Do you or other guy also experience that girls seem to give out their numbers relatively easily, but in truth don't want to continue the conversation? It's gotten to a point where getting the number seems actually easier than setting up the date or just starting the conversation via text. The girls I've asked about his afterwards said they gave their number because they had trouble saying "no" to people.

I don't keep track of my total approaches. But in the last few weeks, I had 8 number closes. The 2 girls that wanted to take my number instead of giving me theirs never contacted me. Thanks for the answer! It was my first approach that day and I was a bit nervous, but it still seemed to me that she was at least intrigued (her eyes went wide and she "fixed" her hair away when I opened her). But she had an important meeting and was in a hurry, so I had maybe 30 seconds to lead her from open to close. I guess I'm not that good (yet).

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
