It’s trendy and in. The women’s movement has surely done a good job at breaking up families, instead pushing dialogue and trying to rebuild what’s not working. It’s somehow liberating in their eyes, especially the ones who extremely gullible and love echo chambers. Slay Queen! Why do you need a man when you do it all anyways? Like, they don’t even act as if it was a commitment in the first place. Like you both didn’t decide to date, get engaged, then get married, have kids. All decisions both pa…

I don’t know if she has been with anyone, but it’s possible. We’ve hit the Pro Divorce stage where most woman just want to do it themselves- it’s like fuck the commitment we made in marriage and the best for the kids. There was no toxic behavior. So I’d be guessing.

It’s been 1.6 years since separation, 2 months since final divorce. 3 kids under 11, and I still beg like a pathetic asshole. She up and just said it was over one day, while never showing any signs of being unhappy the previous 12-24 months. Monthly dates, getaways 3-4x a year without the kids…. Then just over. She said she fell out of love awhile ago and was ‘pretending’ or telling me things that weren’t necessarily true just to keep pretending until she just decided to end it. I wish the disre…

You have to make more than $15 an hour x40 hours a week. Whether it’s a new job, work OT if available, side gigs, PT jobs. Very few places you can live off $600 a week, and support a family.

Your points are valid, we all handle the grief differently based on how we grew up, and how life has shaped us over the years. My wife asked for a divorce, on the way home from a date night. I felt the tension a few days leading up to this day, but when I approached to chat about what’s going on, she’d shut down. So it was clear she made a decision at that point. Never discussed divorce in our 17 year relationship, with 3 kids under 10. I actually thought 2023-2024 was our best years in a while.…

It’s been 5 months since I’ve moved out and it’s still hard, and I’m sure the holiday season helps with that. However, I’m approaching 2026 a new start, and I’m going to do what I need to do to find what makes me happy again.

The more I think about it, and see the trends. We’re surrounding by divide, and I think the Pro Woman movement is just another tool of theirs to divide even more

Agreed. What’s the actual point when any half of the couple can walk away whenever, just because. It’s just a setup for disappointment. It was manageable when I was young, but 17 years with someone. The thought at re marrying at 45+ just doesn’t make sense. The whole idea of marriage isn’t the same. So I don’t see the point. Just date

I’d chat with your lawyer, because this borders defamation of character. Toxic lies like this can be dangerous long term. Don’t let that shit slide, imo

Regret on her end is settling harder and harder. Women go through the same phase. They either cheat or initiate the divorce. Then you stop talking to you outside of the kids. Then 6+ months or 12+ months, if you start looking happy, in shape, doing well. They get upset. They realize they fucked up with their rash decision making. Then they want you back, and if that can’t happen some can become psychos

Most good moms would never do that. I don’t see the issue with just bringing it up to your lawyer, less the religion, because they won’t care as much about that. However if she’s introducing your son to random men, going over the homes and leaving him in a pool while she’s not watching. That’s neglect.

Need a new gender of ‘gay’. It’s just regular dudes who got shitted on by their partner of many years to be left in isolation and loneliness that team up to raise their kids, while being fiscally responsible and still having sex as they please with females. However it will always be talked out of anything more than a girlfriend.

It was written in our parenting plan specifically that we would rotate. She would have the kids every Christmas Eve starting at 9pm - Christmas Day ending at 6pm in years ending in odd. Then I would get the same in years ending in even numbers. We did that with pretty much every Holiday. This my fist Christmas without them, but Thanksgiving I technically have them. However for their whole life they gone to my in-laws, with us and her sister and their 3 young kids. So the 6 cousins got to mingle …

Oh, and definitely find time to yourself. Which it sounds like you’re trying to. Going to the gym, therapy, anything to get you physically and mentally stronger. Don’t think about it as wrong to ‘take money’. Your kids have needs, and she has a financial responsibility that you shouldn’t let her out of. Especially with the way she’s behaving

Well if she’s allowing your underage kids to drink and smoke to be the ‘cool’ Mom, that will quickly land her in a bad position with the courts. So that would get nipped in the bud. Eventually the teens turn into adults and realize how fucked up Mom was behaving by just feeding them drugs as teenagers, and taking down about you to manipulate them. She’s not helping shape their future in a positive way at all. Even more reason to stay and get a judge involved. Those teenagers are still your kids …

That’s a tough situation, but don’t over react and up and leave the state. As unbearable as it is (i lived with my ex for 10 months while waiting for our lease to be done), do it for the kids. They deserve it, and as long as you maintain your posture and just try and be strong without being toxic like she is. Your kids will eventually see through that, they’re not dumb. Your youngest sounds like he needs his Dad the most. Contact a lawyer, explain your situation and get through the process with …

When she changed her FB profile picture that was always the 5 of us, to a picture of just her and the kids. About 18 months later she told me we’re divorcing. So that’s when I felt the moment of shift, though I tried to prove my worth to her and our family ignoring the shift and the she just ended it randomly one night. Household felt “normal”, no major fights, still intimate , said ILY daily with a kiss, date nights every month, went away for a week to Mexico and long weekend to a casino in CT,…

I appreciate you sharing more of your story, as I can understand where you’re coming from to a certain extent. You’re right as well when it comes to doing the work to better yourself. You’ve seem to now give her the tools to help her succeed at this, since she struggled for so long trying to fix on her own. Now it’s up to her to take action and make it work. I would still consider at least once a month to see a couples counselor. Sometimes just her, hearing you explain the ongoing issue and how …

This is how my STBX justified leaving me, less the communication part by the wife of being unhappy. If yall constantly fight, or abuse occurs, or adultery, or some sort of toxicity then divorce is an obvious serious consideration. If it’s a matter of being unhappy to some changes you’ve made (healthy changes), don’t leave her behind - but help her understand more of your needs to be happy, also find out her needs to be happy and collectively work together to be better partners for eachother and …

I’m not suggesting I was perfect, or the marriage was. I don’t think that exists. I also never said issues that were brought up occasionally were not important. Anytime she was unhappy with something specific that I did or just in general with how things were going, I didn’t ignore those. We talked about it. If something I did hurt her, I always took accountability for hurting her, as each time an instance was brought up for something I did wrong in her eyes was never meant to hurt her. I didn’t…

Well, you’re assuming my situation. My STBX wife didn’t alert me of any issues that screamed divorce or even hinting at. So when things operate as ‘normal’ and my partner never brings up the ‘issue’ that broke the camels back, then how do fix the problem? 3 months before she said divorce we went on a trip to Mexico, where we said I love you daily as always, and were intimate. 3 months before that I switched careers for a lower paying job up front, with a healthier paycheck on the back end (commi…

You can make excuses for her if you want. But what problems or issues? There isn’t any. No out of the norm issues that couldn’t be addressed by the married couple. Your partner is suppose to be your best friend, and if you choose to go to other friends with your marital problems opposed to your partner. That’s a problem. Marriage needs to be fixed from within, not from the outside.

Yup, 100%. That’s what I mean when I said her TikTok algorithm was like an echo chamber just positively reinforcing the idea of divorce for any reason. No care for the effects of divorce for anyone but themselves. The husbands and kids end up suffering.

I’m in 1.5 years post divorce and still feel this pain, and I know I was good to her, and I know she is selfish and decided what to do that was best for her in her eyes. We talked about breaking generational cycles like you did, but nope. I mean I held my end of the bargain and never called her a bitch or any sort of derogatory name. Here’s my baby boy: https://ibb.co/1JJSG2tK Yea, I’m a very ‘planned’ person as well, as I need to know what I’m doing well ahead of time. If you’re not happy, ultimately walking away would be the best option. It’s not great for the kids, as deep down they crave and do thrive better in a 2 parent household. However if the household is just depressing, with no one trying to make it work - then that’s not ideal for the kiddos either. So if giving them the best life in terms of support and all would be better in 2 homes because of the relationship, then yes. You absolutely should move on if you can’t find a way to be happy. Can I ask,…

Damn, that sucks dude. Nothing worse than fake people. You’re better off alone for support than that. I’m 45, only have 2-3 buddies I would call friends, they are there but they also have families and the last thing I want to do is put my shit on his plate, as if life is busy enough. So it’s tough, but knowing you have one person who can make you feel seen, like when you received that hug, is all you need sometimes and it’s often better that way.

I never thought about it until now, as my divorce isn’t official and dating seems like a distance for me at this point. I can see though how women might automatically dismiss divorce men. This divorced taught me they tend to stick together without full context. They almost feel the need to support the woman no matter what. It’s the ‘pro-woman’ thing to do. As a man, you’re a red flag because you didn’t properly support your wife, which caused the divorce. I feel that’s the angle most women feel …

Well if he asked for a divorce, hopefully he had a plan on how to move forward. First thing is, living arrangements. One or both need to move, quicker the better, especially if she’s acting out. Not sure what a 53 year old does nowadays to act out, but move out and anything negative she does while he’s around her, he should document. Any kids involved? If so, that’s a dynamic that should be asked to a family court lawyer in his state on best way to proceed based on her actions. Was their a “brea…

Your feelings are always valid dude. Just cause we’re guys, doesn’t meant we can’t feel our emotions as needed. As someone who’s finalizing things now with my divorce. It sucks. I didn’t feel the unhappiness she described when she randomly one night decided to tell me it was over. She’s 100% final. So the last year+ has been hard. I miss my kids, seeing them only half the time. It breaks my heart, because they deserve 2 loving parents under 1 roof. So here’s the gist of what I’m getting. If I’m understanding your analogy right, here’s what your saying in plain terms: Your ex is basically cutting the kids off from their dad and making them fully dependent on her. She controls every part of their lives, tells them lies about you, and paints you as dangerous so they grow up scared of the very person who loves them. Then she flips it around and claims only she can keep them “safe,” when in reality she’s the one creating the problem. So it’s no…

It’s hard with young ones. My 4 year old asked me the other day if Mom fired me. I laughed, cried a little and said Ya, basically. It’s how it understands it at his age. His mom wasn’t happy, but he asked, and I’m going to be honest, without complicating it for a 4 year old. Certain things along this journey will hit our soul hard. It proves you at least care. Just try to stay strong for the babies, and focus on yourself and healing.

Going through divorce now in my mid 40s. While dating isn’t on my mind anytime soon, once the time comes I’m not looking forward to it. I’m definitely not marrying again, as that’s just for show and paperwork. Otherwise it’s a bogus arrangement imo. Is she really into religion? There’s lots that just ‘follow in Christ’s footsteps’ and the pray to Jesus for guidance and seem to have a solid family bond. I’m going through a divorce as well, and neither of us are religious and consider ourselves agnostic. So we didn’t have a mutual, magic type bond that some experience when they have faith. Maybe if my STBX and I had a similar bond/faith it would have strengthened our family. It’s too late for me to think backwards now.

I agree. I think society has changed, empowering women to be more independent and happier that way. My wife divorced me out of left field last year because she was ‘unhappy’. Very vague, no discussion about why and how we can fix, just wanted to divorce because she believes it will be easier and life will be more enjoyable. I didn’t see any signs of it coming. 18 years together, 3 kids and I’m starting over at 45 it feels like. It’s painful, and I wish her lack of about caring out me and just divorcing without any indications we have issues to work on. I just moved into a small apartment 2 weeks ago, then got terminated from my job. Life hurls shit at you and we just need to figured it out. I have a psychiatrist who h…

Do you see your kids or have custody at all? I’m dealing with it now. I invested my last 18 years into this marriage. This was the only family I had. Plus her family, which I loved. My SIL, my beautiful nieces. None of which I have in my side of the family, because none of us are close, proximity or emotionally. So yeah, to just be kicked to the curb, and feel abandoned by your family is a real feeling, and it’s not easy. I feel that and the loneliness daily. I feel it a lot less when my kids ar…

We’re no longer living in a society where marriage means what it was meant to. It takes 2 to agree on marriage, and just 1 to walk away for any reason so justify. 18 years together, 12 married, 3 kids 10 and under and while things weren’t perfect, they weren’t toxic, we didn’t fight. She just said she doesn’t want to be with me, and wants what’s best for her. What’s crazy, She even admitted TikTok helped her solidify these feelings. It’s a ProDivorce, woman empowerment, freedom thing. They no lo…

I don’t think in any state you can be removed until the divorce is finalized. On some Insurance plans and States you can legally stay on up to 3 years after divorce.

I feel you man. There’s no answer on how to heal or how long it’s going to take. I’m 11 months in ‘pre divorce’ with 3 kids. We both left our house and got apartments, but she’s moved on and I’m here lost (45yo). People tell me find a hobby, vent via therapy. All on my to do lists, but maybe those will be helpful for you too.

I told her at the time that I would never her tell her not hang out friends, I said but remember you chose a family lifestyle not a single one. She still comes home at 3am semi wasted. Wakes me up that night like a goofball. Happened a handful times within our last 3 months together. Now that it’s over, i told her “i told you so, married woman with kids who wants a family doesn’t hang out at bar or pool hall with a single friend until 3am’. She enjoyed that lifestyle. She wants to be single

Yea. It’s a pretty unfair, but the system is setup for no faults and people change and just do what they feel is best for them. 18 years together, gone in somewhat of a flash. It sucks, because I was being led on the last few years, trying to be a better husband (been dealing with heavy depression, medical issues, ect), she told me I was doing great, and my effort to not only work but help more around the house has been noticed, ect. I told my wife the same thing in the beginning, and how disappointed and ruined (amongst other things) I was because of my parents divorce, and how it’s not good kids. The Pro women empowerment movement shows a ‘grass is greener’ campaign, so I think it’s coommon. Especially with women in mid 30s-40s

We had problems. We fixed* them. Petty thing in my eyes, but more important to her. This is 5-7 years ago, after she had more kids with me. Things felt fine to me. We unfortunately didn’t see each other a much when started to work. 2 years ago she decided she wanted to go back to work and not be a SAHM. Maybe she wanted more independence, maybe she fell out of love. She never showed it as she said I love you the same day she later divorced me. I gave her 18 years of my life to her, to try and bu…

You won’t be happy unfortunately if nothing fixes or changes for the good. You should let her know it that point were we should talk about divorce. You obviously want the kids happy obviously, but is she’s not happy and the kids see it. It really does no good for them, rather damage.

Exactly. My wife had her 2 echo chambers (one who’s never been married and one who plans to divorce someday) plus this social movement. She even admitted who pro divorce her TikTok feed became, with women saying how much happier they are now. Easily influenced while i was just begging to do what it takes to keep us together.

Is she helpful at all? I have you had convos with her or tried therapy? These were things I wish my wife did before she said it’s over. Though I’ve always been nice to her, and she just was hiding her true emotions, or she found someone else, and she’s being dishonest. It’s all in the table tbh, but I need to move forward either way. I would say if you’ve had those convos then yes, tell her we need to either divorce or do couples therapy (if it’s not too late for you). Be happy man

I’m not sure i understand completely, but we have 50/50. We’re involving courts in as little ways as possible. My kids are legit my only drive at the moment, and they’re my focal point. Keeping them safe and loved is my priority.

Yea. It’s insane, and I see it too often. Theres also a large women’s movement about empowerment and doing it on your own can make you so much happier. It’s the pro divorce society that also helping them justify it as not a huge deal.

Yea. Thanks for the response. The kids are definitely the priority, and when we talked about Divorce with them they seemed ‘ok’. My 7 year old was emotional, but now she’s picking out decor for the STBX apartment and she’s a little excited. So if they are happy, that’s most important. I just never saw it coming because the 2 years leading up to divorce we seemed to be doing better, but apparently she’s still holding on to the resentment even though I’ve made a bunch of changes to try and make her happy. She said in the past (3+ years ago) she didn’t feel supported enough as a SAHM, emotionally, with help around the house. I worked a lot to support the family, which was my reasoning. I’m not surprised. More women are working, and don’t need to depend on husbands for income. So the independence movement is real, and this is per more STBX. Social media is pro divorce for women, and tells them they will be happier independent. Which is all BS imo, life’s expensive. With 3 kids especially. So being independent isn’t always the way, but social media influencers push it as it’s easy, and you’ll be happier. When in reality we now have 2 places to live, we have to pay them individua…

You didn’t fuck up. You did what it seems all us men do, and try to keep our commitment while keeping the fam together, riding the ups and down. It’s this independent woman movement. They can find any reason to be unhappy, but instead of trying to communicate and try to work on things they must divorce. So many tic toks, videos on it. Let her go, she seems to be a bit toxic, especially putting you down in front of kids. No excuse for that BS
/r/Divorce_Men28/05/25 01:29 PM

Yup. Exactly. Marriage seems pointless to me now. Commitment isn’t a word that’s acknowledged anymore. One person can just end things for whatever reason, no chance to fix or discuss things. It was just a random day for me. “I’m unhappy and have been, I want a divorce, and my decision is final”.. while weeks before she was telling me she loves me and appreciates my hard work. Just lies until she was ready to do her own thing. It’s pathetic. 18 years together, 3 kids under 10, gone in an instant.

It random lots of times these days. My wife of 12, 2 kids randomly told me one night she’s been unhappy for a long time, and wants a divorce. Final decision. Though a month before she was telling me how much she loved me and appreciated me. Can’t try to make sense of it. I personally think it’s trendy to be an independent divorced woman nowadays.

Yea. I started a new commission job that takes 2 years to build a pipeline to start making real money. Thanks for sharing. Extremely helpful. I still want to be a family unfortunately, this was her out of the blue. Not sure if she cheated or not, doesn’t really matter if she’s 100% checked out. I sorta want my kids to know I fought hard to no break is up, but Mom feels differently. It’s not that I want them to hate her more, I just don’t ever want them to hold resentment towards me, when I wanted this to work, not dissolve. If she has mental related issues and isn’t attempting to fix them with therapy or meds, then yes I would absolutely intervene. Mental illness is tough. I deal with it daily, even more so since my wife asked for a divorce I didn’t see coming. My strength comes from my 3 kids, because I just want what’s best for them. So I’m constantly working on myself between therapy and psychiatrist it has helped a lot. While still not perfect, it allows me to be present for my kids and fight through mental par…

I need therapy and maybe you do too? I found out last August my wife is divorcing me. So now it’s the process. It hasn’t gotten easier for me. My psychiatrist just keeps increasing meds.

I’m in the midst of it now. It’s the most painful thing I’ve experienced. Every day is a day closer to healing for good. We’ll get there.

If there are no kids involved it sounds brilliant to get a fresh start. I’d go for it.

I think a support group is a good idea for sure. I would also think about 1 on 1 therapy. They can be really helpful in these situations.

I’m 45 and starting over too. Started a new position last year, took a huge pay cut because those job was commission and the pipeline took awhile to fill, but thought my STBXW would be helping covering expenses. I can’t afford to live anywhere in my area it’s so over priced right now. I’m like you, unsure what to do but continue to grind it out. I’m not sure what kind of sales you were doing but if it’s retail, around here mattress and furniture do real well and make 80k+ Best of luck either way…

I’m going through a divorce as well. I’m 45, 3 kids 10 and under. It’s hurts to see how quickly my wife seems unhurt by all this. She goes out with her friends. She’s willing to move from a nice house we live in to a mobile park. She’s also been sorta checked out for a couple months prior to dropping the news of divorce, which I didn’t expect. I always expected to work on things prior to something like this, but women seem to just plan this on their own nowadays, get themselves prepared, then dr…

I feel this. The waves can come on strong. I’m prescribed Valium because I couldn’t physically take it. That’s not that best route for everyone though.

If we could both afford to live solo without sacrificing our locations and kids school systems, it would be so tough. Not that it’s easy now but at least our kids are good.

Oh she made the decision to do this partially because she’s back at work from being a SAHM for 7-8 years. She thinks she can afford life without me. Right now she makes more than me, but I expect that to change in the next 6 months.
