Perpetuating the stereotype.Didn’t realize how close to home this post hit until I remembered some shit my wife said just the other day. In the summer I took the kids cross country to my sister’s house for 10 days, wife stayed behind. Recent comment from my wife was “you know the only reason the kids are still alive is because of your sister” , she went on for a bit insinuating that I’m completely incapable of taking care of my children. Informed her that I’m not as incompetent as she is desperate to believe that I am. In … | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/10/25 07:23 PM
Custody, Georgia - need adviceGA doesn’t really do 50/50. One parent is always the custodial parent and one noncustodial apparently. Essentially the lawyer told me that if a judge has to decide that she’ll be the custodial parent and they can’t “force her to live in GA”. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/06/25 07:37 PM

A positive thing about divorceI feel you. When I finished grad school I attended the ceremony so the kids could be apart of it / be a good role model and whatnot. My parents and her parents came as well, 1st generation college student and all that. Spent 15 extra minutes taking pictures with my cohort afterwards and “ruined our dinner plans”. We didn’t have reservations 😂, they were happy to seat us when we showed up. Also we collectively decided to go to a different restaurant than the one in the itinerary, so of course tha… | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/25 02:55 PM
A positive thing about divorceShe got mad at me for “hanging out with my buddies for 9 months straight”….i was deployed overseas 😂 | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/25 01:42 PM
A positive thing about divorceThat’s got to be so nice lol. My wife is an obnoxious over planner who will plan a week vacation down to 15 minute intervals, then be upset that the schedule isn’t followed thus ruining whatever is going on. | /r/Divorce_Men | 24/05/25 01:39 PM
Is it feasible? Is it worth it?Definitely resentment on both sides, that’s honestly the thing that makes me wonder if we can recover from. This is good advice though, I typically do the dishes/clean the kitchen every night and help with the kids, but she does the lions share of the household labor. I’ll have to try and carve out a larger role in that area, she’s just very much the type to stand over your shoulder and tell you that you missed a spot/ did it wrong. I think the bigger issue is that she does not respect work, lik… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 04:20 PM
Is it feasible? Is it worth it?Congrats on retirement! I did 7 in the Army and I definitely feel like it was the root of most of our problems. She would routinely tell me that being a stay at home mom was harder than being an infantryman, NCO, etc. actually told me that deploying for 9 months was “just hanging out with your buddies”. Last deployment she asked for a divorce three days after I got home, thanks Jody. Things got better for a while after she got caught, I guess I thought she’d be more grateful that I didn’t kick h… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 02:35 PM
Is it feasible? Is it worth it?Yeah that’s the hard part for me, everything feels like it should be fine. I finally feel successful, pulled myself up from nothing. Everyone is healthy, kids are good, playing sports and going to private school. She was tired of me being in the military so I finished school, gave up my career, went to grad school, started a new career where I doubled my salary and honestly barely work. I’ve been accepted into a PhD program and could double my salary again within five years. She doesn’t work, dr… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 01:55 PM
Is it feasible? Is it worth it?Definitely going to dive deeper into therapy, I’m really just working on a contingency plan if that doesn’t bear fruit. She has made the go sleep with other people offer before, which feels like a trap, a hassle, and also I just don’t want to. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 01:42 PM
Is it feasible? Is it worth it?Appreciate the advice. My “knight in shining armor” complex exists, but it’s for the kids. When my parents split we moved into a shitty trailer park where my sister and I were neglected and abused, surrounded by sketchy boyfriends, blah blah blah…shitty childhood. So yeah I’m projecting my own experiences, but if giving up some money means my kids grow up in the suburbs then oh well. I of course wouldn’t get nothing for my half of the equity, would use it as leverage to negotiate other things in… | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/04/25 01:38 PM
