Because that’s divorce…I lost two paid off houses and spent $100,000 on legal fees. Thats life. If I was in your shoes my kids would be in therapy and I’d do DoorDash at nights. You can complain and rant but that’s not helpful.

Counter petition for sole custody. You have a better case. Counter on a temporary basis until she finds rooms for them. Grandparents shouldn’t have them all of the time during her time. That’s what I would do. She would likely drop it then.

Depends if you’re divorcing or the one being divorced. I divorced my first wife and it was easier to get over…in the moment…it took years to finally do it. Second wife divorced me and was a walk away. The second one was tremendously hard to process.

You need to chill on this. You’re only frustrating yourself. Neither of these women are your woman. I call these wife helpers “The Vagina Mafia”, that’s how they act. Does he have lawyer? The only correct answer is “yes, he does”. She cannot sue him for not signing…she’s an idiot. Reference this, it’s important. Start here, this is generally true: 1 year of marriage is almost nothing. Most places are now default 50/50 custody. Assets and debts get split 50/50 The highest income spouse will pay differential child support. Give them only the documents they need and they do need a lot. Her attorney would be terrible attorney if she did not browse through everything. Most of it they upload to a software to red flag items…mainly in bank statement. Anything that they don’t need that is harassing…have your attorney object to it. You don’t have to turn in every document. Turn in what you can reasonably find. If it takes an hour that reasonable. If it takes four hours, that’s unreasonable in my book. Don’t create documen…

Ok buddy. You sound triggered over my life. Yet, I’m insecure? That’s an interesting take. You made a long comment to try and communicate just that. My advice is all over this sub, so you have plenty of “emotional intelligence” to pull from. Do you feel better now?

You can’t carry a marriage by yourself. If her effort won’t change then you have no choice. But let her know if she doesn’t meet you halfway that she will end up single. Give her 3 months and then check back in and review how it’s going. Whatever issues you have…work on those 3 months. That’s a short amount of time to absolutely make sure

Well, you already started off wrong… You don’t file for divorce and then ask questions. So you have that going for you. You should have opened a separate account, redirected income, saved for a lawyer, and established yourself as a 50/50 parent. So what do you do now. Get a lawyer, stop talking to her, prepare for the worst but hope for the best. You already appear to be headed towards war. Stop talking to her, pay her nothing, call your mortgage company and ask for a two payment deferral. Say n…

I’m having a hard time following. She lives at her mom’s or is a roommate? Are you regularly intimate? Is she in therapy and prioritizing it? I’m not even sure what you’re wanting? Here’s my usual advice. When a marriage appears to possibly be saved with kids…save it. Divorce is destructive there’s no happy outcome. There is just survival, healing, and taking your new baggage with you and hoping for the best. If the marriage appears not-salvageable, then hope for the best but prepare for the wor…

I can only speak in hindsight. Early on I had real trouble dealing with it. In hind site I realized how much I had to walk on egg shells, how every communication had to be analyzed before hand, words evaluated and chosen, reactions guessed at. You need at least 1 month for every year of marriage with a minimum of a year to heal. Don’t date. All you will be doing is trying to plug a hole in you. It’s not fair to the other person or yourself. They need to be their own individual and not a proxy for a soon to be ex wife. As far as intimacy and divorce…your marriage is over. That’s not a ship that sailed it’s a ship that sunk. It’s over when someone says “I want a divorce” or files the paperwork whichever comes first. That’s not a time to…

Parental alienation crosses over from being bad to just being evil. Every single study shows that the more a father is involved the better the children do. They do better academically and emotionally. Although data is limited…two gay fathers as the only parental figures rates highest of all. Men fall on their sword…that’s what my first divorce attorney told me. You hope for the best but plan for the worst…and the worst is war. You can be nice if you choose to after the divorce is finalized but there is no kindness in divorce. Kindness is like handing the other party a loaded weapon and telling them to aim for your head. Then you have that shocked piccachu face when they pull the trigger. You paid a really high price to learn an extremely valuable lesson. That’s a fair exchange. Othe…

Well, it’s a weird dynamic you are allowing to happen and have continue to feed. What advice do you want? How to unfk this? That’s simple but maybe not easy. You stop talking to your ex. You shouldn’t be talking about anything except the kid’s health needs. You parallel parent not coparent. You don’t respond to anything but very important matters that involve your children. If you can’t put boundaries on an ex wife why in the world would you bring someone else into this? Your wording about “tell…

I think most men post divorce or during divorce have to be more aware of misogynistic feelings. Being aware of them and pushing them down are good. It’s also fine to be aware of the bell curve and human behavior which is wrapped in culture, gender, and societal norms. It’s fair to feel like divorce weighs in favor of women. It’s fair to wonder what women bring to the table as wives. It’s fair to wonder if they are worth dating. It’s a whole lot of work for mediocre sex and likely ends with relat…

You’re being played. I have no advice for you. If you do pursue this again, then it starts over from zero. You still need a year or so to heal so date for a couple of years and watch for consistency and her working on herself. You are two totally different people with far more baggage. Treat it as such. Be wary, acknowledge the red flags, look for her to do some heavy lifting

You don’t get to be sick when they are with you and them getting sick because you are is just what happens sometimes. Don’t depend on the ex for anything. She’s not your wife, partner, or teammate and likely wants nothing to do with healthy coparenting. As they used to say…cowboy up

50/50 custody, 50/50 split of post marital assets, the higher income earner pays differential child support if applicable. That’s it. Divorces are spreadsheets if you both allow them to be. Otherwise waste money to have a judge tell you both to figure it out at final trial. He’ll send you to the hallway and you’ll be out there like high schoolers wondering how you spent $30k to get to that point in life.

There are two types of TROs, then one that lies and the one you earned. Sounds like you are the second one. You need to get enrolled in anger management immediately and start therapy with an app at the least. This is a third party that will interview everyone. Divorce is destructive. I also had issues with my life being put on display. Divorce wise: You don’t leave your kids. That will impact your custody argument. There is an argument to be made about abandonment. You don’t leave the house unless a judge orders it. Man wise: You don’t leave your kids… 50/50 custody is the hill you die on. You don’t get to abandon your family because it’s too much. You exhaust all options TWICE! Then if there are still issues you divorce and you don’t leave your kids and you don’t leave the house.

There are two parts to judgements. The judgement and enforcing the judgement. They have to enforce those judgements if you are as broke as you say then look at bankruptcy or just don’t pay until it builds and then bankrupt. They can’t force you to pay what you don’t have. Bankruptcy is a tool that if you go too far negative you reset to zero

Going through my second divorce. The first I initiated. The second was initiated on me. 4 children with two baby mommas. That’s not the man I thought I was or dreamed about as a child but it’s my road. I regret both divorces. Not because they were perfect marriages. They were not… I regret them because I have to look in the mirror and wonder if I tried hard enough. I am trying to help you face the man in your mirror and do it with your head held high. It’s over. When your spouse starts being on their phone like that it means competition entered the room and you are now competing. No one can compete with a “what if” and dreams of a better life. They have the advantage because you drag the marital baggage behind you. She’s emotionally divorced you. 90% of divorces are initiated by women and they emotionally divorce you months and sometimes years before they build up enough internal reason to execute in such a huge decision. At the point they em…

Son…you better save that marriage. Divorce is a last resort after you have tried everything else twice. Everything else! It’s not about you it’s about your family and child. That’s your tribe brother and you don’t leave it because she doesn’t want to live your life. You talk to her, compromise, find what things you can enjoy together. We all want to be loved. People need each other. Both women and men do better together than separately. There are a lot of caveats to that. “The heart wants what the heart wants” is usually the dynamic. There is nothing wrong with marriage just get a prenup…a “his, hers, and ours”; that mandates 50/50 custody of children and differential offset child support. If it’s in her name it’s hers, if it’s in his name it’s his, if it’s in both names it gets split 50/50. Some people like being parents and…

Divorce is a last option after every other option has been exhausted twice…when you have children together. No one wins in divorce. No one is a better a person. It also affects the children. I have been through one divorce in Texas and am going through a second and I own multiple businesses. Typically each party pays for their own lawyers. You can be forced to pay but that is not the norm. You may have to allow her to open a credit card to pay and that would be a debt in her side of the spreadsheet that you will be responsible for helping cover. If you agree to her opening the credit card. Just drag your feet and only pay if a judge orders it. If it’s premarital property you can arg…

You’re fine brother. Courts have to be overly cautious that’s why that strategy is used so much. Go no contact, handle everything through the lawyer, don’t believe that gas lighting. It shows her character and not yours. Just remember with the next relationship they will likely do the same thing. The Silver Bullet is a gut wrenching tactic but an extremely powerful lesson that you learn and can pass on to other men when they need advice.

The risks are too high to do pro se unless there are almost no assets and no children. Keep fighting. Unless you signed something at mediation it is not binding. Blocking is not good for you or her or the both of you if you are not going to do it permanently. I don’t have any tolerance either. I am getting more resigned to just being single but curious. It is a lot of work finding a relationship, investing in a relationship only to know that if it blows up it will cause pain. The risk is not worth the reward

In this house you have about 48 hours to eat it or hide it. You sure you want to divorce her. That kind of energy is way better than the burn your life down energy

Married too quickly. Didn’t heal from the first divorce. I told her too much was too vulnerable. I also made myself walk on eggshells around her.

You didn’t choose it but you can choose how you go through it. Don’t own things that are not your fault. Keep moving forward. The kids have brains and they will figure it out. Just do the best that you can

This is just how it works. When they don’t have to put any effort in who they are can just be free. This experience is not true in every situation but it is true enough in most situations. It is not you. It is them.

That is the truth. You have to grieve them like they are dead

Can you get an annulment? What you are feeling is normal. Try and realize it is emotions based around who you thought she was and the life you thought you would have together. In other words…you are distraught about a fantasy that never existed

No one wins in divorce. Only lawyers win. Is very true unless actual physical abuse is happening or abuse of children. As a man you have to pay women to go away. You have to pay to not see your children even though you want to see them. You get accused of things that you did not do. I have been to war on two continents and been through divorce twice. I would choose war every single time

It’s a tactic and extremely common for women. It is a way to duck responsibility and reinforce their decision to themselves and others. I have never hurt a woman in my life. My mom beat me with closed fists. My second wife would punch me randomly. I have never touched a woman in anger. I heard the same things. Don’t believe it. Don’t give in to gaslighting. Abuse is consistent and meant to tear the other person down and hurt them. The goal is to hurt them and make them feel less. Abuse is not…cr…

Yep…men should all be gay. Their lives would be easier. The four people in my life that I have grievances with are women. Even my abusive father I came to terms with because I understood why he did what he did. For me…I don’t understand their actions so it is hard getting over the pain

You are comparing women to who you thought she was. You are comparing them to what you thought your future would be. I felt the same as you. Time helps a lot. Start looking at women not as sex. Start looking at very specific character traits. When you see a woman that you think you might be interested in do a full stop. Then pay attention to one or two character traits. What snapped me out of it was a single mom that loved her kids tremendously. Watching her parent became very attractive. My ex …

Like what? Are you yelling? Cussing? What? You are allowed to have emotions. You are allowed to not get a long. You are allowed to argue. Courts care far less than people think. Don’t put hands on, don’t curse, don’t be excessive. My wife recorded everything and nothing came up in court and so have plenty of ammunition. Courts simply don’t care, there are time limits, there are priorities. It is not Perry Mason..,it is not a murder trial. Judges see drama every single day. The paranoia about stu…

People have sex. Your takeaway is you should have divorced five years ago. That was your mistake. Don’t beat yourself over the rest of it. At ten in California you have the spousal support battle now. Give her nothing. Stand your ground, you are now enemies. You can be nice when the divorce is over if you want. Make her earn every dollar. Shit make her spend two to get one

I just started the journey through my second divorce. I know exactly what you are feeling. This time around I have a 1 year old and have to juggle a stbx that has mental health struggles. I can’t treat her like a peer because she is in a mental health crisis. I also have to look out for the best interest of my son. So I get to come third.

yeah that is what I have been told and what I also I think. She obviously wanted this even before the marriage which is strange and even disturbing. Thank you for sharing
