In my experience, DMmeClownPics eats babies. Why do you do that? Eating babies is wrong.

Because wonen frequently claim that they can "sense toxicity" from men, even though they clearly cannot. It makes sense that the men they're rejecting are the ones they're referring to

What is a "positive dating quality?" Does it involve cheating on your partner?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:35 AM

some of them even use incel/blackpill/redpill lingo in person or at least let their bitterness shine through If you use said lingo IRL, then yes, people could detect their subculture leanings But the entire premise of the "sense toxicity" argument is that women can sense toxicity regardless of what a man actually says, so that really does nothing to resolve this dispute
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:31 AM

I think the thing that actually hurts someone is significantly worse. I find it fairly disturbing that you disagree

I assume people mean that they can meet a person and sense the resentment in the way he speaks to / about women OK, but they can't do that either. They just see an ugly man and say "Ugh, gross, I bet he's an incel" Do you understand this? The entire "sense toxicity" enterprise relies on its proponents being too dumb to understand its very basic contradictions. Smart people do not believe it.

And lots of different men bitch on Reddit. What's on your point?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:24 AM

As for potential cheaters, they most likely have some positive qualities about them, such as not being a ball of anxiety and misery Why do you feel that men prone to anxiety have no positive qualities?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:23 AM

I didn't say it absolved men who post misogynistic things, I just said it was worse. Can you explain why you think that they're just as bad? I've known a lot of women devastated that their partner cheated, I don't think I've ever met anyone devastated that they saw someone post something mean on Reddit.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:22 AM
2

Because they say the same shit in person What are you basing this on? I've said many things online that I've never said IRL. This is basically the entire point: people don't want to admit that romance less men are ugly, so they invent character flaws "OH, you probably say mean things IRL!" Meanwhile, men who cheat are able to attract at least two women, so they are presumptively Good People who never do anything that could give an indication of toxicity.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:20 AM
1

That is indeed toxic, but I think cheating on your partner is worse. And there are people here who insist that "propensity to cheat" is undetectable while "saying mean things on Reddit" activates a sensor in every woman's head
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:15 AM
1

Those are indeed different statements, but could you please explain how you meet a man IRL and impeccably infer that he has posted " it’s unfair that women aren’t sleeping with me" at some point?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:13 AM
5

Why is it obvious if a guy you meet IRL says "AWALT" on Reddit? I have literally never posted that initialism. It is not part of my loneliness. But I'm genuinely curious as to how you figure out that men you meet IRL are posting it on Reddit
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:10 AM
-1

What viral moment are you referring to?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 02:00 AM
2

OK, but can you explain how women impeccably detect "vents on Reddit" but are completely helpless to detect men with a propensity to cheat? I disagree with your post: I think cheating on your partner is significantly worse than posting on Reddit. But I'm mostly just curious as to how the latter is apparently so easily detected by women while the former is impossible.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/07/26 01:59 AM
1

You think women can detect "toxic" men. If cheating falls under the penumbra of toxicity, it follows that women should be able to detect it. You're only exempting it because basically *every* woman has a cheating ex, so actually including it in the category of "toxicity" would be a death knell for the "women detect toxicity" thesis. So you're doing this fucking pathetic "Aha, well, y'know, most of these guys aren't *serial* cheaters so it's kinda hard to tell...." shuffle.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/06/26 12:24 AM
1

Wait, wait: you don't think cheating is toxic? You think women can detect if a man vents on Reddit (or whatever wishy washy BS phrasing you used), but disregarding the actual foundation of a monogamous relationship is just whatever? Why do you subject yourself to this? You can't possibly actually believe what you're saying.

>Advertising how? Making a public list of men they intuit as abusive. Like, this is just the old joke about "Why do psychics never win the lottery?" There is no such list because there's a fuckton of false positives. They just tell men who vent on Reddit that their "toxicity" is obvious IRL to make them feel bad, while totally dodging the question of how awful men regularly find their way into relationships. >Women may just be better at it on average because they deal with strange men more often…

>Second, my own take on thr matter is that women can sense your toxicity. Men can too. But it's just a basic social skill and tends to be better developed in women. >The catch is that, like all social skills, it isnt perfect. Individual talents for it will vary. Serial abusers often target women they determine, though social skills of their own, are more likely to fall for their act. Additionally, putting on the act is also a social skill for which individual talent varies. Wow, why aren't women…

>The thing people need to remember is that starting a relationship and staying in a relationship are totally different things You don't get to say that when the "Women can sense your toxicity!" canard is still ubiquitous. Abusive men would never make it past a first date if women actually had that capacity, but lonely men are still forced to hear this BS day in and day out.

>You're judging him by only the worst things you know about it, and only in hindsight of his already having been dumped. >Women don't constantly claim that they can tell toxic men from non-toxic men upon meeting them Yes, they fucking do. It's why "personality detector" is a meme. OK, so you see posting on Reddit as analogous to holding a knife covered in blood. Could you just explain why men who beat the shit out of women aren't so easily detectable? You have a lot of vivid imagery but basically no actual argument, would give you like a C- if I was grading you
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/26 02:35 AM

You're implying that my "bitching and moaning" are why I have trouble attracting women, even though abusive men attract women with no problem. Ergo, you're saying that abusive behavior is better than "batching and moaning" I could help you with fingerpainting too, if you want. You seem to have difficulty with very basic concepts.

I don't feel entitled to anything. And I was disenchanted with dating long before I met the girl who dated the biter. Could you just explain *why* you feel that biting people and making homicidal threats is better than venting on Reddit? I genuinely don't understand it. I would much rather date a woman who vented on Reddit than one who bit people and made homicidal threats. It's so bizarre to me that things are flipped when the sexes are changed

Please don't play dumb. Women very frequently say "We can TELL if you're toxic, even if you don't say these things IRL!" You know what I'm talking about, I know that you know what I'm talking about. Pretending otherwise just makes everyone groan

Can you explain why women can impeccably detect "Ugly man who vents on Reddit" but are hopelessly blind to "Attractive man who goes around biting people" I'm sure you have a very good answer
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/26 02:00 AM

I'm very funny but whenever that is brought up people are like "Uh, well, you're probably not!" I'm pretty tall too. He'll, even relatively famous. none of it matters because I'm fucking ugly
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/26 01:58 AM

OK, so you concede that women have no ability to determine which men will or will not be abusive? Why tell me to go away if you agree with me???

I don't have any abusive men in my personal circle. but even if I did, i don't claim that I can impeccably discern someone's toxicity, as women frequently do. This is a laughably bad strawman
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/26 01:55 AM
3

"uh, well, HEALTHY women wouldn't do the behavior you described!" isn't a rebuttal. It's just the exact thing I describe in the OP. Trying to split hairs so that your literally incorrect hypothesis may still be seen as kinda sorta valid
/r/PurplePillDebate21/06/26 01:53 AM
1

If women can sense men's toxicity, as is often claimed, isn't that necessarily true? To be clear I think the "toxicity detection" thing is complete BS, so *I* don't think women intentionally choose abusive partners. I'm just asking people to be consistent in their logic.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/06/26 04:05 PM

Do you deny that women frequently claim that they can sense men's toxicity?

Women frequently claim that they can detect bad personalities, and such is what keeps lovely men lonely. I don't make the rules here. I just wish women would explain why they think abusive men have such great personalities.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/05/26 02:54 AM

>Not a backpedal, just an elaboration You said that women can sense toxicity and are now saying they usually cannot. It's frequently claimed that women can "sense" perpetually single men to be misogynistic or toxic or whatever, even if they don't espouse anything misogynistic or toxic IRL. It's an utterly inane argument on par with "You have to eat your vegetables because Santa is watching!", not least of all because *overtly* toxic or misogynistic men regularly find partners. I think that's what OP is getting at.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/04/26 06:42 PM

I was being somewhat facetious but those sound like the traits of someone who's a bit overwhelmed and not resting enough, not sure how you make the leap to "toxic dating attitudes"

/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/26 12:27 AM
1

>someone who’s a bitter type will either make it obvious when they walk into the door, or when they start speaking how?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/03/26 12:25 AM

Did I misunderstand your analogy? "Master mechanic" implies strong proficiency when I'm really just looking to be competent.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/25 01:09 AM

I can do that, but it's generally discouraged to make sexual innuendos in front of women you just met. Are you saying I should start doing that?
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/25 12:40 AM

OK, so tell me what body language, tone, and wording I should use.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/25 12:36 AM

Seems like a bad analogy. Very few people are master mechanics but most people can allegedly flirt well.
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/25 12:36 AM

I would be open to that, but no one is offering how to achieve that.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 09:32 PM

I respond to things that they say with hyperbole, absurdity, and/or references to previous conversations (inside jokes).
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 09:13 PM

*I* don't expect a single strategy to work on every woman. The people who insist that I just need to flirt better do.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 09:09 PM

OK, what are these subtle signs and how do I respond appropriately?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 09:07 PM

OK, well take that up with Mark Manson and everyone who recommends his book
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 08:26 PM

A lot of things have exceptions and caveats. Flirting appears to be the only case where people refuse to elaborate on specifics and just insist that I trust them.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 08:14 PM

I'll look up Austin Summers. And I'm pretty sure no one is saying "Buy this paintbrush and your paintings will sell well." Manson's book, however, *did* claim that it would help attract women.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 08:12 PM

To be clear, 2/200 is specifically from the "Thought you were cute..." approach. I've gotten numbers just hanging out and talking to someone. I have dates once in a while. A couple women have come home with me, though one of those was weird and "intimate" but not really sexual. A couple other women have made out with me. Like it's still pretty bad, but maybe not *as* bad as you were picturing.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:56 PM

I asked ChatGPT "How do I throw a basketball?" and got far more actionable advice than I ever have about flirting. I'm fine if other people are naturally better at flirting. All I'm asking for is actual actionable advice on how I *should* be doing it.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:40 PM

I see that you're making an analogy to music, but there's no actual actionable advice here.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:36 PM

Foreign languages are frequently taught, though. This isn't earning any points for the "Oh, there's totally a methodology to flirting, it's just hard to explain" thesis.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:35 PM

Then I guess I'm very ugly
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:29 PM

If we're counting phone numbers as success, it was probably around 1%. But I don't really count phone numbers as success. Women have given me their number unprompted and then ghosted.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:27 PM

I never approach in supermarkets, it's usually in bars. My last post here was literally about how I've never had issues making people laugh but it does nothing for me in dating, so I think "witty" applies. How much I have in common with someone varies greatly from case to case.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:21 PM

No one has corrected me. That's the whole point. They don't say "Here's how you *should* flirt", they just say I'm probably doing it wrong but decline to say what I should be doing differently.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:18 PM

I am indeed autistic. If flirting has no real rules, I would prefer that people just stop telling me that I should learn how to flirt better.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/25 07:04 PM

Multiple responses here have said that being funny, in isolation, is sufficient to attract women. And I don't think it's my only virtue, which is why I mentioned women who have been attracted to me in other contexts.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/25 01:33 PM

Lots of women find me funny, and none of those women have been attracted to me. pretty sure that's what I said in the OP
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/25 04:08 AM

You don't understand why someone would expect benefits if something were actually beneficial? Do I need to use smaller words?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/11/25 12:10 AM

Nailed it
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:16 PM

The rubber has to meet the road somewhere. "This quality is attractive but won't actually attract anyone to you" is functionally the same as "This quality is not attractive"
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:15 PM

Well, clearly, I *don't* believe everything I read on the internet.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:13 PM

No, it's more like a handful of women have found me attractive, so I'm at least not monstrously ugly. If being funny was beneficial, being tolerably attractive + funny should have resulted in more success.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:13 PM

yes, I realize that humor is subjective. I'm saying that many women who found me subjectively funny were still not attracted to me.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:11 PM

Most comedians I've known have average dating lives. The most romantically successful are the really attractive ones, not the really funny ones.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:10 PM

the women who found me attractive didn't find me *un*funny, it's more that humor just didn't really enter into it.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/25 04:09 PM

I was socially funny before I was "stage funny." I started going on stage because people found me funny socially. Neither is even remotely beneficial in dating.

it's not my full time job, but that's what I meant by "I make money from it." I'm guessing you're about to move the goalposts and say being funny doesn't count now?

I'm aware that such lines rarely work, which is why I remain baffled at that book's popularity.

I smile, refrain from slouching, and have never stuttered. I'm usually not stiff unless someone actually comes home with me.

That doesn't make much sense. I'm referring to social skills being useless in one particular domain: dating. If anything, *I'm* the one saying "Don't use pliers to hammer screws." And, again, a bunch of people here are saying that being funny and witty is beneficial *in dating*. Even though they're not. *They* are the ones giving bad tool advice.

OK, so what are skills would make one sufficiently socially skilled

I think it matters how you treat women. I think you should treat women well. I just disagree with people who think that violent, antisocial behavior is an example of good social skills.

Lol, yes, nearly all of my approaches have been while inebriated. I'm seriously just ugly but that's getting away from OP

I haven't said anything about "deserve." I'm saying that he *wouldn't* be having sex at all if social skills were relevant. That has nothing to do with what he deserves.

OK, well could you explain the specific social skills one could employ that would adequately compensate for nonconsensual biting and homicidal threats?

I don't know if she would have kept dating him had he been less of a psycho. "Good social skills improve total dating success" brings us back to the question of what counts as "social skills". Several people in here have said that being witty and funny are good social skills. Nearly everyone I know would attest to me having those qualities, but they do nothing for me in dating, so I go back to finding the whole concept vague to the point if uselessness.

I don't think any claims in my OP appear in any foundational RP texts.

What social skills adequately compensate for nonconsensual biting?

But she continued sleeping with him while he was doing all this. Surely, if social skills are so important, she wouldn't have slept with him even once.

I'm not red pill. Maybe I'm out of touch with the parlance, but I don't subscribe to AWALT or think that men should treat women poorly

I don't see women as a monolith, but the people who say that "Social skills are important to women" clearly do. So I'm responding on their terms

If that's the case, I'd prefer that people say "Social confidence is important in dating", since broader social skills obviously aren't important. I don't think I agree with the social confidence thing, though. I read Mark Manson's *Models* and he said that you should approach women by saying *I thought you were cute and wanted to meet you* to display confidence. I've done that probably 100 times and got, I think, 2 phone numbers (neither of which led to a date)

She had a stable white collar 9-5. Certainly a bit eccentric but not living on the fringe of society or anything.

Do you think that the biting guy read social situations correctly? Second response to say that being funny and witty are good social skills. If nothing else, saving this for next time someone tells me that that I'm funny but such isn't a "social skill."

Are being witty and funny universally considered good social skills? Because I've invoked those as good social skills that *I* possess, and have been told that they're *not* social skills. And what social skills do you personally feel would adequately compensate for nonconsensual biting?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
