It is Texas and yes, she's entitled the amount added to it during the time of our marriage. But with mediation, you can always come up with scenarios

Asset-wise for her, Nada.. when she did work the job didn't have any retirement funds, she NEVER saved, didn't accumulate any financial equity anywhere. As long as we have been married, my paychecks, since 2013, have paid for everything to include bills, needs, her hobbies and to some degree mine. The later was pretty much a self-sustaining hobby financially

I just had the same internal question. I told her last Thursday that I want a divorce. Tuesday when I went to work in the wee hours I found the Valentines basket she left for me. I didn't get her anything. She is in denial so I didn't want to give off the message there was hope to save the marriage.

Maybe find out what it would be like to live happy, find another passion/hobby, another exciting relationship in the next 3/3 of your life.. or the other 3/6 of your life. I am trying to do that myself right now, granted I am the petitioner of the soon-to-be divorce.

One car she can't touch, the other she could. That's when the chess pieces of different scenarios in discussion and remediation happen.

I told her nothing more than I already told my W and our counselor.. so I am not worried in the slightest

Nice.. I am not the one that got caught going through my phone looking through my text messages and such like I caught her. I have never done that nor would I. I applaud you replying but understand your response is solely based on what you have read here and your own personal experiences.. glad the forum here isn't a court of law for you would have made an argument based on the complete lack of the whole picture..

Why? If that's your comfy zone, go there. Of course be with your date and if you see them acknowledge them. If they are your typical guys, they may acknowledge you first...😄 If these are your mates and she either doesn't have a problem with them or actually engages with them with you then all the better. You won't have to walk on eggshells, you can be you..

The problem that I have, and I am fully aware it is my problem, homes over where I live with the setup I have purposely created when the house was built, 4-car with carport, are next to impossible to find and those that are out there, close to a million bucks.. I am willing to sacrifice more in order to keep the situation I have. W could care less about those amenities. But, as you say, it will all have to play out as it does/will. I will read that link a wee bit later... thanks...

No.. not divorced yet. Neither one of us (lady friend i gave gotten to adore) were even looking for a chemistry-thing to happen. Can't stop feelings from happening. It just did.

She is willing to wait for me to get my guts/shit together drop the d-bomb.. She understands it won't be pleasant for me (she's been there, done that). Once that happens and she's still there, I plan on visiting her and her me..

How do couples live separately? I understand the word, but the concept is confusing to me. You're still married, live separately but people go on dates? Is it even a legal term? What do you do with the kiddos if you have then? Man, it has to be expensive if one IA forking out a mortgage AND rent

I would stick to your hobby / passion activities.. I have recently met someone and neither one if us were looking at all.. We met at a carshow of all places.. Classic cars is a passion of mine and apparently a suppressed one of hers (she was around them all the time with her Dad). She realized what was missing in her life and I stumbled across a beautiful woman who has the same passion as I. Be you !!!!

I don't know the answer (albeit it I may be in the same boat soon). From my heart and so many posts here there is ONE theme; be selfish !!!! On yourself. Please find something that interests you; books, movies, hobbies, travel, walking,.working out, SOMETHING!!!! You have a wonderfully potential life ahead of you, grab it !!! Own it !!! Enjoy it !!!

Get a hobby. Mine of choice: 1. In the garage, my classic cars 2. Inside, my guitars and learning songs Enjoy the time where you can do whatever the fuck you want, go anywhere you want, etc... if you want a SO, that will come in due time, but enjoy the things you like or think you will like.

Well, you see.. I am trying to balance your expertise along with others here that say wait till I get all my ducks in a row (with a counselor AND legal consultant with an opening consulation). One can't just call a law office and expect they have an opening on my timeframe.. So, with that, I stand. And yes, she knows I am not happy, there is no illusion. Thanks for your insight bro...

Supposed to be having a consultation with a lawyer referred to me by a friend's wife (her lawyer when she was divorcing her first H). That is supoosed to be Tuesday. I have no idea how she will react. I DO know from a mutual friend that she already has the seed planted that I am leaving, as women are good at, she senses things are really bad between us (of course from my side she knows). She is seeing our same counselor on her codependency issues, the same counselor I spoke to last week and, of …

I believe in Texas they go back 2 years on high value items and if not sold at fair market value then, the asset needs to be ponied up. I have thought about this already. 🤔 Thanks for the reply

Question about "she ran out of money".. if 2 people are married, have mutual access to the checking and saving doesn't that imply I have run out of money too? We are a 1 income marriage, me....

Thanks for the detsiled andwer.. I have also heard don't leave the house... I have a referral via a friend's new wife's who she used during her first marriage divorce, the guy was really good in trying to protect desired assets. Of course I know I will be sacrificing; all retirement funding is via me (2 401ks, 2 pensions, Air Force retirement), she had nothing before our marriage.. I have paid off vehicles; hers, mine and recently my daughter's 1st car I bought outright). I would rather give up …

That is what I think happened in my head when a month ago she, in some charade of being concerned about me because I wasn't home at my normal time of 1045pm after band rehearsal with my School of Rock band. She calls at 1130pm (all I am doing is talking to a fellow band member in the bloody parking lot). She calls, she asks where I am in a pissy pissed off tone, tell her where I am and she hangs up... That was, I believe in my head, the straw that broke the camel's back.

Wow !!! 34? I don't even want to contemplate the financial hit that took. Hopefully she was a career woman and had her own retirement funding.... I am in the process of saying the big D-word...

Yeap, nothing wrong with asking questions. Hopefully you get positive feedback and not the other. There will ALWAYS be the later, just have to learn how to filter that out. I am currently going through my own situation where I don't think the marriage will survive.

The change in jargon is more reflective to your ex wife's attitude to you, not your son's attitude. You won't be able to change your ex's attitude. So, just take it with a grain of salt and let it it slide right over you.. 👍

I know a few lady friends who feel the same since they were in bad marriages too. So. There are other women out there with your exact same philosophy. I guess the trick is finding one of them that you like and she likes you.

Take your losses and go down the road. I am 58. At your age, if you found someone else you could still be a Dad. My wife and I were both 42 when we had my daughter. Who knows, you may meet someone who younger than you. There a lot of women who like older men. Good luck with things moving forward.

If you lose millions doesn't that also mean you retain millions? Sounds like it would affect your quality of life as you know it and are used to it now, but if you have millions, you change your lifestyle for while, recoup your other millions over time by yourself (100% is yours now). Then you regain your freedom, sanity and do whatever the fuck you want, period.. How long do you have to pay alimony?

I know she is your wife, you initially saw something special about her, but she's sounding like a spoiled entitled female. Get the fuck out now...

Wow.. well articulated

I echo what many have already said, she is emotionally gone and Bud, you don't want that!!! You need to move on. Don't recall if you had kids, but if you don't, and she doesn't want anything, then move on. Are you entitled to anything? I mean, the whole damn family law system seems to bleed the husband (since he is typically the main financial earner) but what if the wife is?

If the lady you are meeting doesn't have the best of intentions for you (both of ya). If it "smells stinky" in that things don't seem right.

Thanks.. I believe the counseling was helpful, she actually taught me boundaries and told me to read the book marriage with boundaries.. wanted to get to a point where I know I tried. I am sure we both did, but think it has gotten to the point after 19 years we can't hive what the other needs/wants. She is codependent bad and an enabler (one of the reasons the step-son turned into hell-yun at age 17).

I know I need to be armed with a plan and some have told me to go talk, at the very least, a divorce lawyer that specializes in Husband's and Military (I am retired military as well). Any words of wisdom on picking a lawyer? Have me work on classic Mopars, I can do that all day long blindfolded, but having to deal with a potential divorce is totally new to me...

I appreciate your comments, but happy marriage is not defined by the spouse not banging others. There's more to one serenity. I have done the "nice things" you mentioned, been there, done that. With that said, it is a 2-way street of attentive connection. Thanks for mentioning Jesus, i have asked for his guidance as well, but not sure with your "OP" statement/meaning Cheers,
