THANK-YOU!! I always say this. Men get what they ask for when they ask for it. If he's not seeing the kid its because he doesn't want to. They always point to the one man that genuinely got screwed over, and magically 'forget' that they don't see their kid because they didn't show up/ didn't ask. Always easier to blame the mother then to say I'm a shitty dad.

So I guess when you don't get agreement from other women you call them triggered and push them aside? I tell you how I feel, not the other way around. Side stepped everything I brought up too. Yikes.

You seem to think you are giving me insight. You are not. I'm aware of how FDS operates, and I have never said that anyone be less then honest. But there is a difference between understanding the circumstances of a womans life that has led her to being in a very abusive situation, having all of the feeling and judgements about how that has impacted your life- which of course is always allowed and should always be made space for ... and victim blaming. I was responding directly to a comment that …

Like I understand you should always do within your best means to pick your baby daddy's and secure the future. But there are huge dynamics of of classism and woman hating in this thread. I worked for years in a domestic violence shelter and the reasons a woman stays with or returns to her abuser are numerous and complicated. Trauma bonding is real. Having to pick between feeding your kids and being beat or starving is real. Women not having access to or information about birth control and aborti…

Wait, to be clear, so that we do not go off the rails here I'm going to ask for clarification. You said: If "lowering your standards" means making an educated choice when a man discloses herpes to you, or even lies to you, instead of making a blanket statement "STD's are bad!" I need this to be clarified. Because the way I'm reading it makes it sound like if a man discloses his status to me and I reject him with the reason being "STDs are bad" that is not an informed disicion. I have a real prob…

Yes. Outrage. It is outrageous to say it's common and no big deal, I decide what is and is not a big deal when it comes to my body. Its outrageous to say it's expensive to be tested for so why bother instead of fighting for better health care for everyone but especially for women. Like? Once again, you should not be treated with any disrespect for having it. You are a whole person still, regardless of your status and you should always be treated that way. Good information that is backed by scien…

3

Yes I read the same information. My point is saying most people have it so its no big deal is not good enough to not do everything in my power to protect myself. Nothing is a guarantee but I have the tools and knowledge I will use all of them to the fullest extent available to me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 06:03 PM

You say that as if this is a new realization to me. It is not. Also doing many of these things while they do absolutely have to do with not contracting STIs like herpes they also have other reason as well.

I would rather have the best that we have to offer and push for better then throw up my hands and say most people have it oh well who cares.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:58 PM
6

Honestly I disagree. The whole feel of this post seems like it's trying to get people to lower their standards. The first thing I said was it's good to be informed. I have said more then once you should not be stigmatized, or treated poorly and I have also said it's important to have access to free health care and I'm sorry if you dont. And almost every comment back at me has been a questioning of my boundaries. Not ok.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:56 PM
2

I'm sorry you have had to deal with people treating you badly. It's never ok to treat people as less then because of something like this. But I also dont have to change my boundaries for any reason. Period. I will continue to date and enforce my boundaries as I see fit and if my boundaries are not something some else is willing to live up to or respect then I am fine letting them go.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:50 PM

Yes. 1) I do not share glasses, lipsticks, products etc. 2) yes I will and have asked. Why does this seem to be such a divisive thing? What part of my body my choice is suddenly missing from this sub? I read the same content as you and as I have said if you have it you should not be shamed. But it also does not mean you get access to me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:39 PM
2

I also think it probably depends on your country. I am sorry to hear you cannot access free and easy medical care. Regardless that is not ok. But it's also not a good enough reason to say it's too expensive.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:12 PM
10

I didnt say you should be shamed. I said my body my choice. Just because you should not be shamed does not mean you get access to my body. It does not invalidate my no. I will blacklist anyone I want for any reason I want. Period. I also dont think its hysterical to want to protect myself from sti's and demand anyone who wants access to my body be checked thoroughly. Because again, my body, my choice.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 05:10 PM
14

Simple. If you cant get tested your not worth the risk. Period. Like I get what you are saying in so much as spreading information and I think being informed is always good. But your attitude of its common and expensive to test and not big deal is very alarming to me.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy13/02/20 03:38 PM

Good information is good, but if I don't want herpes and I choose to weed people out because of it regardless of how they got it I get to do that. My body my choice still applies as always.

Tell your employer ASAP, tell your friends and neighbours. If he left you with his full name try googling him or finding a LinkedIn profile image so you can distribute it to all the former mentioned people. I agree that men are capable of empathy. Male children display it the same was female children do. I think just as women are socialized to a certain set of behaviours so are men, and one of those behaviors (or set of behaviours) is a belief that men are superior to women, that men are more honest then women, that men work harder then women do. Men display love and affection and empathy for other men all the time (albeit in socially acceptable ways) by looking out for men, defending men, believe …

Men used to provide money and security in past Honestly when? Not security, they were abusive and remain so. As far as money the only women who couldn't/didnt work were upper middle class white women, the rest of women were working and pitching into the household finances. They had more legal control over us, but I disagree to say they ever provided security or money. They just made it so we couldn't control our own money, which is not the same as them providing it.

You have to pay attention to everything about the man. A HVM will handle his shit, a LVM wont and will be a nightmare. Good communication skills before sex, talking about everything from sexual health to possible repercussions about sex (pregnancy) and see how he handles that discussion. But also how does he handle his life in general. Is he responsible in all areas of his life, does he take responsibility for his actions, is he financially independent, does he blame other people for his mistake…

Oof I'm glad you left. Get a vibrator. Honestly you cant really replace intimate sex and cuddling as you know, so if you do not want a fwb, which is totally fine then the truth is while you take time, learn about yourself, and build yourself up you will probably continue to miss those things. Its sucks, but it's ok. If you get a good vibrator it will obviously help with the sex drive a bit, but it will also hopefully help to ensure you are not making decisions because you are horny.

I dont think it's ok that this man did not disclose to you at this point. But I do have a couple of questions. I'm in no way trying to blame or shame you. You do not have to justify who you date or have sex with. 1) were there any other signs that something was off? I mean you mentioned that he was closed off, in what way? So he physically moved away from you and didnt want to touch or talk in that moment. He told you he is depressed (a legit mental illness) however apparently he is seeking helping for it in the form of therapy. Your response to that is to inundate him with questions demanding to know why instead of respecting a boundary and giving him a bit of space. Do I think he handled it well? I mean if every woman everywhere had the ability and desire to do this then maybe they would change. But in order for us to hold them accountable they have to give a shit about what we think and also see us as full people. Which many of them just dont. Men need to hold men accountable because they care about what each other think. Edit : but yeah dont waste your time on porn sick men.

It depends. If I believe we are just no suited I'll say that and wish them well. If they are weird or inappropriate and I know I'm safe ( they dont know where I live etc) ill tell them to fuck off. If I feel they might be dangerous I say we are not good together good bye and block and keep and eye out. Bevause I dont want to provoke someone who could do me real harm. Really the only man I'll explain anything to is a HVM I am rejecting and even then it's likely to be short and sweet.

I'm sorry that's a tough situation. In my experience with men in my family they only change if they want to. If they are open to it. So i think men can change, but it's internally motivated. I totally understand the distance thing. Until very recently I used to live in what sounds like a similar situation- far away from the city but with several close small towns etc. with not much culture. As far as "owing" him, you don't. Men know what they are doing, they dont need an education. The change can only come from within them. Are you able to be part of their babies lives? Be a stable loving auntie? Show those babies that your family does value them? To me that would be the only reason to be part of your brothers lives. Do you communicate to your brothers what they are doing wrong? I disagree. I think it's rare that men are friends with women unless they have something to gain but not impossible. Just like I think HVM are rare but they are still out there. If this man has the ability to have women friends then I dont think she should compromise a friendship just to get practice working a HVM in a romantic sense. He adds value to her life, just because it's not romantic value doesnt mean it should be thrown away.

Your bar is to low, he's clean, doesn't freak out at a normal and uncontrollable bodily function, he didn't try to force sex before you wanted it and he can hold down a job. That's not HVM that's functioning adult. I don't personally consider HVM having female friends a big deal honestly because as a HVM he would see them as full people and would be capable of friendship with them, including setting clear boundaries - that being said I don't know many men that pull it off. On the other hand he s…

Daily blow jobs for a cleaning appliance?? Know what else would take some of that work load off her plate? Being single. One less person to pick up after and no time spent on blow jobs leaves a lot more time for her kids, fucking with the dog(wtf???) And hopefully reading the recommended reading list here. Ooof.

Please block this man. Near the end of your post you said: *He pushed and pushed for me to reveal things before I was ready to speak to him about certain things. *Sexual preferences were discussed- I said I wasn’t into full blown anal and he said we would cross that bridge when we got there. (Lol no) There's a lot of red flags there as you well know but a man who pushes like this will not stop when you are in front of him, when you are alone with him, when you are naked with him. You seem to be on the money with your analysis. They are trying to bring you down to their level by getting a rise out of you, making you act out prove to themselves youre not above them. Be above them. Your already doing what you need to do, getting your degree moving up. Keep it up. It's hard because with a real boyfriend you can just next them and never see them again but family dynamics can be hard to navigate. Honestly I think the word rape get thrown around way too much. It's a very specific violation of what not only should be the safest place in the world, but the the place you have complete control and say over- your own body. People , often men, getting screwed over in various ways, or thinking they are is not rape. So divorce rape doesnt exist. However people who have been divorced can often be screwed over by their previous partner no doubt.

Men could be a support system, but are they is the actual question. And the actual answer in reality is no they have often refused that part of a relationship. Capable has nothing to do with it. Day to day manual labour is only shouldered by men so often because its seen as the man's job and women are discouraged from pursuing it, once again capable has nothing to do with it. my sister is mechanic, my mother does her own home repairs, I could go on.

At no point did I say it was either or, in fact I think that men do in fact get a lot of support and sympathy. But here we focus on women because this is a sub by and for women, so it makes sense that we are focusing on women. Women have a lot of frustration around this topic and others so some comments are venting, sarcastic, or just female focused, our feeling judgements and emotions get to take center stage here. It's a shift from the norm and may take a while to get used to.

There is nothing "wrong" with it. But so often that's all there is. If an issue doesnt affect a man it's not an issue in society at large. Women have been saying for generations the problems with porn and how it affects us (both women who have never participated in the making of porn but also survivors of the sex industry) and women have been treated poorly for speaking up. But if it's a problem for men (erectile dysfunction) NOW it's a problem. Never mind the abuse, neglect, trafficking, hearta…

I dont think men of my generation are worse, I think women are more vocal and more willing / able to walk away. When I've done online dating I've specifically put "no couples" and they still reach out. Right from the jump they disrespect boundaries and then have literally messaged back "lol" or laugh if off. Never an apology. Like we havent even met and your already trying to push boundaries. Nope. If your into it stay safe, I hope you have fun but for those of us who arent please leave us alone.
