Divorce_Men03/02/26 06:44 AM

Petty and bitter. Sounds like mine. Follow the Agreement and ignore everything else
/r/Divorce_Men28/01/26 02:19 AM
5

Surprised it took her this long. Unless your agreement changes because you remarried, she signed and has to live with it. If she wants something she has to give something like additional holidays with the kids etc. she is not your friend

Our judge removed any pet language. We agreed to split pet costs until she didn’t want to anymore. Pets are just personal property in the eyes of the court
/r/Divorce_Men25/12/25 09:20 PM

Similar situation, and I’m paying a lot. You can send me a DM if you want to discuss some detail.
/r/Divorce_Men19/12/25 04:50 PM

You should keep your life away from her as much as possible. If the kids know something don’t tell them to lie etc. live your life
/r/Divorce_Men04/12/25 04:25 PM
1

Right, stay home with 5 cats if that makes you happy
/r/Divorce_Men02/12/25 12:48 PM

Divorced at 49 5 years ago, and Covid started. Gym, get a dog, chat at the supermarket, etc. Chat on dog walks. You will find people arent bad to talk to. Dating apps are a challeng but you will to put yourself out there. You will find plenty of people who all have a story. get hobbies and volunteer. It is hard but rewarding.

She wants to track the kids. Tell her no and leave it at her house. If the kid brings it, faraday bag it, and give the kids a cheap tablet to watch movies and play games. This is a narcissistic control play
/r/Divorce_Men01/12/25 01:23 PM

I’d like to bump into my ex, with my van
/r/Divorce_Men01/12/25 01:20 PM

Start volunteering. Animal shelters have more women than men. Or another cause

Can't wait to hear this one
/r/Divorce_Men18/11/25 02:54 AM
6

I hear you. Almost 6 years out. Not a week goes by without her asking for more money? Even though our agreement is clear.
/r/Divorce_Men16/11/25 05:34 PM
9

Mine is a lying, kid-stealing narcissist. Not hard to cut out
/r/Divorce_Men16/11/25 03:59 PM
1

Good luck man
/r/Divorce_Men11/11/25 11:19 AM
8

True. But planting a tracker on your kid when the kid is with the other parent admits that she doesn’t trust you and doesn’t want to coparent like a good human. I would flush that thing every week and say I don’t know what happened to it. Definitely stick it to the side of a UPS truck
/r/Divorce_Men09/11/25 06:13 PM
11

I would throw it out the car window every time on my way from pickup. That’s a psycho you got there
/r/Divorce_Men09/11/25 06:03 PM
5

Sometime they come back. Mine have not yet. Just know that a divorce does not cause kids to hate only one parent, that’s learned behavior and taught by someone
/r/Divorce_Men09/11/25 02:18 AM
3

Stop alienating. Kids learn to hate the other parent from the actions of an alienating parent. And tell them a judge ordered them to, so suck it up. If they refuse to remove privileges, it's boring at your house too. my kids are permanently damaged from this
/r/Divorce_Men09/11/25 12:24 AM
4

If she can't play nice, do it. I had a similar situation of false allegations. Tell her she can ask a judge anytime she wants something
/r/Divorce_Men30/10/25 10:27 AM
6

Six months at least
/r/Divorce_Men27/10/25 12:19 PM

My decree was during Covid and got delayed was almost 6 months after the Agreement was signed. I just proceeded with the agreement as the gospel
/r/Divorce_Men26/10/25 05:37 PM

Should be fine, ask your lawyer
/r/Divorce_Men26/10/25 03:52 PM

/r/Divorce_Men24/10/25 04:35 PM

You got a crazy one there
/r/Divorce_Men22/10/25 07:14 PM
1

I negotiated 12 years instead of lifetime
/r/Divorce_Men22/10/25 04:18 PM
2

Go as little contact as possible. Don't respond to everything or fast, unless the kid is in danger. NO is a complete sentence. Keep records. And if she is being ridiculous tell her to pound sand and take you to court
/r/Divorce_Men21/10/25 12:16 AM
2

Nice
/r/Divorce_Men15/10/25 08:37 PM
3

I ignore 90% of her communications as she wants to be in control. I blocked phone and text so she has to email so I have a record. She will be the perpetual victim, so document everything
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 09:01 PM
4

But I have, because many of these women are the same. I was married almost 21 years, and she just went crazy, stole my kids and is only focused on money.
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 05:21 PM
2

my divorce attorney told me in his 40 years of practice. She’s the craziest chick he’s ever met.
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 02:51 PM
5

Mine was/is. Stole the kids, cries poor every day. A complete parental alienation nightmare. Don't give an inch
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 11:43 AM
11

Do not do this. She and her future boyfriend can live in the house and you will get stuck paying the mortgage or crash your credit. If she can't afford to buy you out of the house clean, then it must be sold and split the equity.
/r/Divorce_Men14/10/25 11:42 AM
4

I fired my first two, because they were softer than a sneaker full of wet dog poop. My current one is older, very experience, and while not a sledgehammer provides sage advice, always and I appreciate that.
/r/Divorce_Men03/10/25 05:52 PM
2

Yes, they do
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/25 06:20 PM

I’m paying like 12 or 13 years of alimony, she wanted lifetime
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/25 06:20 PM

I have about 5 more years. Can't wait.
/r/Divorce_Men01/10/25 06:00 PM
8

/r/Divorce_Men30/09/25 10:49 AM

My ex who gets a ton in alimony and child support, chooses not to work and complains about money constantly. I will not give her a dime that's not covered by our agreement. She can pound sand
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/25 12:57 PM

As someone said, dating after 50 is looking for the least damaged thing on the clearance rack
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/25 12:55 PM

My ex didn't want Ozzy he hung with me through the divorce until the day he passed

Correct. Girl dogs might
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/25 01:09 AM
12

I said not crazy too. That heavily limits the field
/r/Divorce_Men28/09/25 12:35 AM

Women want rich, tall, decent looking. Men want boobs and not too crazy. There's a reason dogs are mans best friend
/r/Divorce_Men27/09/25 11:09 PM
9

Have her bring the other guy over and have a big dick contest. Then bang her best friend
/r/Divorce_Men27/09/25 07:38 PM
18

Just tell she's fat and move on.
/r/Divorce_Men27/09/25 07:10 PM
3

Nice to find a good one
/r/Divorce_Men01/09/25 08:42 PM
4

Coffee and a walk. Happy hour drink. Keep it simple until it makes sense to move it. You may need a lot of coffee dates to find something worth pursuing. Also some women want a fancy dinner out of the gate. Stay away from them
/r/Divorce_Men09/08/25 11:07 PM
3

No, parental alienation
/r/Divorce_Men06/08/25 09:34 PM

Would love to go back through like 10 years of emails or parental alienation
/r/Divorce_Men01/07/25 07:31 PM
3

If anyone sees my kids, tell them I said hi
/r/Divorce_Men15/06/25 05:27 PM
0

I stopped. My ex alienated the kids, forced them to ghost me and cut me out of their lives. I fought in court and for them for years. It’s exhausting. No point while they live under her roof. Maybe another time. Can’t fight forever
/r/Divorce_Men09/06/25 12:14 AM
5

Yup. Mine is a narcissistic alienator. Haven’t seen my kids in years
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 12:02 PM

/r/Divorce_Men18/02/25 02:42 AM

Do not leave the house, ever. Tell her if she can’t handle it, she can move out
/r/Divorce_Men12/02/25 01:19 PM

Both of mine alienated by their mother and haven’t heard from them in years. Guarantee I’m not appreciated
/r/Divorce_Men11/02/25 10:05 PM
3

Actually that was a typo, but it’s poetic
/r/Divorce_Men02/02/25 02:26 PM
8

Just have fun, meat people. Everyone has a story and their own demons. You will find most women who have been through divorce are just looking for a nice guy. If you go in with an open mind, fool around, have fun. Its not like you are going to get married again (don't) so if it goes south, a phone call ends it. Party on Wayne

Haven’t seen my kids in almost 3 years and haven’t had Christmas with them in 4 years. Time takes time

/r/Divorce_Men10/12/24 12:27 AM

/r/Divorce_Men31/10/24 04:54 PM

I dated up and down, from secretaries to nurses to lawyers to CEOs. I own my own business so money is not a big concern for me. I met plenty of nice women across the spectrum. I did end up with someone who is as financially secure as I am. Not having to worry about a big income disparity is so nice. If I fell in love with a secretary so be it, but not having to stress it is great

If you have done nothing wrong and don’t want to change the plan, tell her to F off. Force her to take you to court and prove a reason to change it. Only agree to mediation if you see the proposed plan first and there is something in it for you

It’s a trap

Make sure you have the alimony be modifiable so if your income goes down you can claim a hardship and go back to court
/r/Divorce_Men19/01/24 11:52 AM
9

I have a sole P LLC. It makes no money without me. My ex wanted half. I told her she could have 100% and pay me 50% of what she can make. I would just start a new one. Needless to say I kept all of it as she wanted the gravy train on alimony
/r/Divorce_Men18/01/24 12:23 AM
1

Do you think that someone who would take their children illegally from the country would follow a preemptive order? And once they are gone, good luck
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 05:20 PM
1

Can’t get a court order unless they do something. Courts don’t act because someone might do something
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 12:31 PM
2

This actually isn’t for me, asking for a friend who is concerned the ex is trying to get passports without telling and possibly take the kids from the country. That is why they are not giving up the numbers.
/r/Divorce_Men10/01/24 01:49 AM
1

Im sure our ex’s complaining about us endlessly is good humor as well
/r/Divorce_Men22/12/23 12:23 AM

/r/Divorce_Men21/12/23 08:11 PM

Same brother . I hear y
/r/Divorce_Men20/12/23 12:38 PM
2

Agree. My kids are highly intelligent but have learned all their life that there mother has their back so when she tells them dad is bad they believe her. The only correct path is to grey rock the ex, be a good human and move on and hope the kids brains fully develop and they see through the smoke one day. Otherwise get a dog and find new friends. And get a hotter girlfriend than your ex.
/r/Divorce_Men16/12/23 03:49 PM
2

I’m in the same boat, kids 22 and 19 no contact with me cause of their mother. I’m just moving on with my life hoping they come around one day.

Even at 22 and 18 my ex is still lying to, and trying to buy the kids to keep them from me. I reach out to the kids with little response and will just live my life with the new people that are in it.
/r/Divorce_Men31/07/23 07:51 PM
3

My kids are adults so they need to come around on their own. The ex is pure evil
/r/Divorce_Men31/07/23 01:22 PM
9

Mine doesn’t co parent she control parents. I haven’t talked to my kids in 6 months. It’s just the new reality. Alienating narcissist
/r/Divorce_Men31/07/23 01:15 PM
2

I went email only as she can’t be nice on the phone
/r/Divorce_Men31/07/23 01:14 PM
8

Change the locks or move. No contact is a wonderful thing
/r/Divorce_Men31/07/23 01:13 PM
7

The exact opposite. It’s great since it has No Alimony attached
/r/Divorce_Men21/07/23 06:52 PM
4

I take 50% of the credit/blame for the marriage and the divorce. It’s takes 2 to make it work and screw the pooch. My issues are mostly post divorce with the ex not following the agreement , custody and alienation. And at this point I don’t care what she thinks, says or does.
/r/Divorce_Men19/07/23 04:38 PM
1

Getting good grades and working hard is not his problem. I feel like he’s sympathizing with his captor. She doesn’t want him talking to me so he won’t. She buys him tons of stuff so he’s been sufficiently brainwashed. Maybe he will come around, or maybe his mother will buy him college too.
/r/Divorce_Men19/07/23 12:31 AM
1

It hasn’t helped. I dug in and we had schedule at least 2 get together a which he made excuses or just blew me off. He reached out the day before tuition was due and I told him we need to sit down and talk about it. You can’t ghost someone for 6 months and they ask for money. I told him I am treating him like an adult making him live with his actions and inactions. So far nothing. Let’s hope when he moves to college he grows up and away from the narcissist alienator
/r/Divorce_Men18/07/23 11:10 AM
1

Yes enjoy life as best you can. Be independent. I travel and do what I want. It’s kinda nice
/r/Divorce_Men18/07/23 10:34 AM

/r/Divorce_Men11/07/23 02:29 PM

Look I didn’t sleep for years. I mopped around, etc. get some counseling if you need. Date and F around if you want. Keep everything casual. Find some hobbies, do some charity work etc. it will get better . Don’t let the zombies win
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/23 05:23 PM
3

Listen dude, the new guy will be better if you try. I’m 53, married 20, divorced almost 4. Ten new guy is smarter, fit, leaner and enjoys life without sweating the small stuff. Now get a dog 🐕 learn to cook, travel and get moving
/r/Divorce_Men10/07/23 12:13 PM
7

Dog 🐕
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/23 06:42 PM
2

That is my most likely course. I have literally called or texted about 50 times in 6 months asking to sit and talk about college and life. I’m sure he feels his mother takes care of him so he can’t betray her. But I pay all the bills either direct or through alimony. I’m gonna stand my ground and see if he is willing to up his level of effort with me
/r/Divorce_Men08/07/23 12:56 AM
3

I’ve gotten myself in a good place given the years of alienation. Taking car of myself, great job, wonderful GF, travel and good friends. I wish I had my kids in my life more but I’m done sitting around crying about it. The fact that he called me (first time in 8 months) because tuition is due today tells me he is still under control of the ex
/r/Divorce_Men07/07/23 05:06 PM
3

There is no reason to anymore. The cons heavily outweigh the pros
/r/Divorce_Men30/06/23 01:30 PM

Mine reminded me of the time I left the toilet seat up like 10 years ago. Can’t fix crazy
/r/Divorce_Men28/06/23 11:30 AM

Date for fun only. The old ways are gone. Don’t get married. Enjoy someone’s company and if it doesn’t work move on. You only get one life, enjoy it. And this is from a guy after a 20 year married and 4 year custody battle, with 10 more years of alimony to pay. Party on Wayne

You will learn that no contact is your only option to sanity
/r/Divorce_Men22/06/23 10:16 AM

She sounds like she has narcissistic tendencies. They don’t take responsibility and blame others. No real reasoning with them. I’ve been dealing with mine for about 4 years divorces after 20 years. It’s better just to ignore and have your own life. Work on yourself physically and mentally. Practice the fine art of the word “No” when she wants something. I could write a book on mine. But I am living a good life with a nice gal, dog and enjoying every day without that crazy lady
/r/Divorce_Men21/06/23 11:30 PM

Not your circus not your monkeys. Move on
/r/Divorce_Men19/06/23 09:46 AM

Hard to be a great dad when she won’t call, text or see me. I’m just an ATM machine. As long as she gets financial support she doesn’t need to do anything. My ex has entitled the kids and they always come up roses with no consequences
