I went through the same thing and was still messed up in the head 1.5 years afterward. The thing that got me out of it was reading "The Selfish Path To Romance" Throughout the book a ton of stuff just clicked for me and I was able to finally let go (literally feels like a weight off my chest) and now the girls that I'm dating are way hotter and much more aligned with my values. I also take way better care of myself. Check out the book, you might get a lot out of it.
