I believe in adaptation over refusal to participate. Just because marriage laws are unfair to men as a group, does not mean they are always unfair on an individual level. I have to live with my decision to marry. Just me and me alone, not anyone else on this sub. I found TRP/MRP at a time when my relationship was (still is) happy and high functioning, and the tools I've learned have been invaluable. I simply disagree with the stance that an interest in marriage precludes someone from participati…

First and foremost, I'm aware I've been asked not to comment on this sub. The reason behind this is that I believe the advice that "marriage is never the answer," is shortsighted. Let me explain why, in very specific circumstances, marriage provides you with more protection than cohabitation with an LTR. There is always the issue of children. When children are born in wedlock, they are presumed to be the biological child of the married couple. The husband is automatically listed as the father on…

I was not aware MRP/TRP was not open to participants pursuing marriage.

Because I want to. TRP/MRP has provided me with beneficial insight and useful tools, but I have to make my own decisions and live with them.

Why? Because for my personal situation the pros outweigh the cons on the topic of marriage?

It was divided between the officiants how cost worked. For some the cost is included in their fee, and the "counseling" is really more of get to know you so I can write your ceremony sessions. Others have actual marriage therapists (some psychologists, some not) that they recommend and you get a certificate of completion. Finally, one guy is an officiant and licensed relationship therapist and he does both for a lump sum. I wanted to find an officiant with similar views on marriage as we have, w…

I agree that flight check is a great analogy. I think explaining the counseling this way will help put FW at ease with the process.

Interviewing officiants has actually been an interesting process. I'm leading the wedding planning, and because I currently have more flexibility than FW I've been attending the interviews alone. All but one officiant I interviewed seemed uncomfortable with the fact that I was taking the lead on planning the wedding and that my FW wasn't there to help with the interviews. The one officiant who wasn't uncomfortable is the officiant I preferred, but he requires premarital counseling. My thought go…

I knew there would be at least one of these comments. My decision to get married is mine and I own it. I haven't learned anything new about the risks of marriage since finding TRP/MRP, and it certainly hasn't changed my position on marriage. I read through the post and some comments, and it looks like that OP had a terrible vetting process, and got married after an ultimatum from some woman who really just wanted a wedding. I know I'm not above error, but I took the time to vet my FW. She mentio…

I also used logic, bro. OP admits he doesn't know the content of the text messages. Ergo there are missing pieces to this puzzle. Maybe the missing pieces don't affect the big picture, but the devil is always in the details.

I will admit that I know how my data plan works, but don't concern myself with other data plans. Maybe OP should also look into a better cell phone plan... My examples were hyperbolic. Sorry they turned your hamster wheel into turbo mode. Have you looked into using that to power your house? Worth a shot. All OP knows is volume, not content. I was just suggesting he find out more about the content before filing for divorce. At the very least so he can improve his strategy.

They both enjoy watching KUWTK and were discussing whether or not Kylie really is pregnant Planning a surprise reunion party for OPs friends to hang out and relive their glory dayzzz He wanted suggestions for Halloween costumes The point is no one knows. Also, at least for my plan, texting doesn't have anything to do with data. So that part doesn't check out either.

Sometimes I ask my FW to put out the trash when she is home on vacation and it coincides with the pick up. Problem is, my FW loves sleeping in on her vacation days and has a history of sleeping through trash pick up. Thankfully, we can go an extra week between pickups and be just fine so I'm willing to roll the dice. Couple of months ago, I call on my way home from work and ask about the trash. She tells me it's been picked up but that she can't talk because she's on her way to the store. I susp…

I plan to continue growing real estate as a separate enterprise from our joint enterprises, purchasing in states where I am not obligated to put her on the deed or mortgage. This right here shows you need to consult an attorney. I would shoot for one in a firm that has a real estate, commercial and family law department. Why are YOU personally buying these properties? Your values and communities won't mean a lot to a child crippled with physical, mental and emotional disabilities that you passed down to them with your inadequate genetic material. Having kids to "pass down your values and communities" is a noble cause, but is no different than bringing a child into this world because you "want it so badly" and "you'll love it so much." If your goal is to have a lasting effect in society then there is no benefit to passing on poor genetics.

Having children is a huge part of why you exist. From the purest biological standpoint, I suppose. Taking into account modern society and reproductive evolution, I would have to disagree with you. We have reached a point in modern society where reproduction is not required of everyone in order for the human race to survive. I don't just bring my hammer because I know all I'm doing is putting in a nail for a picture, because what if when I'm done with that I realize I need to take a look at the sink or tighten a light switch cover? This post won’t resonate with MRPs who are still in the anger phase. I agree that this area of MRP strategy becomes more important the further along you are in building your frame, MAP and self-improvement. Thank you for your post. This is where I am at in my RP journey, and I think it is a stage that many on MRP forget about as they become focused solely on their own improvement. For someone who never went through the BP phase, and is consciously working on keeping it that way, this concept pla…

First, I think it is important to define some terms. Equity: the quality of being fair and impartial Equality: the state of being equal, especially in status, rights and opportunities Second, I would like to reiterate that my comment was based on household management. Yes, household management is necessarily linked the financial management as well as the overall health and success of relationships, bu…

My personal belief is that households should be a place of equity, not equality. My goal is to make myself and my household as successful as possible. I am responsible for 100% for my household, but completing 100% of the household tasks is not a success for me. Additionally, having my FW complete 100% of the household tasks is not a success. In our case, there has to be a division of labor for the household to be a success. The rub (for most couples, not us) is deciding on that division of labo…

I didn't have to assume. The fact that you showed your LTR two webpages as a part of your discussion on prenuptial agreements told me everything I needed to know. First, you tried to reason with a woman using logic on a highly emotional topic. Second, the cost/benefit analysis of a prenuptial agreement should have been explained to your LTR by a licensed attorney well versed in family law. The attorney should have been selected by your LTR and paid for by you. Prenuptial agreements are contracts…

I take back what I said earlier. Your biggest mistake is starting a discussion with your girlfriend(?)/ fiancée(?) on a topic that you are not well educated or versed on. First, you don't really know what you or how a prenuptial agreement could help you achieve those goals. Why do you want to limit alimony? Because you've read some horror stories? You're earning potential seriously outweighs the LTR? You intend for her to be a stay at home wife? I've read/heard of a number of cases where husband…

I don't know all of your financial background or personal goals, but I also see little value in a prenuptial agreement where both parties have zero assets. That is based on the information I have from your post history, and could be changed easily. Prenuptial agreements (contracts) are mainly used to protect separate assets from becoming marital assets. Once you get married all the wealth you accumulate (income, real property, personal property, etc) are generally marital assets. What are you go…

You can put terms about support and maintenance in the contract, but you cannot contract away your right to support if support would be required to keep the spouse above the poverty line (or in some states the level of the marriage). Absolutely nothing regarding custody or support for children is binding. That is against public policy. Obviously all family law advice is based on general principals, because what controls is different from state to state and even county to county based on judges.

For the first 25 years, yes they were great friends. Throughout the course of a friendship, to a degree you get out of it what you put into it, and I am willing to admit that I wasn't always the best friend and neither were they. But, between 23-25 things started to change. There was a shift where more and more of the friend group started to settle down. On my anonymous internet honor, I solemnly swear this is 100% accurate. Your friends may be idiots, they may be acting out,but was it really egregious or aggravated? There is over 30 years of back story that leads me to believe it was purposeful. Particularly events over the last 5 years as I've grown and my interests and views on life have changed, and are no longer in line with theirs. Additionally, there was an eerily similar situation with another couple that we were all friends with. "Gee X , what is YOUR take on the current picks for the NFL draft this year?" …

I am very confident that this was an isolated, one off event. LTR is drama-free. She doesn't allow it in her life from family, friends, or work. My friends created the drama, and LTR wasn't sure how to deal with it because they were my friends, whom she had never met before. That was my original mistake. I thought this was women being women overblown drama. But really, it was man bitch drama. I believe they wanted to get LTR all riled up so we would fight and break up. There was never any drama …

I believe they are pissed I moved to a different part of country, and they blame LTR. That makes no sense, because I met LTR almost a year after I moved. But, I think they see her as the reason I would never move back. In reality it is shit like this that would keep me from moving back.

This was my instinct on how to act when I made my original post, but I was repeatedly corrected. After those responses, I took some time to meditate on the incident and reflect on everyone's actions. I saw that the advice I had received was valid, and began to accept that maybe it was time for some friendships to end. aka bringing you into her frame. :-/ I did this on the advice of others. What difference would a prenup have made? I'm assuming that everything you described was purchased with income made during the marriage. Income made during the marriage is marital income, and therefore the assets you purchased (or fed into in the case of your retirement) are marital assets. They will be divided according to your state's laws on marital asset division. Provisions in a prenup regarding the distribution of marital assets are "generally" not enforceable. You may have been more succe…

What does that mean exactly? Different things piss different people off at different times. Particular dude was being a drama queen and groomzilla. By the time the situation was brought to my attention, I would have had to confront him about it on his wedding day. No thanks. Call me a little bitch, but that day was about him and his wife. It was not about my LTR.

Fair point. LTR will likely be the youngest adult at the reunion by several years. But, that assumption would probably be quickly erased with one normal interaction. I think any issues with having stuff in common would more have to do with growing up in different parts of the country. One poster suggested reaching out to some of my friends wives and asking them to include my LTR. This could work, and I'm willing to give it a go once I feel the situation out a little more. This may be difficult b…

Everyone has their personal threshold. My threshold for the behavior of the groom at his wedding, when I'm the best man, is a little different than my threshold at a reunion. LTR and I were fine, and we made it through the weekend. The situation wasn't ideal, but things could have gone worse. Could I have handle my shit a little better? Sure. But, I am willing to accept that there are some days that just are not about you.

The evening went down differently than we both envisioned. I'd be less inclined to believe LTR's story if she were a boring person. LTR describes herself as shy and introverted, but I wouldn't. Maybe a little introverted because she doesn't like to be social all the time, but definitely not shy. Maybe it is from years of public speaking or attending networking events, but she is a great conversationalist and tends to do a pretty good job of interacting with people and making friends. This situat…

I know my LTRs whole side of the story, so I know she had a problem with what happened. I heard no mention of any of this from my friends. If it happens again, then I'll no to ask right away. Your friends see your LTR for what she is, and did not want to ruin the wedding by making a scene and instead just snubbed her. They will snub her at the reunion as well. Personal experience with a goldigger that married a friend. Turned out we were right about her. That shitshow is still going on. My younger brother's friends did this one of their friends and got the guy to cancel his wedding. Only difference is, they'd known the girl for several years while they were dating. In this instance, I have to say that my friendships have gotten way more complicated than my relationship. Long distance friendships are almost as useless as LDRs. I have three close friends that I've had since before I started school. It is going to take more than one night for me to write them off. Like I said above, this type of behavior was out of character. The dynamic of our friendship changed quite a bit once I moved. Go back three years and this never would have happened (only in part be…

Right before I left, we were having a decent conversation with a small group. Not my closest friends, but people I knew from high school and some of the groom's friends. LTR was actively participating. I didn't intend to leave her alone for an hour, but since she normally does well at these types of events, figured she would be okay if I went to get us fresh drinks. I didn't watch this conversation end, so I don't know how things went down. According to LTR, the conversation just naturally wound…

I don't know if I'm willing to allow one incident to define almost 30 years of friendship. My relationship with these guys is 15xs longer than my relationship with my LTR. What they did was wrong, but she also could have handled it better. Instead of sitting in a corner and sulking all night, she should have pulled me aside and brought my attention to the issue. A good first mate wouldn't allow the bottom of the boat to fill with water because he didn't want to ruin the Captain's dinner. Because…

Your comment reminds me that things could be worse. I'm very thankful that LTR and my family, especially my mother, get along well. But, that doesn't mean you will do everything she wants you to do and the way she wants it done. LTR was spot on with what I should have done. The first time it was clear to me that my friends were intentionally being dismissive, I should have said, "Hey X, LTR just asked you a question." or "Hey man, don't be a dick. Good read. Although she is on the introvert/shy end of the spectrum, LTR seems to do a good job of making girlfriends everywhere she goes. Also, our profession (like every profession now a days) requires a lot networking, and though she dreads the events, seems to do rather well at those too. I think the difference here is that she actually cared and was invested in rather or not my friends liked her. At this point, if they haven't let their drama go, I doubt a confrontation would solve any issues. In fact, I think it would just serve appease LTR. She begged and pleaded for me to confront my friends the weekend of the wedding, and continued to beg for months after. If it won't accomplish anything, and instead go to show that if she whines enough she will get what she wants, it probably puts me in a worse place to confront. I agree that they may be struggling with betadom, both in their marriages and personal lives. They both have "progressive" wives, which is very different from my situation. Upon reflection, I remember some similar behavior when I tried to integrate friend groups throughout school. This was pretty out of character for them, which is why I initially didn't believe LTR's story. Women tend to be dramatic and read drama into things that aren't really there. But, as the weekend went on I did notice that they would just talk over her when she tried to participate in conversations. My expectation was that they would be accepting of LTR. I've never been anything but pleasant to their wives, so I don't think it is asking too much to expect that they do the same.

I can see that both of you are working and you divide your household chores equally - That's what most of the bluepill couples does anyway. The more I read up on this area, the less I feel it applies to LTR and our relationship. I think the fact that I can't see myself implementing it in my own relationship is causing me to struggle in seeing the purpose. Good point. I have no beta infused history with LTR, so our dynamic is a little different. I get those high payout items everyday, so the return for me is diminished. I've got LTR so deep in my frame that she is hyper focused on constantly meeting all my wants and needs, and I feel like adding this into our present dynamic would actually chip away at that. But, definitely good to keep in the back pocket in case I'm ever looking for a way to help the pot boil over on my terms.

Interesting concept, if your SO is willing to take the bait and participate. If I did what one poster above suggested and started arguing about toilet paper, she would just calmly listen and then ask if I have a proposed solution. She would not take the bait. From where do you believe traditional gender roles developed? In a vacuum based on pure biology?

At its core, a traditional marriage is based on the premise that a woman submits to the will and control of her husband. That means that whether "the woman is a housewife and man works outside the home" is entirely at the discretion of the husband. Therefore, it is entirely possible for a traditional marriage to be comprised of a husband and a wife who both work outside of the home, at the discretion of the husband, so long as the wife submits to the will and control of her husband. Would you co…

I come home to a clean bathroom and home cooked meals every day without [a stay at home Fiancée]. I believe this is the phrase you are referring too. Where in that phrase do I indicate that it is my Fiancée who is making sure the bathroom (or even the entire home) is clean and that there are home cooked meals everyday?

Where did I indicate that she cleans our entire home, daily by herself? Why would she have an issue with having a clean home? All I will say about her career is that we work in the same professionally licensed, highly demanding field.

Where is the Me vs. Her mentality coming from? Is it because you're still butthurt that she talks about her boss? Or weed is making you hyperaware to the reality that she wants to bang Dr. McDreamy? Giving more specific facts and asking more specific questions would be helpful. What have you read? What steps have you taken to improve yourself? What problems are you having with your wife? Why do you now regret getting married after discovering TRP? Otherwise /u/ Cobey3_16 has the most practical an…

He tells me to do things he thinks will make me happy. This is the important factor. While it is nice that your Fiancé wants to make you happy, it would be unfortunate if that happiness came at the cost of his own goals, visions, or happiness. If this is something you are very serious about, then ideally you would have disclosed this early in the dating process. But, I understand that the realization (even if you had these ideas and feelings swirling around in the back of your mind for years) ma…

An alpha male would have: (1) not been home when his wife arrived; (2) just been getting out of the shower either to wash off sweat from the gym or the sex he just had; (3) initiated sex regardless of his wife's actions or demeanor; or (4) still been in bed with side chick and invited wife to join in on the fun. An alpha male always has options.

My fiance, since we met, told me he does not like traditional roles. He wanted us both to have jobs and contribute to household chores equally. First, it would be helpful for you to give more information regarding your Fiancé. Does this quote mean: "I believe men and women are wholly equal, therefore we should do everything equally. This means we both work and we both share the chores equally." OR Does this quote mean: "While I expect your to submit to the Captain/First Mate dynamic, wherein I w…

They are plates... If they are shit testing you then you should next them, and get new, better plates. If the threesome does not go well, why do you care? They are just plates, replace them with new, better ones. You can get new ones no problem, right? Because you're the best version of you that you can be? You organized the threesome. It goes however you want it to. There's your frame. Also, congrats on being able to have a final order entered on your divorce in 3 months. That's pretty rare, at…

I sympathize with your husband, as my Grandmother passed away recently. This was the first family member funeral I had attended, and I was greatly unsure of what was expected of me. My fiancée on the other hand, comes from a family where it is expected and common that they attend visitations and funerals for family friends and even distant relatives, so she had much more experience. In the car before the Wake (that's the visitation part the evening before the funeral) and the Funeral Mass, my LT…

I do not have children, so I am not going to comment on what you should or should not do as a parent. You will be better served by someone who has more experience. What I will say, is that jeopardizing your relationship with your kids, in my opinion, not a smart move. What is more important to you, being a wonderful father or punishing your wife? I don't know why women do most things, nor do I care. I just texted my LTR to ask why women wear thongs if they were so uncomfortable. Her response: "I…

Feel free to steal my idea. Would not recommend allowing/enforcing during shark week. We are down one white leather bar stool due to taking this enjoyable game too far. haha It really came around, because my LTR doesn't really wear panties or bras at home anyways. She loves nothing more than to come home and change into oversized gym shorts and a tshirt. I don't mind, because pants with elastic waistbands make it pretty easy for me to slide my hands into and grab her ass. But, she would always a…

I never quite understood why dudes got their panties in a bunch over panties. The way I view it, panties are for utility. That's why there are so many different varieties. I'd also imagine that "granny panties" are more comfortable than thongs. I mean unless you've removed your clothes, no one sees them. That's why I've instituted a No Panties Policy inside of the house. One less step to naked. But, then again, you probably can't dictate what kind of panties your wife wears (or doesn't wear) unt…

Her ability to orgasm can be increased with your performance, but her inability to orgasm every time is not caused by some perceived lack of performance on your part. Rarely should it be your goal to focus solely on her ability to orgasm. This includes spending your time analyzing orgasms to determine if they were real or not. That is a complete and utter waste of time. I've had discussions on this topic with my LTR several times. From what she has described it to me, and what I've realized thro…

I'm sure you know the phrase "Show me some respect." It is so popular, because respect is meant to be communicated through actions. While feelings of respect can be communicated verbally, they are meaningless without corresponding actions to back them up. My LTR communicates her respect to me daily, through both her actions and words. Before I leave for work, she stops me, looks me in the eyes and says, "I love. I appreciate you. I respect you. I cherish you." This is followed by a hug and long …

Currently engaged, together for almost 2 years. As my last post indicates, I just got back from a week long trip with the LTR. Other than some "chit chat" and a small handful of bar conversations, LTR was the only person I talked to on the trip. I enjoy talking with my LTR. When we met, we didn't have a lot in common life experience or hobby wise. That is probably our initial conversations were so interesting, there was a lot to share. But, that didn't change as we got to know each other better.…

The one thing that is most abundently clear from your post is that you have not spoken to a lawyer. It is extremely, extremely, extremely unlikely that any court would enforce a prenup where no lawyers were involved. You need to talk to a lawyer. Call a lawyer today. Pay the weekend/holiday upcharge. It will be worth it.

Not all conversations can be panty dropping. Thankfully I've instituted a no panty rule in the house.

If your wife's only dietary limitation is that she doesn't eat red meat, then I fail to understand why that requires you to cook two separate meals in the evening. Do you feed your children red meat for dinner every night? And, even if beef is always what's for dinner, that doesn't require two separate meals, just two separate meats dishes. Example 1: The family is having burgers for dinner with roasted sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts. So, beef burger patties for you and kids and a turkey bu…

Sounds like you spend way too much time thinking about your wife. Your description of a narcissist describes most women at one point or another. Women need attention. That shouldn't be a news flash to you because you managed to find some YouTube videos at 3AM.

First, I think it is important to dispel the myth that you are 100% protected by not getting married, and instead cohabiting with an LTR. First and foremost, if you have children and end the LTR, you are afforded no protection. And, often times non-married fathers receive worse treatment by the courts than married fathers. If you are not married to the mother of your children, there is no legal presumption that you are the father. Unless you are legally declared the father (placed on birth certi…

Thanks for the input. I was overthinking it, but now that things have been cleared up for me that won't be an issue. I'm still learning so no changes in plans or behavior yet. I've always taken the approach that setting goals and improving make living life easier, not more difficult. People are meant to work towards goals.

Thank you for this clarification. I liked the continual self improvement aspect that you emphasize in Dread Game, and I plan to integrate some of those as I start on my MAP. I agree that material related to MRP on Maintenance Mode would be great. I'm not naive enough to think that what I'm doing now will keep LTR at the same level of happiness forever, so any insight is always beneficial as the MAP evolves.

Good to know that the Theory of Chad doesn't go that far. LTR follows this pattern a lot. As you describe the, Soft No's happen on a more regular basis. It happened last night before bed. LTR claimed she was tired and still too sore from earlier in the day, and asked if I would be willing to shower with her in the morning in lieu of sex before bed. An extra hour of sleep and knowing I'd be giving her a shower facial in the morning was enough to let me drift off to bed easily. The last Hard No I …

Good point. It was a unique set of circumstances. I am willing to admit that I am not a gladiator, and at the time was not capable of having sex for the 4th time that morning. Going forward I will focus on always being ready, willing and able.

Thanks man, this helps a lot. Your answers will provide a good background when I start reading MAP, now that I have a better understanding of how to frame my frame as it were. I actually did half expect our sex life to take a dip once we started living together, and then again when we got engaged. But, LTR proved me wrong. It actually went up to the point where I was turning down sex, because I needed to get other things done. I know that is no guarantee that it won't dry up after the wedding, s…

I agree that my level of happiness can change at any time, but it isn't dependent upon LTR's feelz. My happiness is my happiness, but I know I have the power to contribute or detract from the overall happiness of the relationship. My focus will be on dispensing of shit tests and comfort tests as they come up, and definitely refusing to settle for the current state. I can always do better, and achieve more. Thanks.

I mentioned the quote in my post, so thank you for the clarification that it is hard stop. But, even after reading the post on the Dread Levels, I was still left with the questions above. For example, it seems like the Dread Levels are based around the premise that one isn't satisfied with their sex life, or that their partner is an angry harpy who tosses out hard no's like candy at a parade. But, that does not apply to my current situation (or as u/A_Rex pointed out, it doesn't apply right now)…
