So many examples over the years it’s unreal. I now try to look at her like she’s a child and respond accordingly. I’m not always successful. She’s knows my buttons that she can push and I still internalize some texts especially if they are ridiculous. I was about to start typing out tons of examples, but there’s honestly just too many to name. Every few days there’s another passive aggressive comment about something. I think making mountains out of molehills is what gives her purpose.

What if your anxiety comes from fear that the only reason this woman is laying down with you is to get something from you! A couple years where I was paranoid that I was being trapped or that there were alternative reasons they wanted to have sex. Pretty F’d up. Also can’t wear condoms as that’s an instant boner loss as soon as I put it on haha. So what to do. Many embarrassing moments in dating around this area. Rock hard through foreplay but as soon as it’s time for sex the anxiety kicks in th…

I never understood how truly effed up I was after the divorce four years ago. Five years if you include separation. I also never realized how long it would take to move on emotionally as a man. A 10 year marriage is wired into your brain and then all of a sudden it is no longer exists. That’s a hard thing for your body and for your mind to comprehend. I would argue as a man it’s especially hard. You can move on physically most of the time, but the emotional side is what I underestimated. I still…

Man this is all a sobering read. I’m also the single guy in the friend group, and everyone else is still married and most seem pretty happy all in all. Some friends are doing exceptionally well and others are pretty average income. When I hang around them, I see the real life, ugliness of fights and things like that but the women don’t leave. It makes you scratch your head and second guess what went wrong and what you could’ve done better. I’m four years out from my divorce and I think I still s…

I’ve discovered my anxiety around sex has increased dramatically since being divorced. I miss not having any issues in that area with my ex. That was so freeing but I didn’t realize it back then. I think the divorce manifested this way for me. I’ve been with some great women but my fear of many things keeps me from being present and I drove them away. I always assume they all want to ruin me or I’m being set up by some crazy lady or they just want a kid. I recognize this isn’t logical but for so…

Bro. 4 years from divorce and still deal with some of this. The first year I would have almost a panic attack when getting intimate with another woman. I couldn’t figure out what was going on because in my mind, I wanted to be present, but my body would just shut down. I felt embarrassed that as a guy, I couldn’t just turn off the emotional side. A couple of years later I’ve embraced that For me, I can’t have sex with just anyone. I need to trust that person. So I am very selective with who I sp…

I can totally see where most of these comments come from but I also know there are dozens of healthy relationships of friends of mine I’ve known for 20 years and their wives have never done anything like that. So what gives. And I hear the stories of their marriages so it’s not all rainbows and sunshine, but the women don’t leave.. I know this isn’t the popular narrative but trying to make sense of it. I’ve been the only single dude in the group for years that it didn’t work out for. Many of the…

Mine left me for her boss and lives in his mansion to this day although he doesn’t live there really. Odd sponsor situation. Can’t explain it. That was a gut punch to say the least. I’ve had to wrestle with all the emotions of being hurt about everything but I had to shift my perspective that number 1. Thank God my children have a nice place to live when they’re not with me. This simp wants to spend all his resources on my ex but she won’t marry him ha. Obviously using him but not my problem. Nu…

That makes me wonder, was it ever real? Was it all calculated? Why would women fake feelings for someone for years if that is the case? I don’t get the 180. Guys don’t do that. What is the driving force behind these abrupt changes. Is it just the opportunity for more money via monkey branching? That’s what my ex did but it always seemed odd to me. She would rather have more “money” from her new man than the adventures we had with our kids as a family unit. Well probably never understand the mind…

Interesting. I didn’t have to do that. We just had it spelled out in the MSA that all tax years flip flop the tax credit which is kind of a pain in remembering to make sure we both don’t claim the same one.

Why can’t you claim one child each? That’s what we do. I’m in Cali and have mine 50% and still pay child support. It blows my mind.

5 years after divorce and the closest thing to an apology I ever got was a 2 sentence text saying was sorry for what she did to our family. She was probably drinking at the time. A moment of weakness haha. Didn’t change anything. The passive aggressive remarks kept coming about one thing or the other. She got what she wanted and moved in with her boss. Classic. Lives for free and drives his cars meanwhile sweating me for half expenses anytime she has to spend a dime on our kids. And when I told …

Get ready to be frustrated at the system. I’m California it’s even worse. I have 50/50 and only made 10k more than she did 4 years ago and I pay $400 a month. Think about that. This is money that doesn’t have to be proven what the woman is doing with it or if it’s even going to the kids. And I still share all the extra curriculars, i have the kids medical covered and after school care expenses and tuition. Only 4 more years till my oldest child support stops!!!

Good thought patterns for your age bro. Pretty mature I’d say. I’m a decade older than you and still don’t have the answers that are plaguing you. I guess that’s been true for all of time when it comes to women. I say go with your gut and do what feels right. I am not good at living in chaos. I’ve had stretches of having many women since my divorce a couple years ago and it always feels empty cause they are typically based in lust. Sometimes I do good at focusing on myself and spending time with…

Yeah for sure. I think it’s part co dependency and video games is just the easiest thing to attack because you aren’t paying attention to them. Obviously there is a balance. If playing games was all someone did then there would be a point to that stance but doing something you enjoy is ok for both people! Looking back, we didn’t have our own lives separately. If i was doing something solo there was a passive aggressive vibe to it all and resentment from her. Everything became a tit for tat game.…

Man I completely understand the loneliness and the hopelessness of it all. It’s such a kick to a mans identity and ego! I’m sorry you are down but glad you understand that ending things is not the way to go. I believe that would put a curse upon our children and we are called to be men and men get kicked down but we have to get up. It’s not easy. Just one day at a tome brother. Pick your battles and let God sort out the rest. All you can control is your actions. I say none of this like it’s easy…

I come here with an interest to learn more about this mentality but some of the thinking here just doesn’t make sense to me. If every single female on earth is a whore who will just eventually leave, then why do I know dozens of Married couples who seem authentically Happy and have been together for decades? Hell my grandparents and all their friends have been together for nearly 60 years I don’t doubt that some women monkey branch or whatever other term to show that they are just in it for what…

I’ve been driving a 99 4 runner since college and has 300k miles on it now. I’ve driven across the country multiple times. I love the idea of having an older car. I’m not trying to impress anybody especially women and I honestly don’t understand why someone would spend so much money on a vehicle. The money saved over the last 15 years is crazy. For the first time in my dating life, a girl told me she didn’t want to go out again because of my car. Ha ha. This is the exact reason why I drive an ol…

Great job man. Way to keep your focus on your goals. Not easy to do in your young 20s. I’m assuming you’re working on your bachelors? *something to think about. If an opportunity comes up to hang out with a dime piece don’t turn it down because you’re so focused. Got to have balance. Take moments to smell the roses. The roses in this case are the insanely tight bodies of a woman in her prime. This goes away (for most) in the thirties as well as your ability to easily get with this kind of woman.…

I’m sorry to hear. I know how you feel. My ex lives in her bosses mansion with my kids. I know exactly the pain, anguish and frustration you have! But...I had to choose the hill I was willing to die on. Can I change the situation? No I can’t and I have no control over that. Are the kids safe? Yes they are. Man sorry to hear. I’ve been there. I honestly can’t comprehend when either parent wants primary custody over the kids. It’s basically saying you don’t want the other parent to have time with the child which is fucked up. I’m not hating on you but I think when people don’t just do what’s best for the kids it gets really muddy. Call me old school but I think what’s best for the kids is to have equal time with each parent. Obviously if there’s abuse and other stuff well then that changes that but …

Thanks for the reply. I did get that book. Reading it now. What have you seen is the most reason why each relationship comes to an end? I mean your “sell by date”. I’ve gone out with mid thirties and there is just drama because everything is so serious real quick. And getting in the twenties has not been as easy as it sounds and I’m good looking as I’m told haha.

I just stumbled on to some old text messages saved on my computer from over two years ago and several months before I found out she was in an additional relationship. Her gaslighting after I found out made me think I was nuts and that I was an unsupportive asshole about her career and that I was emotionally abusive. Scrolling through these messages made me laugh. Not to say I was perfect because I wasn’t but it was obvious I was trying to make more time for us. Telling her that I look forward to…

I actually think it’s important to be apart of their gift to their mom. It sends the message that you love her as the mother of the children but it send the subconscious message of how you treat their mom even if she did you wrong will play into their relationships as they become adults.. The kids don’t need to know about the drama but just that it’s a stable environment now but they’ll always remember that dad always was kind and respectful towards mom.

I have found that post divorce dating has made me overthink a lot about my emotions. I still think I should be pursuing someone and getting all the feels pretty soon etc..bit my actual interest for the last year has been very meh and casual. Similar story. Married 11 years. Been divorced almost a year now. The pain was so real and deep I can’t believe I’m on the other side of it. It hurts because the picture in your head of that person you knew for so long is not the person now. That’s hard to accept when nostalgia creeps in. I agree but trying to figure out a work around when you have a couple kids is tough. Needs to be a nicer place with no roommates etc.. and I’m in California where the cost is outrageous. Easily my biggest expense on top of child support, tuition etc.. still saving 40% of my pay but that means I keep myself broke every month. How would you define what that is that was destroyed? Is it the ability to trust? Or something else? Just a bit of hindsight advice. If I could go back 3 years, I would have focused more on my marriage and worked on myself and started therapy early to see if the marriage could be salvaged. The toll it takes on you emotionally, physically, what it does to the kids is not something that is desired. It really sucks. It shouldn’t be something celebrated. Just my .02 cents on the matter. If it can be salvaged I encourage you to do everything you can on the matter. This doesn’t take away that it take…

Ha where does this official advice come from? I hear this all the time and still don’t get it. I divorced 6 months ago in California. A crazy no fault state. She could have ran a brothel out of the house with her as the only worker and I would have still owed her 50% and split custody. It’s a purely mathematical equation. I’m confused on all the advice of recording people and staying in the house. What does it matter? The outcome is the same. Of course, I’m talking about normalish behavior not s…

Great post and can relate. First Halloween without my girls and it really sucked. I’m living away right now so we don’t have the normal arrangement but will be moving in the same city in the spring and then we will go to a (50/50 split) . Can’t wait for that. In the meantime, I fly across the country every month to see the kids. It’s made all the difference in my sanity and can’t wait until the next trip especially getting closer to the holidays. Man it’s a process. A gut wrenching process. Your situation sounded eerily familiar. Everything in your heart doesn’t want to believe what your logic and your eyes are telling you. You think, where did this person I knew since they were 17 go and who is this new person. It’s a mind F my man. Don’t be hard on yourself. Just feel what you feel and be in control. Hold hold up. Is this paradise you’re describing? Ha. How old are these girls? In my short time of being a free man, the vibe I see out there is this movement of girls not wanting to hook up unless the guy wants to get hitched. Not literally but you get the vibe. Almost like all these girls who have been burned before and have swore off men. So these chicks must be 23 before they’ve had time to get jaded. Ha. Man that’s tough and there’s no easy answer especially in that left state that destroys men by the hundreds in these alimony and child support payments. Is she not able to make a decent living? The downside of staying in the same place is the confusion that would cause the kids in the long term IMO.
