I was aware that Ms Clinton was the anomaly. My question was to investigate exactly how much of an anomaly she was. If another failed candidate had written a book, it would be an interesting data point to compare to her.
/r/MensRights18/09/17 06:39 AM

I'm curious how many failed presidential candidates immediately wrote books about the failure, and how many of them used the book to shift blame off of themselves.

Pretty normal for a school setting. Grad student shrinks gotta get the reps in, but they need the supervision of real shrinks so that the patients get treated ethically.

I 100% agree with that, but also, I feel like a really great dad woulda called his kid on that wheelie-bag BS.

To be fair, both terms don't work.

Not arguing that the original was valid... just that whoever created the source for this failed at understanding even the oversimplified argument they were copying.
/r/MensRights07/10/16 04:56 PM

Whoever made this was trying to copy the illustration that's been used for ever to show the difference between equality and equity. Except they completely don't understand how English works, and didn't bother to do a simple Google search.

The problem with that is that the burden is often not split 50/50, even in cases where legally it should be. My bro is on the hook for 100% of his child, even though it's 50/50 according to the court. What that works out to is that he can't go on vacation because his ex demands the kid during school holidays, and she pays no child support.

Why bother debating them? Just isolate them out of your life.

I don't know how all you guys see this stuff on Facebook? You actually have friends that would share this? And how haven't you blocked them and cut them out of your life?

I think that's the thing that bothers me. I think that the movie isn't sexist. I think that it was an attempt to pander to an audience, which Hollywood has every right to do. I probably wouldn't have gone to see it in the theaters because it looked bad, but I would have probably paid to see it somehow. But when they tried to attack people for not liking it as being anti-women, that's where they lost my money. This movie will go down as a case study for how not to alienate an audience.

Wait. WTF did I miss? I thought the point of the barbershop segment was to give some time to the male perspective, as in, what the urban barbershop had become to the African-American community...

As much as I have lived through domestic emotional abuse, and I agree with the top part completely, I've also lived the second part on the other side... Apparently "controlling" is "expecting your partner not to smoke cigarettes." Sometimes the difference between "controlling" and "establishing minimum standards" is whether or not someone cares enough to try to keep someone in their lives. I just solve the problem now by booting people that fuck up. That way I'm not being controlling.

I think this is a thing. In hindsight, my brother and I made similar bad choices in women, and I think that has to do with the relationship we saw in our parents growing up.

The only reason she feels trapped is because she isn't worth your time. If you were in her place, you would think, Well fuck, this sucks, but Imma suck it up and do my duty. She didnt.

Who gives a shit? Duty is duty. Getting your cock blown off by an IED isn't anyone's idea of a good time, but for some people, that was their duty. And I'm not making light of that sacrifice. I don't think I ever could after listening to the Jocko Podcast where he talks about that... My point is that shirking your duty is a shitty fucking thing to do, and the more serious the duty, the more shitty the shirking of it is. And I don't know about you, but I took my marriage vows more seriously than …
/r/MensRights12/02/16 04:02 PM

If that were the case, no one would get married. Relationships are not about material things. Marriages, those are contracts and all about material things.

If someone is a bad person who doesn't understand loyalty and duty, do you really want them teaching your child ethics? I have a close family member who's a single dad, and his daugher would be far better off with no mother.

Don't be an apologist for someone who is clearly in the wrong. Maybe someone has a baby to feed. That doesn't make it ok to kill a bank guard and two tellers while robbing a bank.

That's the problem - first it scares you. then you get angry and bitter. After a while, you learn to use it to your advantage.

You're probably right. But get hard evidence before telling the lawyer, and never tell your wife you know until you go to court.

No one's doubting it, man. If it hasn't happened to us personally, we've seen it happen to a guy we know. It's even a Chris Rock bit. And we all know the law is fucked when it comes to dudes in this situation. I'm hoping, and I think we are all hoping, that you get the best outcome possible from this shit sandwich.

You can't make someone a good person. You can only hold them financially accountable for their decisions. I worked very hard to make sure that my marriage did not end in divorce. But that only works if both people are working at it. I think that you could conceivably ban divorce, but the reality is that you can't make this woman learn loyalty or duty.

I was married in a non-religious civil ceremony - actually a signed document, rather than a spoken ceremony. Regardless of the words said, you can bet your ass that that applied.

Buy a few bags of kisses at costco, and use the university printers, and bang. That's all you need. Could probably do a legit campaign for under a hundred bucks. Gotta be on a campus though, so the community is tight-knit enough to be shaken by it.
/r/MensRights07/02/16 09:44 AM

You got it all wrong dude. Get some of the girls in ROTC to set up a booth or a sidewalk campaign at a university that says "Wear a white feather to protest women in the draft!" Charge a dollar for the feather and a chocolate, and give them a black and white flyer with the history of the white feather campaign printed on it. None of em will read it until a week later when you tell the press.

Of course their wives aren't going to be supportive. They are going to be scared of anything that threatens their lifestyle. The reality is that dudes are jelly, and women see a threat because a guy knows his value, and they are afraid their men will realize they sold too low.

I understand that the twitter handles were blurred because of Reddit's policies, but I can't help but be annoyed that publishing already public information would be against Reddit's policies as they are currently enforced. Also, I feel that they would go unenforced if the content of the tweets were different.

/r/MensRights20/07/15 04:55 AM

I dunno, it's not really misrepresenting if it is illegal, but defacto truth. Also, I feel like in situations where the mother is clearly at fault, people go out of their way to make it seem like both parties are at fault. I know in my own divorce, my ex-wife clearly tried to play that game.

See. Same point. Rusty pickup truck = unworthy. If you rock up and you are Henrik Lundqvist in a proper suit, and grab a woman by the chin and look her straight in the eyes, you are going to get a very different response. If your rusty pickup truck is something else, you get a different response. Creepy = unworthy.
/r/MensRights19/07/15 01:41 PM

There is a lot of truth in this. I haven't changed in my attractiveness, but I switched from baggy to fitted clothes, and the world changed. I guess no one figured out that living my lifestyle would mean muscles.

As you may have noticed, this is super common. Women demand a divorce when they think they can do better, and then come back when they realize they can't. It has happened to me, and to pretty much every divorced dude who was not "at fault."
/r/MensRights14/07/15 01:13 AM

You aren't. But how many people didn't, and then touched the door, or other bar surfaces? My point was that bar bathrooms don't exactly have a reputation for cleanliness.
/r/MensRights14/07/15 01:09 AM

You are misunderstanding a basic principle. PUA is banging 4 chicks a week and then ruining those women's days when you don't call. TRP is banging 8 chicks a week, and then calling, and then banging four of them again when one of them suggests a 5-some with the other three.

Always keep your public professional account separate from your private account. The reason those things are separate is not because you are embarrassed about anything you do or write, but because people can twist your words into things you did not mean. Look at the Twitter character assassination jobs that go on, where people get mauled over innocuous tweets that would play fine to the right audience.
/r/MensRights10/07/15 07:11 AM

Facebook is only feminist-central if you allow it to be. When I see things that are posted that are offensive, I either object politely if I think there is a chance of changing someone's mind, or I unfriend people. Why would I be friends with someone who hates me because I was born this way? My Facebook feed is generally awesome.
/r/MensRights05/07/15 07:38 AM
1

But I think the purpose of "boys will be boys" is that certain behaviors are not wrong. Wrestling or active play with brothers/friends is natural, not wrong, and typically male behavior. When a window or a lamp gets broken, you hold the boys accountable, but you don't get surprised about it. There is nothing wrong with a phrase that expresses that.
/r/MensRights28/06/15 03:56 AM

That, actually, is way more apt than I expected when you started with "this exchange from Office Space:" Props.

/r/MensRights07/06/15 03:20 PM

That's a rough story. I'm curious, why do you still identify as feminist?
/r/MensRights05/06/15 12:20 AM

Yeah, but that's important, too. I think that without these sorts of examples, men are too likely to just keep their mouths shut and secede from society.

Wow. Talk about a post designed to trigger my rage. I don't care if it's a hypothetical. Fuck that woman. A close family member finalized a divorce that required shared custody and both parents to reside in a specific area inside of Illinois. As soon as the ink was dry, she fucked off out of state, leaving my family member with sole responsibility for the kid and no financial support. And then, of course, years later, demands that the kid spend all school vacations with her out of state.

There's a legit argument for opportunity cost. A marriage is a contract, and if the other party breaks the contract, they should be liable for breaking that contract. You forgo opportunities in order to be a part of a lifetime relationship. Now, If you are the person breaking the contract, you can't reasonably expect compensation for that, just as you can't expect the landlord to pay you the cost of the two unused months on your commuter train ticket when you are the one breaking the lease and m…

I'm on your side with this one. I don't really understand why you're getting hated on. I don't think anyone sees this woman's behavior as defensible, feminist or not. People do stupid, dumb, wrong shit. Sometimes that can be an indicator of some sort of trend, but sometimes it's just an idiot.

It's dumb. You show people that they are valuable and worthy of respect regardless of gender. I don't value vagina, and respect must be earned.

I don't know what that is but when I searched Google for it I get a picture of someone telling me that my style sucks. Fuck you Dick. :P It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure S&W doesn't cover capitalization. It can help you out with comma usage, for sure. It's a great read, for anyone.

Let me be clear on this: You are currently arguing that because Irvine Welsh wrote fiction, the way that he used words doesn't count.

Now I wish that right next to "give gold" there was a "give guidance" option - you could choose to send a dictionary, thesaurus, or Strunk and White to the commenter.

Not really, since the person who used the word is the completely non-fictional Irvine Welsh. You'd be surprised how many dictionaries cite Shakespeare.

Not saying that the prosecutor didn't screw up, but first-time offenders usually get the minimum. She's technically a first-time offender, so maybe there were guidelines that the judge had to follow.

I think coming from a girlfriend is different than a wife or mother. My mother has said "You're just like your father" before, but never in a negative way. I mean, she has been married to the dude for longer than I've been alive, and she's known me all my life, so if there's someone able to make that call, it'd be her. I'd imagine if I was married long enough, and my father was alive long enough, that my spouse would also be qualified to make that sort of comment. But again, I can't imagine that…

I think you hit the nail on the head there - it's less about the 17-25 age gap as it is 1) The teacher is specifically entrusted not to do this sort of thing by the government, the parents, and the school, and 2) There's a power imbalance that makes it very difficult for a student to say no, or for that student to know what the right thing to do is.

You'll notice that I did not say that at all. I said some are unethical, and the new ones are bitter. That's the thing about TRP that they tell you right at the start. There are stories that treat women only as objects, and not subjects. The idea of people who run things like Women in Refrigerators is that this is a thing that only happens to female characters. Jason Todd, Bucky Barnes, Uncle Ben, and all of the male characters who have died to push a story forward get ignored because they don't fit the narrative. So there's a grain of truth to it. That's the thing I think that separates assholes from other people. There are people that pursue one-off sex without concern for their own morality. There are also people who discuss the psychology of sexual relations with a sort of honesty that scares a lot of women, even though those people act in completely moral ways. There are a lot of assholes that use TRP as a way of justifying their assholery, but TRP isn't inherently negative. I don't think you understand the issue at all. Yes, murder is a crime. But there's the issue of civil liability that is separate from the crime of murder. The most obvious example of this is the OJ Simpson trial, where the criminal court found him innocent, while the civil court found him guilty. They are two different systems that work together. Just because something is a crime, it doesn't mean they are absolved from civil liability - in truth, it's the opposite. Often police make sure to pros…

The police would arrest you, and then send it to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor would probably give you a chance to plead down before taking you to criminal court. Nope. Running the red light is a crime. Damage to cars and persons are civil liabilities.
/r/MensRights14/01/14 01:49 AM
3

Are you kidding? People get prosecuted for traffic crimes all the time, and then are sued for damages afterwards. In fact, here's a quick blurb on it in the UK. Here in Japan it's common practice, and in fact liability law is so screwed up here that one of the scams that organized crime pulls is suing people for non-existent damages.
/r/MensRights14/01/14 01:36 AM

Suing is very definitely not just a US thing. I don't live in the US.
/r/MensRights14/01/14 01:28 AM

It's a very tiny minority. In fact, it's standard process. Think of it like this - If a cop gives a guy a ticket for going through a red light, would that absolve him of having to pay for totalling your car and putting you in the hospital?
/r/MensRights14/01/14 01:27 AM

I think you've hit on the core of MGTOW - and I think apathy is healthy. Another way to look at it is the Patrice "You've got to be willing to take the L" - You've got to have a healthy valuation of vagina and relationship (those things are separate), and you have to be apathetic enough to be able to walk away when women demand too high a price.
/r/TheRedPill14/01/14 01:24 AM

Or, more clearly, False police reports are prosecutable in the criminal court, and damages due to defamation are recoverable in civil court.

These things are not mutually exclusive.
/r/MensRights14/01/14 01:06 AM

I don't think you understand how the criminal justice system works. Yes, they should be criminally punished for their actions. In addition, the victim is allowed to sue for damages.

Hamstering is the activity of bending reality to rationalize the thing you want to do as the right thing to do - there was a link not too long ago about married women justifying their cheating on their husbands - their twisted logic completely created purely to make themselves feel good about their bad decisions is hamstering. It's not limited to women, but many people on this thread refer to women as hamsters, either because they are referring to this specific trait that is more prevalent in wo…

That's super common in East Asia. One for women, and one for everyone. They're the same inside, it's just the way they're labeled. Part of it is demand, though. East Asia is very efficient at transferring wealth to the women, so men mostly don't have time to go to enjoyable places, they just work. *edited to speak more accurately about my observations.

I pride myself on a lack of deceit. But I still photoshop the pimples out of the photos of my friends. I think that TRP is about trying to find a working model of gender relations - if you could imagine a xenobiologist attempting to describe human behaviors for some sort of off-planet BBC equivalent. Certainly TRP gets it wrong often - humans are imperfect, and we're too close to the topic to see it clearly. But TRP is probably one of the more clear-sighted attempts to do so.

TRP is not traditionalist, though it contains traditionalists. Whereas I've found TRP to be insanely helpful. It helped me understand why my previous LTRs had gone south eventually, and helped me change my own behaviors to better make my partners happy while not subjugating my own needs. One of thing things about finding things insulting is that it's often a sign that it hits close to home.
/r/MensRights21/11/13 04:16 PM

I don't think TRP is prescriptive at all. It's a descriptive theory. What you do with it is your own choice. Like I've said elsewhere in this thread, PUA is not for me, but they're putting a prescriptive solution out there for people who just want to get laid.

What about basketball players and short people? There are always outliers.
/r/MensRights21/11/13 04:10 PM

I think that some of them are. There are definitely people within TRP, even some of the major internet voices, who are like that. Return of Kings comes to mind. But I don't think the core idea of TRP - that men and women are not identical - is anti-feminist.
/r/MensRights21/11/13 02:33 PM
2

I think you're confusing PUA and red pill. I think the core idea of TRP is that there are certain inherent differences between men and women, and that is it. For me, TRP is the idea that you can't try to force people into a mold that they aren't happy in.
/r/MensRights21/11/13 02:31 PM
5

I don't necessarily see it this way at all. I'm not a traditionalist, and I have never bothered with the PUA ideas - but if they work, and your only goal is getting laid, then why not I guess. But there's a germ of truth to the idea that there are certain things that are gender-defined. Biologists define male and female behaviors in every species. Why would we be so arrogant to believe that humans are different?

Exactly - but see my response to SJW_Scum - You can see a physiological logic behind the double standard, even if it's unfair and wrong-thinking. I really hate that she thinks this sort of behavior is ok, but at the same time, I can see why society tolerates it more than in men.
/r/MensRights17/11/13 03:38 AM

But what about the reason for the double standard? Certainly this sign says that we should stay away from this woman, but a gender flipped situation could legitimately be frightening if the sign holder were a large enough man. You could even imagine a large gay man holding the same sign. Now, I'm not saying that that man would actually be a danger, but I think it's much more possible to see that man as threatening, which would lead itself to the double standard. But the double standard bothers m…

Also, if your female bartender coworker is wearing a short skirt, the guys at the end of the bar will keep tipping you 5 spots to accidentally knock the pen on the floor so she has to bend over and pick it up.

At work, I have to rationalize the purchase of new tools by showing how the cost will be offset by new business generated, or show that the old tool is worn and needs replacing. As much as I agree with it, it's not limited to women. There are men that do the same thing. See the post a while back where a man was trying to sue the owners of a home where his daughter got knocked up at a party by a guy who was not related to the homeowners/did not live at the residence.

It only takes once. Same goes for unprotected sex. Of course, it won't happen to you.

Then you've been lucky. How much do you trust your luck? Edit: for reference, listen to the recent Joe Rogan Experience with David Choe, where Choe expresses and interest in getting involved in a fight, and Rogan's hesitance at the idea. And that's a fight with rules and no hate, and no weapons.

No. But that particular lesson was drummed into me by my martial arts teachers in Chicago, Japan, and Brazil.

So she should have called the police. She got exactly the predictable results for stepping in. In fact, it was even predicted for her by her boyfriend who she threw under the bus. I really hope he's blocked her out of his life already.

This is key. Two lapdogs indicates crazy. Two labs indicates a rocking good time. I've never had a hike in the wilderness that wasn't improved by dogs. But then... I've never been attacked by wolves in the wilderness.

I think I agree with you. The writing and argument-building is really bad, bad enough that I really, really want to disagree with him. But all of my experiences with horsewomen leads me to believe that they are indeed batshit insane.

I have a very strong and intelligent mother. But she still did things that confused me, and when I looked to my father for an explanation, he just shrugged his shoulders. The idea of "female logic" can seem insulting and condescending, but it's a reflection on the fact that men and women do not process events through the same filter of needs, priorities, and experience. The value of TRP theory is to try to build an ability to understand how that works, and to perhaps be a more empathetic human w…

I think that most people are not illogical. Certainly, their logic comes from their own limits of education and experience, but if you understand those limits, then the things that seemed illogical often become logical. I think that that's what TRP theory is about.

I think that women and men are probably equally illogical, but in different ways. I tend to understand men's illogical behavior, even if I don't agree with it - I can understand why a guy wants a big pickup truck or a supercar, even though I wouldn't buy one myself. However, there are many decisions or logical conclusions that women come to that just baffled me, that TRP theory tends to reconcile with reality quite nicely.

I think this is the point of TRP - there are really happy couples that do work like this. But they are the exception because women by-and-large biologically aren't rigged to accept that. Data like veggie_girl's just goes to remind us that while exceptional women can be exceptionally fantastic, they are the exception, and we cannot plan for the exception. You must plan for the most probable situations.

I think for a lot of men here, we spent our lives being baffled by the illogical and generally unpredictable nature of women. While TRP isn't perfect, it certainly gives a more solid explanation and predictability to women's actions.

50 Shades of Grey isn't suitable for children, but I say that just 'cause it's a really shitty book. If you're able to read it, your parents should be explaining it to you.
