An Update on my DivorceThank you so much. Yeah, it's definitely taught me some things. It's taught me what real love feels like, it's not just sticking around no matter what and letting yourself be walked all over and miserable. I heard several people say "Oh, real love means you stick it through". But what if at that point you're losing yourself? It's not worth it. I'm just hoping she's ready when I tell her I'm filing by the end of the month. She's slowly still coming to terms with it. But I can't wait forever. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/25 06:58 AM
An Update on my DivorceThat's what I actually want, and I've told her. I don't hate her by any means, and still want to know she's doing well. I've told her all of that. She's still been fairly calm about it, but she still hopes there's a chance to fix it. I still tell her no. It hurts her, but the sooner she comes to terms, the better. | /r/Divorce_Men | 06/04/25 02:31 AM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Holy crap, yeah, I think we're all making the right call, honestly. I think the worst my STBX might do is pack her things that night and go to her parents, or she'd bail out of the car and run off crying. Honestly I don't know, just going based on past times I've seen her hit with life. I don't think she'd become hateful... But I don't know. One week until I find out. Edit: my worst fear is she'd hurt herself, honestly. 😞 Like I said, I don't hate her or have resentment towards her, I do want he… | /r/Divorce_Men | 23/03/25 01:51 AM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Yeah... Thinking more on it, it might be a car conversation. I don't want to bring her home and do it in front of our kid. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 08:27 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Absolutely - I'm hardly on Facebook as it is, so... Ought to be pretty good there. I'm planning on just staying quiet, telling the few important people in my life, my boss (pretty understanding and would approve time off), and that's it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:37 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Again, I'm telling her after dinner. But yeah, definitely thinking straight to the point may be best. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:34 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable? We've always had separate bank accounts and whatnot, so that's good on my side. I changed my passwords recently though (even though she wouldn't have known them anyway). Spoke with my lawyer Monday, and they said everything sounds good, and we're in a good position. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:16 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Yeah, I'm thinking that's best.. Straight to the point. I'm just overthinking it all. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:15 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable? Why do you care? I'm empathetic and feel sorry for her... Though like I said, even though she didn't treat me well. I'm doing my best to not care. And yeah, trust me, all of those thoughts have crossed my mind... I'm expecting total war, but hoping for at least some agreeable terms... Though that hope is slim. Plus, the food thing I figured might be better. People aren't as frustrated or irritable once they've eaten... Just a stupid idea, again, hoping to reduce the damage. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:14 PM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?Just got out of work, getting a chance to reply now. I understand that... I'm empathetic towards her feelings, even though she wasn't towards mine. It's a curse I have and I've honestly gotten better about not caring, but I still feel sorry for her (even though she did this to herself). Got the lawyer, ready to go when I tell her. I've even started looking at apartments and whatnot (though I'm hoping to keep the house). We'll see what happens one week from tonight. Thank you for your comment. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 01:11 PM
Feeling cautiously optimistic after my consultation with my attorney. If I remember correctly, it's monthly. I'll need to double check though. Basically, you pay the retainer fee, and they pull what's owed to them from that. If it goes over what they needed, you get a credit back. If they go over what's in the retainer, you need to pay the additional. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 05:39 AM
Best way to break the news to keep things amicable?https://www.reddit.com/r/offmychest/comments/1i40ke8/im_scared_to_divorce_my_wife_but_i_know_itll_be/ I'm scared to get divorced, but I feel like it'll be right for me once I get over the initial shock. (And sorry in advance for the length, just writing it all out.) I've been with my wife for almost 20 years, married for 15 years. I fell in love with her in high school, and married her right after college. I looked past her flaws, and worked every day to be a better husband for her. That's part … | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/03/25 04:40 AM
Advice?I have a question regarding the "how employable" the stbxw is... My situation is a little different, my stbxw is doing student teaching and can't work for a school until she's finished. Which means she'll finish within the next month, but won't have her teaching job until the fall. So, would I be able to argue she's more than able to be employed? | /r/Divorce_Men | 14/03/25 10:53 AM
