Yes, things will get better for you. Right now is the best time for you to work on you. You are a bundle of emotions right now. It's hard to do the day to day and living with her, knowing it's over is the worst. Emotional regulation is key at this point. Without it, you can go insane, ruminating on the why, the story, and not taking action. Remember this you are not responsible for her emotions. Focus on you and being strong for yourself and the ones who love you.

One step at a time. One day at a time. Just taking time. This is the hardest, most grueling thing any of us can go through, whether we wanted it or not. This moment in our lives is what is going to define us moving forward. For me, I don't want to lose my identity again, I don't want to lose it when I'm triggered. That's not what I want for my future, and that's not what I want to show my kid. With great sacrifice, we can make great change. This is true for ourselves moving forward. We need to s…

I just want to say thanks so much for all the stories and comments everyone has shared. This has been the toughest thing I've ever gone through. I feel like my character, my intelligence, my strength, and my soul have been crushed (for lack of a better term). I'm sure all of us feel the same one way or another. I see here that all of us dads who are surviving are "Fucking Strong as Hell" and no matter what happens in this messed up world we have what it takes to stand strong for our kids!

That's brutal, man. Good job at staying strong for you and your kid when everything is crumbling. Staying strong is all we've got, and it's been so important showing that to my kid, it's been helping them emenclly.

Yes, I do agree. And yes, I did ask if that was what they wanted. I even asked if they would rather give donate them to Goodwill. I didn't disclose context that would have given more insight into my kid's psyche. That would have made for a long post. My kid did not have a good relationship with their mom to begin with. In the end, after my ex left and we had the divorce discussion. I sat down with my kid, and they told me I was being lied to by my ex. That she was having an affair, and my ex was…

Understood. That is something I am working on. Just got my own account set up and am looking to move my paychecks soon, which will cut her off.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
