Working OT is detrimental to prepping for a new job. Get yourself laid off so you can get unemployment while looking for a new job. Let your deadlines slip as you can't be forced to do OT. Keep relevant records like those emails so that he can't fire you for intentional misconduct. Also look up your state's laws as some may permit unemployment benefits for quitting a bad environment. I've given this some more thought. Slaving away at a job is not so awesome. Especially in the US, where docs might be in debt for a long time as they work through residency, at times hitting 100 hours a week. If you can reliably make bank while still having your free time, that would be a near-ideal setup. I've met pro gamblers who travel the world doing whatever they want. College went by in a flash. I learned a bunch of useless things, much of which were forgotten the day after the test. Does any college even have a seminar on dating/social skills? Just having people together isn't enough for everyone.

Some other ideas: server at an expensive restaurant: I've seen people work a 20 hr workweek and have serious hobbies due to the high tips. And you meet girls on the job. barber mining is still lucrative (probably most lucrative of all the ideas so far) but be prepared for 12hr days and working through weekends. AF/Navy is not a bad idea.

I didn't pledge but a lot of guys around me did. Some of them didn't make it past the semester, going on academic probation. Others switched out of their original majors and some lost scholarships. If you are planning on a difficult major, check if the frat also accommodates academic priorities. Some do a better job than others.

How did you get a place to live after your default? Did you already have a place? New apts and mortgage underwriters will turn you down after checking credit. Renting a room is doable but your options will be limited. No house and limited apt options for ~10 years. Not a huge deal for me but might be for some. Building a biz is risky; I tried and failed so congrats to you. What if it didn't work out, as in the vast majority of cases? You probably had some safety net, which is a resource.
