It's sad that this is a possibility, but maybe she knew someone? That's the only plausible explanation I could put together, especially since the article says qualified female firefighters have no problem passing the test and they even excel compared to their male counterparts. It also states this is the first time they ever hired someone that failed the test. She has to know someone on the inside. That's the only [ir]rational explanation I could think of.

I agree completely. As someone once said, a woman has the choice to have an abortion, so the male should have the choice to have an abortion from the child - to absolve him from all responsibility to the child. I'm of the belief that the "real" woman campaign is merely an ad and should be taken at face value and nothing else. That's interesting. My girlfriend's brother is also an actuary, but I've never asked him this. On a related note, I called my insurance company yesterday to get a quote for a different car. Out of curiosity, I also asked them when the premium difference would be if I was a female, and driving record and age remained the same (I'm 28). My premium is actually $100/yr less than what a female's would be.

I'm Canadian too (Ontario) and we don't pay any health insurance premiums directly. Maybe they think males are more likely to cost the system more when they're younger, but then pregnancy and related hospital stays seems to be forgotten about.

I would never bash feminism, but I'd stand up for equality. It seems like most of the people in this subreddit are like me. On the other hand, it seems like everybody against this subreddit are quite radical and do not stand for equality. I would've loved to protest against the people protesting the men's rights speakers at U of T recently. But I never had the chance.

I think you should send letters and show up for court if it goes that far, but remember, with things like this it's very easy to let emotions affect your behaviour. I'm not saying you wouldn't, but if you're a witness, or when/if you write letters, remember to always maintain respect for the judge, lawyers, police, DA, the female "victim", etc. Your testinony may quickly be dismissed if you fail to do so.

In reality, there are female aggressors as well. I think men deal with issues differently, we're taught to suppress it until we lose control. How many men's centres are there at universities to talk about different issues? There certainly isn't a lack of women's support services, providing them a way out, and a solution.
