I have been cheated on by men I've dated, but I haven't been cheated on by every man I've dated.

Agreed. But men don't use much logic so they don't see it that way.

-confesses he has "commitment issues", "has trouble getting close to people", or is otherwise avoidant -claims he's over his ex but complains about her a lot -lies about having children -lies about relationship status -"it's not a big deal", "you're overreacting", "you're too sensitive", "it's just a joke" -"she's just a friend" tells you how special you are, how he's never felt like this before, but for some reason still can't commit 🙄

Yes. And sometimes they cover it up REALLY well. It's a total mindf*ck.

Yes OMG. Such wisdom!!!!!! This needs to be said more. We are so used to being blamed and blaming ourselves for everything that we need to realize LV and NV men will have "those" ideas no matter what, and it's not implicitly our fault, we didn't bring on disrespectful behavior, they are disrespectful people.

It sounds like you need to be more picky about who you let into your circle!! You are definitely not crazy.

Yes yes yes!!! I looked at the post (which is a great start), and realized I've known some subtly poisonous men who had all the traits mentioned. So I thought they had to have been HV. What they didn't have were the things you mentioned, and a HVM definitely has the traits you listed.

I have. I think some others who frequent this sub have, as well. HVM are out there, they are just really rare.

I keep trying to tell my best friend that. She is with a man with TWO ex-wives, and she wants to get married. She's hinted. He knows. They've been together almost two years. He won't give her a straight answer, dances around the subject and deflects, saying she's "not like other women" he's ever met. She told me she understands why he doesn't want to marry her yet- he tells her that he ruined things with the last two marriages he doesn't want to ruin the "connection" they have. And I'm like... I…

Exactly!! It's a completely different world dating a HVM! It goes beyond them simply not teasing or berating you, or them "putting up with" your interests. They enjoy the things you enjoy because it makes you happy. Those things are on their radar because it makes them think of you. They want to be helpful about it in any way they can. Even if they wouldn't do the thing in their spare time they still enjoy you enjoying it and want to be a part of it.

Men can't even feel responsible for their own behavior, let alone the behavior of a bunch of other men. That would require self awareness, compassion, and empathy.

I used to talk to a guy who would constantly bring up how the wage gap doesn't exist, and if there are women who think they should be paid more, they should have to fight for it like all the men do. I had no words to encompass the amount of male privilege, lack of empathy, lack of understanding, and overall systemic damage I would have to unravel to begin to make a point.

Forgive yourself. You and many others (myself included) have experienced that effed up chemical stew known as trauma bonding. It's addictive, and comforting, in the most disturbing ways possible. And you know what? It's understandable to experience missing that, and the feelings that come with it. That's is what bonding is. That's what trauma does. It hijacks our brain. Being angry is also understandable. You are allowed to feel anger! Healing isn't linear. There are going to be days where you d…

I was just thinking about this earlier today!! We think most men are Low Value, when they are actually Negative Value. Sooooooo many Negative Value dudes out there. When we meet a real LVM, he's at least better than the NVM we've seen. So we mistakenly think the LVM could be a HVM- simply because he's different than the majority of men we've met.

Yessss. Yes to all of you. I'll be turning 40 this year. Never in my life have I felt better. I also stayed away from the creepy older men when I was younger, because they were and always will be gross. Every now and then through my late 20s to early 30s I would have small moments of panic, because I was still indoctrinated at the time to believe I was getting close to hitting the "wall". But what I've learned is that ladies aren't the ones who hit the wall. It's men. They know it and they proje…
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/05/20 11:29 PM
25

Totally. And what's so funny is that the whole women "hitting a wall" when they age is more projection. Most men age SO much worse than most women. If a woman does hit a "wall" you can guarantee that a NVM/LVM is behind it, and if she dumps him her glow up is fantastic.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy06/05/20 11:15 PM

Wtf?? This reads like a soon-to-be serial killer wrote it.

Yup. A whole lot of projection going on with him.

But then they have fantasies about women who are out chasing goals and dreams and don't give a fuck about them. Women can't win.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy02/05/20 05:50 PM
35

On top of that, giving them space to vent, being empathetic, and simply listening makes them somehow think less of you. They literally cannot appreciate it. Like "hey she listens to all my bullshit, there must be something wrong with her, she's weak and can't put me in my place". And then they go look for a woman who doesn't put up with any of that shit for a relationship.

Honestly it sounds like you just don't respect him or his opinions. Let him do what he wants in his free time. Looking at other women isn't touching so it's not cheating. You need to work on your own self esteem. /s

Yes. This. When you are overly understanding (being open to shifting plans), empathetic (not wanting him to have to spend $80 for a cleaning fee), or do something nice for a man (baking anything for him), especially one who hasn't committed to you, you are telling him you aren't high enough quality to be treated with respect. The less work you make for them, the less they value you. It's tough to understand, because women are not wired that way. Save your thoughtfulness for your family and close…

Right? Admittedly this was a couple years ago. And you're totally right, the amount of likes means nothing if you aren't getting them from quality people. I wasn't in any rush, it wasn't an app I spent much time on. I honestly wasn't even really excited about it- at the time it was something completely new to me, and I had just moved, so I thought I would give it a try. I'm highly introverted, and happy alone, so I didn't care if I didn't find anyone quickly or at all. Being patient is key. Ever…

Because most men are super judgmental, and they project that onto women. And they think the world revolves around then. They think we are judging them in the same sort of bizarre competitive hierarchy they judge each other, and then acting like bitches to them specifically because we think they are somehow subpar. When really it's like... Dude I just want to get on with my day without having to interact with anyone. It's not personal. But, they are incapable of not taking it personally. God forb…

I didn't know how great consistency was until I found him. Heck, I don't think I even knew what it was first-hand until I started dating him! I used Match. It was the one time I used an app, and the only app. I was very hesitant about it. I used it off and on for a couple months, waded through a ton of LVM hitting me up, and went on a couple meh dates before I matched with him. He really stood out from the start.

I'm dating one! He's awesome :) We met on OLD of all places. The biggest difference between him and the LVM men I've dated is his consistency. He's consistently kind, respectful, caring, providing, etc. It's not dependant on how he feels, or how I feel- in fact he's even more caring when I'm in distress for any reason.

The best things for me to do to get over any attraction I had to a LVM was: figure out what I was looking for from the one who rejected me, and deciding to give it to myself. I felt rejected because I was always looking for him to validate my worth through a relationship, so I looked for the ways I felt I could improve myself and feel worthy for myself. Also I wanted to connect to someone (we are social creatures after all) so instead of thinking about my lost connection with him I doubled down …

Yes. My current SO is amazing. I was used to abusive relationships with avoidant men, but by the time I met him I knew that about myself, did a bunch of inner work, and looked specifically for a healthier man- although I was unaware of FDS when we met. Even then, being treated well set off so many alarms. Was he lovebombing me?? If he does this nice thing for me, will he hold it against me later?? If he pays for an expensive dinner will he expect sex?? Is he pretending to be nice to me until he …

Thank you, you're very right. There would be times where he would listen to me- but only if I was ultimately asking his advice. If he said something where I had a negative reaction- which was when his misogyny just got to be too much for me sometimes- and I brought that to his attention, he would chide me for taking whatever he said and "making it about myself", and of course in those days I would feel ashamed of myself. Of course, everything I tried to talk about he turned into being about him,…

Oh my gosh. You just helped me completely understand something about my ex "best friend"...who is a guy. We would have debates like what you used for an example- a male/female topic would come up, we would discuss, and it would devolve into that cyclical type of argument over and over until I gave up because I knew he wouldn't get it. It would make me so sad every time, and weirdly uncomfortable, and make me feel like I wasn't communicating well. I discovered FDS, and I immediately got some sens…

LVM use that phrase to deflect from any real issues the woman has. So many women think they "pick fights" or "nag" when in reality they have very legitimate concerns and are rightfully upset because the concerns have been minimized. But, through the constant gaslighting done by their LVM SO, they think they are the ones with the problem.

There was a time where I was extremely stressed and depressed and my bf has called me this much from work to check on me and tell me he loves me. There have been times where I've taken trips with my friends and don't exchange more than a couple texts the entire time. A HVM knows when and how much to get a hold of you, and when not to.

I think I recall reading something a long time ago where a common PUA tactic is to refer to the woman as small. Tiny, dainty, petite, slim, little-girl, etc., because they think it makes you feel "more feminine" and attracted to them because they are staging the conversation around how much bigger and stronger they are compared to you.

Why is everything a competition to most men. Always with the power trips and one-upping. Such projection. Like... She wasn't in the mood for a few days, but then did something wonderful and vulnerable for him. Instead of realizing that, he thinks of it as her having a power trip, so he has to be a huge jerk in order to "gain back control". But women are somehow the ones who play games.

I LOVE cooking. I absolutely love it. It's a way for me to share my love for my family and friends. When I was single, I would make big or elaborate meals and pawn them off on my friends and family all the time. At the same time, this idea that all men are entitled to and deserve anything, even home cooked meals, is so freaking detrimental. I've always been the one who does most, if not all, of the cooking in the relationship. And let me tell you from personal experience, if a man is a LVM he wi…

When I was dating LVM, I was "insecure" too. My "insecurities" would trigger at the worst times- like when they were 'just being harmlessly flirty' or spending a lot of time alone with another woman but 'nothing happened' and I was 'making a big deal' out of it, or whatever B.S. line they used on me to deflect from their own disrespectful actions. Shockingly enough, the very second I started dating a HVM, my "natural" insecurities were basically nonexistent. You've stated he's "naturally flirty"…

tl;dr- I consider my bf HV. He has been consistently respectful, thoughtful, caring, and giving since we met. He has a great job, works out 5 days a week, and is financially stable. Here's what it was like to start dating him: My boyfriend set himself apart the second we met, and he continues to pleasantly surprise me every day. We met on a paid OLD site, I had been using it for about 3 months at the time, and went on a few mediocre to disappointing first dates and nothing else (this was waaaay …

As soon as our area caught wind of what was going down (our area had one of the first confirmed cases), my bf immediately took stock of our supplies and made a list of what we needed, but that also meant knowing when we had "enough" so we didn't stockpile things we wouldn't use. He then reached out to his parents, and his younger brother, who all live about an hour away, to make sure they were safe and had supplies. We went on a couple large (for us) grocery shopping trips as the news got worse,…

I went through this stage as well! After my previous relationship ended, I moved to back to my hometown where most of my family and friends are. As I assimilated back into the social circles, it seemed like everyone was poly. I'm not exaggerating; the peripheral groups of people I know are now all very obviously poly and swingers, and after I found that out, I was venting to one of my best friends (I've known her almost 20 years and she's been married for 8) told me she and her husband had been …

The emphasis on looks. While I agree that taking care of oneself is highly important, I think we get way to down about our looks and then that gets in the way seeing our true value, or it becomes an excuse to not look at our other facets that truly need the work (like sometimes our attitude for example). I feel as though I've been on the chubby side almost my entire life- I don't fit any of the beauty norms, and it's messed with my self esteem the whole time. Even while getting compliments from …
