I don't feel like either of these are problems but to be honest I don't have enough experience to say so

Allllll totally depends on context and delivery, man.

If she's gorgeous I highly doubt it's her texting habits that are helping her out. You'd be really surprised. Though it's a fair assessment to make, I think you're overestimating how easy it is for her to attract people.

That's a really broad generalization. She's one of the hottest girls I've ever met, and she's also one of the most honest and trustworthy - otherwise she wouldn't be my best friend. People are multi faceted. One undesirable feature doesn't make a person "not worth your time." She does it because it works for her

Yes, she is. Yeah, she just carries on the conversation. But it gives the illusion of being busy, and of course, being "hard to get." She usually stops when she gets super close to somebody, but even then, sometimes she'll do it because she's a bit peeved at the person for whatever reason.

That's not what I mean. I'm talking, specifically about determining whether person A, who is 15 years old, is mature enough to have sexual/romantic relations with person B, who is 25 years old. Because while the absolute vast majority of the time, person A will not be mature enough, there are going to be exceptions where they are. But we don't have the resources to take it into trial every single time that a 15 year old has sex with a 19 year old to determine whether or not the 15 year old is ma…

It can't only be judged by a headline, but you also can't make a legal case out of every single decision that we make that's debatably wrong or right. The law needs to be drawn somewhere. We simply don't have the resources to be so elastic in our enforcement of the laws.

It's less-so about the actions and more-so about the subtle social cues that you send when you take this attitude. I'm hungry and tired and writing music, so I don't really have the energy to give you any real-life solid, answers to this question, so I hope someone with more thinking power can answer this question better. But things like valuing their opinion too much and looking for their advice way too often, and about everything, instead of acting independently and making your own decisions. …

You put up a defense mechanism because of your bad experiences with girls, and/or your attitude towards approaching people has changed, and you need to change it back (whether it be gaining confidence via working out, talking to people, etc. or whatever)

Well you have a couple of choices. One, you could suck it up, and go with a less satisfying relationship. Two, you could still think of him as an equal, with more knowledge in X subject than you. For example, I bet you know more about engineering than I do. I can certainly ask you some questions, and if I wanted to learn from you, I could ask you to chat over some coffee sometime. Maybe I'd ask to shadow you on your job for a little bit and you could explain what was going on. But, doing that al…

This is actually an incredible read; I was really skeptical looking at the title, but Mark Manson absolutely nails the points on the head, and delivers a powerful point with a powerful delivery and a powerful punch. I'd recommend anyone to give this article a second chance if you gloss over it.

It really depends on the kind of girl you're talking to, the kind of personality you have, whether you can pull it off, and what you're trying to achieve, etc. Sounds like a really good idea for developing lasting relationships with people. People love and dig the friendliness that comes with it.

seems projecting. Uhh...??? Clearly not, because it got ten upvotes. I'm not the only one who agrees with my interpretation.

Goal: "I'm going to act confident so I can be successful with women." Your wording: "I am now successful with women, I have made it." His wording: "I am now confident, I have made it."

My friend answers a ton of questions like this, and most people say he's the funniest person they've ever met. It works - just with a certain kind of person.

If he's someone who's bad with women, and he accepts that part of himself and doesn't try to change it, he's just going to be bad with women forever. But clearly he wants to be good with women, so why should he settle for who he is now? Is a fat person expected to "accept who they are?" No. They're expected to take healthy steps in trying to lose weight. And you don't judge a fat person who tries to lose weight because they "won't just accept who they are." It's the same mentality that the deaf …

I read it as, "I remember her being particularly flirty in highschool."
/r/MensRights27/04/14 04:00 AM

It sounds like you're pretty bitter, dude. The reality is that you're simply undermining another person's hard work and success for stupid reasons. It's not "luck." It's called "being good at it."
/r/seduction26/04/14 03:47 AM
1

Persuasion is more than having good knowledge, it's having the techniques to convince the other person that you have something worthy of being heard. I see why you think that flirting is 9x physical and 1x verbal. Clearly you don't get it.

It's not that I don't like your advice. It's that you were an asshole about it.

You're really, really condescending. Verbal flirting is what I'm good at, and I am very good at it, being funny and charismatic. And I've never said anything about not knowing how to read body language. So please don't be a jerk and stop making assumptions.

I don't agree. Why not just leave both names anonymous? Truth is, as much as /r/MensRights doesn't want to admit it, there's a pretty harsh rape culture against women, too, that you probably don't really see (in the same way that there's a very harsh rape culture against men that many feminists and women don't see).

Perhaps the concept is not horrible (I don't know enough about the science to say), but it's a really, really pointless distinction where common knowledge on the subject really has no reason to be changed (it sounds like some of those extreme feminists are looking for excuses to be offended), but the execution certainly is. They cite and quote a lot of unscientific and/or irrelevant quotes and sources to obviously push an agenda.

Both parties need equal representation, and 1. They probably already have a feminism club in their school in order to have this, and 2. Women would get much more attention during the club if it was "gender equality," and it would also probably be mostly women in the club. Having two separate clubs is really for the best.

I don't know about the majority of the subreddit. A bigger portion than most would like to admit of /r/Mensights is pretty sexist/circlejerky, so for me, with every single piece of news/discussion that comes on here, I tend to look at it with an incredibly critical view so I can better myself. When we talk about "power," we are not just talking about in the literal sense that, "The teacher technically has more power over a student because she has the ability to grade his work." Like, duh. It's obvious that the teacher technically has more "power," but what we are talking about is the idea that, subconsciously, people in positions of power hold a different kind of social status than people without it. Like, when you talk to the police, or a judge, or a lawyer, or a teacher (if you are …

Obviously, this is not always the case––sometimes the emotions are just unbalanced and your partner feels more for you sooner than you do. But if the pushing or rushing feels really uncomfortable, and if it's persistent, or worse, relentless, you need to back him/her off very firmly. I did.
/r/MensRights03/01/14 09:06 PM

That's not really necessarily abusive. Different people have different needs in a relationship - if somebody was being abusive towards you, they probably wouldn't dump you because you didn't want to have sex, they would probably manipulate you into feeling like shit for it until they get what they want.

You make very good points and you phrased it very eloquently - I upvoted you, even though I don't necessarily agree with it, I believe that both schools of thinking have legitimate backing and it comes down to. there is no being a right or wrong.

What do you like? A lot of places like bars, libraries, bowling alleys, etc. have events for you to go to, to meet new people. I mean why wouldn't they? It's their best interest to bring people in - isn't it? Bowling "leagues" I think (I'm not too familiar with bowling) are a decent place to meet people. Bars are great, and so are clubs. "Meetup.com" seems like a good website for meeting new people who have an interest, but I've never used it. A lot of places (like guitarcenter and certain colle…

WARNING: SUPER LONG READ! This is just my own personal story. If you just want to skip straight to the advice (which probably wont hurt you in any way), read the TL;DR I was on Speech team at a speech tournament, and I was flirting with this super cute girl who had a flower in her hair and who performed amazingly. This, but at the same time, I think a lot of PUA techniques not only improve your "game" but improve you as a person. Warning: Wall of text of pure anecdotal experience Acting confident and being decisive is a skill that's going to help you in all aspects of your life, and I think that's something that everybody should attempt to achieve (unless of course they are truly not interested in but, but it's whatever). The point is that the media is setting the standards for beauty, and they are usually very, very photoshopped and unattainable leading to a very high level of frustration to women who try to look what they perceive as beautiful. It's a subconscious thing, and it's a real thing. Modern feminism definitely has some things right, and the acknowledgment of that is one of them. Of course the shortcomings come when we try to recognize a solution, simply because sometimes there isn't one. Acknowledging…

I think it's fascinating. Unfortunately, especially prevalent in the /r/MensRights subreddit, misogyny is a very real thing. I wish we could all just believe in equity and as she said her AMA, I'm afraid the Mens Rights movement is becoming too big and too vague to become an all encompassing term.

I plan to have an introduction before my "poem" starts. It's going to be more of a speech/acting thing considering I've been working with speech team for so long, but it's going to be good, poetic, and intimate. I grew up with depression. I have no intention of downplaying women's issues. They are as legitimate, if not, a more legitimate concern than men's issues. But they're both issues, and they're both things that we as a society need to work on, and to get people on my side, I need people to understand I'm not biased or misogynist. Ya dig?

I'm thinking about starting off with something along the lines of (but of course significantly more polished), "Abuse is a real issue. It has been shown that 29% of women have been mentally, physically, or verbally abused in some way or another over the course of their relationships. According to the Huffington Post, 62% of these women have been hit, slapped, or shoved, 33% of those women have been choked, 11% are currently afraid of their partner, the list goes on.
