Yes, in most cases six weeks actually, because it's a surgery. You can have it done while you're having a C section though (they're in there anyways I guess?) But there are also lots of visits to the doctor and "making sure" you really want to have it done. It's especially difficult if you're a younger woman or a woman who's never had children.
