I may soon post the one year update. Separation agreement should be signed this week with all assets separated and final divorce soon after. It has been a year from hell. The family has been ruined and I cannot even see a glimpse of the woman I loved for over 30 years. Even shortly before separation, I thought this woman to be a Saint, without a bad bone in her body. Boy was I wrong. As you prepare, check the finances. The bitch removed over 200k from the accounts during the years previous to he…

Phone records for me. She denied the affair and was furious that I looked at her phone records. Absolutely furious but then said, "if you had an affair, it's ok". Denied the affair time and time again. Shortly after we separated, she moved in with him. This, after 32 years together. He's her direct report (subordinate) at work, a large corporation. I could easily cause trouble for the slut and the homewrecker. Forget the woman you knew and loved. You will not recognize the vile and vindictive wo…

For the purpose of support, income can be imputed to your stbxw to reflect her normal earnings once she returns from sick leave. Depends on how long term it is I guess.

Agree with everything you wrote. I'm not sure it is commonplace to be cc'd on lawyer to lawyer communications. Is that the experience of those here who have gone this? I'm still waiting for my lawyer's response to my Monday email asking for his guidance about the joint submission. I know it's early in the process and I'm in no hurry to answer my stbxw but it still worries me that he is so slow.

Likely settle but it's off to a bad start.

The 4 years of statements I'm asking for is because of suspected fraud. I think 3 months of statements from your bank is normally sufficient.

Thanks for your thorough response, Communication : I agree but there are questions that I have that I need his response, even if we're not very advanced in the process. We are in the financial discovery stage and she wants a joint submission prepared by an accountant. I disagree and that's what I asked my lawyer about Monday, before answering her. No response from him to this specific question. I may call the office manager as I did Monday. I suspect fraud on her part. She has repeatedly said …

Yes, but my concern is that she wants us to hire this accountant to take the financial info that we provide and do a joint financial disclosure. I fear that I would be the one supplying the documentation as my former spouse is too lazy, disorganized and tuned out to do it. I do agree that we will eventually need to hire a divorce accountant because we own multiple rental properties, have pensions and there's a large discrepancy in income.

I'm from Canada. Only met with lawyer once and officially retained him early last week. She keeps saying that she wants this to go smoothly. She initiates conversations but then ignores any of my requests that she doesn't like. Told her last week that we needed to address this dissipation issue early and get it out of the way if possible before actual negotiations on assets and support start. She said yes but it never went anywhere. She's still interviewing lawyers so that has stalled the proces…

She was primary and I was secondary on the Mastercard that had almost 100k in deposits. They will only give me statements containing my usage of the card as secondary. She cancelled my card shortly after. I do believe that she just spent and spent and spent on that card. Problem is that I can't see anything if value in our house or my daughter's house. Statements will show if she did cash advances. If so, can't track the cash but it sure looks bad for her making cash advances when there's liquid…

I don't think she would know how to convert this money into digital currency. I'm starting to think that I might be screwed because she may just blown the 100k over 4 years on purchases for herself and our adult daughter. My lawyer thinks that it'll be a problem for her because of the way she did it - continuous large payments to a credit card that I didn't know she was using. The thing is, I don't know what she could have bought for that sum of money. There's nothing new in our house and nothin…

I'm just wondering if she had an account with another bank or if she deposited the funds in my daughters account, how would I know about these accounts? By the looks of things, she made hefty payments to the credit card, then made daily withdrawals in cash and then deposited that money somewhere. She also must have charged a shit load of purchases to that card that I don't know about. The statements will show the purchases and the cash advances if I can get a hold of them.

Thanks for your reply. I can do a lot of the work that a forensic accountant can do once I have all the statements for the past 5 years. I've figured out what the Internet transfers are. They are transfers between accounts within our bank, whether they be checking accounts, savings, lines of credit, credit cards. So she was moving money from our checking to another account within our bank to the tune of almost 200k over 4 years. If I can get the statements, I'll be able to see where the money we…

Found out today that she was building a nest egg for herself. Seeing lawyer on Monday. Things are going fast. She refuses to share financial statements. Lawyer will get them. Only been 5 days since she left but getting back a little fight in me. Helps not having her around.

Quite the number she is. Good riddance but shitty you're going through this. I know how fell although I have no proof of a physical affair. Still, mine denies she did anything wrong but wouldn't answer simple yes or no questions about it, other than to say I was making assumptions. Were you texting him as soon as you woke up most days? Yes or No. Were you texting him every evening while taking your bath sitting there naked? Yes or No Were you texting him every night as you sat on the couch while…

Thanks. I do believe, however, that spousal support is retroactive to the date of separation once separation agreement is signed. In Canada anyways.

House is paid so no mortgage but there are obviously lots of carrying charges (hydro, gas, insurance, water, internet, cable, and so on). Is she responsible for half of these expenses from the date of separation? Also, I'm recently retired, working part time now on a contract until December 31st. Her monthly income is much higher than mine at the moment and will be much much higher next year. When we discussed the probably of spousal support about a month ago, she said that she realized that she…

I'll be calm from now on. Felt good but bad a bit now. A part of me still loves her. I did love her two days ago.

Well I did the opposite today. Tore a strip off of her about, well, just about everything. Won't help the process in the short term but it actually kinda made me feel a bit better. She now knows I'm pissed and her hope that I be passive during the process is gone. She's expecting a fight. The only thing she did admit to is that she'd been planning all along to leave this weekend while I was out of town. That's it.

I'm having trouble knowing which lawyer would be best. I actually don't have that many friends who have divorced, or at least used a buldog lawyer. Most of them didn't fight too hard to get what they were due.

Melatonin kinda helps me fall asleep but doesn't keep me asleep for long. I was wide awake at 3 am this morning. Tough sledding at work right now. Will make appointment with doc to discuss. Thanks

I know, it's just a lot right now. My wife paid the bills and handled the accounts. We have three joint accounts (plus hers now I guess). Does she need to consent in person to be removed from these accounts? Or just open a new account and dump all the money in that one and then close those three? Does she need to sign. Sorry, I'm very out of practice with this. For credit cards, I simply call the company and ask to remove her. I think we share most of them... not sure.

How many months for you? How bad is it for you now? It's sad but I've gone from hopeful to acceptance in a matter of 30 hours. She's still denying the affair. Went back further and now see the constant texting (anywhere from 50 to 125 per day) makes it almost for sure an emotional affair at the very least.

To add insult to injury, she emptied half of our bank accounts without notifying me. I have to lawyer up but I don't feel physically and mentally capable just yet.

Well, she gone. Mixed emotions when I pulled in the driveway and her vehicle wasn't there. Relief mostly. Still have no clue where she is. Yesterday, she said she'd move to her parents. Maybe she did, maybe she already moved in with her "supportive" co-worker. Every bit of her clothes are gone, makeup, beauty products, computer desk, office stuff. It's definately not for a week...

I started to detach when I saw the quantity and the timing of their text exchanges. Anger is setting in this morning and I'm not sure if that's a good. I texted her last night to know what to expect when I would get home today. She ignored my text. So, we'll see in a couple of hours if she's still there. I hope she isn't.

I will. Never taken a sleeping tablet. I do pop a melatonin before bed but it's the waking up way too early that's the problem.

Thanks. Can't imagine it getting worse than what it is right now. The emotional affair (that she denies but 100 texts a day seem to prove it) is just the extra push I needed to accept this for what it is. Really not hoping it'll be as bad as you describe.

The eating right and exercise is something I really want to do. However, I'm hardly sleeping and hardly not eating right now so it's tough. I have to figure out how to get some sleep. I can fall asleep because I'm exhausted but I wake up at 3 and I'm wide awake, only to feel sluggish the rest of the day. I woke up at 2am this morning.

I'm not big on therapy. I bought a whole bunch of books on helping getting the marriage back on track and just now ordered books on dealing with separation and divorce. I do love her still but seeing all those texts was a real gut punch. And then her being so mad at how I found out and minimize it to "he's just checking in on me". Not one communication between them since on that phone. I guess it's now through their work phones. Another thing is hurtful is that I overheard her talking about our …
