Before FDS I was dating a man 13 years my senior, with a child that was old enough to be my brother. Ultimately I ended the relationship because I just couldn’t see myself being someone’s step mom, especially in my early 20’s. After joining FDS, I quickly recognized many red flags I had overlooked. It is exciting at first to date someone older, but the novelty wears off quick! The reality of dating a man who is in a totally different place in life is not all sunshine and rainbows.

I sadly can relate to this. I had sex with a LVM who wouldn’t look me in the eyes, forced me into the legs over shoulders position, and jackhammered. Luckily this was post-FDS so I pushed him off me and told him to leave. But the experience was so unsettling. I felt “off” for awhile after.

Thank you for the tough love. I completely agree with you. I keep coming back to the fact that there was no mention of even trying a LDR. He made several comments like “Keep in touch, if you’re ever out my way let me know,” etc which frankly was off-putting to me. I’m not interested in a pen pal or long distance FWB. Honestly after I found out he was moving I should have declined to see him again, but like I said the connection was just so intense that I couldn’t fathom not continuing it. If I’m…

That’s great advice, thank you! I definitely struggle with the scarcity mindset when dating. I also can become discouraged pretty quickly after a few LV dates. I think it’s the area that still needs the most work from me. I’m trying to be grateful for the experience and not harp on what could’ve been.

I know I was so disappointed reading through the comments. A lot of women were also claiming “both can be true”. When will they drop the facade?

Wow that story is so sad. Arresting that poor woman who is trying to better her situation for her kids. The arrest on her record won’t help her employment prospects either.

This is why I take offense when men call me a “strong independent woman”. I’ve had multiple men say this to me on dates. It comes across as condescending. Why not just say “Oh wow, you’ve achieved a lot! That’s impressive.” Calling women ~strong independent women~ is another way of patronizing us and an attempt to put us down, in my opinion.

I hate him too. When I read that he’s overweight and watches porn while she does the cooking and cleaning, I was overcome with anger and disgust.

If it helps, none of my exes watched porn, and I wouldn’t even consider them HVM. So men who don’t watch porn definitely exist. Unfortunately they can still be LV even without this flaw. It’s tough out here, but stay the course, sis!

This honestly comes across as satire. It’s so unbelievable. I had to stop reading halfway through for my own sanity.

Leveling up comes from within. I was on my way to following FDS principles even before I found this sub, because I took to time to evaluate each failed relationship and grow from it. From your list I can tell you’re trying to learn and grow from it. This is a great first step. I think we are all continuously leveling up. I try to better myself each day. I may have a setback or two along the way, but I get myself back on track. I don’t think you’re ever fully “leveled up” because this would imply…

I’ve been struggling with this since finding FDS 6 months ago and actively working on leveling up. I have a close friend that is on FDS and we frequently talk about it. It really helps to have someone IRL who gets it. I’ve had some success talking about FDS principles with other friends, even if they don’t know it’s FDS I’m talking about. However, my best friend of many years is a pickme. I’ve been trying to give her good advice and help her level up, but she is very unreceptive. She was actuall…

A little over a year ago I was dating a guy who had no less than 3 “family emergencies” a month. He used that excuse so often that the one time it turned out to be true, I didn’t believe him. He sent me a picture of the wreck his family member had been in, and I reverse image searched it on google🤡

I’ve been waiting to share this story. TMI warning. My ex was not necessarily HV, but this will always stick out in my mind. I had put in my menstrual cup in the morning, then went to get my nails done for a wedding the next day. That night, when it was time to empty and clean the cup, I realized there was no way I could get it out without ruining my manicure. My ex reached up, pulled the cup out, washed it, and put it back in according to my instructions. Like I said he was not necessarily a HV…

I’ve only given head a handful of times in my life, and I always hated it. I didn’t do it at all in my last relationship. Conversely, my ex gave me head every time we had sex. I do not feel guilty at all about this. As others have said, there is an orgasm disparity between men and women. Men come from PIV every time, while very few women can come from PIV alone. We let men have so many things in this life, why let them have more orgasms as well?

I don’t have a good answer, but I have experienced this as well. I had a man ask me out on a date the day before. I told him I would love to, but already had plans. Instead of arranging for another day, he just said “let me know if you’re free after your plans.” insert eye roll I think it just comes down to laziness and lack of interest. On to the next!

Men who are described as aggressive (in a negative context) are being rude, over the top, jack asses. Women who are described as aggressive are just acting how men normally act, without issue.

I was literally thinking of posting something along these lines earlier today. I just got home from visiting my best friend who lives in a different state. I knew she was a pickme, but I hadn’t realized how bad it was. Now I’m viewing everything she does through FDS lenses and it’s just soooo cringey. I really want to help her, but I think she needs to come to the light on her own. I’ve said a few things to her and she’s not been very receptive. It’s just so frustrating when you feel like you’re…

In your post you ask how to approach him, or if you should just ignore it. You don’t say anything about being willing to walk away. This line of thinking comes from the scarcity mindset. I struggled with this as a pickme, and still have to catch myself sometimes now. The right guy will not keep his dating app after he meets you. He will do everything in his power to impress you and let you know you are his #1 priority. Don’t let a LVM catch you slipping. You can do so much better, Queen.

Girl 😑 I say this lovingly, read the handbook. This is kinda beside the point, but FDS isn’t against the girlfriend label. We are against becoming a forever girlfriend. Very different.

If I meet a local guy, I give him max 3 days of texting/ talking on the phone. If he hasn’t made plans for a date by then, I stop responding. Long distance guys are a little trickier. I give them ~2 weeks of texting/ talking on the phone. That doesn’t mean I have to see him in 2 weeks, but he has to at least make a plan in that time. Realistically, if you meet a guy and he is into you, he should be trying to make plans ASAP.

I agree, if you don’t want to have kids. However, if a woman is planning to have children (with a man, not talking about IVF or adoption as a single person), she is better protected by marriage. If kids aren’t the goal then marriage isn’t a must.

One question I have is how do we follow the FDS principle of continuing to date other people while vetting, if we aren’t on the apps? I have deleted my dating apps (yet again) because I was emotionally fatigued. I am currently dating/vetting two men. However, without the apps, I feel like it’s very hard to continue meeting new men. I almost wonder if this rule even still applies if you are not on the apps? Would love to get some feedback and opinions on this.

Several of my fwb’s in college would continuously give me BV and UTI’s. Funny how that never happens to me in relationships.🤔 My friends and I called them “dirty dick dudes” lol.

I actually had a scrote gate keep his friend group from me very recently. I met them all out at a bar and had a blast hanging with everyone. He asked for my number and I gave it to him, hoping to stay in touch with the group. Awhile later, after I had to make it crystal clear to him I was only interested in being his friend, he told me to go fuck myself.😊 Gotta love the male ego!

It sounds like you have accomplished a lot. I have too. What helps me is congratulating myself for accomplishing everything I have done on my own. For example, I recently bought a house. I am in my early 20’s. I bought it all on my own, no help from my parents, and definitely no help from a man. How many women my age can say that? I don’t like putting other women down, so I’m not framing it in a “nana nana boo boo, I’m better than you” way. I’m just genuinely proud of myself for accomplishing th…

You are exactly right. I am so guilty of falling for men based on their potential instead of actions. I’ve found myself asking “he literally has everything I want, why can’t he just act right??” But his actions actually show that he doesn’t have everything I want, not even close.

The sad thing is this man was also very cheap. He suggested getting a drink for our first date. I got him to take me to dinner, but it was at a dive bar.🤡 For our second date, he suggested a walk. I reminded him that I expected more from a date, but then realized he wasn’t worth my time or energy and blocked.

I know who you’re talking about but I kinda disagree. I know it’s probably for views, but she’s made videos showing her sitting at home all night waiting on his text anxiously, then all happy and relieved once he texts/calls. I’m not into that depiction lol.

So true! The power of being the one who left him on read is so sweet, too. In my pickme days I would usually reply if they reached back out, and half the time they would leave me on read. Never again!

Love this advice! Just this weekend a recently-outed LVM cancelled a date with me. I knew I should block, but it’s like I literally can’t make myself for this very reason.😬 My solution is usually to put them on DND. Not knowing if they have tried to contact me or not causes me so much anxiety!

Thanks for the input! You definitely raise some great points. I will say, unfortunately in my experience, 19 is actually young for your first orgasm. I had mine at 21, and I have friends now who still haven’t had one at 24/25. I also live in the south so those Christian and southern hang ups are very real for women here sadly. So for what it’s worth, dating around may not actually win on that one lol.

I love this perspective! I’m glad you looked out for your own best interest, and your man proved himself to be HV by continuing to pursue the relationship. My experience has largely been the opposite— my female friends made almost every decision based on their boyfriend, and sacrificed their own goals to remain in the relationship. It’s so refreshing to read about the opposite happening. Congrats on your relationship and best wishes for the future!

My “friend” set me up on a first date with a guy I had a huge crush on. They had previously hooked up but she swore they were just friends now. We did wine and a movie at her apartment—the three of us.🥴 He later cheated on me with her. LMAO Also I’m cracking up at the “accompany me on my errands”🥴🤣

The fact that he fucked up and you are the one feeling bad about it is a glimpse of that potential dynamic. God that is so true. I had an ex that I dated a few years back. We were talking seriously about marriage. He had the gift of turning every situation around on me. Somehow I always ended up apologizing, in tears, after he fucked up. I finally saw that for what it was—emotional and verbal abuse— and noped the fuck outta there. I have no desire to repeat that pattern.

I totally get where you’re coming from. Personally I don’t think he’s charismatic or charming. He’s friendly, but I could tell he was nervous at first (like he doesn’t date often). I felt a connection because I related to and agreed with so much of what he said. I had him talk more about himself than I talked about myself, so I know he wasn’t just repeating what I said. I think it’s rare to find someone you have that much in common with. I personally think my declining his offer made him feel re…

Yeah this is how I feel as well. It honestly was shocking to me that he asked. Part of me wants to give him the benefit of the doubt, but the other part is seriously questioning his character and motives. I’m going with the latter unless proven otherwise. Just sucks when you thought a date went so well!

I totally agree with him asking to come over being inappropriate. I was pretty disappointed when I received the text, given how well the first date went. I’m naively hoping it’s the second scenario you mentioned, but then again I’m now questioning his true character. Ugh!
