Right? Presumptuous much? Plus the whole trying to force Belle to marry him thing. Gaston is fucking disgusting. I made the error of looking at a dude's comment history here. Blech. Need brainbleach stat. Off to /r/aww.

Gaston is so rapey though! And dumb as a box of rocks. Learn to take a damn no, Gaston, and try reading a book sometime.

I like this thread. Some really interesting and thoughtful male perspectives. I'm surprised by the level of support for this community. Plennnnty of the opposite though, as expected.

I hope this advice helps, or I guess it was mostly encouragement/reassurance really. It sounds like you're ramping up in terms of knowing yourself and what you want and that is so, so important. And being relentless and prompt in dropping the men who aren't for you is equally key! You are so welcome and I wish you all the luck in the world! <3

It's so interesting that you mention his childhood was a mess--my husband endured his share of misery too when he was younger, and he's the best man I've ever met. That's... kind of sad to be honest. The thing about warming everyone's cars is absolutely dear. I'm happy you found someone so wonderful.

I found my husband in New Jersey. Only man like him I've ever met, and I did online dating for seven years (with some pauses because most of the men were awful and I needed breaks). His friends joked he'd make someone a great wife someday. He is a good, close listener, he's smart as hell, and he has a fantastic sense of humor. He's gentle and appreciative, comforting and accommodating. He's a scientist and he's not afraid to be wrong. He's a lot like my dad except he's readily emotionally availa…

Your response was perfect. It read so calm next to that ... whatever that was. He wasn't as malignant as the others but good lord.

The second guy, Word Salad Man, made me eyeroll so hard my vision lobes took me into an abyss of otherwordly feelings in my own mind and also momentary discomfort but eventually I "meandered" to a return and my eyeballs "lowered" and here I am! The soul of a kismet poet garbled, it was like the ocean or a short story by Cormac McCarthy on bad LSD. Respect the journey. Namaste.

I feel similarly about abortion. It's a vital last-ditch safety net. I've never needed one but I wouldn't hesitate for a second if I did, and I would fight to the death to preserve the right to one for myself and other women. One of the things that terrifies me about state-level abortion bans in the US is the apparent determination right-wing politicians have to let men rape us into motherhood. No fucking thank you.

Hard agree. Birth control is a net good for women overall.

These men really aren't going their own way, are they, with this batshit desire to take away our most basic human rights so they can literally possess us. Their obsession is beyond creepy. This is why we have to make sure no more states in the U.S. call for a Constitutional Convention. Men like this would use it to try to strip us of our rights just like what this asshole's describing here.

This needs more upvotes. I am so sorry you're in this situation. I cringe whenever a woman in the relationships sub is pregnant unexpectedly and is cavalier about the possibility of becoming a single mother. Of course women do it all the time, but parenting is freaking tough and I wouldn't want to do it alone. I support women choosing whatever they want when pregnant, and I think it sucks that people ever feel like they have to terminate for financial reasons, but the idea of parenting alone AND…

Oh yeah hell no. That's such a violation of your privacy and perceived intimacy. I'd drop him so fast he'd bruise his butt.

He's full of bullshit. Block him. You deserve better than a lying jackass like this guy. I'm sorry he got under your skin, but rip the bandaid off and be done with him.

Goddamn JMS is awesome. He wrote a kid's show I loved in the 80's and a grown up show I enjoyed in the ... what decade was that... the early 2000's maybe, and his women characters were always just people just like the male characters, and this confirms for me that he's just all-around great.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
