Putting your foot down doesn’t even work sometimes. I relentlessly tried to get my friend to be better at washing the dishes but I was constantly met with complaints, poor quality work, excuses, etc. He almost gave his roomates food poisoning by not washing off visible steak blood off of a knife. These NVM will do everything in their power to not become better. I suspect it’s because they feel entitled to their lazy lifestyle. They naturally have no initiative. I’m getting mad just thinking abou…

My 5’ 10” ex (once he started getting abusive) would walk ahead of me and complain I walked too slow. I’m a fast walker despite being 5’ 1”, and I’d walked with taller people before and they’d never complained about it. He would walk ahead and then at some random distance he would stop and stare at me until I caught up (at my own pace) and then do it again. My current boyfriend is 6’ 1” and he’s never mentioned my pace being an issue. It’s not height, it’s whether you’re an abuser.

Don’t forget financially! She’ll need to keep up with the various bills he’ll create and pick up the financial pieces when he makes nothing of himself (no retirement, no savings, etc)

The whole needing to be paid back thing always shows that it wasn’t done out of love. Rather they thought it was like a loan or something. 🤮

It’s definitely not unfair “because you’d expecting it to end”. That’s just reality. It’s just like insurance or any other type of protection

If I was always cleaning, he’d definitely be buying the supplies. But this whole situation means you should clean them out of your life. Take out the trash

His actions have clearly communicated that he’s a piece of shit. Men who don’t wanna share their wealth are not worth being married to. Better to leave on your own terms than to find out he’s leaving you for his mistress (that he impressed with the cash he hid from you)

Reasons why I’m glad I’m becoming a career woman and an accountant. I won’t have to become dependent on a man and get an “allowance” 🤮, and I’ll do the taxes so anything he hides would literally be fraud. And if he ever wants to file separately (which is a dumb idea because you’re worse off than being single) we’re getting a divorce.

If a guy tries to get out of chores he’s garbage. You could easily rebutt with “seems like you need more practice” and make them do it every time.

We deserve to have standards. There’s nothing wrong with holding my partner to the same standards I hold myself to. If I have to have a job to pay bills, so should they. If I’m gonna get a college degree, so should they. Men with any net worth don’t date broke women (without expecting to financially abuse them), so why should women?

That advice makes me so mad. She most likely was at-peace or happy with her body before him. He turned it into a “her” problem. The whole thing gaslights her into thinking that she’s the problem. That if only her body looked different she would be properly loved.

This is like something a dad would get for his daughter after communion or something. A man spending a significant (proportional to his wealth) amount on your ring is IMPORTANT. It means that you matter more to him than himself and various other small pleasures he could’ve gotten himself with that money.

Men will treat every date like there’s millions of other women waiting to date him (“let’s go 50/50, how about you pay?”) while simultaneously acting like they have to “put up with” someone’s preferences. For him, if he feels like there’s always gonna be other girls, why doesn’t he just cut his losses when we’re not compatible?!

If he was actually excited to date her, he would abstain from drinking too much or at all when he went out with friends because he would want to be at his best for his date the next day. She’s clearly just a placeholder. Hopefully she’ll get the memo and leave him. No woman deserves this.

This guy I met on OLD told me that he was growing his curly hair out because his friends encouraged him and he had nothing better to do in quarantine. Another time I met up with him he revealed that he actually grew it out because he lost a bet and had to grow it out so he could be Napoleon Dynamite for Halloween. He had also told a mistruth to me about another thing and retold the “truth”. These were first meet ups! How was I ever supposed to trust what he said was gonna be true?

Only men who can’t do anything for women are defensive when they’re asked what they can do for women. If you had a car, house, nice job, and good budgeting skills, you would probably be very proud to lay those on the table. It would just be a matter of finding someone you’d want to share that with.

Don’t open yourself up to being taken advantage of. Trust is earned, not given. You wouldn’t leave your car unlocked and unattended to “give trust to the world”. Also, never pay someone else’s bills. When you’re married, they’re your bills too. When you’re unmarried, his bills are his bills alone. Only an entitled man would even ask you to pay for his bills.

Men are infuriating like that. They’ll have a problem with a certain type of person and then date that person. Then they’ll complain that their girlfriend is the person they are. (Ex. My ex seemed resentful that I came from a middle class family and called me “rich”. He could’ve just not dated me.)

In a healthy relationship, effort really does feel effortless!! Examples from my life of work rather than effort are: - having to drive my ex to and from work even though his job was 0.2 miles away

Real life examples of why you shouldn’t pay someone else’s mortgage, rent, car payments, etc. You’re probably being used. Keep your money while you’re unmarried. No ring and no wedding = no subsidization

It’s time for a divorce. But if there’s any chance that he can touch that college fund through divorce, then it’s time to separate. Throw the whole man away and his son.

Money always distorts how people interpret situations. A significant other gets you thoughtless gifts that cost little “omg he’s horrible, dump him!” Vs this situation “boo boo. Your husband got you expensive gifts. Be grateful.” It’s the same problem, but the level of money put in changed their judgement. It’s really tiring to see people only care about the money rather than the core problem. There’s a problem, but if it’s covered in money it becomes “stop complaining about being rich” and what…

That’s what I thought too. 😂 Not sure how she can afford to do these things financially and time wise. Maybe being a trainer at an all-women’s gym? Work out video YouTuber? I don’t see why her job matters to him if it’s basically indentured servitude to him.

Also women compliment each other on things that you might’ve put effort into most of the time. I can’t put effort into making my eyes look nice (because guys are never talking about my eye makeup). Women will compliment me on my outfit (something I consciously choose), embroidery I did (complimenting me on a skill), my makeup. Men’s compliments are void of you being a person while women’s compliments recognize you as a person.

If he was really getting so many girls then he wouldn’t “waste his time” with you. He’s trying to seem inelastic, but it doesn’t work because logic would dictate that he would walk away. Men are dumb

Middle school relationships are like the definition of the “talking stage”. Middle schoolers don’t really have the resources to go on dates. They can’t really go to restaurants or cafes so they just hang out at school and text and stuff. The talking stage in adulthood is nothing. It’s not a stage. (Not an unpopular opinion here).

Men don’t understand the happy medium. That’s why they take everything to extremes. “Don’t make creepy compliments. They aren’t compliments, it’s sexual harassment.” “OH SO NOW I’M NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE COMPLIMENTS?!” Like no. There’s a medium. Jesus fuck

I agree. Most men don’t buy a 30k car around the time they get married though. (If they do then they can afford a 10k ring too). I surprised though that capitalism hasn’t swung in favor of high priced engagement ring loans. Maybe because it’s not a man thing

I wouldn’t be greedy. I would just make it so that any salaries, individual savings accounts, investments, IRAs, and retirement accounts are maintained by their owner. Anything co-owned needs to be split in half financially (savings accounts down the middle or by contribution), cars split by money and cannot be physically sawed in half. Whoever keeps the house has to buy the other out of their half share. Etc

I’ll love a man when he shows me he deserves my love and trust. Men shouldn’t just be given this shit for free. When a man has earned the love of his significant other, these things will come naturally. Also, generally the “freedom” section has weird vibes. Men have freedom. It seems like they want freedom from accountability. And women totally are the world for men.

So the “promiscuous” girl makes him wait? It sounds like she’s just an FDS girl who vets a man before deciding to have sex. Is she just “promiscuous” because he assumes she has sex with everyone if she makes him wait? Make it make sense. 404 logic not found. And this also means that he pressures “wait until marriage” people? What a prize. 🙄 Also. So what does he want? Girl has sex with him, she’s a “slut”, girl doesn’t have sex with him and she’s out. Well. We need more women in power. Then we can fight more easily for our rights (like to choose). White men only care about other white men and the fires under their asses (when lit by the people). Boys in school need to be taught more about how the female body works. It has to be done right so that they can’t be ignorant shits that claim discharge means you’re cheating (or whatever that bs is). Ideally it would involve multiple choice questions AND written questions as well as myth vs fact stuf…

I was recently reflecting on all my “bad decisions”. If I could do over my entire life, I would still have to make those mistakes to get where I am in life and have the great things I have now. If you didn’t make these mistakes you would’ve made others. I once read that nothing was truly a “bad decision” in the moment. You made that decision because you thought it was the best decision based off the facts and knowledge you had at the time.

Most of the time designer frames have the better designs too. The cheap ones are always a little too off to look good on my face. They’re always too thick in one area or the shape needs to be a little taller. Of course, it’s not impossible to find nice non-designer frames, but they’re a little harder for me to find in-person.

Paying for dates is not equality considering all the other shit women have to pay for to be socially acceptable. If women paid for dates then men would have extra money to spend on women they actually want to impress.

If you’re blind like me Zenni is still not cheap (relatively affordable though). My eyesight isn’t horrible but bad enough that my prescription requires the more expensive lenses. Of course, if I had money for a car upgrade then I’d have money to afford even the most expensive Zenni glasses

There’s no real explanation even. Being single because you’re waiting for a man that isn’t garbage has no downsides. I think an important part is if the man is trying to contribute financially. If he loses his job and doesn’t do anything to find a new job, that’s a problem. At that point you aren’t even trying to contribute a fair share to the relationship. Cheating implies the man thinks it isn’t going to work out with the other woman and wants to keep his current wife to run back to. If he had any decency, he’d tell his wife he fell out of love with her, they could separate, and he could pursue this woman without cheating. He knows it’s too good to be true, and that’s why he’d cheat.

I just kept looking in the mirror and telling myself that I’m pretty. I started taking care of my skin and telling myself that I’m worth it. I think it’s just a fear or hate of “high maintenance” women. The general idea of “natural beauty” is no make up or procedures. We deserve to be treated because ultimately we decide who to be in a long term relationship, who we have sex with, and who we start a family with. We have to remember the power is in our hands and that men are trying to appeal to us

Some men get upset when women take care of their skin and hair. It’s like they think beauty comes genetically only and is low maintenance. Maybe that’s why incels think they’re doomed. They don’t want to put in the time, effort, and money.

Bad idea. You’ll end up like the older version of that r/relationshipadvice post where the wife was paying off 40% of his debt, he kept opening credit cards, and got a new car with loan. The moment you knock out one debt, he will make a new one. He probably wouldn’t get a nice ring either. He’d claim to be too much in debt to spend so much (on something that’s not for him).

I can’t tell if it’s because we’ve been in the same apartment for too long without seeing friends or if it’s because he hasn’t had his meds refilled in a month+, but he was being cold and rude half the time I interacted with him! Then there were two instances where he didn’t respect my boundaries. We mutually decided the relationship wasn’t good for us.

It’s also highly presumptuous that they bring lots of value. A job will bring you value definitely. They have good reason to consider your value to their team. In a relationship, it’s obvious what value the other should bring (the aspects of the relationship). What you’re really looking for is compatibility and attraction. It’s funny how some guys think having women having standards also means men can’t have standards. If those standards don’t match up, then don’t be together. If I was a skinny fit girl who liked a tall man, and that man wanted a curvy girl, then that’s ok. We just can’t be together.

My parents are boomers, so I think that’s why my dad always gifted my mom nice jewelry. It was a nice gesture, but she’s a nurse (so she can’t wear more than a wedding band) and they don’t go out much. He wasn’t really taught how to do thoughtful gifts other than thinking about metals and gemstones. Surprising your fiancée with a ring worked when men knew they had to buy something that would last a lifetime. Now that men don’t always see that quality is important in a ring, talking to your spouse about their ring preferences should be more normalized. FDS has made me realize that open relationships are BS (not that I supported them in the first place). It’s just a way for the man to string along one woman while looking for her replacement. He’s getting all the benefit of looking for something better with none of the risk of losing what they already have. There’s a reason you usually get fired if you’re caught applying for other jobs at your current job.
