What is your view on the reasons for modern divorce? It’s exactly in my case. All my ex’s best friends are divorced. The thing that gets me you can’t be that stupid to get persuaded, you right? | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/03/25 07:58 PM
Why can’t they just apologize?Narcissistic and bi polar. They go together. | /r/Divorce_Men | 13/02/25 07:48 AM
You might not be as appreciated as you think you are by your kidsNothing will ever improve without accountability. This applies to anyone in the family. Don’t let the unconditional love thing fool you. Not enforcing accountability with my ex during our marriage is the reason why I became a member here. It’s no different for my adult kids. If you truly love them, they need to account for their actions AND the consequences that come with it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/25 08:25 AM
You might not be as appreciated as you think you are by your kidsIt’s because men are providers and our validation is through appreciation. What hurt me the most above all is my ex wife showed no acknowledgement or appreciation at all and just filed divorce after 26 years. Broke my family then polluted my son’s mind. The vindictiveness and selfishness is insane. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/25 07:33 AM
You might not be as appreciated as you think you are by your kidsGen Z is different. It backed fire for me. Don’t pamper your kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/25 06:05 AM
You might not be as appreciated as you think you are by your kidsOne thing I learned through my divorce is that lack of appreciation can come from your wife and children. During my divorce, one of my kids got brain washed by mom and our relationship got soured. He’s just like mom had no appreciation for what I have provided to the family. And that’s OK, I’m at peace with myself knowing that I did the best I can and he’s an adult now. It’s now all about me from now on and I don’t need to please anyone. And that’s not to down play what you and I have been throu… | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/02/25 03:00 AM
What to teach the next generation?I don’t need to tell them. They saw my divorce in action. No better training than that. They saw first hand what a divorce did to me. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/01/25 06:50 AM
Ex wife messageThey exist but they want to be the man not the feminine woman you’re looking for. | /r/Divorce_Men | 07/12/24 03:15 AM
Decision made - she wants outThis is why I now cringe when I see couples do the vows in a wedding ceremony. And I can just see how the man will get destroyed later. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/24 03:40 AM
Happy Thanksgiving fellasMy 2nd for me and it does get better. The first year was brutal because I’m an empty nester as well and felt like I lost my soul with the divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/11/24 03:35 AM
Divorce at 50You other option is keep it going and then at 55 or 60 you will hate yourself not divorcing earlier. Can’t get back time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 19/11/24 04:09 AM
4 months post divorceDon’t blame the man but the mom. There’s no bottom on how low women can go. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/24 10:04 PM
How to move on from feeling taken advantage of?You literally wrote my story. Our first house was paid off and sold it and upgraded to a much larger house to please her. Then got the “I’m no longer happy” BS and now I’m stuck with a new big mortgage and a lot of empty house. I told her what the fuck did you do to me? Instead of possible early retirement now I have to start over again. The amount of selfishness is absolutely insane. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/11/24 07:28 PM
It’s overI just don’t get it. Why do women destroy their own lives but above all her family. I just don’t get it perhaps because this has happened to me. I’m happy to hear your story and wish you the best. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/10/24 06:33 AM
I heard a story today..I was so happy the nonsense shopping stopped after we separated and now divorced. It's insane amount junk she bought over the years. It was during the removing her stuff that I realized how much crap she bought. My credit card balances are so much lower now. That's some we had always fought over and now I don't have to deal with this. Peace. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/10/24 04:48 AM
I heard a story today..There is absolutely no turning back for me. I told her I was willing to work out any issues as long there was no cheating. THEN I later found out she cheated. It was then I told her, there's no time to waste, let's finish the divorce. No more begging, negotiation, or talking. All bets are off now. Gents, for those you can't be weak when it comes to this. There is no turning back once your woman rides another guy. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/10/24 04:40 AM

My wife is leaving meI want you to know that I was on the same boat as you thinking the wife didn’t cheat until I finally found the proof on her phone. I’m now a firm believer that when they check out they already have someone lined up. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/10/24 07:26 AM

Need some suggestions on my situationDon't know how long you been married but you could be on the hook for life-time alimony like me. Imagine that, she can cheat on you and still get alimony for life. Talk about the pain for life. | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/10/24 03:58 AM
Anyone else feel like you can’t do anything right?Even to the very end, she wanted me to do this and that. I came to a conclusion that it's BS. She's not happy with herself and no amount of shit I would buy for her (flowers, vacations, handbags) would help. I told her you think our issues will magically go away if I bought a few hundred dollars' worth of flowers that will die in a few days. She refused to admit fault, refused couple's or even self-counseling. It's all my fucking fault. So, I said let's get this divorce moving. Stop wasting time… | /r/Divorce_Men | 09/10/24 03:36 AM

What did you learn about yourself during and post divorce?I’ve learned only through the divorce the term narcissist abuse and how she messed me up mentally. She filed because I told her no more abuses for me. It’s hurt me so bad that she’s completely stable during the divorce and I’m a nervous wreck and needed therapy. So, the thing I did learn is that I needed to set boundaries against her abuses. It took 26 years to do it but I did it. It will take some time for me to recover. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/10/24 03:11 AM

Seek and destroy. This is perhaps why my narcissistic wife of 26 years filed for divorce. I no longer tolerated her craziness (exposing her?) and surprisingly she called it quits. She literally blame anyone and everyone but herself. I was so messed up mentally that it was until I understood what narcissistic abuse recently that I finally got some closure as to what happened to me. For the longest time I wanted closure from her which is the wrong person to get it from because you will never get it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/10/24 08:55 AM
Seek and destroy. The last part about counseling being required would have saved my marriage of 26 years. Imagine that, the amount of heart aches, families, and bank accounts that could have saved. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/10/24 08:34 AM

Domestic Violence Happens to Married Men TooWow, I thought I had it bad but my good sir, you had it worse than me. My wife once came after with a knife, got her arrested, spent $5k bailing her out and she her words was “I just wanted to scare you only.” Let’s just say I’ve seen enough murder movies and I know the difference between scaring you and I’m going kill you type of rage. 26 years in and the torture is about to be over. | /r/Divorce_Men | 01/10/24 08:15 AM
How do I get through my thick head that she doesn't want to be with me that it's me that still loves her and reminisces of how we were and met and acted 20 years ago)It’s not easy. I’m going through it right now and in therapy. It was through the divorce I realized how messed up my mental state. You need more than books, get therapy. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/24 06:14 AM
How do I get through my thick head that she doesn't want to be with me that it's me that still loves her and reminisces of how we were and met and acted 20 years ago)Get this in your head. She has someone already. I was in your boat a few weeks ago. Giving her the benefit of the doubt that she at least has the courtesy to close her legs until the divorce is over. Then I found out she cheated. What you have is codependency. Not sure if she was abusive but mine was but that often is the reason for codependency. It’s done. Move on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/09/24 03:08 AM
Cheating - ConfirmedYou could have wrote my situation to the T. Her friends and co-workers are all toxic. And despite my plead and warning she still gone to the wrong path. I would not have felt so bad if I didn’t see it coming. I provided it all only for her to destroy it all. I had been abused throughout the marriage as well. It’s gotten so bad I develop co-dependency for her and has destroyed me mentally. I’m in therapy now trying to undo all the years on damage. | 3 | Cheating - ConfirmedThe way I look at it is just destructive behavior on her side. The guy she's fucking doesn't give a fuck about her. All her friends are toxic. We often talked about this kind of behavior ourselves about her friends. Perhaps, it's just me not able to let go of caring for her. It's perhaps I'm co-dependent and that what's coming out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/09/24 01:58 AM
Cheating - ConfirmedYes, that's exactly what happened. She at point wanted to come back to work on the marriage then last minute changed her mind. Even verbally bragged about not sleeping with anyone until it's over. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/09/24 01:54 AM

What was the event that led to your divorce? Was it preventative?Omg, my wife of 26 years filed for divorce and hoarding was one of our contentions. We had 4 fridges and she wanted to another fridge. Same here, she would buy food for the kids won’t eat and always in Costco sizes. Mind you that, the kids are all grown but she still thinks she knows best. We get into fights over frivolous spending and having to deal with all the crap she buys. | 11 | Update: How do I navigate through this life dilemaI’m in CA and I’ll be paying alimony for the rest of her life because we had a long marriage. And all it took was “I’m no longer happy” and now she’s in total control of my life. You think about this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/09/24 05:04 PM
Just Wondering - Were you warned about Divorce?Women like the wedding not the marriage. If we men did the same shit they do with the “I’m not happy” nonsense, marriages would not last a month. You expected to read their mind and she’s always right. Add the woke shit, there you have it. Mine always threatened me with divorce anytime we get into an argument. Then one day she actually filed. Go do it girl! You go! As others have said, she did me a favor. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/09/24 05:10 AM
I didn’t want the divorce even though she was abusiveSame story here. Mine was 26 years long and about to end. I tolerated physical abuse, verbal abuse, belittling when she felt like it. I asked myself why and how I could have tolerated this so many years. For me, it was keeping the family together and the kids. Now the kids are grown, something strange happened. I stopped putting up with her shit and something even more strange happened. She filed for divorce! Holy shit. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/08/24 02:23 AM

Is there really an outListen to this guy. He’s right on. Mine had BPD and postpartum after our 2nd child. 26 years later we finally in the process of divorcing. Time flies. Edit; get help by all means , try to fix it, but just don’t let it linger all the years like I did. And oh, if you guys fight all lot staying for the kids is not the answer. My own kids are grown now and they hated us for staying to together they suffered a lot during the process. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/05/24 05:39 AM
Anyone go through with divorce only to get back together down the road? It's an interesting question it's something I'm pondering while I'm going through mine. I'm very torn because for me marriage is very sacred to me and give it to the very best end to try work it out with my STBX. I guess everyone is in a different situation but there's two things that kills it for me. 1) cheating 2) divorce 3) Accountability. On #3, it's what I got me in trouble the first place because I didn't hold her accountability through the marriage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/05/24 01:06 AM

Help me articulate why divorce is so hard for menI’m there with you and now I’m a lot wiser. We men don’t generally change a whole lot during our marriage. We’re all in from day one. We men must hold women accountable. Too many times, we don’t because we wanted peace and just give in. Times are different now and we men need to learn to adopt to this craziness. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/04/24 05:11 AM

World changed right before my eyes. This is just make all more depressing when it’s time for me to get back to the dating marketplace. I really want the traditional roles of a relationship. | 1 | Help me articulate why divorce is so hard for menIt’s hard for me because despite having been abused through the course of the marriage it seems so easy for her to walk away but it’s hard for me to let it go (at times). It’s burns me inside to have the roller coaster emotional ride. She’s never really gave me the emotional intimacy I crave for so much. The betrayal, the disappointments, and anger all circling and have yet to go away. So much time has been lost and I’m scared to start over again but now forced to. I found out she was horrible p… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/04/24 01:32 AM

Thankful to Have Single FriendsToo many men refused to come out for boys’ night out because of their wife’s disapproval. I was once that guy. In hindsight, it’s really a healthy thing to do. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/03/24 06:28 AM

Is your ex-wife better off after divorce? What a sad story. Sometimes I feel feminism and society media really get to women’s head and may have contributed to your wife’s issues. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 05:40 AM

Is your ex-wife better off after divorce? It’s really tough whether it’s better for kids or not. I guess it depends on their age during the divorce. But then again the toxic environment as I’ve learn does have an effect on kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 05:25 AM
Is your ex-wife better off after divorce? This is exactly my situation as well. Great husband and provider but yet killed it all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 12:34 AM
Is your ex-wife better off after divorce? It's so sad when I hear no one wins in a divorce. Why would any woman start these divorces despite knowing it may not turn out good. That's something I will never understand from a man's perspective. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 12:27 AM
Is your ex-wife better off after divorce?Sounds like that's where I'm headed. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 12:24 AM
Is your ex-wife better off after divorce?OMG, what you wrote is identical to my situation. My oldest needs therapy and has depression. And he blamed it on our marriage growing up. And honestly, the divorce add more fuel to the fire for his issues. And oh, my STBXW also doesn't a long with their own parents. Wow, your situation is just like mine. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/03/24 12:22 AM

Just Like That, 26 Years. Thanks for this. I’m actually interested in the behavioral aspect because in a way it gives me closure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/03/24 06:34 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years. After what I have gone, it’s exactly what I tell others that have to deal with a BPD. It’s absolutely the most pain experience I have ever dealt with. Especially hard when kids are involved and it’s a shackle for torture. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/03/24 06:27 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.I told her during one of our heated arguments that all I felt like I did and only good at was to give and please others. No one gave a fuck about me, my feeling, and happiness. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/03/24 06:24 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Even this day my wife has not recognized her issues. This is the part of separation that has disappointed.me. You would think this would allow each side to think it over and recognize their own part in this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/03/24 06:20 AM
I never want to do this again.Just know when you pay for her wedding you are building her up to destroy the guy the guy she’s marrying. I’m sorry I know that sounds bad but that’s just the truth. | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/03/24 06:20 AM

Dating other women, dealing with breakupsAin’t that truth. Nowadays, if she’s just average she wants it all. If she’s decent looking watch out and be ready for nightmare of a marriage and get ready to pay some bills down the road. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 04:52 AM
Residual feelingsI think you might have e picked up the battered husband syndrome like me. You could not stop worrying about her. I have the same issue but our separation is starting to help. Just keep busy in life and you will do the same. Stay active and go out with friends. And remember it’s not helping her in the long run. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 04:34 AM
Self-worth is goneWhat you’re going through is normal. At times you will lose your self identity. Concentrate on rebuilding yourself and all those bad feelings will pass. Think how lucky you are to be with your kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 04:27 AM
Asking for a divorceShe’s testing you if she can respect you. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 04:25 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years. That exactly was me. She was hot and the sex was great and that trump all the red sirens coming out of her. It's easy to reflect on this now when you're older and wiser. I met her young and my hormones in full action. But if I could do it again, I would have stayed away. It's not worth it. I hope the younger guys are reading this and do the right thing! | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 12:29 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Seriously, what is causing this? Is the water, the food, the feminism or menopause? This is happening way too often from the feedbacks here. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 12:21 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years. Some women can be very manipulative. It's predator finding their prey. Watch out. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 12:19 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Despite I was the one trying to salvage the marriage I'm do feel it's a blessing in disguise. I'm not going to rock the boat now and let it finish. I know one thing for sure though, if I had been the one filing the divorce, I think it would have been a lot uglier than what I'm going through now. | /r/Divorce_Men | 21/03/24 12:15 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.I’m destroyed beyond what I can put on words. There so much of the abuse I haven’t shared. It really takes someone who’s been through it to truly understand. I’ve cried alone over the years, developed depression because of her, and always asked by myself how she could she treat me this way?? The belittling, the rages, the abuses. It killed me because I had no one to share this with but I had to stay strong for my boys. They were all affected by her and it all came out recently from kids. How can… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 10:44 PM
Just Like That, 26 Years. She always found ways to punish me if I don’t go her way. During our separation I told I will not apologize. I laid out her issues and I was more than willing to work on mine that’s perceived by her. She refused therapy and says she has absolutely no issues. She always behaved this way during our marriage but no more for me. She would have these rages every so often. It’s like she became pure evil. The only thing I can describe it is bi-polar. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 10:38 PM
Residual feelingsThat’s what feminism has taught our women. But unfortunately, there always a sucker out there. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 08:05 PM
Residual feelingsWe men cared too much about our wives. I’m guiltyof this, see my thy thread that I posted here. I had a hard time myself as well. You need to let her fall and move on. You’re actually not helping with her behavior if you continue to carry her along. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 08:03 PM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Yes, it’s truly interesting. As much as I don’t want the divorce, I feel relieved that it’s coming to an end. I have not felt this peaceful for a long time. I now just need to ride the financial hits. Even to this day I still care for her wellbeing but now I want mine for once and willingly come away from it. It's truly my mental shackle for the longest time for the sake of the kids. In any case, there’s no turning back once this is done and I look forward to it. It's actually quite liberating. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 07:44 PM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Whether it’s diagnosed or not, the abuses don’t lie. I’ve been through so much that I should be certified in mental health. One thing for sure though, you can’t help those that can’t themselves including our wives. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 07:38 PM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Everyone close to her thinks peri-menopause could be part of it and I asked to her to seek help but she insisted she’s got no problem there. It’s very frustrating. I warned her she will regret the decision. The crazy part was that even her lawyer asked her to really think it over on the divorce but it’s like she’s in a mission and no one can stop her. Speaking of Hannah Peral Davis, I am a fan and wish I could have married somebody like her. Feminism has destroyed marriages and ruined all the go… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 06:16 PM
Just Like That, 26 Years. It's crazy how our similar our experience is. Everything you mentioned is I what had gone through. You know for me (probably for most men) we go all in in marriages. That's where it hurts the most. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 04:42 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Wow, I feel for you particularly the police arrest part because I had those encounters myself. I had to call the cops when she tried to stab me with a knife. But still I paid to bail her out and never gave up on her. All those experiences had taken a toll on me which caused me to develop depression which I'm still on meds today. Watch out for your mental health and be sure to take care of yourself. I've become an unwilling expert in this field due to my experiences. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 04:17 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years.Yes, it will take time. At the moment I'm totally lost. I don't even know who I am at times. But I do look forward to meeting new friends, places, and life on my own terms. I totally forgot what happiness is. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 04:14 AM
Just Like That, 26 Years. Thanks Brother. I used to frown on guys that walk off marriages but after what I've been through, I'm now preaching them to quit early. The signs are out there. I saw them during mine, but I was young and think I can fix it all. Wish I can go back in time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/03/24 03:04 AM
