I am just curious. Discussing immediately as in first date or if you use dating app, after matching on dating app? How did you bring it up?

Thank you for pointing that out. I see now where my expectation might be unrealistic.

Some medical schools have affiliated universities. For medical schools like mine that are built to provide care for very rural areas of America, we only have the medical school without any affiliated colleges. For example, we don’t have an official campus either. Our school is located in an old office building.

The closest city or college town is around 3-4 hours away unfortunately, and my family is living across the country. I have given long distance a chance around 5 months ago but it did not work out either. There is no guarantee that my residency will be in an urban area but I think it is doable! I will be applying to one of the less competitive specialties with many residencies spots across the countries.

Thank you for your insights! Those were my concerns as well. I did not want to put too much pressure/scaring the guy away by being too forward with my deadline.

I have the same dilemma as a second year medical student ! From what I gathered from my friends who are in radiology residency, radiology is one of the more family friendly speciality. During residency, you work 9-5 but you do need to study outside of residency since radiology has lots of learning. Once you are an attending, you have the option to work from home as telerad and the pay is great in radiology so you can work from home, scale down your hours to part time and still potentially earn a…

We have similar timeline then! Would/Did you walk away after the timeline is up even there is no other problem in a relationship?

Hi! We are around the same age and similar dating experience. I have had the same thoughts before/and still do and have been in LDR. I have done “taking a break” multiple times in my relationship, and that damaged my relationship greatly. I know it is very hard to do with the voices/doubts inside our head and with the distances. I personally don’t think taking a break would help to figure out if this relationship is right because you would be no longer in it. I would wait it out until he gets an…

Could you please go into more details about holding a high value mindset about yourself and the relationship? Thank you and congratulations!

I think that would be once every month or two a week. He was considering moving to closer to me but given the nature of his job, it will be very difficult (but not impossible) to do so, and especially since we only know each other for two months.

Yes I am working on changing that mindset!

He was amazing so it was hard to say no to LDR but I think I will tell him no to LDR and explore other options then!

The whole two months were in-person, and you are absolutely correct! It is a very new situation for me, and I do want to get married soon so I appreciate the insights!

I agree about the long distance relationship. That is why I am hesitated! Unfortunately, the area I am in is very rural. All the good ones are married or have moved to another place. Due to school, I would have to stay here for another two years.

Yes we have met IRL when he visits his family. His brother lives in my city but unfortunately he won’t be able to move because of his work. Yes, there is a cultural nuance. In his culture, they get married very quickly, and he is a little older. He is in his early 30s and I am in my mid 20s. He has paid for everything since we first met and offered to get me an apartment. He brought up marriage early on, and would like to get family involved. He would like to get married after his sister’s weddi…
