I matched with a moderately attractive, seemingly put-together, man on OLD. We started talking and in the first few messages he called me petite. Now, I’m the opposite of petite. I’m tall and significantly overweight. I don’t have any body pics on my profile to avoid guys matching to comment on my boobs, but I have a chubby face so it’s obvious that I’m not thin. I thought the petite comment was weird but let it slide, and a few messages later he said I was so slim. I was confused by this and point-blank told him I’m plus-sized. He said something to the effect that I was kidding and insisted that I was tiny. I told him he was being weird and dropped the conversation.

I’m a fairly confident person, so it’s not like I want to live in some fantasy world where I’m not the size I am. The whole thing was just strange.

Was he just an idiot, trying to compliment me, or was this some kind of backwards neg? I’m completely at a loss.
